Raw Results 08/09/10

Raw Results from Sacramento, CA:

Cole and Lawler opened the show reminding fans of the main event with John Cena and Bret Hart teaming up against Chris Jericho and Edge. The Nexus members will be lumberjacks around the ring.

Bret 'The Hitman' Hart arrived out to start the show off. Hart told the fans he's been in Calgary the past two weeks training for Summerslam, but has recently seen things falls apart for Team WWE. Hart talked about Edge and Jericho quitting the team, but said when he spoke to John Cena 3 weeks ago he vouched for them. Hart called out Jericho and Edge to talk to him face-to-face right then. Jericho's music hit and he arrived down to the ring to talk.

Hart told Jericho it's put up time and it's a chance for Jericho to stay up to the plate and change things. Hart told Jericho he and Edge are hurting themselves by not joining Team WWE. Bret asked Jericho if he'd re-join Team WWE now, or would disappoint all his fans around the world. Jericho said his answer is still no. Jericho said Hart is more concerned about getting beaten badly tonight in the match against him and Edge. Jericho added that nobody can replace he and Edge in the WWE. He said once again in WWE 'Bret Hart is screwed'.

The Rated-R Superstar Edge arrived out next to join the conversation. Edge talked about how he and Jericho idolized Bret Hart growing up. Edge told Bret 'I don't know about Jericho, but you can count me in'. Jericho looked perplexed and started to get out of the ring. Edge went for a handshake with Bret, then tried to kick him but Bret grabbed Edge's foot. He dropped him to the mat and started going for a Sharpshooter, but Jericho rushed back in and raked Bret in the eyes. Edge and Jericho exited the ring just as Natalya came rushing to the ring in tears. She was yelling at Bret about something, and then the camera showed backstage where Nexus was finishing up a beatdown on The Hart Dynasty in the locker room area. Barrett looked at the camera and told Bret it must be a tough day, because now he can forget Hart Dynasty being their two replacements. Bret and Natalya left the ring to rush backstage.

Backstage, Bret and Natalya were checking on Hart Dynasty with a WWE medical staff. Bret started to leave with a chair to go get Nexus. Cena arrived in and told Bret to stay there and take care of his family.

Evan Bourne vs. The Miz

Late in the match, The Miz got kicked in the stomach repeatedly by Bourne, causing him to fall into the corner. Bourne had a tremendous reverse Sunset Flip type move from the corner for a very near fall. Miz responded with a clothesline to level Bourne. He waited for Bourne to get up then hit Skullcrushing Finale for the win.

The Miz got on the mic after his win. Miz said he doesn't care if it's Sheamus or Orton with the belt after Summerslam, because when he's ready to cash in he will become WWE Champion.

Winner: The Miz wins via pinfall over Evan Bourne.

They showed John Cena trying to have a conversation with Great Khali backstage. Ranjin Singh wasn't around to translate.

Melina vs. Alicia Fox

Melina was in her first match since arriving back from a knee injury last week. Alicia Fox made claims a week ago that she's beaten every diva Raw has to offer.

Melina went on a tear during the match, with a series of moves including her bend backwards Matrix-style duck of Alicia's clothesline. Alicia got caught in several moves and eventually rolled outside. Melina went out and around the side of the ring but Alicia cut her off with a clothesline. Back in the ring. Alicia continued to punish Melina in the ring hitting a huge backbreaker for a near fall. Alicia got Melin a up on her back to stretch her out even more. Melina let out a primal scream before doing a Last Call Sunset Bomb to grab the pinfall on Alicia.

Winner: Melina wins via pinfall over Alicia Fox.

Backstage, Josh Matthews interviewed Great Khali without Ranjin Singh. He asked Khali if after talking with John Cena if his allegiance is to Team WWE or Nexus. Khali grabbed the mic and yelled "WWE". Matthews thanked him but Khali yanked the mic again and began speaking in his language. Matthews asked if he could say what he said in English. Khali said "Wade Barrett, you and me tonight!"

