WWE NXT Results 08/17/10

WWE NXT Results from Bakersfield, CA:

Cole opened the show saying tonight's a very important episode of NXT with a double elimination. He sent it to the ring for tonight's co-host Jamie Keyes. She introduced each of the five remaining NXT rookies. The remaining pro mentors were up on the stage already. Husky Harris, Kaval, Michael McGillicutty, Alex Riley and Percy Watson. Matt Striker joined them all in the ring.

Striker reminded fans that by the end of tonight, just three NXT rookies will remain with a chance at becoming WWE's next breakout star. Striker said they each could have one minute to talk, except for the topic of why they shouldn't be eliminated. Percy Watson spoke first about the 3-D's including his desire and determination. Alex Riley spoke about "Alex Riley". Riley made jokes about Kaval and Lucky Cannon, then said he called Matt Striker a 'nerd' and doesn't regret it. Kaval started doing a rap and dissed several of his competitors. Husky Harris talked about the cowboy boots he was wearing, and said the devil also wears cowboy boots.

Striker said it was time for the first elimination of the evening. He said several of the pro mentors (Raw's Miz, Mark Henry, John Morrison) are currently on a tour of Asia, but they sent in absentee ballots. They flashed up on the screen all the guys and then stopped on a picture of Percy Watson. Fans in the crowd booed as Showtime looked upset. He thanked the WWE Universe for the votes and his Pro Mentor MVP. Watson gave a passionate, classy speech and shook hands with Kaval saying he'd be the winner.

Michael McGillicutty vs. Zack Ryder

Kofi Kingston was up on the apron to coach his rookie. Late in the match, McGill was on a tear as he took down Ryder multiple times. Ryder got to the corner where McGill flew at him with a body splash. He began pounding on Ryder until the ref pulled him away. From there it was a backflip as Ryder came from the ropes. Ryder was on the apron and was able to snap McGillicutty against the top rope as he dropped off to the floor. Ryder got back in and hit the Rough Ryder to finish off McGillicutty.

Winner: Zack Ryder wins via pinfall over Michael McGillicutty.

Josh Matthews and Michael Cole discussed Summerslam's World Heavyweight Title match. They showed a few still shots from the match, including Undertaker sitting up from inside the casket at ringside. They showed the two brothers putting their hands on each other's throats. Kane eventually used a Tombstone to leave Undertaker layed out in the ring. Cole said Kane plans to explain on Friday's Smackdown why he did what he did to Undertaker.

Backstage LayCool were giving cheers for their rookie Kaval to get him psyched up for a match. They sent him out after a "Win!" on 3 yell together. Kaval left and Michelle confronted Layla, asking her about the kiss she gave him two weeks ago. Layla played it down saying she was helping him out and is just a passionate person. Michelle said they'd be cute together. Layla said she just likes to close her eyes and hear him talk. Layla walked off as Michelle said that was weird. Just then, Husky Harris walked up to Michelle and said "do you believe in love at first sight, or should I walk by again?" Michelle told him to walk by again and walked off.

Kaval vs. Husky Harris

Cody Rhodes accompanied his rookie Husky to the ring, and Team LayCool came to the ring with Kaval. Kaval had an early guillotine submission locked in but Harris got to the ropes.

As the match wound down, Harris had a not-so-pretty slam move with Kaval barely kicking out. Moments later, Harris came from against the ropes to kick Kaval. He went for his slam move a second time, but Kaval countered with a DDT to the mat. From there, Kaval climbed up on the corner and jumped off to drive both his feet into Harris' chest for the pinfall win.

Winner: Kaval wins via pinfall over Husky Harris.

Kofi Kingston vs. Alex Riley

They showed Daniel Bryan facing Michael Tarver of The Nexus on last night's Raw. Alex Riley and The Miz showed up to distract him, and then gave him a beatdown outside the ring.

Michael McGillicutty accompanied Kofi to the ring for the second pro vs rookie match of the night. During the match, Kofi pummeled Riley in the corner, then ducked his clothesline attempt. Kofi had a number of takedowns including a double chop down to hit the Boom Boom leg drop. From there he began to signal for his Trouble in Paradise. Riley stumbled over from the corner and got kicked in the face. Kofi with the pinfall victory.

Winner: Kofi Kingston wins via pinfall over Alex Riley.

NXT returned with highlights from Summerslam Axxess and other recent events connected with Summerslam.

