WWE Tribute to the Troops 2014 results from Columbus, GA:

The WWE Tribute to the Troops 2014 show was held at the Fort Benning base in Columbus, Georgia. Among those in action were The Usos, Stardust and Goldust, John Cena, Ryback, Big Show, Dolph Ziggler and Seth Rollins.

The Usos defeated Stardust and Goldust in an opening tag team match.

They had a segment of Miz TV with Hulk Hogan and John Cena. Cena blocked a punch Miz threw after some trash talk, then tossed Miz out of the ring. Mizdow told Cena to pause and then did his schtick, making himself get beat up and throwing himself to the outside like Miz. Seth Rollins’ music hit and he charged down to the ring with Mercury, Noble, Kane, Big Show and Harper to attack Cena and Hogan. Ziggler’s music hit and he rushed to the ring with Rowan and Ryback to even the odds, fighting off the heels.

Naomi won a Santa’s Little Helpers’ Divas Battle Royal. Rosa and Summer Rae had an impromptu dance-off to begin things but the rest of the divas swarmed them and tossed both divas out of the match. It eventually came down to Nikki, Brie, Paige, Natalya and Naomi. Paige tried to hide by hanging off the ringpost on the apron. The Bella walked over with Paige dangling some mistletoe at Brie to mock what she did to AJ. The Bellas both kicked Paige off the apron to the floor. Brie went for a baseball slide dropkick at Natalya on the apron but Nattie moved aside and Brie was eliminated. Nikki went over to grab Natalya to try to throw her off the side, but Naomi came over and eliminated both divas for the win.

Dean Ambrose defeated Bray Wyatt via pinfall in a No Disqualification Boot Camp match. The ring ropes were decorated to look similar to an obstacle course with weapons scattered in the ring including a kendo stick, steel chairs and more. Late in the match, Dean unloaded on Bray with a kendo stick then hit a side Russian legsweep. Ambrose set up a table and prepared to get Wyatt but Bray kicked him, then hit a side slam through the table. Moments later, Bray noticed Sgt. Slaughter at ringside taking off his boot. Bray walked over to the ropes to trash talk Sarge and Dean had a near fall rollup. Later, Ambrose exploded with a clothesline from the ropes and then Sgt. Slaughter tossed in his steel-toed boot for Ambrose to use. Dean clocked Wyatt in the face then set him up on a table before hitting an elbow drop on him from the top rope. Ambrose made the pinfall cover for the win to close it out. Sgt. Slaughter got in the ring to raise Dean’s arm after the win.

John Cena, Erick Rowan, Ryback and Dolph Ziggler defeated the team of Seth Rollins, Big Show, Luke Harper and Kane via pinfall in an eight man tag team match. Ziggler made a hot tag to Cena late. He came in to take it to Harper, putting him up for a near-AA but Rollins came in to attack. Cena dropped Harper and punched Rollins down, then did a drop toe hold on Harper to put on the STF. Kane came in to break up the submission. Rowan came in and hit a spin kick to knock Kane down, but then Rollins jumped off the corner to kick Rowan. Ryback pressed Rollins overhead and tossed him out onto J&J, Kane and Harper. Big Show grabbed Ryback and hit a chokeslam, then tried for one on Ziggler. Dolph jumped out of his grip and then landed a super kick. Cena hit the AA on Show, then another as Harper tried to attack. Cena grabbed the winning pin on Harper. The faces celebrated, and Hulk Hogan’s music hit with Hulkster coming down the ramp waving the American Flag to close out TTTT 2014.

2012 Tribute to the Troops Results

Tribute to the Troops results from Norfolk, VA:

Sheamus & Randy Orton defeated Big Show and Dolph Ziggler via pinfall.  The match originally was won on a countout when Ziggler and Show left after two minutes.  However, Booker T came out and said the match would restart.  The second match lasted over ten minutes, with Orton getting the RKO on Big Show.  Sheamus followed up with a Brogue Kick for the win.

Fergie gave a video holiday message for the troops followed by members of the Fab Five from the Olympics gymnastics team.

Backstage, Layla was getting ready for a match when The Muppets interrupted.

Flo Rida performed his hit song "Let It Roll."

Josh Matthews talked to John Cena backstage bout ten years of Tribute to the Troops.  He said its an honor and privilege and the best way he knows to say thank you.  He said tonight's show is just getting started.

Ryback defeated Alberto Del Rio via disqualification.  Late in the match, Ryback started a comeback.  Ricardo got in the ring and tried to jump on Ryback's back, causing the DQ.  Ryback cleared the ring of ADR, then hit Shellshocked on Ricardo.  Ryback then grabbed Del Rio and hit him with Shell Shocked.

Kid Rock performed his song "Let's Ride."

Josh Matthews tried to interview Kermit backstage, but Fozzy came out to the door.  Fozzy said Kermit's nervous about being on MizTV.  They showed Muppets critics Statler and Waldorf making a joke about MizTV.

MizTV featured Kermit as Miz's guest and Miss Piggy.  Miz tried to talk about Kermit's on and off again girlfriend and their scandal.  Damien Sandow came out to interrupt, questioning what Miz has become.  He said Miz and Piggy are perfect for each other as overrated hams.  Piggy said the "bearded weird-o" was in for a world of hurt.  Miz tried to hold her off, the punched Sandow down himself.

The Miz defeated Damien Sandow via pinfall.  Miz was going to go for Reality Check late, but Sandow blocked and hit the spinning neckbreaker.  Sandow went for a lazy pin, which Miz turned into one of his own for the win.

Flo Rida performed "Wild Ones."

Michael Cole and JBL shared their Tribute to the Troops memories and showed video involving the first-ever Troops special.  It involved Undertaker, The Rock, Shawn Michaels, Stone Cold, and a newer star, John Cena.  They showed clips of the show over the years.

