WWE's Scott Stanford, Jamie Keyes NXT'd, Del Rio's first loss

This past week held plenty of WWE happenings including the whole John Cena joining Nexus saga, which the WWE Universe is still buzzing about. There's also a new commentator named Scott Stanford, the first diva rookie was eliminated on NXT Season 3 via WWE.com and Alberto Del Rio took his first in-ring loss from a major superstar.

First up, new commentator Scott Stanford, who almost immediately reminds you of another guy (no longer with WWE) in Mike Adamle. He definitely has a sportscaster sound to him, but needs work on how to talk over matches with Jerry Lawler. It seemed as if he was in his training or initiation and that Lawler was trying to keep things from getting off-track. Stanford's a bit stiff, but at least he's not calling matches like Adamle was, yet. No word on where Stanford will fit in, could he be on hand just for Superstars Raw matches. Michael Cole seems to be the third wheel on Smackdown now, yet still on Raw, so this will be interesting.

There was a NXT elimination on Tuesday night. It was the first episode of NXT Season 3 on WWE.com, which was a bit choppy. Depending on your internet speed/connection you may have got the short end of the stick there. The video feed was decent but had its quirks here and there. At the end of the night, Jamie Keyes was eliminated. She definitely tried to sell her sexy self through in-ring talks but it just didn't work out. Even a kiss to Matt Striker failed her. There was also a competition which seemed fixed, as Kaitlyn got over thanks to making fun of Vickie Guerrero. Why would the fans not eat that up, giving Kaitlyn immunity? WWE creative is working Kaitlyn into the Dolph-Vickie love triangle, so they're playing the cards of keeping her around. Otherwise that story would be odd if a diva is eliminated then just shows up. Wait nevermind that's happend with the first two seasons!

How about Smackdown? Not only the debut of Edge, who Theodore Long said he personally traded for, but also Alberto Del Rio vs Rey Mysterio. It was Del Rio's first loss, as Rey made his return to avenge what Alberto did to him. Great match, and fans weren't quite sure who'd win, especially with ring announcer Ricardo trying to interfere. So Del Rio isn't undefeated, but he'll definitely be in the upper eschelon of WWE in the future. Time should eventually reveal how high he rises.

Back to Edge, it's no secret who he was likely traded for as various wrestling sites/blogs are saying it's CM Punk who will show up on Raw. One fan even suggested an interesting scenario where Punk is also the Raw GM and orchestrated the whole trade. That could be very interesting. Will Punk resume his Straight Edge gimmick on Raw as a heel or go back face? He seems to work great as a heel, and he'd be another great one for the show in addition to The Miz and Nexus.

What do you think of these current storylines? Was Jamie the right choice to go from NXT? Who was traded for Edge? Is Scott Stanford the next Mike Adamle, or do we need to give him time to develop?

After a short highlight video with a female narrator saying tonight is the first ever elimination for the NXT Season 3 divas. After the theme song by Kevin Rudolf, Michael Cole talked about how it's a big night, first ever NXT exclusively on WWE.com. He sent it up to the stage with host Matt Striker who introduced the six rookies one-by-one. Josh and Cole gave fun facts about each rookie, with Matthews noting Naomi had been offered to do a verse on the latest Lil' Wayne album.

With the divas on stage and their mentors seated behind them. Time for the first rookie diva competition of the night. Striker said since they're in cowboy company it's time to test the strength of the divas in the Bull Riding contest. Striker said they need some volunteers to show how it's done. The Bella Twins both raised their hands and Striker hand them come get on the bull to ride. Next the six rookie divas went.

Naomi 12.5 seconds
Aksana 17.9 seconds
AJ Lee 9.6 seconds
Jamie 10.9 seconds
Maxine 9.8 seconds
Kaitlyn 10.0 seconds

Aksana is tonight's competition winner with the impressive time of 17.9 seconds!

A commercial was shown for Smackdown on SyFy which will feature Rey Mysterio back to the ring to face the man who took him out, Alberto Del Rio.

Aksana vs. Maxine

Goldust was in the ring with Aksana, and he had Ted Dibiase's Million Dollar Belt with him. They showed highlights from last night's Raw where Goldust took out Ted Dibiase and then hijacked the belt. Maxine came to the ring along with her pro Alicia Fox.