Cole and Matthews intro'd highlights from last night's Raw. They showed the Nexus dominating in a series of matches except their last one which Darren Young lost to John Cena. Cena managed to get out of the ring and Nexus gave a beatdown to Young, signaling they were done with him as a member of the group.

Matt Striker had commentators Matthews and Cole in the ring to say who should be the winner of NXT Season 2 and who should be eliminated next. Surprisingly both guys said that Kaval should go and Alex Riley should be the winner.

When NXT returned Striker had the rookies lined up in front of the ring. It was time for the second elimination of the night. They did the rotating pictures of the four remaining rookies on the Titantron until it stopped on Husky Harris. Cody Rhodes got up incensed by his rookie getting eliminated and started going off on the pros, the fans and then each of the other rookies. He went one-by-one to Riley, then McGillicutty and then kicked Kaval in the groin. Husky and Rhodes began to pound away on Kaval.

That brought MVP and Kofi down to the ring to intervene. They chased off Rhodes and tried to restrain Harris. He kept fighting Kofi, so they eventually punched him down. Kaval got himself back together then got into the ring and jumped off the corner to take down Harris. LayCool was at ringside now, screaming at Harris "that's what you get". All of the pros and rookies were in a crazy scene to close out NXT. Rhodes and Harris backed up the ramp still angry and shouting at others.

WWE NXT Results 08/03/10

NXT Results from Laredo, TX:

They opened with highlights from last week's elimination as the latest WWE Poll was revealed. Eli Cottonwood came in last, and when asked for comments he attacked his fellow NXT rookies. He finally walked backstage and shoved his pro John Morrison on the way, before rushing back down to the ringside area to attack NXT rookies again.

Michael Cole and Josh Matthews were on hand for the open, 2 weeks away from Summerslam. Striker was in the ring to welcome everyone before introducing each of the remaining six NXT rookies: Alex Riley, Kaval, Percy Watson, Lucky Cannon, Michael McGillicutty and Husky Harris. They all joined Striker in the ring. Striker said tonight the rookies are going to compete in a kissing contest. He then had Team LayCool come to the ring. They got out of the chairs on the stage and put on extra lipstick.

LayCool got in the ring to give the rules saying each of them has to kiss the longest, most passionate and softest. Husky Harris went first with Michelle saying Harris had to sweep her off her feet. Michelle told Harris to close his eyes and pucker up, but then said no it won't be LayCool they get to kiss, it's the 1993 Homecoming queen Margarita. The overweight woman came down who appeared to have all sorts of blemishes on her face.

Harris leaned Margarita back and kissed her quick, then started falling against the ropes gagging. McGillicutty went second and licked her face then fell against the ropes next. Lucky Cannon went third and seemed to woo the crowd and LayCool. Next up was Percy Watson who removed his glasses first. Michelle had to push Watson into her face. LayCool had their rookie Kaval go next, but Layla grabbed him and planted one on him that sent him stumbling back. They still made him kiss Margarita and he downed a bunch of Tic Tacs after. The final kisser was Alex Riley and he planted a long kiss on her before falling back to the mat. Margarita chose Lucky as the winning kisser. LayCool told the rookies they won halitosis, gingavitis, cooties and athlete's foot.

Kaval vs. Husky Harris

A rematch from just last week took place with LayCool on the apron as well as Cody Rhodes. Matthews noted another voting period opens on WWE.com until next week. During the match, Kaval managed to jump up on Harris' shoulders before dropkicking him. Harris fell to the outside, so Kaval tried to dive over the ropes onto him. Harris caught Kaval and slammed him into the crowd barrier.

In the closing moments, Kaval had Harris in the corner and did a cartwheel towards him then tried to jump at Harris. Harris avoided it and Kaval hit the corner. From there, Harris slammed Kaval down and then did his running Senton Bomb to win it. Cody Rhodes seemed pleased with his rookie and got in the ring to raise his arm.

Winner: Husky Harris wins via pinfall over Kaval.

They rolled out The Miz talking about NXT rookie Michael McGillicutty. Miz said that he seems to want to follow in 'daddy's footsteps' but it's not that easy to get into WWE.

Ashley Valence interviewed Michael McGillicutty and Kofi Kingston backstage. She asked McGill about The Miz's comments. McGill said The Miz calling him mediocre means nothing and tonight he's going to shut him up in the ring. Just then, Lucky Cannon arrived in saying he plans to do something about Miz tonight. McGill told him to wait his turn, but Lucky wouldn't back down so they got in each other's faces.