During break, Michael Cole read an email from the anonymous GM. The GM ordered Alicia Fox to defend the WWE Divas Title against Melina at Summerslam 2010. Michael Cole said also during break the GM emailed to tell them that Wade Barrett will face Khali one-on-one tonight. Also tonight there will be a Divas Summertime Spectacular tag match. Also, Sheamus plans to call out Randy Orton tonight.

Backstage, Edge and Jericho talked over what happened out in the ring with Bret Hart. Jericho said maybe Hart's right that Nexus could take over Raw and he and Edge could be ostracized. Edge told Jericho that they've survived every big name in the business: Rock, Stone Cold, Undertaker, DX, etc. Jericho told Edge he's right and tonight they'll take out Cena and Hart, to get rid of the Summerslam match.

They showed R-Truth and John Morrison talking about having each other's backs in the Nexus feud. Mark Henry walked up and said he's got their backs and to consider his next match 'his audition'.

The Nexus was shown gathered together watching a flat screen backstage. The members looked over and Barrett gave a signal, so they all filed out of the locker room.

Mark Henry vs. Ted Dibiase

Dibiase was accompanied to the ring by Maryse. As Mark Henry was arriving to the ring, Nexus members Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater were on the steel steps to block Henry. Skip Sheffield, Michael Tarver, David Otunga and Darren Young attacked from behind, beating down on Mark Henry. They tossed him hard shoulder-first into the steel steps, then left the scene through the audience. Several officials rushed out to check on Henry.

WWE Champ Sheamus was shown walking backstage. Lawler said Sheamus plans to call out Randy Orton next.

Highlights were shown from last week's main event. The Miz seemed to have control against Randy Orton, but Orton caught him with a surprise RKO for the win. Sheamus tried to rush down the ramp to the ring, but Orton dropped down in his Viper style pounding the mat with his fists to head him off.

The Celtic Warrior made his way to the ring after letting out a big yell. Mark Henry was being helped backstage by referees as Sheamus walked past. Sheamus said Orton's been all talk, but Sheamus isn't and that's why he's WWE Champion. Sheamus said if anyone things Orton will just swoop into Summerslam and take the title away, they should watch the following video closely.

They rolled a highlight package of Sheamus dominating various wrestlers, putting Jamie Noble into retirement and sending HHH out on a stretcher. Sheamus said right now he wants to tell Orton face-to-face. Orton's music interrupted any further speaking by Sheamus as The Viper came to the ring.

Orton said Sheamus had the opportunity to take him out in the ring last week and blew it, just like he'll do at Summerslam. The fans started up a R-K-O chant and Orton paused with a smirk. Orton told Sheamus the fact remains, Sheamus has never beaten him and never will. Sheamus brought up how he's defeated HHH and Cena. Orton interrupted saying he's not HHH and certainly isn't John Cena. Sheamus told him he's not WWE Champion either. Sheamus said after Orton loses he goes back to the end of the line like Cena.

Orton told Sheamus if he wants to redeem himself to do something about it. Just as they got into a staring contest, the email sound came over the speakers as the lights blinked. Cole read the GM's latest email. The GM said in the past Sheamus' matches have had outside interference, so if anyone interferes at Summerslam, those superstars will get suspended indefinitely. The GM added that if Orton loses he will go to the back of the line like Sheamus suggested. The GM said he agrees with Orton that if Sheamus isn't scared, to do something about it, right now.

Sheamus shook his head and backed away. He rushed towards Orton with a fake punch then smirked before turning to leave. Orton rushed and attacked him from behind, but Sheamus got the upperhand. Orton managed to dodge his big boot kick and hit a huge backbreaker on Sheamus. Sheamus stayed face down then got on his hands near the corner. Orton had backed up and rushed for a punt kick but stopped short just to scare Sheamus. Orton grabbed the WWE belt outside the ring to raise it up.

