WWE Hell in a Cell 2009 Predictions
Arriving rather quickly after last month's "Breaking Point" Pay-Per-View, is the October PPV called "Hell in a Cell". This PPV will be held on Sunday, October 4th, 2009 live from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Featured on the card are three Hell in a Cell matches, fought inside the enclosed steel cage structure that lowers down around the ring. Opponents will bruise and bloody each other until one wins by pinfall or submission. Two of these matches take place with major titles on the line; John Cena defends the WWE title against Randy Orton, while Undertaker tries to reclaim the World Heavyweight Title from CM Punk. Meanwhile, D-Generation X will look to stop Legacy from their plans to destroy the longtime fan-favorite DX tag team. I think we'll see at least two titles switch hands at the event... Here's a look at WWE Characters the Blog predictions for Sunday's big event.
Results will be posted here starting at 8PM EST on Sunday night!
Prediction: D-Generation X wins via pinfall over Legacy.
Dolph Ziggler vs. John Morrison
The popular guy here is John Morrison, current Intercontinental Champion, who has the momentum heading into this contest. However, it seems fishy that there's been so much negativity against Ziggler. That almost makes you think there's going to be a swerve here with Ziggler winning the title. He's been caught in controversy thanks to Michelle McCool and Layla's little spy photos they took of him. He's also been insulted by Morrison and taunted by the fans and unable to get a word in on the Abraham Washington show. With all that against him, I'll take Ziggler to win with a clean pinfall for his first ever Intercontinental title reign.
Prediction: Dolph Ziggler wins by pinfall over John Morrison to become new Intercontinental Champion.
Alicia Fox vs. Mickie James
Mickie James is the storied divas veteran heading into this matchup, holding the prized Divas championship. Alicia Fox is the new girl on the block, a protege of Michelle McCool from Smackdown. While Fox is talented, I don't see her as the next divas champion. It seems as if Mickie is holding onto the belt to await the return of former champ, Maryse. Look for Mickie James to retain here and continue her reign.
Prediction: Mickie James retains the WWE Divas title.
Rey Mysterio & Batista vs. Chris Jericho & Big Show
As the WWE Universe has seen, the tag team division was really broken up thanks to the draft and the combining of the two sets of tag titles. With that in mind, Jericho and Show have only defended against one true tag team, Cryme Tyme, with the rest being more "makeshift" tag teams just thrown together. MVP & Mark Henry first, now Batista and Mysterio. The most recent competitors haven't wrestled as tag team partners in quite some time, due to being separated by different shows, or out with injuries (or supensions). Mysterio is coming back from his 30 day, will the WWE reward him with a tag title? Possibly Mysterio & Batista lose here by some cheap move, but win the titles at the next event or on Smackdown.
Prediction: Jericho & Show retain the tag team titles due to a cheap shot move.
The Miz vs. Jack Swagger vs. Kofi Kingston
The result of this match should be interesting. Kofi's held onto the title for quite some time now. His predecessors included MVP and Shelton Benjamin, both of whom enjoyed lengthy reigns as well. I believe this will be where he drops the title. The Miz would make a great heel champ, but it seems less likely to go his way. Based on pure abilities, Swagger seems like the likely successor as he's been groomed as a champion so let's see if he pulls it off.
Prediction: Jack Swagger wins the United States title.
Randy Orton vs. John Cena
These two have been battling back and forth for several Pay-Per-Views now, with Cena finally reclaiming the WWE title at the previous PPV, Breaking Point. It would be strange to see Cena carry the title for just under a month, and according to some recent rumors on wrestling sites, he's the clear winner here. Cena is my sure fire pick to survive his first Hell in a Cell and emerge victorious with the WWE belt still his.
Prediction: John Cena retains the WWE Title.
Undertaker vs. CM Punk
The question here is, will WWE give Undertaker another ridiculously short title reign? Rumors and news reports say he's having hip problems and it's hobbling his performance in the ring. Hell in a Cell is Undertaker's match, but I believe a win for Punk gives him yet another thing to preach about having accomplished. He can say he got rid of Hardy, beat Undertaker by submission and beat him in Hell in a Cell. He'll find some cheap way to win, or if Teddy Long has a death wish, he'll throw the match again. I just don't see Undertaker winning here with the news of his injury. Then again, WWE may decide to pad his resume some more since his career may end in a year's time.
Prediction: CM Punk retains the World Heavyweight Title.
So we've got just about every title on the line for Hell in a Cell with the exception of Michelle McCool's Womens title and Christian's ECW championship. Should be an interesting event, but the major champions, Cena & Punk, should continue their reigns. Check here at the blog for full results updated starting Sunday at 8PM EST through 11PM EST!

D-Generation X vs. Legacy
This is considered the best of 3 deciding match in this feud which has been ongoing. It started with HHH, and then he was able to convince buddy Shawn Michaels to return to WWE from a job flipping burgers to join him for a DX reunion. Legacy wants to end DX once and for all. At the Breaking Point PPV they made Shawn Michaels tap out, gaining a huge win in this series. DX isn't done with yet, and in this match expect the popular tag team to emerge victorious, showing Legacy how these matches are done. Legacy may have the last win, but they don't have the experience that Michaels and HHH do inside the looming Hell in a Cell structure. Could be a great match on the card, but it's tough to see Legacy emerging victorious here.Prediction: D-Generation X wins via pinfall over Legacy.
Dolph Ziggler vs. John Morrison
Intercontinental Title win