Maxine hit an impressive neckbreaker during the early part of the match. Aksana staged a comeback with clotheslines and kick to the head to get a near fall on Maxine. Aksana whipped Maxine to the corner, then went for a move off the ropes but Maxine dropped her. She had the pinfall, but Aksana reversed it and grabbed the victory.

Winner: Aksana wins via pinfall over Maxine.

Josh Matthews and Michael Cole discussed last night's Raw which featured John Cena joining The Nexus. They introduced the Raw Rebound to show highlights from the show including Cena putting the Nexus armband on. Cena was forced to partner up with Michael Tarver for a tag match against Evan Bourne and Mark Henry. He refused to let Tarver tag out to him, causing them to lose the match. After he dismantled Tarver outside and inside the ring. The Raw GM sent an email telling Cena to take direction for Wade Barrett or get fired from WWE. Later backstage, Barrett ordered Cena to help him win a 20 Man over-the-top rope battle royal. Cena did so, with the match coming down to him and Barrett. Barrett ordered Cena to eliminate himself. Cena eventually got onto the apron and dropped to the floor to give Wade the win.

Josh Matthews said tonight rookie diva Kaitlyn gets to take out her aggression against her mentor Vickie Guerrero in the ring. Also tonight, another competition, the rookie diva talent show.

Striker was in the ring with the six divas for the next competition, the Rookie Diva Talent Show. Each diva would show off their talent. Cole told Matthews to wake him up in 10 minutes so he can take a nap.

Aksana went first and did pushups with her legs on the backs of her arms. The audience seemed impressed. Naomi was next and did a rap song which featured lyrics about Cena, Raw, Smackdown, Kelly and Naomi. AJ was up next and said she would give Michael Cole a personality. She was joking but then showed off her flexibility skills with a variety of poses and splits. Next up was Jamie who said her talent is turning people on. Striker had a dumbfounded look on his face afterwords.

Kaitlyn went next and said she's an artist. There was an easel in the ring and Kaitlyn started using a big marker. Her pro mentor Vickie Guerrero was up on stage looking not so happy. Kaitlyn drew some sort of picture and then revealed a stick figure of Vickie Guerrero with a big booty saying "Excuse Me!" Maxine said she wanted to take the opportunity to apologize to Hornswoggle for last week's mishap where she pushed the wheelbarrow and he fell at the end. She had a pie she had baked for Hornswoggle and asked him to come to the ring to accept it from her. Horney came to the ring and Maxine got down on her knees. As expected, Maxine got smashed in the face with a pie by Horney.

The winner thanks to crowd applause was Kaitlyn. That gave Kaitlyn her third competition win, tying AJ. Striker asked the crowd who they thought should be immune from elimination and Kaitlyn won on crowd cheers.

Cole and Matthews had the WWE Make-A-Wish video package show.

Backstage, Goldust was telling Aksana how he loves to hold onto the Million Dollar belt. Just then a man from US immigration department walked in asking for Aksana. The man gave her paperwork saying she will be deported if she doesn't comply with having working papers for the United States. Aksana got upset but Goldust told her he'd take care of things and not to worry.

Cole and Matthews brought up the unstable history of Kaitlyn and her mentor Vickie Guerrero. They showed a highlight video package including Vickie's demeaning treatment of her rookie.

Kaitlyn vs. Vickie Guerrero

Vickie was accompanied to the ring by Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler, and his music played for the entrance. Ziggler was in a suit and Nikes while Vickie wore an "Excuse Me!" blue and black jumpsuit. Ziggler watched from ringside.

Vickie did a variety of warm-up moves to prepare for the match, wasting time in the ring instead of starting the match. Kaitlyn walked over and shoved her, so Vickie shoved back. Kaitlyn hit a drop toe hold to trip Vickie to the mat. Vickie asked the ref to check her lip for blood. Vickie got a kick in and then slapped Kaitlyn, so Kaitlyn slapped back. Vickie dropped down in the corner and rolled to the outside. Kaitlyn ducked through the ropes to ask if Vickie was OK, and she grabbed her by the hair to yank her outside.

