WWE Superstars Results 01/05/12:

The latest WWE Superstars results for 01/05/12 opened with commentator Scott Stanford hyping the main event of Ezekiel Jackson vs. Jinder Mahal to start off the new year. Air Boom arrived out for the opening match as Josh Matthews and Stanford appeared briefly on camera.

Evan Bourne vs. Epico

Kofi Kingston accompanied his tag team partner Bourne to the ring for the first match of the night. Epico arrived out next, accompanied by Primo and Rosa Mendes.

Bourne managed to gain the advantage after several big moves including a double knees to the chest jump from the corner. Rosa got on the apron after a near fall to distract a bit. Bourne and Epico traded more near falls with Bourne able to deliver a fast kick to knock Epico to the mat. From there, he went to the corner area, but Primo came over to distract. Kofi rushed over and jumped off the apron to take out Primo, then Bourne fought off Epico before hitting Air Bourne.

Winner: Evan Bourne won via pinfall over Epico.

They showed a replay of highlights from the first-ever Royal Rumble in 1988. Hacksaw Jim Duggan won the match after eliminating One Man Gang.

Mason Ryan vs. JTG

Stanford speculated that Tamina wasn't ringside tonight due to the Usos displeasure with her seeing JTG lately. Early on, JTG tried to jump at Ryan, but he caught him and hit a fallaway slam to toss JTG across the ring.

Later, JTG had a side headlock on Ryan, but Mason powered out after getting to his feet. JTG tried to whip him, but got reverse-whipped and then backdropped before receiving multiple clotheslines from Ryan. Ryan clotheslined him hard in the corner, then came from off the ropes to boot him down. Ryan put a Full nelson on JTG and turned it into a backslam finisher.

Winner: Mason Ryan won via pinfall over JTG.

A WWE Did You Know? Factoid came up on the screen saying that the WWE Network of Twitter profiles has over 15 million followers, led by The Rock with other 1 million followers.

Yoshi Tatsu vs. Tyson Kidd

Early on, Yoshi gained control after leapfrogging Kidd then clotheslining him out of the ring. Yoshi went for the baseball slide dropkick, but Kidd jumped onto the apron with a kick to Yoshi's head to regain control.

Later in the match, Yoshi missed on his flying kick from the corner. Tyson went for a springboard moonsault from the ropes onto Yoshi on the mat but missed. Yoshi followed up with a roundhouse kick to get the pinfall win.

Winner: Yoshi Tatsu won via pinfall over Tyson Kidd.

Highlights from Raw were shown for the main event 6-man elimination tag match. Kane didn't show up for his team, so it was Cena, Ryder and Big Show vs. Jack Swagger and Mark Henry. Big Show and Mark Henry received a double countout to eliminate themselves early. With just Swagger left, Cena managed to get the win on Swagger using Five Knuckle Shuffle and the AA. Post-match saw Kane appear as he popped up through the ring while Cena had gone up the ramp looking for him.

As Cena rushed back to the ring, Kane punched him down from the apron then put a hand over his mouth until Cena passed out on the floor. Kane got back in the ring to grab Ryder, trying to pull him down into the hole in the ring. However, Cena managed to get back into the ring and grabbed Ryder's arms to pull him free. Moments later a huge pyro explosion shot flames up from the hole in the ring, leaving Cena and Ryder stunned.

Ezekiel Jackson arrived out for the main event match.

Ezekiel Jackson vs. Jinder Mahal

Early "U-S-A" chants broke out as Mahal finally took off his turbine before the bell sounded. Jackson won the early power contest, shoving Jinder down to the mat. Later, Jinder managed to get behind Zeke with a waist lock, but Jackson elbowed to get out of it.

Jackson dominate most of the match, with Jinder trying to kick his leg out. Jackson still withstood it and started overpowering Mahal. Moments later, Mahal used a series of neckbreakers for a near fall. He used a side Russian leg sweep and a headlock to try to wear down Zeke more.

Later in the match, Mahal escaped the Torture Rack and was able to shove Jackson shoulder-first into the corner ringpost. From there, Jinder sat on Jackson's back and put on the Camel Clutch submission. Jackson tried to withstand it but was ultimately forced to tap out.

Winner: Jinder Mahal won by submission over Ezekiel Jackson.
