WWE Superstars Results 01/06/11

WWE Superstars Results 1/6/11:

Jack Korpela and Matt Striker were on hand to provide commentary for the opening Smackdown match. JTG arrived out first to get the crowd going before his opponent Tyler Reks arrived out next.

JTG vs. Tyler Reks

Korpela noted that JTG demanded a rematch so he can show the WWE Universe he's able to defeat Reks. Reks managed to take control early in the contest and applied a bodyscissors to JTG on the mat. JTG started to elbow his way out, but Reks grabbed his ribcage/midsection in another submission hold. JTG rallied to try to get to his feet but Reks powered him back down.

Moments later, JTG started his comeback and had a move where he grabbed Reks and tossed him into the lower corner turnbuckle. JTG followed up with a huge dropkick on Reks in the corner for a near fall.

In the closing moments of the match, Reks rolled under the bottom rope. JTG went over to retrieve him, but Reks yanked JTG against the top rope causing him to stagger back. Reks got back into the ring and hit the Burning Hammer on JTG for the win. Post-match, Reks yelled at JTG down on the mat.

Winner: Tyler Reks wins via pinfall over JTG.

Chris Masters vs. Curt Hawkins

A second Smackdown match aired on WWE Superstars prior to the Raw portion of the show. Korpela questioned if Chris Masters' shoulder would be in decent condition after it was hurt last week.

Hawkins managed to get Masters down early with several moves including a back slam and then a kick to the back shoulder area of Masters. Hawkins cinched in a head and armlock to followup.

However, Masters made his comeback. After Hawkins came from against the ropes, Masters hit a Powerbomb for a near fall. Masters got on the corner and hit a huge shoulder block to take down Hawkins. Masters signaled for the Masterlock, and went for it but Hawkins got over to the corner to break it, smashing Masters into the corner. Hawkins got up on the corner, but Masters again grabbed him in the hold, locking the Masterlock on and bringing Hawkins into center ring to get the win.

Winner: Chris Masters wins due to submission over Curt Hawkins.

Korpela and Striker introduced highlights from this past Tuesday's NXT on WWE.com. This latest show was the first rookie elimination for Season 4. They showed highlights of each of the rookies competing in various competitions. At the end of the show it was revealed that Jacob Novak was the first to be sent off the show. Earlier that night, Dolph Ziggler had won an over-the-top-rope battle royal to get the right to trade away his rookie. He decided to trade away Novak for Byron Saxton. The next elimination will happen in two weeks.

Yoshi Tatsu vs Zack Ryder

Early on in the match commentator Scott Stanford noted that if you send Ryder a Tweet with a pic of yourself wearing his T-shirt, he'll send you an autographed picture of himself.

Early on, Yoshi gained control and hit a huge over the top rope splash out onto Ryder outside the ring. He tossed Ryder back in and got on the corner, but Ryder got back up, grabbed Yoshi from the corner and slammed him off the top rope. Yoshi bounched to the outside floor holding his neck. Ryder started using a knee to the throat to punish Yoshi some more.

Ryder set up for the Rough Ryder after a failed pinfall. He went for it but Yoshi ended up ducking under him, then turning around to hit the roundhouse kick on Ryder for the win.

Winner: Yoshi Tatsu wins via pinfall over Zack Ryder.

Superstars returned with a Dolph Ziggler promotional highlight video.

Matthews and Stanford introduced the Raw Rebound. It covered highlights from Monday's steel cage match to determine the #1 Contender for the WWE Title at Royal Rumble. Randy Orton ended up defeating Sheamus and Wade Barrett in the match, thanks to interference from CM Punk to prevent Barrett from climbing out, and an RKO by Orton to Sheamus. Orton walked out the door to get the victory and will face The Miz at the Royal Rumble for the WWE Title.

The Bella Twins arrived out in matching purple skirts to escort Daniel Bryan to the ring. Superstars headed to commercial break before the main event tag match.

Daniel Bryan & Mark Henry vs. Tyson Kidd & Ted Dibiase

Maryse was on hand at ringside for Ted Dibiase. Late in the match, Dibiase had control as he dropkicked Daniel Bryan to the mat then repeatedly stomped on him near the ropes. Tyson Kidd soon tagged in to take control of things against Bryan. Moments later though, Bryan and Kidd collided in the air on a double cross body move. Bryan managed to get over to finally tag in Henry.

Mark Henry had repeated take downs on Tyson Kidd including a huge slam. However, Kidd rolled away as Henry went for a major splash. Dibiase tagged in to start dropping knees on Henry. However, things soon broke down after Daniel Bryan got back in.

Daniel Bryan nearly got the Lebell Lock locked on Tyson Kidd. Dibiase rushed in and kicked Bryan to break things up. Henry rushed in and took Dibiase to the outside to fight. Meanwhile in the ring, Bryan hit a huge dropkick on Kidd. Kidd was able to overcome that though and got a swinging neckbreaker move to win the match.

Post-match, the heels celebrated on the ramp with Maryse laughing and pointing to the ring and the Bellas. The Bellas and Henry checked on Bryan down on the mat.

Winners: Tyson Kidd & Ted Dibiase win via pinfall over Daniel Bryan & Mark Henry.
