Smackdown Results 07/29/11

Smackdown Results from Philadelphia, PA:

The show started off with brand new COO, Triple H, coming to the ring to discuss the current World Heavyweight and WWE Championship title situations. He said he'd get to the bottom of things on Raw by Monday night, but as for the World Heavyweight Championship...Triple H was soon interrupted by Christian, who arrived to the ring showing off his championship.

In the ring, Christian talked about all the problems he's had dealing with GM Teddy Long and Randy Orton as well as the fans. Triple H said he doesn't like being interrupted and told Christian he'll be defending the championship against Randy Orton at Summerslam. That match will be a "No Holds Barred Match."

R-Truth arrived out to interrupt, saying he's back on Smackdown again. He told Triple H he wants the conspiracy theories sorted out by Monday night, because if not "he's a man of action." Triple H told him that's good because he'll be in action tonight against Randy Orton. For Christian, Orton said he'll face a guy he brought over from Raw, John Morrison, next.

Backstage, Zack Ryder came up to Triple H who was walking with Teddy Long. Ryder said he has a great idea, but HHH said he's given him 15 ideas every day. Ryder said this is the best yet. Triple H looked at Teddy then told Ryder he can be Teddy's assistant on Smackdown. Teddy was shocked as Triple H left.

John Morrison vs. Christian

In a non-title matchup, Christian defeated John Morrison by pinfall. Morrison had Christian down for the Starship Pain, but Christian avoided it, then snapped Morrison against the ropes. When Christian returned to the ring he had softened up Morrison enough to hit the Killswitch.

Winner: Christian wins by pinfall over John Morrison.

Wade Barrett did an in-ring promo talking about how Daniel Bryan took away his MITB briefcase at the PPV. Wade talked about the paycheck involved in getting the main event match at Wrestlemania 28. Barrett kept insulting Daniel Bryan as overrated, overhyped. Bryan came out with a mic in hand, talking about how Heath Slater said the same things last week, and then he made him tap out.

Barrett said he's nothing like Slater. Bryan got in the ring to remind Wade of his plans for the MITB briefcase. Barrett kicked Bryan down and picked up the briefcase, then crouched down to taunt him. Bryan grabbed Wade's arm and put the Labelle Lock on him making Barrett tap on the mat.

Backstage, Mark Henry came up to ask Teddy Long for an opponent. Long said there's a lawsuit against him for the technician he tossed off stage, plus all the reprecussions for what he did to Kane and Big Show. Ryder said he'll find him an opponent tonight. Henry told Long to thank his assistant.

Bobby Howard vs. Mark Henry

Henry arrived to the ring and awaited the opponent Ryder chose for him. After several moments, a small amateur wrestler appeared from backstage heading down the ramp. He was announced as Bobby Howard from Philadelphia. Henry stared at him puzzled why such a small wrestler was chosen. Howard turned around to walk backstage, but Ryder came out and coached him to get in the ring because this was his chance.

Henry walked over to the rookie cowering in the corner. He picked him up by the neck and slammed him down center ring. Henry followed that with multiple World's Strongest Slams before he finally made a cover.

Henry grabbed a steel chair from ringside and brought it in the ring. The ref tried to stop him from putting it on the rookie's leg. Henry scared him off, but Teddy Long rushed to the ring. He told Henry he'll find him someone to compete against, but all this stuff he's doing isn't helping.

Sheamus arrived to the ring and told Teddy if he needs someone to compete against Henry, he's his man. Sheamus said bigger doesn't necessarily mean better. Sheamus slapped Henry in the face, prompting the two to battle it out. Henry rushed at Sheamus, who held the top rope down for Henry to fall out. Sheamus grabbed the chair Henry had in the ring and took swings at Henry. Henry threw part of the steps at the ring, before finally leaving.

Winner: Mark Henry wins via pinfall over Bobby Howard.

Late in the match, Otunga took out the illegal Uso on the outside of the ring. McGillicutty was down in the ring and the other Uso was getting on the corner for a splash. Otunga rolled the illegal man back in the ring and pointed it out to the ref, distracting the ref as he tried to clear the illegal Uso from the ring. Otunga rushed over and shoved the legal Uso off the corner, giving McGillicutty the advantage to hit his swinging neckbreaker for the win. Tony Chimel announced the winners as "The New Nexus."

Winners: David Otunga & Michael McGillicutty win via pinfall over The Usos.

Backstage, Teddy Long seemed displeased with his assistant Zack Ryder. Ryder told him he set up another match, Ezekiel Jackson vs Cody Rhodes...and Ted Dibiase, tonight. R-Truth vs. Randy Orton

Cole said Kane suffered a torn fibula last week at the hands of Mark Henry and will be out for an indefinite amount of time to heal. Christian arrived out midway through the match, standing up on the ramp to watch as Smackdown went to break.

Late in the match, Orton did his DDT from the middle ropes to drive Truth into the mat. He turned and stared down Christian, then dropped to start pounding the mat. Orton was bleeding from his lip area. He went for the RKO, but Truth rolled to the outside. Christian came down and got up on the apron to distract the ref. Truth grabbed a water bottle and smashed it in Orton's face. That enraged Orton further as he got in the ring and tackled Truth down then started to pummel him.

Orton grabbed a chair from outside the ring and brought it in the ring to use on Truth. The ref called for the bell to DQ Orton. Orton took his rage outside the ring, where he tore apart the announce table and then clocked Truth in the head with a small TV monitor. Orton pulled Truth up on the announce table and with Christian watching, Orton RKO'd Truth onto the table. Christian looked worried as he watched it all go down from the ramp. Cole kept talking about how Orton can do all the things he just did to Truth at Summerslam in the No Holds Barred Match.

Post-match, Orton looked up the ramp at Christian who hoisted the championship belt up to taunt him. Orton seemed to snap and got a wicked look on his face. Orton got the crowd riled up, then went back and hit a second RKO on Truth on the table. Cole whined "what is wrong with him?!" Smackdown closed with Orton grinning as he started up the ramp towards Christian.

Winner: R-Truth wins due to disqualification of Randy Orton when Orton used a steel chair in the ring.