R-Truth and Team Hell No defeaated 3MB in a six-man tag match via pinfall.  Late in the match, Kane hit a chokeslam on Jinder Mahal.  R-Truth tagged in and hit the Little Jimmy on Slater for the win.  Kane was surprised at what happened.  Truth asked Kane to do his pyro thing, so Kane did it, causing Truth to jump up and down.

John Cena defeated Antonio Cesaro via pinfall in a non-title matchup.  Prior to the match, Cesaro talked to Josh Matthews backstage about how every country, even the US, wishes it could be like Switzerland.  He said every superstar, including Cena, wishes they could be him.

During the match, i went to the outside with Cesaro trying to bash Cena into the announce table.  Cena blocked it, but moments later got sent into the ring steps.  Cesaro brought Cena back into the ring for a two count.  Cesaro hit a side slam and continued his momentum.  Moments later, Cena started up a comeback, and did the Five Knuckle Shuffle.  He followed with the AA for the big win.

Post-match, all the stars and divas came onto the stage.  Cena thanked the tropps from in the ring.  Cena thanked Muppets, Kid Rock and Flo Rida for tonight's show.  They had various wrestlers dressed as reindeer come out to lead Santa Claus on stage.  The wrestlers went out to the crowd to pose with troops and families.  Cena was shown as he tossed t-shirts into the crowd before the show ended.

2011 Tribute to the Troops Results

WWE 2011 Tribute to the Troops Results from Fort Bragg, NC:

The latest annual Tribute to the Troops show came from Fayetteville, NC.  It started off with a video package about the US military with CM Punk, Eve, Orton, Rhodes, Henry, Ziggler and John Cena giving comments about the troops.

After pyrotechnics went off and Cole/Lawler discussed the main events, they had a pre-recorded video message from President Obama to the Troops.  Randy Orton came out for the first match.

In the opening bout, Randy Orton and Wade Barrett fought to a countout.  Late in the match, Orton tried for the DDT on Barrett through the ropes, but Barrett escaped.  On the outside, Barrett managed to ram Orton's back into the crowd barrier.  Both men kept fighting and preventing each other from getting in the ring as the ref counted them out.

Post-match, Barrett got the upperhand and put a table in the ring, then threw Orton into the ring.  Barrett went to set up the table, but Orton got to his feet and dropkicked him down.  Orton set up the table and got ready to do something, but David Otunga rushed into the ring to attack Orton.  Cole said Otunga has beef from a street fight weeks ago.  Otunga tried to put Orton through the table, but got the RKO instead.  With Barrett watching from on stage, Orton put Otunga through the table by Powerbomb.

Pre-recorded message from actress Nicole Kidman to the troops was shown.

Pre-recorded message from actor Jake Gyllenhaal to the troops.

Nickelback performed the Monday Night Raw theme song "Burn it to the Ground" for the crowd.

Michael Cole introduced a video about the Golden Knights, the US Army Parachute Team.  Kofi Kingston, Eve Torres, Cody Rhodes, CM Punk, and Alberto Del Rio all went up to jump out of the plane from 13,000 feet over the ground.

Jack Swagger came out for his match with Dolph Ziggler accompanying him in street clothes.  Zack Ryder came out to the top of the stage with a mic to cut a promo on how he speaks for everyone in the arena that they don't want Ziggler representing the US.  Ryder then introduced his new big bro-ski, Sgt. Slaughter, who came to the ring and revealed he had a Ryder headband on.

During the match, Ryder was knocked to the outside.  Ziggler came over while the ref was distracted and clotheslined Ryder down.  He then layed on the commentators table pretending he was using Twitter on his phone.  Sgt. Slaughter came over and confronted Ziggler, who got up and was clotheslined over the table.  Swagger got out of the ring to lay out Slaughter, then beat up Ryder to bring back into the ring.  However, Ryder got the upperhand and hit Rough Ryder to win it.  Post-match, Slaughter put the Cobra Clutch on Swagger for a bit then threw him down.

A pre-recorded video message was shown from Hugh Jackman to the troops.

They showed a video of The Bella Twins touring the West Point campus, getting the guys riled up at the Mess Hall, and participating in an obstacle course challenge.

The Bellas came out for an eigh-diva tag match.  Natalya and Beth Phoenix were out to join them as heel divas.  For the face divas it was Kelly Kelly, Eve, Alicia Fox, and EXTRA host Maria Menounous.

Kelly was fighting Beth as the legal divas.  Kelly got her airplane spinning headscissors, but it set off a big brawl as all the others cleared out the ring.  Maria was still on the apron and tagged in to try to get a pin on Beth.  Beth got up and in her face, then shoved her into the corner.  As Beth rushed at her, Maria jumped up and did a Sunset Flip pinfall on Beth to win the match.

Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy from The Muppets gave a message to the troops by pre-recorded video.


A pre-recorded video message was shown from singer Celine Dion to the troops.

Comedian George Wallace came out onto the stage to do some jokes for the troops.  Wallace did jokes about the holidays, and even put in a joke about Jerry Lawler.  He closed out saying that his show in Vegas is free to all military personnel in 2012.

Cole and Lawler introduced footage to highlight the Triple H-Kevin Nash feud that lead to their sledgehammer ladder match this weekend at TLC PPV.

Booker T arrived out from backstage to come down for commentary on the Cody Rhodes vs Daniel Bryan match.