Vickie started to beat up Kaitlyn on the outside now, screaming at her to "get up!" Kaitlyn was crawling in the ring with Vickie taunting her and striking her. Vickie started choking Kaitlyn against the ropes by sitting on her on the middle rope. Vickie kept doing fake pity attempts pretending she was hurt. Finally, Kaitlyn picked her up for a slam to the mat and a near fall. Vickie backed towards the ropes and as Kaitlyn came at her, Vickie yanked her into the ropes. Vickie screamed at Dolph outside the ring asking if he was going to help her. Just then, Kaitlyn seized the moment to roll up Vickie for the surprise pinfall.

Post-match Kaitlyn was ecstatic. Ziggler climbed into the ring and Kaitlyn rushed over to hug him as Vickie was screaming. Vickie angrily yelled at Dolph then left the ring.

Winner: Kaitlyn wins via pinfall over Vickie Guerrero.

When NXT returned, Josh Matthews said there will be a replay of tonight's NXT at 7 EST on WWE.com Wednesday night. They sent it to ringside for the first ever NXT elimination. Striker reminded everyone that Kaitlyn earned immunity for tonight.

They showed pictures of the divas up on the Titantron and finally stopped on Jamie. Jamie was the first elimination of NXT Season 3. Jamie wished all of the NXT rookies the best of luck and thanked the fans and all pros.

Striker thanked everyone and said NXT will continue next week. Cole said with Jamie eliminated, there's just five more to get rid of. Matthews said one will be the winner.

Josh Matthews was still on hand for commentary and the seat next to him was empty. Matthews said Cole stayed true to his word and is gone. Just then, CM Punk arrived out in his wrestling gear with a suit coat on. He joined Matthews for commentary who handed him a picture of himself. Punk tore it up and tossed it into the crowd.

Striker talked about Jamie winning a competition and Kaitlyn also winning. Just then, Vickie started her "Excuse me" bit and came down to the ring she said it was her leadership skills that helped her win. LayCool talked about being the co-divas champs and the reason Kaval won Season 2. They started in on each of the diva rookies making wisecracks. They dissed Kelly Kelly as Smelly Kelly, so she got up and came down to the ring. She said Bella Twins aren't there for Jamie, but she and Naomi are. Kelly challenged them to a divas tag match: her, Naomi and Jamie vs LayCool and Kaitlyn. LayCool agreed, then started a shoving match with other divas in the ring.

With order restored in the ring, Striker was with the diva rookies and a bunch of chairs set up. He said "timing" is important for divas, so they will play Musical Chairs in the ring tonight. Kaitlyn was the first eliminated. Jamie was out next followed by Maxine, who got into it with Aksana. Next one eliminated was Aksana. In the final round, AJ managed to sit on the chair first before Naomi to win her first challenge.

They showed a video package about Aksana who is from Lithuania. She talked about being a former fitness champion several times and getting an interview with Arnold Schwarzenegger. She said competing in fitness is very similar to being a WWE Diva.

Aksana was shown backstage when Goldust walked in. She was upset so Goldust asked what was going on. She said there's a possible problem with her working papers and if it's not resolved soon she could get deported. Goldust said they will fix this. He told her she's lost 2 matches now but she can still win NXT. He had her do his breathing technique to relax.

Josh Matthews brought up what happened on Raw with Nexus and John Cena. Time for the Raw Rebound which showed highlights of Cena going to the ring for a one-on-one with Barrett. Barrett brought out all of Nexus and told Cena since he said he wants to pick apart Nexus one-by-one, he can go against the other four first in Gauntlet match. Cena got through Slater, Tarver and Otunga, but when he faced Gabriel, all the others came in to attack. Cena chased them off with a steel chair. Raw ended with Cena and Barrett agreeing to a match where each had stipulations. If Barrett wins their match at Hell in a Cell, Cena must join Nexus. If Cena wins the match, then the Nexus is done.

Josh Matthews mentioned the other known match for Hell in a Cell, a Hell in a Cell WWE Title match with Orton defending against Sheamus.

AJ vs. Maxine

Alicia Fox brought her rookie diva to the ring. Primo accompanied AJ to the ring. Maxine had control in the late stages of the match. She whipped AJ to the corner but then ate a boot as she charged. AJ started flying around with takedowns and dropkicks. Maxine hit a brainbuster, but AJ managed to roll over for the pinfall cover to win it.

Winner: AJ wins via pinfall over Maxine.