The Miz piped up from the stage with a mic in his hand. He said as usual the focus is all on him. Miz told Lucky and McGill they could fight each other and then maybe the winner could face him. Kofi Kingston told Miz to put his money where his mouth is. Kofi said Lucky and McGillicutty fight tonight and then Miz faces the winner, tonight. Miz got upset and agreed to it, saying he'll eat them alive.

Lucky Cannon vs. Michael McGillicutty

Kofi Kingston and Mark Henry were on hand to support their NXT rookies. Matthews and Cole reviewed what Miz did to Lucky 2 weeks ago in the ring, smashing the MITB case into his gut then hitting the Skullcrushing Finale to smash Lucky face first into the briefcase.

Lucky gained control in the corner punching on McGillicutty. He tried to jump up on the corner but McGill shoved him off, then followed with a dropkick. He waited as Cannon got to his feet then ran and hit the swinging neckbreaker called 'The McGillicutter' putting him at 6-0. McGillicutty will face The Miz later on.

Winner: Michael mcGillicutty wins via pinfall over Lucky Cannon.

When NXT returned, Matthews and Cole reviewed the upcoming Summerslam 2010 PPV matches. They include Rey Mysterio vs Kane for the World Heavyweight title and Sheamus vs Randy Orton with the WWE title on the line. Also Team WWE faces Team Nexus in a 7-on-7 elimination match.

Matt Striker was up on stage to ask which pro on NXT is doing the worst job on the show. Kofi suggested that LayCool is doing the worst job of them all because they put Kaval in a pink snuggie. LayCool said its Kofi Kingston because WWE Universe loved Kaval's pink Flawless T. Mark Henry said the worst pro is the guy with the first elimination, Zack Ryder. Cody Rhodes said its the guy whose Intercontinental title he's going to take away, Kofi Kingston. Zack Ryder got up to give his thoughts but was interrupted by The Miz. Miz said all of the other Pros are the worst. Miz and Morrison got into a shouting match which Miz eventually overtook. He told them to sit back and watch as he guides his rookie to a win next. Riley arrived out to the ring before commercial.

They showed a clip from WWE.com of Percy Watson saying that he has a problem with Alex Riley talking down to people. Watson said he doesn't like Riley's poor mentality backstage. Watson called him a Junior Varsity villain.

"Showtime" Percy Watson vs. Alex Riley

The Miz and MVP were up on the apron corners to root on their rookies. Watson had several impressive takedowns on Riley, but A-Ri managed to ram him through the ropes, leaving Watson hanging through the middle. Riley clocked him with an outside punch before returning to the ring.

Riley whipped Watson to the corner then charged at him. Watson turned things around by jumping up and doing a reverse Sunset Flip for a pinfall. Riley kicked out. Watson went over and pounded on Riley in the opposite corner, but Riley escaped and grabbed Percy's tights, then tossed Watson face-first into the turnbuckle. From there, Riley 'dismissed' Watson with his spinning DDT move.

Winner: Alex Riley wins via pinfall over Percy Watson.

Michael McGillicutty vs. The Miz

Kofi Kingston and Alex Riley were on the apron to lend support. McGillicutty ducked a Miz clothesline and went for the schoolboy with Miz kicking out. Miz responded by kicking McGill in the gut, then coming from off the ropes to knee McGillicutty in the face. Miz continued to punish McGill against the ropes with Riley watching from ringside.

McGillicutty got another near fall with Miz kicking out and then hitting a running dropkick to send McGill out of the ring. Kofi went over to help his rookie back up. Miz came over to attack but McGill rammed him into the apron. Miz responded with a big kick to McGill's skull. Despite McGillicutty letting loose on Miz in the corner, Miz regained control and eventually hit Skullcrushing Finale to win it. McGill suffers his first ever loss. Alex Riley got in the ring to celebrate with his mentor as NXT closed.

Henry came in and again leveled Harris, so the ref tried to get the illegal guys out of the ring. During all the confusion, Rhodes was able to grab Cannon and hit Cross Rhodes for the victory.

Winners: Dashing Cody Rhodes & Husky Harris win via pinfall over Mark Henry & Lucky Cannon.