During the match, Booker T went over to check on Daniel Bryan when he got knocked out of the ring.  That brought Rhodes over to confront him before tossing Bryan back into the ring.  Rhodes tried to expose Bryan's ribs to take advantage, but then got distracted by Booker at ringside.  Rhodes ducked out through the ropes to jaw with Booker, and got punched instead.  Bryan scored the quick schoolboy pin for the win.  Post-match, Rhodes taunted Booker and invited him into the ring.  Booker obliged, but got the upperhand on Rhodes several times, before Rhodes left with his IC title belt.  Booker revved up the crowd and did the Spin-a-rooney.

A pre-recorded message for the troops was shown from Carson Daly.

R&B singer Mary J. Blige performed her hit song "Need Someone" for the live crowd.  After her performance, Cole plugged her single being available on iTunes.

Evan Bourne and Kofi Kingston were backstage and met up with Miss USA Alyssa Campanella down the hall.  All three  did Kofi's Boom Clap taunt, before Air Boom walked off on the way out for a match.

Actor/comedian Robin Williams gave a pre-recorded message to the troops.

Eve Torres did an interview with "Dancing With the Stars" winner J.R. Martinez who is a war hero.  Martinez gave scores to various wrestlers who danced before.  He gave Santino a 7, Michael Cole a 3, and Eve a 9.  Eve gave him a WWE title belt at the end of the segment.

Hornswoggle came to the ring dressed in a military outfit to introduced the competitors for the tag team matchup.

Epico and Primo defeated Air Boom by pinfall.  Late in the match, everyone got involved in the match at once.  The legal men were Bourne and Epico.  Epico managed to hit a Backstabber for the win.  Hornswoggle announced them as the winners, and Rosa Mendes got in the ring to hug Primo and Epico before raising their arms.

Matthew McConaughey gave his pre-recorded video message to the troops.

Nickelback performed "When We Stand Together" as they showed a slideshow of wrestlers and divas posing with troops up on the Titantron.

Christina Aguilera from NBC's "The Voice" gave a special message for the troops by video.

Christian arrived out wearing a neckbrace and using a crutch.  He came out to talk about his injuries he suffered from Sheamus and Big Show.  Christian taunted the audience and hyped up the Canadian Army as they booed him.  Sheamus arrived out for his match, and Christian tried to hobble away from him.

Sheamus defeated Drew McIntyre in a quick match by pinfall.  Sheamus used the Brogue Kick to knock McIntyre down to the mat for the winning pin.

Talk show host Jimmy Fallon delivered a message to the troops on pre-recorded video.  Sheamus came in and kneed Fallon in the gut, then finished off the message himself.

Regis Philbin gave a message to the troops by video saying he hopes they all enjoyed the show.

Mary J Blige performed her older hit song "Family Affair" for the live audience.

Bradley Cooper delivered his pre-recorded video message to the troops wishing a happy and safe holiday.

Alberto Del Rio arrived out in a 2009 Bentley worth $180k and was introduced by Ricardo Rodriguez.  Next out was The Miz, followed by Mark Henry for the heel team.  Big Show came out for the face team, followed by Punk, and then John Cena.  They showed footage of Kane's return to the ring on Raw last night where he chokeslammed Cena and revealed his new mask.

Late in the match, Cena had the advantage on Mark Henry and was able to hit a tough side slam on him before connecting on the Five Knuckle.  Del Rio and Miz came in to attack Cena, but that brought in Show to chokeslam Del Rio, and Punk to hit GTS on Miz.  They all left the ring, and Cena was able to hit AA on Henry for the win.

To close the show Cena delivered a heartfelt message to thank all the troops for what they've done.  The various WWE divas and superstars all assembled up on the ring to salute the troops.

WWE Tribute to the Troops 2010 Complete Results

WWE aired a special 2 hour extended edition of its annual Tribute to the Troops show. A special 15 man over-the-top-rope battle royal opened up the Tribute to the Troops show from Fort Hood, Texas.

Competitors were John Morrison, Mark Henry, Ezekiel Jackson, Chavo Guerrero, Sheamus, Daniel Bryan, Chris Masters, Dashing Cody Rhodes, Vladimir Kozlov, Santino Marella, Nexus members: Otunga, Slater, Gabriel, McGillicutty, Harris. Michael Cole noted that these Nexus guys were assaulted by Cena at TLC PPV Sunday so he's surprised to see them here, although this special took place before TLC.

Early on Nexus retreated out of the ring as the match continued on. Masters was the first official elimination of the match. Jackson tried to toss Rhodes over the top, but Rhodes held onto the top rope. Ezekiel Jackson got eliminated due to a headscissors from Rhodes and Chavo coming over from behind to help push Zeke over the top rope. Cole noted that many fans showed up for today's event starting at 7am in the morning.

Santino used the Cobra on Chavo, Morrison, Rhodes and Bryan with all of them falling to the mat. Sheamus came over to knock Santino to the mat. Sheamus yelled out and Mark Henry stared him down. With everyone else down, Sheamus and Henry went at it. Nexus rushed into the ring and attacked both guys. They eliminated Santino together, then attacked Kozlov 5-on-1 to eliminate him as well.

Chavo was thrown onto the apron next then punched off by Nexus. Rhodes thought he had Harris on his side, but soon got thrown out by his former NXT rookie. Morrison, Henry, Bryan and Sheamus teamed up to take on the Nexus guys. Daniel Bryan managed to eliminate Gabriel, but then Sheamus hit a Brogh kick and tossed Bryan out. Morrison later tossed Otunga out.

It was down to Harris, Slater and McGillicutty vs Sheamus, Morrison and Henry. Morrison was about to go for a springboard move from the apron, but got punched off by Nexus. Meanwhile, Henry tossed Heath Slater out of the ring. It came down to McGill and Harris against Henry. Henry was able to send McGillicutty out over the top rope and then Harris. Henry forgot Sheamus was still in there and got attacked from behind. Henry gained the moment in his homestate but Sheamus kicked him as Henry charged the corner. Sheamus got up on the corner, but Henry went over and grabbed him. Henry pressed Sheamus overhead and tossed him to the outside!

