Smackdown Preview 01.23.06
Tonight the "Moscow Mauler", Vladimir Kozlov will once again enter the ring to do battle with the best competition Smackdown has to offer. Kozlov will meet his match as he faces none other than The Game in a one-on-one match. Currently Kozlov is undefeated but has been out of the WWE title picture. Triple H is of course a 12-time Champion so this match has the makings of a classic. Then again in the past few weeks, Triple H has done battle with and attacked The Big Show. Last week saw Triple H interfere in Show's Last Man Standing match against MVP. After a Sledgehammer shot from HHH, MVP collected his first victory in some time. Big Show will surely be a sore loser and upset, but will he make his presence felt during the big match on Smackdown? Will Kozlov continue his winning ways against The Game?
Last week also saw another tragic incident involving WWE Champion Jeff Hardy at Smackdown in Omaha, Nebraska. Edge hosted a special edition of his in-ring interview show, "The Cutting Edge" and introduced Hardy as his special guest. As Jeff made his way down to the ring, his pyrotechnics display exploded in his face causing Jeff to writhe around in pain in the ramp. Medical staff and wrestlers rushed in, and Hardy was taken away by stretcher. It was first reported as an accident, but Jeff's own brother Matt Hardy said it seems more than just a coincidence. Jeff's now been attacked in a hotel room, part of a hit and run accident, and now the pyrotechnics display. Matt also reported that Jeff's been recovering and plans to still defend his WWE title at the Royal Rumble. Will the WWE Universe find out any more about who's been behind all of the trouble Jeff Hardy has experienced lately? What will Edge and Vickie have up their sleeves for Smackdown?
Last week Smackdown also payed a final fairwell to longtime diva Victoria on last week's show as well. Victoria found herself unable to compete at her full level when her leg gave way in a Widow's Peak attempt. Michelle McCool who recently unleashed her "bad side" was able to defeat Victoria. Will Michelle continue to go after Maria now, or set her sights on Maryse's WWE Divas Championship? Also, R-Truth found himself the victim of a beatdown from The Brian Kendrick's bodyguard, Ezekiel Jackson. R-Truth and The Brian Kendrick are both participants in the 2009 Royal Rumble match. Will R-Truth seek retribution on Smackdown and get a match against the much bigger Ezekiel?
Smackdown hits the air just two nights before the 2009 Royal Rumble! Catch all the action of Smackdown at 8PM EST on MyNetworkTV.

That's too bad about Victoria. I felt like she really added a lot to the WWE with her character and it's too bad that her leg isn't holding up. It's a sad reminder that the WWE performers endure a lot of wear and tear on their bodies because of the grueling schedule they have.
