Summerslam 2011 Results & Match Recaps
Welcome to WWE Characters the Blog updated Summerslam 2011 results coverage. Sunday, August 14th will be the official date for the latest Summerslam, with Los Angeles, CA as the official site. Cee Lo Green will be performing live in addition to a stacked card of matches.
Those matches will include the two major championships on the line as John Cena battles CM Punk to determine undisputed WWE Champion and Randy Orton challenges Christian for the World Heavyweight Championship. The WWE title match will have Triple H serving as special referee. The World Championship will have a "No Holds Barred" stipulation.
Additionally, Kelly Kelly makes her defense of the WWE Divas Championship against Beth Phoenix. Smackdown "Money in the Bank" briefcase holder, Daniel Bryan, will take on Wade Barrett. Also from Smackdown, Sheamus will take on the "World's Strongest Man," Mark Henry.

Summerslam 2011 Results:
Winners: Rey Mysterio, Kofi Kingston & John Morrison win via pinfall over R-Truth, Alberto Del Rio & The Miz.
There was a backstage segment with CM Punk and John Laurenitis. Laurenitis asked for Punk to apologize for what happened on Raw, so Punk did mockingly. Laurenitis walked off, but Stephanie McMahon returned. She tried to be amicable towards Punk saying HHH and Vince both wished him luck. Steph offered a handshake with Punk saying he knows where that hand has been, and walking off.
Winner: Mark Henry wins due to countout of Sheamus.
Josh Matthews interviewed Christian backstage who said he's got a little surprise for Orton tonight. He said he guarantees Orton won't leave as the new champion, because he has a little insurance policy. Christian said Orton will be like the movie "Cowboys & Aliens" an over-produced, over-rated, flaw.
Cee Lo Green performed a set up on the entrance stage. He did the Summerslam theme, then brought out a bunch of divas to act as background dancers for another song.
Beth Phoenix vs. Kelly Kelly
Eve Torres joined Kelly at ringside. Natalya was there for Beth. Beth was in control in the ring and tried to use a standing shoulder breaker submission. Kelly refused to quit though. Beth eventually tried to finish Kelly with the Glam Slam. Kelly rolled through the move and turned it into a pinfall instead.
Winner: Kelly Kelly wins via pinfall over Beth Phoenix to retain the WWE Divas Championship.
Winner: Wade Barrett wins via pinfall over Daniel Bryan.
Randy Orton vs. Christian
Christian arrived out and introduced his surprise "insurance policy" - it was the Rated-R Superstar Edge. Edge arrived to the ring with a short haircut and aviator sunglasses on. In the ring he got on the mic to confront Christian for how he's won the championship with a DQ win. Edge said he always did it with style when he won. He said Christian's become a disgrace to himself, as a whiner. Edge tossed the mic down and left Christian there, as he walked backstage. Orton arrived out for the match.
The match featured a number of entertaining spots including Orton hitting the RKO on Christian on the announce table. Later in the match, there were kendo sticks brought into play. Orton also used a trash can to DDT Christian onto from the ropes. The final part of the match saw Orton try to go for the RKO, but Christian smashing him with a kendo stick. Christian tried to jump off the corner at Orton, who quickly gets him with the RKO onto some steel steps. Orton captures the pinfall from there and regains the World Heavyweight Championship for his 9th reign!
Winner: Randy Orton wins via pinfall over Christian to become the new World Heavyweight Champion.
Prior to the main event, Stephanie McMahon was seen but not heard, talking to her husband, COO Triple H, the special referee for the championship bout.
John Cena vs. CM Punk
Triple H will serve as special guest referee for this match to determine who is the undisputed WWE Champion.
Late in this one, both Cena and Punk were getting counted out by Triple H. It got towards 9 and it was clear neither man would make it back in, so Triple H went outside the ring and rolled both guys in himself. Back in the ring Triple H signaled the match would continue forth.
Late in the match, CM Punk hit an elbow drop off the top rope, Macho Man style. Cena kicked out of the pinfall, and then Punk got in Triple H's face on the count. Cena rolled Punk up for the pinfall of his own, with Punk kicked out. Punk kicked Cena in the gut, but Cena responded with his own kicks and strikes as well. Punk fought back and then hit GTS on Cena. Punk made the pinfall cover with Cena's foot on the rope. Triple H missed that part of it and gave Punk the 3-count pinfall, making him undisputed WWE Champion.
After the match had ended, Cena tried to convince Triple H he messed up on the pinfall count. HHH shrugged him off and Cena left the ring without the championship belt. Punk celebrated his win on the announce table with the crowd, then got back in the ring with HHH. Triple H tried to give him a congratulatory handshake, with Punk ignoring him. Triple H left the ring, and Punk kept up his celebration.
Suddenly, Kevin Nash was shown in the ring with Punk. Nash hit a clothesline on Punk, then hit a Jackknife Powerbomb. Nash left Punk laying in the ring and he left through the crowd. Triple H was stunned up on the ramp and started to walk back towards the ring.
Surprise, surprise! Alberto Del Rio's music hit and he came down with a new referee.
Winner: CM Punk wins via pinfall over John Cena to become the undisputed WWE Champion.
Alberto Del Rio vs. CM Punk
Del Rio officially cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase on the already beaten down CM Punk. Del Rio hit a step-up enziguiri kick, then made the official pinfall cover to become new WWE Champion.
Del Rio headed up the ramp, celebrating with the championship belt. Meanwhile, Hunter talked to the referee about what just happened. Jerry Lawler was puzzled about why Nash had come out to attack Punk. Summerslam ended with Del Rio celebrating on the top of the ramp as the new champion.
Winner: Alberto Del Rio wins via pinfall over CM Punk to become the new WWE Champion.

Summerslam 2011 Results:
Rey Mysterio, Kofi Kingston & John Morrison vs. R-Truth, Alberto Del Rio & The Miz
Late in this one, the heels were working over Kofi. He eventually made a hot tag to Rey Mysterio. Rey came in on fire around the 8minute mark. He went for a double 619 on Miz and Truth, but Del Rio grabbed Rey's leg from outside the ring. Morrison and Kofi ended up taking out Del Rio and Miz on the outside. Rey was able to isolate Truth in the ring and hit his diving splash move for the pinfall win. Rey will get a WWE championship rematch on Raw Monday night.Winners: Rey Mysterio, Kofi Kingston & John Morrison win via pinfall over R-Truth, Alberto Del Rio & The Miz.

Sheamus vs. Mark Henry
Late in the match, Sheamus measued Henry for a Brogue Kick. Henry avoided it, but Sheamus scored the kick on him moments later, sending Henry out to the floor. On the outside, Henry gained control and smashed Sheamus through the crowd barrier. Sheamus was unable to get back to the ring to beat a countout, giving Henry the victory by countout.Winner: Mark Henry wins due to countout of Sheamus.

Late in the match, Bryan was able to get the LeBell Lock on Barrett. Wade was about to tap but managed to reach the bottom rope to break it. The action went to the top rope, with Wade crotching Bryan on the corner, then hitting a flying clothesline. From there, Barrett hit Wasteland on Bryan for the win.Winner: Wade Barrett wins via pinfall over Daniel Bryan.
Randy Orton vs. Christian