Winner: Mark Henry wins the 15 man over-the-top-rope battle royal.

A special pre-recorded Taylor Swift holiday thanks and greeting to the troops was shown.

The Bella Twins were next to the crowd in Santa's Helper diva costumes welcoming fans back to the show.

Justin Roberts introduced Diddy-Dirty Money saying they were performing their classic hit "I'll Be Missing You." The song was originally by Diddy, not Diddy-Dirty Money.

After a commercial break, Justin Roberts introduced special guest ring announcer, Miss USA Rima Fakih.

Kofi Kingston & Big Show vs. Dolph Ziggler & Jack Swagger

Michael Cole was discussing the match as if it happened after TLC PPV, yet during the Saturday airing he provided different commentary, ahead of the Pay-Per-View.

Show and Kofi had the early advantage on Ziggler. Kofi jumped up on Ziggler in the corner for nearly 10 punches, then a European uppercut. Moments later, Kofi was on the apron fighting off Swagger and Ziggler. He tried to jump up for a springboard move, but Swagger was there to yank his leg and smash Kofi face first into the apron.

The action broke down late in the match, with Big Show getting the hot tag. Show and Swagger were legal. Kofi took Ziggler out over the top rope. Show got the Chokeslam on Swagger for the win, and Miss USA announced the results.

Winners: Big Show & Kofi Kingston win via pinfall over Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger.

A special pre-recorded video message was shown from LA Lakers star Kobe Bryant.

Justin Roberts introduced country music star Trace Adkins to perform his song "I Got My Game On." Some have compared Adkins' outfit to something similar to what The Undertaker would wear.

R-Truth vs. Ted Dibiase

R-Truth arrived out first to rap his entrance song "What's Up?" with Eve Torres in a Santa's Helper diva costume doing dance moves. Maryse accompanied Ted Dibiase to the ring.

Truth took control early on against Dibiase as he booted him down on a move near the ropes. However, right after that Dibiase dropped Truth face first onto the top rope. Truth regained control yet again, but Maryse got up on the apron to distract. Eve rushed over and yanked Maryse down by the leg. Dibiase tried for Dream Street but R-Truth countered it. He came back moments later with the Lie Detector for the victory. Eve joined Truth in the ring post-match to celebrate.

Winner: R-Truth wins via pinfall over Ted Dibiase.

Bella Twins, Natalya & Kelly Kelly vs. Lay-Cool, Alicia Fox & Melina

Kelly had the advantage late in the match and hit her finisher leg drop on Michelle. However, Layla came in to kick Kelly and stop the pin. All of the divas got into the ring to fight. Kelly and Michelle were left in the ring together. Kelly hit her leg drop to plant Michelle face first to the mat for the winning pinfall.

Winners: The Bella Twins, Natalya & Kelly Kelly win via pinfall over Lay-Cool, Melina & Alicia Fox.

The View's Sherri Shepherd arrived out in a Santa's Helper outfit with Hornswoggle as her elf helper. They tossed out presents to the crowd, and then a pre-recorded message from former president George W. Bush was shown to the troops.

Lawler said President Bush and Randomhouse are donating copies of his book "Decision Points" to the troops. They showed troops holding copies.

Justin Roberts re-introduced Diddy-Dirty Money to perform their song "Coming Home" off the new album "Last Train to Paris."

Major General Grimsley vs Kane
Arm Wrestling Contest

Major General Grimsley issued an open challenge to anyone who wanted to face him in an arm wrestling challenge. Kane took the challenge. It was back and forth early on. All of a sudden, the Rated-R Superstar Edge showed up and Kane let go off Grimsley's hand. Edge came to the ring in a bulletproof vest. Kane tried to chokeslam him, but Edge escaped his clutches. Edge ran against the ropes then came back to Spear down Kane.

Winner: No contest due to Edge's interference.

Comedian Cedric the Entertainer came out to entertain the troops with his comedy. His aired jokes were the same as shown on NBC's show Saturday.

Late Night host Jimmy Fallon had a special pre-recorded message for the Troops. Fallon purposely told some corny holiday jokes. It ended with The Miz arriving out to bodyslam Fallon to the floor and then yelled "Happy Holidays everybody!"

Trace Adkins was out again to perform another song. This time he performed "Whoop a Man's Ass" for the Fort Hood Texas crowd.

The Chief of Staff of the US Army, General George W. Casey Jr. had a special message for the troops.

Rey Mysterio, Randy Orton and John Cena made their entrances for the main event six man tag match.

A special pre-recorded message was shown from The Today Show anchors to wish the troops well for the holidays and beyond.

John Cena, Rey Mysterio & Randy Orton vs. Wade Barrett, Alberto Del Rio & The Miz

The heels were introduced following the commercial break. Wade Barrett was out first. Next, Alberto Del Rio arrived driving a Rolls Royce out to the ramp. Finally, The Miz and Alex Riley made their entrance.

John Cena started off strong against Miz, but Miz soon got a kick in on Cena, then tagged in Del Rio to continue the beating. Barrett smiled as he looked on, then tagged in to go after Cena some more. The heels continued to stay in control with Miz gaining the advantage on Orton later. Orton came back to blast Miz down wit ha clothesline, then tagged in Mysterio. Mysterio had a near fall with a bodypress onto Miz. He nearly got the 619, but Riley tripped Mysterio from the outside, then yanked Rey out of the ring as the ref wasn't looking. Miz tagged Barrett, who went over to ram Rey into the apron. The show went to commercial.

