John Cena came out for the opening in-ring segment talking about tonight’s big six man tag match and then how he’ll be defending the title at Battleground in a Fatal Fourway. Roman Reigns came out to interject his comments, with Cena thanking him for last week and discussing that they’ll be partners tonight but then opponents on Sunday. Their other partner, Dean Ambrose, showed up on the Titantron to speak. Suddenly, Kane was shown over his shoulder and then Orton and Rollins appeared, with all three giving Ambrose a beatdown backstage. After a break, Cole and the commentators recapped what happened to Ambrose and said he was taken to a medical facility to get checked out.

The Miz defeated Sheamus in a non-title match via pinfall. Sheamus had a near fall after the Irish Curse backbreaker, then Miz avoided the Brogue Kick in the corner and quickly scored a rollup pin to shock the champ.

Backstage, Orton, Rollins and Kane bragged about the beatdown they gave Ambrose ahead of the main event. They got into an argument when Orton said if they do their jobs well tonight he’ll become champ on Sunday. Triple H came in to calm everyone down from the bickering. He said as long as the title comes back to The Authority it will bring stability and control. He told them to build trust tonight.

Dolph Ziggler defeated Fandango via pinfall. Ziggler hit the Fameasser late for the win. Summer Rae and Laylan were at the announce table during the match which caused a distraction. Post-match, the divas came into the ring and danced for Ziggler to taunt Fandango.

They had a backstage altercation involving Adam Rose and Damien Sandow with a Sonic product pitch thrown in.

The Usos came out to the stage for a tag team match, but were suddenly attacked from behind by Harper and Rowan. They beat up The Usos down towards the ringside area, then brought one of the two in the ring for a double slam move before staring into the camera. Cole said they’ve made a statement before their title match this Sunday.

They had a segment involving Lana and Rusev, with Swagger and Zeb Colter. Both sides supported their respective countries and flags. Eventually, a match was set for this Sunday’s PPV, but in the process Lana slapped Zeb. Swagger tackled Rusev down to start a brawl. Eventually Swagger got the upper hand, slapping on the Patriot Lock before Rusev and Lana cleared out.

Roman Reigns was in the locker room getting ready for his match later when Cena walked in to tell him that Ambrose is out, so it will be just them against the 3 Authority members. He told Reigns to stand up and face him, and then Reigns said he’ll take out Rollins, Kane and Orton before Battleground.

Alberto Del Rio defeated Rob Van Dam via submission. Late in the match, Del Rio blocked a Five-Star Frogsplash by putting both knees up, then followed up with the Cross Arm-breaker to make RVD tap out.

Nikki Bella made her entrance, and then Stephanie McMahon came out to taunt her, blaming her sister for abandoning her. Stephanie said it should be a tag match, but instead she’ll have to fight in a handicap match. Out came Alicia Fox and Cameron as Nikki’s opponents.

Alicia Fox and Cameron defeated Nikki Bella via pinfall. Even though Nikki got in some late moves in this one, Alicia Fox eventually finished her off for the win.

Backstage, Orton talked to HHH about his distrust for Kane. Triple H assured Orton that Kane is just their pawn. He told him the plan is for Orton to leave Battleground with the title. Triple H said “you are the plan.” Orton asked, “So there isn’t a plan B?” and Triple H said “Right,” before Orton left the office.

Big E defeated Cesaro via pinfall. Kofi Kingston was ringside to watch the match. Late in this contest, Cesaro got two chairs from under the ring. He threw one towards Kofi, then went to use the second on Big E. Kofi yanked the chair from his hands. Big E then took advantage of the altercation and responded with the Big Ending to get the pinfall win.

Chris Jericho came out to the ring to talk about the recent attacks and taunts from Bray Wyatt heading into their Battleground match. Eventually, Wyatt showed up on the big screen to interrupt asking where Jericho was after he said he was going to “Save us.” After Bray blew the lantern out, the lights went out and then came back on. Harper and Rowan were in the ring to attack Jericho, but he avoided it, then escaped the ring to back up the ramp. Wyatt surprised him at the top of the ramp, knocking him down from behind and then hitting Sister Abigail on the stage before posing over Jericho.

AJ Lee defeated Eva Marie via pinfall in a non-title match. Paige was on commentary and applauded AJ on the win post-match. AJ got up on the commentary table and sat down, taking a headset to talk to Paige. They both complimented each other, before AJ said bye and left.

Bo got back in the ring as the ref made a ten count to give Bo the win. Post-match, he did a victory lap then got on the mic, walking up to Khali. He told his “little buddy” he may have lost tonight but, then Khali chopped him in the head causing the mic to fall out of Bo’s hand.

Ric Flair came to the ring for a quick promo/interview with Renee Young, saying his pick for Sunday is John Cena. He played up to the VA crowd a bit, before Roman Reigns came to the ring for the main event. Cena was out next and gave Flair one of the two title belts before he rushed to the ring.

John Cena & Roman Reigns vs. Kane, Seth Rollins and Randy Orton was a no-contest. Late in the match, Kane got in the ring to take a swing at Cena, with Cena ducking and Orton getting punched. Reigns tried to Spear Kane, but Kane moved aside allowing Reigns to tackle Cena down instead. Moments later, Orton hit the RKO on Kane, then posed up on the ring corner as his music played. As he got back down, Reigns speared Orton before the end of the show.