WWE NXT Results 06/29/10

WWE NXT results 6/29/10:

Host Ashley Valence was up at the top of the ramp to open the NXT show. Ashley informed fans about voting which starts tonight at 10PM on WWE.com. She introduced each of the NXT rookies one-by-one and they lined up on the top of the ramp. Ashley's intros were rather quick for the names of the rookies.

Ashley revealed that in a surprise move whoever is ranked last tonight will be eliminated. Cole and Grisham joked that maybe Ashley should be eliminated. She kicked it over to Matt Striker, who announced tonight's first Season 2 Challenge - "The Keg Carry".

Results for tonight's Keg carry:

Michael McGillicutty - Eliminated DQ (dropped keg)
Lucky Cannon - 12.7
Percy Watson - 13.0
Eli Cottonwood - 13.3
Kaval - DQ'd said the keg weighs as much as him and he wouldn't risk his body unless it's in the ring for the fans.
Titus O'Neil - DQ, tripped and fell
Husky Harris - DQ, dropped keg

Striker asked him if he got hurt on that. Husky grabbed the mic and stared at Striker telling him he was brave to ask him a question this week. Husky said to back off and he'd worry bout himself.

Alex Riley - 13.8

Lucky Cannon won immunity in the first challenge so he can't be eliminated tonight. Matthews said only four guys finished the challenge without a DQ. He and Cole sent it to the background story video on Showtime Percy Watson.

MVP vs. Husky Harris

Michael Cole mentioned that Rhodes was embarassed by Husky Harris on Smackdown this past Friday due to his weight and lack of good body image. During the match, MVP gained control after a running kick took out Harris in the corner. Harris fell to the outside and Rhodes went over to give him a pep talk as NXT went to break.

Husky was able to take control after break using a variety of moves to wear down MVP. He went for 3 pin attempts after one move with MVP kicking out. MVP finally rolled out of the way on Husky's running senton bomb attempt. MVP hit the facebuster on Husky followed by the Ballin elbow drop. He appeared to hurt his side though. Husky went at him, but MVP still was able to hit the 305 for the victory.

Dashing Cody Rhodes looked upset over his rookie's loss on the outside. Cody got in the ring as MVP was offering a handshake to Husky. Husky told him he was close to a win, then left the ring without shaking hands.

Winner: MVP wins via pinfall over Husky Harris.

Matthews and Cole talked about the big news of the night, one NXT rookie gets eliminated tonight, but it won't be Lucky Cannon. They showed the keg carry highlights with O'Neil falling and McGillicutty dropping the keg. Lucky Cannon won it with a time of 12.7 seconds.

Kaval, Lucky Cannon & Michael McGillicutty vs. Alex Riley, Titus O'Neil and Eli Cottonwood

Titus slapped Cottonwood's back to make a tag. Eli just stared at Titus before finally going to the apron.

Things got frantic as McGillicutty snuck into the ring to take down Riley. Cottonwood rushed at MCGill, but he dropped down pulling the top rope for Cottonwood to fall out. Lucky Cannon and Titus ONeil battled with Cannon scoring a dropkick. Kaval was legal and got to the top rope. He jumped off the corner and landed with both feet on Riley's chest, then pinned him for the win. Matthews called Kaval's finishing move "The Warriors Way". Team LayCool celebrated on the ramp over Kaval getting the win.

Winners: Kaval, Lucky Cannon & Michael McGillicutty win via pinfall over Alex Riley, Titus O'Neil and Eli Cottonwood.

Striker said fan voting is wrapping up on WWE.com. He told the Pros up on the stage to huddle up and put together their first vote as NXT went to break.

Recap of WWE Raw showed the attack that Ricky Steamboat, Mike Rotundo, Arn Anderson, Michael PS Hayes and Jerry Lawler suffered in the ring from the Nexus group. Steamboat was taken away on a stretcher, while others were helped to the back. Nexus was without its leader Wade Barrett who was at the WWE HQ to discuss what had happened by his NXT crew.

Matthews/Cole discussed Money in the Bank PPV with Cena vs Sheamus and the MITB match with 8 guys from Raw brand.

All the rookies were lined up in front of the ring, bottom of the ramp. Striker told Lucky Cannon he's safe tonight, but it was time to find out the official NXT Poll.