Tribute to the Troops returned with the heels in control. Barrett had a near fall on Mysterio, then tagged in Del Rio to work over Rey. Del Rio reacted to the crowd's U-S-A chants. Mysterio managed to roll through a Dell Rio sunset flip pin attempt and kicked Del Rio in the face. However, Del Rio was quick to run back over and kick Rey again. Barrett tagged in and took it to Rey.

Barrett tried for a Superplex up on the corner, but Mysterio blocked it then headbutted Barrett down to the mat. Rey flew off the corner with a cross body then made the hot tag to John Cena. Cena slammed Del Rio down then hit the Five Knuckle Shuffle on Del Rio. The Miz and Barrett got involved as Cena tried to hit the AA and get the win. Barrett and Del Rio both ended up against the ropes with Mysterio hitting a 619 on both guys. Barrett stumbled back into Orton for the RKO. Del Rio stumbled back towards Cena, so he picked him up to hit the AA and win it.

The winners celebrated in the ring in front of the troops to close the matches out.

Winners: John Cena, Rey Mysterio & Randy Orton win via pinfall over Wade Barrett, Alberto Del Rio & The Miz.

They showed a highlight video of slideshow images and video footage with the troops. John Cena, Mark Henry, the Miz, Kelly Kelly, Eve, CM Punk were among the superstars in the footage. There were also celebrities shown including Cameron Diaz, Adam Sandler and Toby Keith. The video included the Kid Rock song "Born Free."

WWE Tribute to the Troops 2010 Results:

WWE aired its Tribute to the Troops 2010 special on NBC at 9PM EST, with the pre-recorded show from Fort Hood, Texas.

The special opened with a message from President Barack Obama to thank all of the United States troops for their service. A video package noted that the WWE has gone around the globe for 20 years to lift the spirits of our troops. Tonight's show will also include celebrities: Trace Adkins, Cedric the Entertainer, Miss USA Rima Fakih, Sherri Shepherd and Diddy-Dirty Money.

Michael Cole opened the show on commentary with a shot of the Fort Hood, Texas crowd and ring set. Jerry Lawler was also on hand to say they estimated a crowd of 50,000 in attendance. Justin Roberts introduced Diddy-Dirty Money to give a performance of the song "Coming Home" from the new album "Last Train to Paris." After performing, Diddy gave his thanks to the troops, saying after being around them today it connected with him. Diddy said thank you and he loves them all for what they're doing.

A special pre-recorded video message was shown from Taylor Swift thanking the troops, wishing them happy holidays and saying she loves them all so much.

WWE Diva Kelly Kelly welcomed fans back to the show, dressed in her festive Santa's helper costume.

Kofi Kingston & Big Show vs. Jack Swagger & Dolph Ziggler

Justin Roberts introduced Miss USA Rima Fakih as special guest announcer for the match. Michael Cole noted that Ziggler will defend the IC title against Swagger and Kofi at Sunday's TLC Pay-Per-View. Show got the early chest slaps on Ziggler and dropped him to the mat, then stood on him with both feet. Kofi soon tagged in and did a leg drop over the top rope onto Ziggler for the near fall. Kofi managed to continue with momentum as he flipped Ziggler across the ring. Dolph continued to take punishment, but Swagger helped by grabbing Kofi's foot near the apron with the ref distracted.

Big Show got back in the ring to take down both Ziggler and Swagger. Soon Kofi took Ziggler over the top rope to the outside, allowing Show to chokeslam Swagger down for the pinfall victory.

Winners: Big Show & Kofi Kingston win via pinfall over Dolph Ziggler & Jack Swagger.

A pre-recorded message was shown from US Olympic gold medalist Lindsey Vonn.

A special pre-recorded message from Kobe Bryant was shown.

They showed from earlier in the day when Sherri Shepherd and Hornswoggle were tossing out gifts to the crowd.

Country singer Trace Adkins performed his song "Whoop a Man's Ass."

A special pre-recorded message from former President George W. Bush was shown. Bush said the thing he misses most about being president is being commander-in-chief of the finest military troops in the world. Bush gave his thanks to the troops and mentioned how WWE has helped entertain the troops for years now.

From earlier in the day, Justin Roberts introduced comedian Cedric the Entertainer. Cedric told some jokes about the holidays for a bit to entertain the troops. The Raw theme song played as Cedric left the stage.

Rey Mysterio made his entrance for a tag team match. Next out was Randy Orton, followed by John Cena.

Several cast members from 30 Rock wished the troops a Happy Holiday season prior to a commercial break.

WWE Diva Eve Torres was ringside in her Santas helper costume to welcome fans back to the show. Wade Barrett made his entrance, and then Alberto Del Rio drove a Rolls Royce out near the ramp to make his entrance. Finally, WWE Champion The Miz made his entrance for the six man tag match. Alex Riley arrived out holding the Money in the Bank briefcase. Michael Cole bragged about all of Miz's appearances this past week including Jimmy Kimmel, TMZ and Fox News. Lawler reminded fans that Miz will defend the title in a tables match against Orton on Sunday.

Rey Mysterio, Randy Orton & John Cena vs. Alberto Del Rio, The Miz & Wade Barrett

Cena started the match off fast against The Miz with a quick takedown. Miz soon gained the advantage then tagged in Del Rio to beat on Cena some more. He tagged in Barrett who tried to punish Cena more. Cena and Barrett ended up taking each other down with a double clothesline. Randy Orton soon tagged in and was able to gain control against Barrett, including a DDT from the middle ropes. Orton went for the RKO with Barrett shoving him towards the corner. Orton fought off Miz and Del Rio, but as he turned to go at Barrett he ate a huge boot.

Barrett gained control of Orton, then tagged in Miz to work on Orton some more. Orton managed to take down Miz and tagged in Mysterio. Rey had a flying crossbody off the ropes for a near fall. Rey had Miz set up for a 619, but Alex Riley yanked Mysterio out of the ring as he was going for it. Wade Barrett rammed Rey into the apron outside the ring as they went to commercials.

