RIP Luna Vachon, dead at age 48

Former WWE Womens wrestler, Gertrude "Luna" Vachon, was found dead by her mother in Florida on Friday. Vachon was just 48-years-old at the time of her death. An autopsy was to be performed on Saturday to determine cause of death.

Many WWF/WWE fans who have followed pro wrestling for some length of time are familiar with Luna Vachon. She played the repulsive, villainous heel. In fact you could say Luna was the original "anti-diva" before SES member Serena ever set foot in a WWE ring. Luna's storylines involved time spent as manager of Shawn Michaels and Goldust, as well as a notorious dislike and feud with Sable. She competed for the Womens title at the Royal Rumble, but lost to Sable in that match. Watch a classic match as Luna battles Sable in an Evening Gown Match here at YouTube.com.

Many are already speculating on Vachon's death, as she has died at a young age and was a former pro wrestler. She worked with WWE from 1993-2000 and many believe steroids or other drugs played a part in her life just as they did in some of the others who passed away. At this time, it's unfair to speculate, but more important to remember her for her contributions to WWE and the womens division. RIP Luna Vachon as your pro wrestling legacy will live on.
