WWE Main Event Results 10/10/12

WWE Main Event results from San Jose, CA:

The 10/10/12 episode of Main Event opened with Michael Cole and The Miz inside the ring again.  They plugged the main event match of Big Show vs. Randy Orton.  A video package was shown of career highlights from Show, before heading back to the locker room for an interview with Show from Josh Matthews.  Show once again held his fist up to an interviewer's face to make his menacing point of how imposing he can be.  Back in the ring, Miz talks about how it felt to be on the receiving end of a WMD punch.

Matt Striker interviewed Randy Orton backstage ahead of the main match.  Orton vowed that he will see Del Rio soon.  Orton says about his last loss to Big Show, lightning doesn't strike twice, "but a Viper can."  Orton made his ring entrance before a commercial break.

Big Show defeated Randy Orton via pinfall.  In the late stages of the main match, Orton managed to do his DDT on Show from the apron, but it was from the 3rd rope rather than the second.  Orton had a near fall from there with Show kicking out at 2.  Orton waited for Show to get to his feet and hit the RKO, but Show rolled to the outside to avoid the pin.  On the outside, Orton went for another RKO, but Show shoves him into the apron, to hurt Orton's already-injured ribs.  Show kept up the attack with elbows to Orton's back, and then a hold in the ring.  Orton finally fought out of that only to be chokeslammed for the loss.

After Show left the ring, he got on the mic to cut a promo about how he will knock Sheamus out in 2 weeks at Hell in a Cell to become World's Largest Champion.

They had an interview backstage with Sheamus saying he looks forward to his biggest challenge yet as champion facing Big Show at the PPV.

Kofi Kingston defeated Michael McGillicutty via pinfall.  On commentary, Miz spoke about Raw and how he helped make Kofi relevant again during the Larry King segment.  In the match, McGillicutty had control as he sent Kofi to the corner of the ring, but Kofi responded with a head scissors to toss McGill into the turnbuckle.  Kofi then went on a serious offensive attack, with McGill managing to duck Trouble in Paradise.  Kofi followed up with SOS to secure a pinfall for the win.

After Kofi's victory, The Miz got in the ring and handed a mic to Kofi.  He tells him "nice win," with Kofi saying "it was fun."  Miz begins to mock Kofi saying his attitude devalues Miz's IC title.  Miz tells Kofi he'll never be on his level, but Kofi says unless Miz faces him, he'll never know.  Miz tells Kofi to name a time and place.  Kofi says next week on Main Event with the title on the line.  Miz seems to shrug the idea off, but Kofi reminds him that just over a year ago, he had the IC title.  Miz agrees and Kofi says "sounds like fun."  The Miz goes for a cheap shot with his title belt, but Kofi ducks and hits the Trouble in Paradise kick.  The show ends with Kofi raising the IC title up overhead.

Matt Striker joined him on commentary as they brought up the 2012 Royal Rumble. Striker said odds makers probably have Barrett as a favorite to win the Rumble.

Yoshi Tatsu vs. Wade Barrett

Striker said for the first time this year, every single competitor at the Royal Rumble can be in the Rumble match as well. As Barrett punched away on Yoshi, Matthews said Wade should be among the top 3 favorites to win the Rumble.

Yoshi started a comeback with quick kicks on Barrett in the corner before delivering running knees, and a kick to lay out Barret for a near fall. Barrett got up and kicked Yoshi in the gut several times, then hit his big sideslam, the "Winds of Change," as Yoshi came back from the ropes.

He shoved Bryan who was talking trash at him ringside, causing a DQ, meaning Bryan retains the title. Bryan celebrated ecstatically with the fans ringside, jumping up on the crowd barrier to show off his championship belt. Big Show and Mark Henry looked bothered by it at ringside.

Striker hyped up Friday's Smackdown which will have a World Heavyweight championship rematch between Show and Bryan. This time it's no countouts, no disqualifications.

Superstars returned with highlights of the 1998 Royal Rumble. Mike Tyson was there in the audience to watch his favorite guy, Stone Cold. Austin ended up winning the Rumble by eliminating The Rock last.

Scott Stanford thanked Switchfoot for providing the 2012 Royal Rumble theme song, "Dark Horses," available at iTunes.

Time for the Raw Rebound which covered Kane's continued stalking and attack on John Cena/Zack Ryder. On Raw, he battled Cena to the outside parking area/loading dock, and escaped after tossing Cena into a pile of trash. Later on, Kane's music hit and the arena got dark as Eve was in the ring for her divas match.

Kane didn't show up, but Ryder rushed down to get Eve out of there. Back in the parking area, Zack found out his rental car had a flat tire. Eve told him to hurry up, but Kane attacked Ryder, and eventually tossed him off the loading dock onto a palette. Cena left his match to go back and try to save Ryder, but ended up getting knocked out by Kane.

Raw Preview 8/29/11

Tonight's episode of Raw comes just a few weeks ahead of the September WWE, Pay-Per-View, Night of Champions. At the event, Alberto Del Rio is scheduled to defend the WWE Championship against the new #1 contender, John Cena. Cena has called out Del Rio for a cheap title reign, since he cashed in his MITB briefcase at Summerslam on a beaten up CM Punk. Last week, Cena defeated Punk to get the #1 contender spot, but was quickly attacked post-match by an angry Del Rio. With that in mind, will Cena be looking to answer back on tonight's show?

Speaking of revenge, it's likely that CM Punk wants to extract some as well. His target is Kevin Nash, the man who has now cost him the WWE Championship and the #1 contender spot at Night of Champions. Nash punched CM Punk earlier on Raw last week, before interrupting the main event match, distracting Punk and allowing Cena to get the victory. Nash told Punk that there dispute isn't over yet, and that's apparenty after last week's incidents. What will CM Punk have to say about Kevin Nash and Triple H on tonight's episode?

Also, last week saw the crowning of brand new tag team champions. Kofi Kingston and Evan Bourne were able to defeat David Otunga and Michael McGillicutty of New Nexus to capture the championship belts. It's likely that the New Nexus former champs will want a rematch as soon as possible. Will it be on tonight's episode of Raw?

Check out WWE Raw's latest episode tonight at 9PM EST on USA!