After the break, Barrett took Mysterio down to the mat, continuing the heels' control of the match. Barrett hit a huge backbreaker on Rey with a near fall. Rey escaped it though. He tried to get over for a tag, but Wade grabbed his leg to stop him, then tagged in Del Rio. Mysterio managed to roll through a Del Rio move and kicked him in the head. Del Rio cut off another tag attempt from Mysterio then took him down again.

Later, Rey blocked a superplex attempt from Barrett on the corner then managed to take him down. Rey finally made the hot tag to Cena who came in with multiple takedowns on Del Rio. Cena dropped him to the mat, then hit a Five Knuckle Shuffle. Del Rio almost got hit by the AA, but Miz came in to kick Cena. Orton came in and dropped Miz then prepared for the RKO, but Alex Riley pulled him out of the ring for the save. Barrett came in with Orton arriving in to fight him off. Eventually Cena sent Del Rio and Barrett into the ropes for a 619 from Rey. Orton hit the RKO on Barrett. As Del Rio staggered back, Cena hit him with the Attitude Adjustment for the win.

Post-match, Cena, Orton and Rey all posed in the ring for the troops. WWE showed a sidebar of all of tonight's music including the songs performed by Trace Adkins and Diddy-Dirty Money.

Winners: John Cena, Randy Orton and Rey Mysterio win via pinfall over Alberto Del Rio, Wade Barrett & The Miz.

They showed highlights from the WWE Superstars and Divas visiting the troops in Fort Hood, Texas. Featured with the troops in the clips were John Cena, Kelly Kelly, The Miz and others.

WWE presented its 2009 edition of "Tribute to the Troops", an overseas special to entertain the United States Troops in Iraq, on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at 9PM EST. The NBC special featured matches such as The Miz versus John Morrison, and John Cena defending the WWE Title against Chris Jericho for the first time ever in Iraq.

Also during the special, they aired video footage and still image montages set to specific background music. The musical acts included Bon Jovi, Nickelback, David Cook and Bob Dylan. WWE Tribute to the Troops 2009

2009 WWE Tribute to the Troops Recap:

The WWE's 2009 Tribute to the Troops special aired on Saturday, December 19th, 2009 on NBC at 9PM EST. It opened with a video showing black and white footage of previous entertainers like Bob Hope and Marilyn Monroe performing overseas to lift the spirits of the troops. Tonight the WWE will continue the tradition overseas as they present their brand of sports entertainment.

Michael Cole was on commentary to open tonight's show from the largest military base in Northern Iraq. Jerry Lawler was also on hand to say they were providing commentary from WWE's HQ in Stamford, CT. Tonight's main event pits John Cena against Chris Jericho. Rey Mysterio came out in all camoflauge gear to open the show.

Rey Mysterio & Mark Henry vs. Carlito & C Punk

A mixed tag team match from Raw and Smackdown opened the show. Late in the match with both Carlito and Punk down against the middle rope, Mysterio hit a double 619 on them. Mark Henry got in the ring to hit the World's Strongest Slam on Carlito, while Mysterio did a Springboard off the top rope onto Punk. They scored double pins to win it.

Winners: Rey Mysterio &Z Mark Henry win via pinfall over Carlito & CM Punk.

Later tonight, The Miz battles John Morrison, and in the main event its Cena versus Jericho, first time in Iraq.

They rolled a slideshow of still images highlighting the WWE's trip to Iraq and the troops with a Bob Dylan "Forever Young" song as the background music. John Cena, Chris Jericho, John Morrison, The Miz, Mark Henry, and R-Truth were among the superstars shown in the images.

Eve Torres was handling tonight's ring announcer duties and introduced Santa Claus. R-Truth came out dressed as Santa Claus to enlist the troops in his "What's Up" theme song. Truth started talking about his sweet tooth and how he keeps putting on weight because of it. He said he had something extra sweet for them, and the WWE divas came out with bags of gifts. The Bella Twins, Layla, Alicia Fox, and Kelly Kelly were all dressed as Santa's helpers to toss gifts to the crowd. Lawler yelled out that the divas are also giving out kisses to troops in the crowd.

Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler introduced President Barack Obama's previously recorded video message for the troops. The president expressed his gratitude for the troops service and sacrifice, wishing them and their families a happy holidays.

When the show returned, they again hyped Jericho vs Cena for later on, then launched into an extended behind the scenes video about the WWE's visit to the Troops in Iraq. Chris Jericho, MVP, Rey Mysterio, John Cena and R-Truth were shown as were the various divas such as Eve, Bella Twins, Kelly and Alicia. CM Punk was shown getting run down by a militar dog and bitten on the arm in a special protective suit. The Bellas and Kelly Kelly were shown hugging and dancing with troops. They also showed various superstars firing military weapons into the desert sand. Various soldiers said this is the best thing to happen in their lives and the visit makes them happy.

General David Petraeus delivered a video message to the troops and thanked the WWE for this tribute to the US troops around the world. They showed video footage of the efforts the troops are making overseas. Various soldiers showed off pictures of their significant others and kids. Another music video was displayed of the troops and the WWE superstars meeting with them.

John Morrison vs. The Miz
Champion vs Champion match

In the late stages of the match, Morrison got up on the corner with Miz and eventually superplexed him. The move left both guys down on the mat, but Morrison made a cover. Miz got his arm up to prevent the pinfall. Morrison went for Starship Pain from the corner, but Miz moved out of harm's way. From there, he did a rollup pin on Morrison using the corner as leverage to place his feet on the ropes. The ref didn't see it and awarded The Miz the victory.

