WWE NXT Results 08/03/10

NXT Results from Laredo, TX:

They opened with highlights from last week's elimination as the latest WWE Poll was revealed. Eli Cottonwood came in last, and when asked for comments he attacked his fellow NXT rookies. He finally walked backstage and shoved his pro John Morrison on the way, before rushing back down to the ringside area to attack NXT rookies again.

Michael Cole and Josh Matthews were on hand for the open, 2 weeks away from Summerslam. Striker was in the ring to welcome everyone before introducing each of the remaining six NXT rookies: Alex Riley, Kaval, Percy Watson, Lucky Cannon, Michael McGillicutty and Husky Harris. They all joined Striker in the ring. Striker said tonight the rookies are going to compete in a kissing contest. He then had Team LayCool come to the ring. They got out of the chairs on the stage and put on extra lipstick.

LayCool got in the ring to give the rules saying each of them has to kiss the longest, most passionate and softest. Husky Harris went first with Michelle saying Harris had to sweep her off her feet. Michelle told Harris to close his eyes and pucker up, but then said no it won't be LayCool they get to kiss, it's the 1993 Homecoming queen Margarita. The overweight woman came down who appeared to have all sorts of blemishes on her face.

Harris leaned Margarita back and kissed her quick, then started falling against the ropes gagging. McGillicutty went second and licked her face then fell against the ropes next. Lucky Cannon went third and seemed to woo the crowd and LayCool. Next up was Percy Watson who removed his glasses first. Michelle had to push Watson into her face. LayCool had their rookie Kaval go next, but Layla grabbed him and planted one on him that sent him stumbling back. They still made him kiss Margarita and he downed a bunch of Tic Tacs after. The final kisser was Alex Riley and he planted a long kiss on her before falling back to the mat. Margarita chose Lucky as the winning kisser. LayCool told the rookies they won halitosis, gingavitis, cooties and athlete's foot.

Kaval vs. Husky Harris

A rematch from just last week took place with LayCool on the apron as well as Cody Rhodes. Matthews noted another voting period opens on WWE.com until next week. During the match, Kaval managed to jump up on Harris' shoulders before dropkicking him. Harris fell to the outside, so Kaval tried to dive over the ropes onto him. Harris caught Kaval and slammed him into the crowd barrier.

In the closing moments, Kaval had Harris in the corner and did a cartwheel towards him then tried to jump at Harris. Harris avoided it and Kaval hit the corner. From there, Harris slammed Kaval down and then did his running Senton Bomb to win it. Cody Rhodes seemed pleased with his rookie and got in the ring to raise his arm.

Winner: Husky Harris wins via pinfall over Kaval.

They rolled out The Miz talking about NXT rookie Michael McGillicutty. Miz said that he seems to want to follow in 'daddy's footsteps' but it's not that easy to get into WWE.

Ashley Valence interviewed Michael McGillicutty and Kofi Kingston backstage. She asked McGill about The Miz's comments. McGill said The Miz calling him mediocre means nothing and tonight he's going to shut him up in the ring. Just then, Lucky Cannon arrived in saying he plans to do something about Miz tonight. McGill told him to wait his turn, but Lucky wouldn't back down so they got in each other's faces.

The Miz piped up from the stage with a mic in his hand. He said as usual the focus is all on him. Miz told Lucky and McGill they could fight each other and then maybe the winner could face him. Kofi Kingston told Miz to put his money where his mouth is. Kofi said Lucky and McGillicutty fight tonight and then Miz faces the winner, tonight. Miz got upset and agreed to it, saying he'll eat them alive.

Lucky Cannon vs. Michael McGillicutty

Kofi Kingston and Mark Henry were on hand to support their NXT rookies. Matthews and Cole reviewed what Miz did to Lucky 2 weeks ago in the ring, smashing the MITB case into his gut then hitting the Skullcrushing Finale to smash Lucky face first into the briefcase.

Lucky gained control in the corner punching on McGillicutty. He tried to jump up on the corner but McGill shoved him off, then followed with a dropkick. He waited as Cannon got to his feet then ran and hit the swinging neckbreaker called 'The McGillicutter' putting him at 6-0. McGillicutty will face The Miz later on.

Winner: Michael mcGillicutty wins via pinfall over Lucky Cannon.

When NXT returned, Matthews and Cole reviewed the upcoming Summerslam 2010 PPV matches. They include Rey Mysterio vs Kane for the World Heavyweight title and Sheamus vs Randy Orton with the WWE title on the line. Also Team WWE faces Team Nexus in a 7-on-7 elimination match.

Matt Striker was up on stage to ask which pro on NXT is doing the worst job on the show. Kofi suggested that LayCool is doing the worst job of them all because they put Kaval in a pink snuggie. LayCool said its Kofi Kingston because WWE Universe loved Kaval's pink Flawless T. Mark Henry said the worst pro is the guy with the first elimination, Zack Ryder. Cody Rhodes said its the guy whose Intercontinental title he's going to take away, Kofi Kingston. Zack Ryder got up to give his thoughts but was interrupted by The Miz. Miz said all of the other Pros are the worst. Miz and Morrison got into a shouting match which Miz eventually overtook. He told them to sit back and watch as he guides his rookie to a win next. Riley arrived out to the ring before commercial.

They showed a clip from WWE.com of Percy Watson saying that he has a problem with Alex Riley talking down to people. Watson said he doesn't like Riley's poor mentality backstage. Watson called him a Junior Varsity villain.

"Showtime" Percy Watson vs. Alex Riley

The Miz and MVP were up on the apron corners to root on their rookies. Watson had several impressive takedowns on Riley, but A-Ri managed to ram him through the ropes, leaving Watson hanging through the middle. Riley clocked him with an outside punch before returning to the ring.

Riley whipped Watson to the corner then charged at him. Watson turned things around by jumping up and doing a reverse Sunset Flip for a pinfall. Riley kicked out. Watson went over and pounded on Riley in the opposite corner, but Riley escaped and grabbed Percy's tights, then tossed Watson face-first into the turnbuckle. From there, Riley 'dismissed' Watson with his spinning DDT move.

Winner: Alex Riley wins via pinfall over Percy Watson.

Michael McGillicutty vs. The Miz

Kofi Kingston and Alex Riley were on the apron to lend support. McGillicutty ducked a Miz clothesline and went for the schoolboy with Miz kicking out. Miz responded by kicking McGill in the gut, then coming from off the ropes to knee McGillicutty in the face. Miz continued to punish McGill against the ropes with Riley watching from ringside.

McGillicutty got another near fall with Miz kicking out and then hitting a running dropkick to send McGill out of the ring. Kofi went over to help his rookie back up. Miz came over to attack but McGill rammed him into the apron. Miz responded with a big kick to McGill's skull. Despite McGillicutty letting loose on Miz in the corner, Miz regained control and eventually hit Skullcrushing Finale to win it. McGill suffers his first ever loss. Alex Riley got in the ring to celebrate with his mentor as NXT closed.

Winner: The Miz wins via pinfall over Michael McGillicutty.
