Raw Preview 10.12.09

Tonight's episode of Raw will not only feature the lovely WWE Divas, but two special guest host female celebrities, with Nancy O'Dell and Maria Menounos. These two smart, powerful and charitable women come from the show Access Hollywood. O'Dell has been recently spreading the word about Lou Gehrig's Disease, while Maria Menounos has an upcoming comedy show in 2010 called "Serial Buddies". These two women are no strangers to the entertainment scene, but the sports entertainment landscape of Raw might be a different story. How will they handle their hosting duties for the longest running episodic show in cable TV history?

Last week's show saw Randy Orton return to Raw from Hell in a Cell as the brand new WWE Champion. Orton gloated about his Hell in a Cell cage victory against John Cena, claiming it was done in clean fashion with no cheating, outside interference, weapon use or cheap wins. John Cena came to the ring to congratulate the new champ and then suggested that when it comes to sports, Cena vs Orton is "the rivalry" right now. Cena suggested they also needed one final match, the match of all matches, which would decide the rivalry. That match would be the 60 minute Iron man match, which has seen previous stars including Stone Cold Steve Austin and Bret Hart battle in it. This WWE title match carries an additional stipulation set up by Randy Orton; should John Cena lose the Iron man match at Bragging Rights, he also must leave WWE Raw. Now the stakes are high for this upcoming match, but how will each superstar prepare in the coming weeks?

Last week's show also saw several big victories. First up, The Miz was able to successfully defeat Kofi Kingston and earned a clean victory by pinfall to become new United States Champion. This will be Miz' first singles title in his young WWE career. Also, Jack Swagger was able to defeat Evan Bourne. Swagger claims that he will not lose another match for the rest of 2009, so he is now 1-0. And finally, D-Generation X did battle with the Unified tag team champs, Chris Jericho and Big Show. With guest host Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers blocking his exit, Jericho was brought back to the ring by DX, where he was defeated in a non-title match. This match would seem to make DX the top contenders for the titles, but will they get a shot at Bragging Rights or before then?