Winner: The Miz wins via pinfall over John Morrison.

They said John Cena will defend the WWE title in the main event tonight, making the outcome a bit anti-climactic. A Cena highlight video from his appearances at previous Tribute to the Troops was shown, with Cena delivering a heartfelt speech on the mic. Various images were shown of Cena's time spent overseas with the troops.

Chris Jericho vs. John Cena
WWE Title Match

Cole noted that Jericho lost in the TLC match at TLC PPV, as did Cena to Sheamus in the Table match for the WWE title.

In the early part of the match, Jericho dominated, and eventually knocked Cena to the outside. Tribute to the Troops took a commercial break.

Back from break, they showed video footage from a re-enlistment ceremony which various WWE superstars attended including John Cena, The Bella Twins, Mysterio, R-Truth and Vince McMahon. In the ring, Cena was able to get Jericho up for an Attitude Adjustment, but Jericho slid off and turned it into the Walls of Jericho. Cena couldn't grab the ropes so he used his weight to flip Jericho over and then put him into the STF. Jericho was able to crawl his way to grab the bottom rope.

The two opponents ended up battling on the corner of the ring, with Cena lifting Jericho onto his shoulders, teasing the attitude adjustment. Jericho countered and headbutted Cena down to the mat. He flew off the corner into a flying cross body press, but Cena rolled right through. He turned it into an Attitude Adjustment to win via pinfall.

Winner: John Cena wins via pinfall over Chris Jericho to retain the WWE Title.

Cole and Lawler closed things out thanking tonight's musical artists who provided background music including Nickelback, Bob Dylan, David Cook and Bon Jovi. Lawler gave his thanks to all the troops, as well as a Happy Holidays.

2008 WWE Tribute to the Troops Recap

The show opens with a video of highlights discussing the entertaining of American Troops overseas. In the past it was entertainers like Bob Hope and Marilyn Monroe, and now the WWE continues the efforts in a Tribute to the Troops. Superstars and divas were shown embracing and hanging out with the troops including Batista, Jeff Hardy, Mickie James, Kelly Kelly and John Cena.

A video message was shown from President George Bush announcing his pride in the WWE performers and personnel for entertaining the troops. George Bush reminded everyone that our troops are our finest citizens for serving and sacrificing for our nation.

Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler welcomed everyone to the Sixth Annual Tribute to the Troops in Camp Victory, Baghdad, Iraq. Cole and Lawler commentated from the WWE Headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut.

R-Truth, CM Punk & Jeff Hardy vs. John Morrison, The Miz & JBL

Cole mentioned Hardy as the new WWE Champ and Miz Morrison as World Tag Champs despite the fact they weren't wearing the belts. The event had been taped prior to the title changes. R-Truth appeared from the crowd performing "What's Up" to get the crowd riled up. JBL was driven out in a Hum-V to serve as his limo. He handed the drive a tip before arriving to the ring in bulletproof and a helmet with his cowboy hat on.

The troops erupted into a USA chant as the match began with Truth and Morrison. Morrison began beating on Truth in the corner early, but as he whipped him across the ring, Truth did a backflip from the corner then took Morrison down before tossing Miz out of the ring. JBL came in to attack, but Truth ducked down and Jeff Hardy rushed into dropkick JBL. Miz, Morrison & JBL wound up on the outside and Hardy, Punk and Truth dove over the top rope at once onto them as the show took a commercial break.

Later in the match, Punk was getting triple teamed by the heels as they kept him away from a tag. Punk finally managed to tag in Jeff Hardy. Jeff had control against Miz, but Morrison came in to break things up. Punk did a springboard off the ropes to take out Morrison and the two rolled to the outside to battle. Hardy kicked Miz causing him to propel back towards the ropes where JBL slapped his back for a tag. Hardy was about to hit Twist of Fate on Miz, but JBL ran in to clothesline Jeff down. Truth came in and clotheslined Miz to the outside. Jeff and JBL were left inside the ring where JBL managed to stay in control briefly. Jeff was eventually able to duck JBL's Clothesline from Hell, then hit Twist of Fate. Hardy followed up with a Swanton Bomb off the corner onto JBL for the pin.

Winners: Jeff Hardy, CM Punk & R-Truth win via pinfall over JBL, The Miz & John Morrison.

A video was shown of the divas and superstars observing the day to day operations of the troops and thanking them for their efforts. The video was set to Stand By Me and included Mickie James, Maria, Eve, CM Punk, Mysterio, Cena, Kelly Kelly, Alicia Fox, The Miz, Batista, Cryme Tyme, Hardy and R-Truth.

Cryme Tyme came out dressed in Santa costumes. Shad and JTG introduced Santa's helpers. WWE Divas Kelly Kelly, Maria, Eve Torres, Alicia Fox, Mickie James and Maria came out and threw items to the crowd such as T-Shirts and replica belts. Mickie posed with a weapon at the crowd while other divas gave kisses to the troops.

A video was shown to wish the soldiers Happy Holidays through letters written and read by children.

Video shown discussing the progress that has been made in Iraq since 2 years ago. Much is being done to stimulate Iraq's economy and educational system while encouraging more business and activity throughout the cities of Iraq.

Rey Mysterio, Batista & John Cena vs. Chris Jericho, Randy Orton & The Big Show
Six Man Tag Match

Cole mentioned that this was the first trip ever to Iraq for Batista. Mysterio ran and dove into the audience for a brief crowd surf before the match.

Batista and Orton started off the match with Orton trying to beat up Batista in the corner. As Orton whipped Batista to the other corner, Batista reversed it and clothesline Batista. Batista set up for the Bomb, but Orton ducked down and clipped Batista's leg. Jericho tagged in and was in control until Batista hit a side slam then tagged in Mysterio. Mysterio went wild as he leapt off the top rope onto Jericho. Jericho tried to whip Mysterio to the ropes, but ended up getting kicked into the ropes. As Mysterio ran to hit the 619, Big Show was outside the ring and grabbed Mysterio's legs to pull him out. Show tossed Mysterio down as the Tribute show went to a break.