Just then, Michael Cole came out asking "Can I have your attention please?" He said he's heard the rumblings, tweets and text messages. Cole said he got dozens of notes asking him to return to NXT. He said he NXT without him was unwatchable." He made analogies to Bristol Palin on DWTS and NY Jets player Braylon Edwards. Cole said for all his loyal fans the "Cole miners," he's decided to bring back journalistic integrity to the show. Cole officially announced his return to NXT then got a hug from Punk and Matthews.

Time for the "Talk the Talk Challenge" where each diva gets to talk on a given topic. Jamie's topic was "teeth" but she started to talk herself up and dissed her competitors saying she'll prove to WWE what sexy, powerful and smart really is. Striker reminded the divas to stay on topic. AJ had to talk about caffeine and said she's a natural dynamite every day. Naomi had to talk about toupe, but instead said she was there to wrestle. AJ and Kaitlyn got a lot of applause, but Striker said it was AJ who won. AJ with her 2nd competition win of the night.

Kelly Kelly, Naomi & Jamie vs. Kaitlyn & Team LayCool

Early on, Layla mocked Jamie doing various flex movies, so Jamie took it to her. Finally, Kaitlyn tagged in to go against Jamie. At one point she hit a Spear as Jamie was coming against the ropes. Naomi tagged in and had to contend with both members of LayCool. Michelle had her down for the pin. Kaitlyn came in but didn't tag. Michelle told her to get back out and make the tag. She did and by the time she got in it was too late. Naomi was able to roll her over to take the winning pin.

Post-match, LayCool yelled at Kaitlyn over the finish. Kaitlyn ended up shoving Michelle, so Layla got down and grabbed Kaitlyn's legs. As Kaitlyn ducked down to get Layla, Michelle came over with a huge kick to Kaitlyn's head, leveling her on the mat. Vickie was in the ring now and screamed at Kaitlyn how she never listens. Finally, McCool, Layla and Vickie left, backing up the ramp and pointing. A referee checked on Kaitlyn who was still down on the mat holding her head.

WWE NXT Results 09/14/10

WWE NXT Results from Detroit, MI:

Michael Cole said we're just three weeks away from the first NXT Season 3 elimination. Cole was eliminated by Vickie Guerrero yelling "excuse me" multiple times. She said her rookie Kaitlyn embarrassed her last week, so she brought someone on the show to make her proud, the IC champ and her boyfriend, Dolph Ziggler. They replayed last week's incident in the ring involving Vickie, Primo, AJ and Kaitlyn.

AJ & Primo vs. Kaitlyn & Dolph Ziggler

Ziggler got a bit roughed up by Primo early on, prompting him to tag Kaitlyn in early. Kaitlyn took control against AJ, then crawled over to tag in Ziggler. Ziggler rushed in and knocked Primo off the apron, then turned his attention to AJ. She tried to run around him but Ziggler cut her off several times. Finally she hauled off and slapped Dolph several times then rushed past him to tag in Primo. Primo came in with serious momentum for a while, but eventually hit the corner hard. Ziggler quickly grabbed him from behind for the Zig Zag and the win.

After the victory, Kaitlyn celebrated the win by jumping up and hugging Ziggler. Vickie was shown on the outside looking not so happy at the hugging and touching going on. She backed up the ramp still looking upset.

Winners: Dolph Ziggler & Kaitlyn win via pinfall over Primo & AJ.

Josh and Cole talked over how Vickie and Kaitlyn need to get on the same page. They rolled a background video about Maxine who is Cuban, Chinese and Italian. She went to college for criminology and has done modeling on the side.

Now time for a divas challenge. Host Matt Striker was in the ring with Kaitlyn and AJ, then introduced the rest of the rookies, Jamie, Aksana, Maxine and Naomi. It was time for a "Joke Off" contest. The live Detroit audience would judge the divas on their joking ability. They started booing AJ immediately as she did some long joke about potato sacks. Ring announcer got the crowd into a knock knock joke saying "Aksana who?" and then said "exactly." Two of the divas, Maxine and Kaitlyn each involved AJ in their jokes and ended up in mini-catfights with her that Striker had to break up in the ring. Eventually the crowd pronounced Jamie the winner.

Michael Cole stood up and smashed a gong repeatedly next to the commentators table, then got on the mic saying all the divas, Matt Striker and the audience should all be gonged. He said this worthless season 3 should be gonged as well.

