Smackdown Preview 10.09.09
As of this past Sunday, the title picture has certainly changed in the ranks of the WWE, including the World Heavyweight Title. At Hell in a Cell, the Undertaker was victorious as he was able to Tombstone CM Punk and recapture the title from the straight-edge champion. It will be hard for Punk to argue against the loss, as he lost in Undertaker's personal playground, the Hell in a Cell. Now with Undertaker enjoying another title reign, will Punk come forward to request his title rematch? Will Punk's rematch occur at the upcoming Bragging Rights Pay-Per-View, or sooner?
The Unified Tag Team Champions Chris Jericho & the Big Show were also victorious at Hell in a Cell as they defended their titles against Batista and Rey Mysterio. Mysterio had just made his return to WWE and Smackdown to join Batista as his tag team partner. Unfortunately for him, he was on the losing end when he was pinned in the match. Just one night later on Monday Night Raw JeriShow was forced to compete in a non-title match against D-Generation X. DX was able to pull off a huge win after dumping Big Show into the announcer's area, and collecting Jericho for the big win in the ring. With that loss, you have to wonder if DX has moved into the #1 Contender spot for the Unified Tag titles, or if Batista and Mysterio will continue to challenge. Who will be the next challengers for Chris Jericho and Big Show's gold?
Hell in a Cell saw two more Smackdown matches as Drew McIntyre made his successful Pay-Per-View debut by defeating R-Truth. The two had been involved in a series of run-ins over the past month or so on Smackdown, with McIntyre usually ambushing Truth. Now with Hell in a Cell, McIntyre may have officially won their battle, or is it just beginning? Also, John Morrison successfully defended the Intercontinental Title against Dolph Ziggler, who has failed several times in his quest to capture the gold. With Ziggler having lost so many times, will he continue to be qualified for a title shot, or will Morrison have a new challenger to contend with?