Later still in the match, Jericho took control of Mysterio and brought him to the corner. Jericho and Show began to argue as Jericho slapped Show twice to tag him in. Show entered the ring and Chokeslammed Jericho down then headbutted Orton down. Show exited the ring leaving his tag partners down in the ring as he walked to the back smirking.

Mysterio managed to jump over for a tag to Cena just as Jericho tagged Orton. Cena came in on a rampage knocking Orton down, then hitting the Five Knuckle Shuffle. Cena had Orton up for the FU, but Jericho ran in to kick him. Batista came in to knock Jericho out of the ring, but Orton was back up and knocked The Animal down. As Batista rolled out of the ring, Orton prepared for the RKO on Cena. Cena got up but was able to shove Orton away causing him to crash into Orton in the ring. The two men conveniently fell onto the middle rope and Rey was back into the ring for the 619 on both men. From there, Batista grabbed Jericho for a Batista Bomb while Cena grabbed Orton for the FU. Cena took the winning pinfall on Orton.

Winners: Batista, Rey Mysterio & John Cena win via pinfall over Randy Orton, Chris Jericho & Big Show.

The show concluded with a video of the superstars making the trip over to Iraq and spending time with the troops there around the camp.

USA Ratings & John Cena

According to The Nielsen ratings, the USA Network ratings for the week ending December 14th drew in an average of 3.11 million viewers. This ratings surge gave the USA Network a victory in the weekly ratings race over ESPN for the first time since the start of the 2008 football season. (source: smartbrief.com)

The surge in USA's ratings is thanks in large part to the return of flagship WWE Raw superstar, John Cena. Cena has returned to the show as its current World Heavyweight Champion. He'll also be highlighted on this coming Saturday night's NBC "Tribute to the Troops" special. In a recent article and interview with Cena, the champ discusses what it's been like performing overseas and his passion for collecting military memorabilia.

JOHN CENA: I think the word has gotten out over there that I’m a little bit of a stooge for military souvenirs because - One thing I always try to get for myself is - a little [key tick] that I have, myself, is a combat fired shell of munitions, whether it be a 762 or 50-caliber, or, you know, whatever I can find that’s actually been used. And I kind of fill it with dirt from Iraq. So I got five of those at my house, one for every year that I’ve been over there, which is kind of something that I take for me.

But the biggest thing over there is military coins and combat patches. Units, divisions have certain military coins that represent their division or their unit, or their operation, or whatever they do. You’re given these coins by usually ranking officers - Generals or Commanders, or Colonels, or people in charge. Soldiers will often give me their combat badges. That’s a pretty esteemed honor because you’re not supposed to have them unless you’ve served in combat over in the war zone. So it’s an honor when somebody hands you a coin or a patch because it’s almost like you’re accepted into the group. And that is the utmost form of flattery.

Cena Speaks on Tribute to Troops

A John Cena conference call recently went down Tuesday to discuss the upcoming WWE Tribute to the Troops special. The special airs on NBC, Saturday, December 20th at 8PM EST. Cena spoke about the impact of the WWE Divas over in Iraq, who made the trip, and the recent Jeff Hardy controversy among other topics. Kevin Eck who blogs for the Baltimore Sun Ring Posts provided highlights of the call. Here's just a few tidbits from Cena.

What the troops think of the divas: "The divas hold the number one spot. I don’t care how many championship belts I could bring over there. I could bring fireworks. I could bring anything. Those girls certainly hold the number one spot. They are saints for going over there. They are so beautiful and so great to the troops. And the guys just absolutely love them. They are the superstars on that trip."

Whether The Great Khali made the trip: "He did not go this year. I know we can just barely fit Big Show into a plane at 7 feet. I don’t know how we’d wedge Khali in there at about 7-5 -- and he doesn’t bend too well. But I really think he should make a trip over just because of the spectacle of a man that he is. I think the troops would certainly get a kick out of just his shock factor alone."

Thoughts on Jeff Hardy being found “unconscious” in Boston the day of Survivor Series: "I didn’t hear anything about that. ... (the reporter tells him that it was in the news) Oh yeah. I can’t believe CNN actually picked that up right? ... I don’t know how to tell you this, but WWE stands for World Wrestling Entertainment. Have I answered your question?

Hard to say if Cena was mocking the media on the last question above, but it's always possible that the WWE kept its wrestlers ears & eyes closed to the Hardy storyline. John Cena will be facing Chris Jericho this Sunday at Armageddon to defend his World Heavyweight title, just a week ahead of the Tribute to the Troops show, already recorded. In the conference call, Cena also speaks on what fans can expect from him at Armageddon this Sunday, and it won't be pretty for Chris Jericho if all goes as Cena plans.

2008 Tribute to Troops Sneak Peek Photos

WWE has already headed overseas for the taping of the annual "Tribute to the Troops" special, set to air in a few weeks, prior to the Christmas holiday. The event is a wonderful yearly effort by WWE Superstars and divas to bring holiday cheer to the United States troops stationed in Iraq. Superstars and divas involved this year include Mickie James, Eve Torres, Batista, Big Show, John Cena and Jeff Hardy. It features matches involving all the WWE superstars and divas from Raw, Smackdown and ECW, as well as some surprises.

Last year saw an injured John Cena (dressed as Santa Claus) deliver an FU using his hurt shoulder and arm. The event is intended to boost morale and lift the spirits of those who are currently helping protect the homeland and stave off enemy attacks.