1) Kaval
2) Percy Watson
3) Michael McGillicutty
4) Alex Riley
5) Lucky Cannon
6) Eli Cottonwood

The first six were revealed. Striker had Husky Harris and Titus O'Neil step forward. He talked about how whoever is left remaining after this poll will know he just has to work harder. Time for the final reveal:

7) Husky Harris
8) Titus O'Neil

Striker interviewed Titus asking him to tell the world why they're wrong. Titus told them to take every opportunity to make their life the best they can. He got a good reception from the crowd for the classy going away speech.

Striker told the remaining contestants now the competition will intensify. Titus O'Neil gave Ryder a hug up on the ramp before heading backstage for his exit.

WWE NXT Invasion & Season 2 begins!

Everybody is still talking about Monday Night Raw from a few nights ago. The special 3-hour episode had one major revelation or surprise. Not the A-Team, or Roddy Piper, IRS or Viewer's Choice Night, but the mysterious and surprising NXT invasion that took place.

If you saw Raw, you know the deal. Wade Barrett came out during the main event to "scout" John Cena against CM Punk, or so it appeared. Soon Barrett got a closer look, and later he was joined by his former NXT competition- all seven former contestants from Season 1. They took care of Punk and Gallows, then surrounded the ring and then proceeded to give Cena the beatdown of his life.

They didn't just target Cena, they also took out Jerry Lawler, Matt Striker, Justin Roberts, The Fink, referees, WWE staff and more. Beyond that, they destroyed the Raw ring, the outside floor, the commentators table and crowd barriers. Chairs were tossed, ring ropes busted and fans' feelings hurt. It was all out carnage, and the WWE Universe is still wondering why.

Cena was taken out of the arena by stretcher, but gave us the thumbs up so we know he's not dead. However, the story is very odd. Another thing we learned on Tuesday's NXT was that Michael Cole got away. He noted he escaped through the audience but that he saw kids crying. Some have speculated that Michael Cole is behind all of this. That would be one interesting story!

Now some questions: Where were the other wrestlers? Does everyone leave the building when its the main event? Did Bret Hart turn off his flatscreen monitor and decide Punk vs Cena was too boring to watch? What about The A-Team, they're supposed to be able to take down armies aren't they? Or how about arena security? We certainly saw them try to stop Matt Hardy from getting into it with Drew McIntyre on Smackdown.

Another interesting note, former WWE commentator Jim Ross tweeted the following:

No...I'm NOT the secret leader of the renegade NXT faction. Good rumor though. I AM the leader of the BBQNATION & will sell YOU some sauce! 9:14 PM Jun 8th via txt

Ok, all that aside, it appears the NXT guys have banded together and want to make a statement. Why is the big question, and did we waste our time with Season 1 of NXT, because if they just let all the guys into WWE now after weeks of competition, it was a farce.

Season 2 started Tuesday night, and Matt Striker offered the rookies a "sincere" welcome to the WWE. Their pros then turned against them in the ring and gave them all a good beating. The point being the WWE Superstars don't take kindly to any NXT rookies encroaching on their WWE Universe. Consider that a warning.

We got a look at some of the new rookies in the ring too. Former St. John's bball star, the 7 footer Eli Cottonwood won a match with John Morrison as his partner against Titus O'Neil and Zack Ryder. Morrison won the match with the Shooting Starpress on O'Neil, who seems like quite a physical specimen.

We also saw Percy "Showtime" Watson in the ring with MVP against Cody Rhodes and Husky Harris. Harris is related to IRS, and has the look of a Blue Meanie or Dusty Rhodes in terms of his body composition. So far, the fans seem to like the quirky yet flamboyant Watson. He wears red rimmed glasses and seems like he's had too many Red Bulls as he struts down to the ring acting like a paranoid rooster. But hey, he's probably got the "IT" factor they're looking for.

We'll be meeting more of the NXT rookies over the coming weeks. Michael McGillicutty looks a lot like Jamie Noble. Cottonwood is like a cross between Great Khali and Festus, minus their girths. Alex Riley is The Miz' new protege and for this season it appears like Miz is on board and likes his rookie to win it all. The smallest of them all, Kuval (Low-Ki) is working with Team LayCool, and it's good to see some divas on the show this season.

It's hard to pick a winner for NXT Season 2 this early, but the good news for this new season is the fans will get 50% input into the voting along with the Pros. It'll be a good way to involve the fans more in the process and maybe give them a new superstar they want to watch in the ring. First voting takes place in about 3-6 weeks time, so stay tuned to WWE.com!