Kaval, Percy Watson & Lucky Cannon vs. Husky Harris, Michael McGillicutty & Alex Riley

A rare NXT rookies tag match took place on Raw. Sheamus was shown watching from ringside looking majorly upset.

Kaval came in with a series of high flying moves including a springboard kick from off the top rope. Kaval had a pin on Riley, but McGillicutty ran in to break it up. Lucky Cannon came in the ring to take out McGill to the outside. Kaval seemed to have Riley under control but Husky Harris slapped Riley's back to tag in. Kaval got clobbered down by Harris then hit with his running Senton Bomb.

Following the bell, Sheamus took out Cannon and McGill on the outside. He rushed into the ring as Percy Watson, Husky and Riley all fled the scene. Kaval was left behind so Sheamus did his finisher Cross move on him to toss him across the ring. Sheamus said what he just did was a message to the GM, WWE Universe and Randy Orton. He said next week he'll still be WWE Champion.

Winners: Husky Harris, Michael McGillicutty & Alex Riley win via pinfall over Kaval, Lucky Cannon and Percy Watson.

The Bella Twins vs. Eve & Gail Kim vs. Maryse & Jillian

Santino Marella and Vladimir Kozlov served as two special guest referees for the match. The divas arrived to the ring down a big inflated water slide. Maryse shoved a big summer hat she was wearing into Eve's face as the bell sounded. Eve responded by pouncing on Maryse to pound her head to the mat.
Jillian and Maryse used some sneaky double team attacks while Santino was distracted. One of the Bellas had a near fall on Jillian, but Eve came in and broke it up, then used a neckbreaker on her. All of the divas got involved in antics in the ring, with it eventually turning into just The Bellas and Jillian. For the finish one of the Bells hit a high cross body from the corner to pin Jillian.

After the ring cleared of everyone but Santino, Tamina from The Usos arrived to the ring. She stood in front of Santino and when he tried to go around her she kept blocking his path. Santino finally got to walk by and she slapped his behind. Santino talked to Kozlov about it on the ramp.

Winner: The Bella Twins win the Summerslam Spectacular Divas match.

They showed The Great Khali walking backstage on his way out to take on Wade Barrett of The Nexus. Suddenly, Khali had his leg clipped by Barrett and all of the Nexu members started attacking him. They continued stomping on his leg. A ref ran over to help Khali yelling for some help.

The Nexus arrived to the ring, moments after they attacked Khali backstage. Barrett announced he was just informed that the Wade Barrett vs Great Khali match has been canceled. Barrett said the balance of power on Raw is about to shight permanently after Summerslam. They talked about how they will damage Team WWE physically and break them mentally so they'll never recover. They showed John Cena and Bret Hart walking backstage. Miz was standing there gloating. He said to them he knew it was only a matter of time before they came to ask for his help. He told them he wanted to hear it from both of them. Both Cena and Hart asked Miz if he was in or out. Miz said he'll let them know on Sunday.

Cole announced that next week the show will feature Guest Host Justin Long from the new movie 'Going the Distance'.

John Cena & Bret Hart vs. Chris Jericho & Edge
The Nexus as Lumberjacks

During the match, Jericho got attacked on the outside by all of Nexus. Edge tried to intervene but also got beatdown. Bret Hart grabbed Justin Gabriel into the ring and beat on him a bit, before Gabriel was saved by Nexus.

Barrett held a group meeting outside the ring to talk strategy. All of Nexus got up on the apron. John Morrison and R-Truth rushed to the ring to join Cena and Hart. Jericho and Edge were trying to walk backstage up the ramp. They stopped a few times then finally turned and rushed to the ring to stand with the other Team WWE members. A big brawl in the ring ensued with Team WWE able to beat Nexus out of the ring. Nexus members fled through the audience and up into the stands. Meanwhile Team WWE remained in the ring with its 6 members as Khali was injured earlier.