Jamie vs. Aksana

The Bella Twins and Goldust were on the apron to coach their respective diva rookies. Early on Jamie managed to gain control and shoved Aksana to the corner, then started to work on her left arm. Aksana made a comeback using multiple clotheslines to take Jamie down. However as she charged at her in the corner, Jamie moved away and Aksana hit hard. Jamie scored the quick rollup pinfall to win the match.

Winner: Jamie wins via pinfall over Aksana.

They showed the video package for Naomi who is mentored by Kelly Kelly. She describes herself as spunky sporty and very spontaneous. She was a former Orlando Magic dancer and got to put on a dunk show off the trampolines at the arena as well.

Upon NXT's return they reviewed the history between The Brothers of Destruction, Kane and the Undertaker. Kane claims Taker will now be nothing more "than the brother I destroyed." Kane talked of his plan of taking over as the dominant brother and capturing the World Heavyweight Title. Undertaker will face Kane for the title in a No Holds Barred match on Sunday at Night of Champions PPV. Cole and Matthews ran down the card which includes Daniel Bryan vs The Miz for the US Title, and the Six Pack Challenge for the WWE Title.

Cole said fans can watch a replay of tonight's show at WWE.com tomorrow. They reviewed Kaitlyn and Dolph's victory earlier over Primo and AJ. Dolph and Kaitlyn hugged after the victory but Vickie was clearly not pleased.

Backstage, Dolph and Kaitlyn were discussing their victory. Vickie Guerrero walked up and told Kaitlyn to excuse her and Dolph for a moment. Kaitlyn started to leave then turned back to thank Dolph. Vickie yelled "I said excuse us!" Kaitlyn walked off. Vickie asked Dolph what all the touching was about with him and Kaitlyn. He tried to explain that she was happy over her first win. Vickie told Dolph if she sees any of that again, he'll lose all of her. Vickie walked off to leave Dolph thinking.

The final divas challenge of the night was an obstacle course. All of the divas were lined up on the ramp at a yellow start line. The course involved tires, hurdles to jump, a pushups area, balance beam and a weighted trnk they had to push up the ramp. Before they could start, Vickie came out to coach her rookie Kaitlyn. She told Kaitlyn she needs to win the obstacle course. Vickie said she's going to show her how it's done. Vickie took her time in getting ready to run the course, stretching excessively and making the crowd antsy.

Finally she got going. Vickie ran most of the course but after she finished the balance beam she tripped and fell on the ground. Vickie started screaming at the refs and Striker to get away. She headed backstage screaming at everyone even Kaitlyn.

Here's their results:

Kaitlyn: 36.5 seconds
Aksana: 37.2 seconds
AJ: 46.0 seconds
Maxine: 39.1 seconds
Jamie: 36.8 seconds
Naomi: 57.4 seconds

Kaitlyn is your Obstacle Course challenge winner, giving her a first win in the challenges. Naomi still has 2 wins, and Jamie has 1 win. The rookie diva with the most wins will get immunity from the first diva elimination in three weeks for the big vote.

After Vickie Guerrero came out to celebrate with her rookie, Michael Cole got up and began to bang the big gong next to the commentators table again. Cole said he's had it with the NXT show and that it violates his journalistic integrity. Cole said he's done with the show and Josh Matthews. He tossed his mic down and headed backstage, getting taunted by both the Pros and the rookie divas.

WWE NXT Results 09/07/10

WWE NXT Results 09/07/10:

The Season 3 of WWE NXT premiered, opening with a new theme song and video featuring the five divas and their pro mentors. They showed Vickie Guerrero with a mystery silouhette, as her rookie diva had been fired this past weekend.

NXT Host Matt Striker was in ring and introduced the WWE Pro Mentors, who each introduced their diva rookies. Kelly Kelly introduced rookie Naomi. The Bella Twins came out to introduce former ring announcer Jamie Keyes. Primo introduced his rookie A.J. Alicia Fox introduced Maxine. Finally, Goldust came out to introduce his diva rookie Aksana. Suddenly, Vickie Guerrero arrived out from backstage with her "Excuse Me" bit. She said last week she fired her rookie diva Aloisa. She said her rookie is now out of the way, and now she has a new diva rookie - Kaitlyn.

