Smackdown Preview 07.30.10
Last week's show featured a #1 Contender match between Jack Swagger and Rey Mysterio in a Best 2 of 3 Falls contest. Rey looked to be reeling after Swagger kept putting the ankle lock on him. After getting disqualified for not breaking the ankle lock early, Swagger managed to win the second fall by making Rey tap out. However on the third fall, Rey was clever and managed to roll up Swagger for the winning pin. When Swagger tried to damage Rey further post-match, it was the Big Red Monster Kane coming to Rey's rescue again. In actuality, Kane was looking to damage Rey himself, but after a 619 Rey escaped the ring. Tonight Rey will battle Swagger again, in a No Disqualification match. Which superstar will win this time?
Also tonight, Layla will have her second Womens Title defense in the past two weeks. She successfully defeated Kelly Kelly at Money in the Bank, thanks to an outside fight between Tiffany and Michelle McCool. Tonight, Kelly's 'Blondtourage' pal Tiffany gets a title shot, which was ordered by GM Teddy Long. Team LayCool will need to be prepared as Tiffany looks to possibly capture her first ever Womens Title. Can the Smackdown diva do it, or will Layla continue her reign?
Several other stories are developing as Smackdown airs tonight. The Big Show continues to battle the Straight Edge Society and has no members left to unmask. Last week he revealed the mystery member as Joey Mercury. Now that Punk and Mercury are both unmasked, what will be next for Show? Also, can Matt Hardy and Christian co-exist on Smackdown, or are these two headed for a collision course?
