WWE Superstars Results 12/16/10

WWE Superstars Results 12/16/10:

Superstars opened with Jack Korpela and Matt Striker from Smackdown handling commentary. JTG arrived out for the opening match.

JTG vs. Curt Hawkins

Early on in the match, JTG had the advantage. He went for the Mug Shot from the corner, but Hawkins countered and tossed JTG over the side. JTG hit the apron and fell to the floor, then Hawkins came out to deliver more punishment on his back.

After a break, Hawkins was in control with a headlock, but JTG got to his feet and slammed Hawkins back to the mat. Moments later, JTG had momentum as he was able to hit the mug shot on Hawkins. Hawkins got him with a kick to the knee to bring JTG back down. Hawkins tried to go at him again, but JTG hit him with the Shout Out for the win.

Winner: JTG wins via pinfall over Curt Hawkins.

Striker introduced the highlights from this past week's episode of NXT Season 4. Byron Saxton won the karaoke challenge singing Shawn Michaels' "Sexy Boy." Later in the night, Johnny Curtis won the obstacle course when he was given a re-do. Curtis gained two immunity points for winning as he edged out Derrick Bateman.

Darren Young vs. Zack Ryder

CM Punk and Scott Stamford were now on hand from Raw to cover the matchup. Stamford mentioned that they're just three days ahead of TLC in Houston, TX. Also, Saturday is the "Tribute to the Troops" Special.

During the match, Young escaped a headlock on the mat, then charged towards Ryder in the corner. Ryder caught him with a boot to the face though and had a near fall moments later. Young got the momentum back and hit a Gut Buster after a series of moves, but Ryder kicked out of the pinfall. Moments later, Ryder hit the Rough Ryder to capture the victory.

Winner: Zack Ryder wins via pinfall over Darren Young.

Superstars returned with an Alberto Del Rio highlight video package. CM Punk thanked Diddy Dirty Money for providing the theme song for "Tribute to the Troops," "Coming Home" from the album "Last Train to Paris."

Scott Stamford introduced highlights of the 2010 Slammy Awards this past Monday. Winners included Pee Wee Herman, CM Punk, Michael Cole, John Cena and Wade Barrett. Barrett re-hired Cena later in the evening after announcing they'd face off in a Chairs match at TLC PPV. Cena received a beat down from Nexus and then was bashed by Barrett with a chair. Later in the night, Cena took on Otunga, beat him with the STF, then smashed a chair on him multiple times to show Barrett what could happen to him Sunday.

Scott Stamford and CM Punk ran down several of the matches scheduled for Sunday's TLC Pay-Per-View.

Drew McIntyre made his ring entrance prior to a commercial break.

Yoshi Tatsu vs. Drew McIntyre

Early on, McIntyre backed into the corner, seeming unimpressed by his opponent. McIntyre took Yoshi to the other corner, until the ref backed him away. Drew was able to knock Yoshi down with a big shoulder block moments later. Yoshi was able to regain control moments later in the corner with a barrage of kicks to McIntyre to knock him down.

A near fall by Yoshi failed, with Drew trying to slam Yoshi backwards. Yoshi flipped down to his feet and went for a roundhouse kick, but Drew ducked and rolled out of the ring. On the outside, Drew and Yoshi fought with Yoshi slamming Drew into the barrier. Moments later, Drew got the upperhand to leave Yoshi on the outside as Superstars went to commercial.

Post-break, Drew was still in control of things in the ring, working on the hurt arm of Yoshi Tatsu. Later in the match, Yoshi managed to toss him out of the ring. Drew got back in with Yoshi taking him down with chops, then using a variety of spin kicks. Drew tried to shove Yoshi away, but Yoshi came back with a heel kick and a near fall. Drew grabbed the ropes to prevent the pinfall. Yoshi was able to hold onto the top rope from the apron and delivered a roundhouse to Drew to level him. He went to the top rope for a flying spin kick, but Drew avoided it. Drew was the first one up and grabbed Yoshi to hit the Future Shock DDT in dramatic fashion.

Winner: Drew McIntyre wins via pinfall over Yoshi Tatsu.