Striker reminded everyone that 50% of the votes are from the Pros and 50% from the WWE Universe. Striker gave each of the diva hopefuls a chance to talk. Kaitlyn delivered her in-ring talk but Vickie didn't like it and made her go over again. The second time she talked about how great it was to have Vickie Guerrero as her pro mentor. Aksana from Lithuania spoke in her language for a bit and finished with "let me entertainment you." Maxine called herself a "Triple Threat in a skirt." The WWE Universe didn't really embrace any of the diva rookies and seemed bored by their speeches.

NXT returned with Striker and just the diva rookies in the ring for the first NXT Challenge. Striker said the first elimination will be in four week's time. He said whichever diva wins the most challenges between now and then will be immune. First challenge will be "Divas Dance Challenge" with the live Baltimore audience as judges. Striker said they'd need a dance partner, so he called Michael Cole into the ring. Cole wore red leggings and a weird hat and really seemed to distract from the diva dancing.

Striker told Cole to take a seat after two dances, and called in ring announcer Tony Chimel. AJ started to do what looked like a strip routine, in totally non-PG fashion. Maxine did almost the same taking it a step further. Josh Matthews was called in for the last two dances with Aksana and Kaitlyn. Matthews did slow dancing. Kaitlyn did the robot and then some other Carlton dance moves from "Fresh Prince." Naomi won the competition and Michael Cole claimed it was his doing.

When NXT returned they mentioned one of the new official theme songs of NXT is "You Make the Rain Fall" by To The Sky, now available at iTunes.

Kelly Kelly & Naomi vs. Alicia Fox & Maxine

Naomi showed impressive moves early on, that haven't been seen before by a diva. Maxine soon got into the match to fight Naomi. Cole said if Maxine wasn't in the NXT contest she said she'd be a private investigator. Alicia and Maxine continued to keep Naomi away from a tag to Kelly.

There seemed to be some confusion with the finish. As Naomi had a pinfall on Maxine, Alicia came into the ring to break it up, as Kelly rushed in to pounce on her. However, the ref counted a pinfall and the bell rang. Kelly and Alicia kept fighting to the outside. Back in the ring, Naomi and Maxine still thought the match was going on. Naomi got a suplex on Maxine and pinned, but a ref slid in to explain that there were already winners. Strange finish!

Winners: Kelly Kelly and Naomi win via pinfall over Maxine and Alicia Fox.

Time for another Diva Rookies challenge. This time it was capture the flag. The divas had to rush down the ramp toward a post holding five flags. Jamie was eliminated first since she didn't get a flag. On the next try it was AJ, then Aksana being eliminated. It came down to Maxine and Naomi. Naomi won her second straight contest of the night grabbing the final flag in the ring. Striker interviewed her in the ring asking how she felt. She said she's so excited and thinks her athleticism gives her the advantage over the other girls.

Cole and Matthews talked over the new WWE Film "Legendary" starring John Cena which opens on Friday. They showed an inside look just like Raw featured Monday night.

From there, they brought up how Cena will be part of the Six Pack Challenge at Night of Champions. Other matches include Daniel Bryan vs The Miz for the US Title and Undertaker vs Kane for the World Heavyweight Title. Cole said on Friday night's Smackdown Undertaker returns to action against CM Punk.

Matthews kicked it back to a highlight package of Jamie Keyes, one of the diva rookie hopefuls. Jamie said she was always active when she was younger and got into weightlifting as a cheerleader. She went to nursing school before getting into WWE.

Goldust & Aksana vs. Primo & A.J.

In a very quick matchup, A.J. was able to use a face-plant bulldog to pick up the victory for her and Primo in mixed tag action.

Not long after the victory celebration, Smackdown consultant Vickie Guerrero appeared with her rookie diva Kaitlyn. She said she wanted Kaitlyn to give her intro one more time in the ring. Primo told Vickie to leave. Vickie said Primo might like "living with failure" but she hangs out with success. AJ told Vickie to leave, so Vickie told Kaitlyn to sick her. AJ and Kaitlyn fought a bit, with AJ pushing Kaitlyn onto Vickie. Vickie was irate and left, storming up the ramp. Kaitlyn chased her backstage offering apologies as AJ and Primo celebrated in the ring. Cole said "that pipsqueak AJ is going to pay."

Winners: AJ & Primo win via pinfall over Aksana & Goldust.
