Raw Results 11/28/11

Raw Results from Columbia, SC:

The opening segment of Raw was Piper's Pit.  Roddy Piper had John Cena as his guest and discussed how Cena may be losing "it" with the fans.  Cena talked about how he appeals to a certain core of loyal fans and there are others who will never like him.  He said he can't please them all, but he will never be rattled, and on April 1st he'll beat Rock at WrestleMania.  Piper tried to get Cena fired up with a slap to the face, after handing Cena a WWE HOF ring to check out.  Cena shook his head that he wasn't going to do it.  He handed the ring back to Piper, and kissed his dog tags before leaving the ring.

The Miz defeated John Morrison in a Falls Count Anywhere match.  Miz attacked Morrison's leg before the match with a steel pipe, hobbling JMo.  Morrison got in some shots with a kendo stick and chased Miz up the ramp.  However, The Miz was able to ram JMo head first into the big WWE logo on stage, and then hit Skullcrushing Finale on him up on stage.  The ref checked on Morrison and after determining he was KO'd, called for the bell.

The Miz gave an ice cold look straight ahead and at Morrison who was on the stage.  JMo was taken away on a stretcher.  Cole talked about how Miz was eliminating all of those superstars who've held him back.  Miz delivered a promo saying it was Truth last week, Morrison this week, and who next week?

Kelly Kelly & Alicia Fox defeated The Bella Twins by pinfall despite attempted distraction by Beth Phoenix and Natalya.

They had a backstage segment with Laurinaitis on the phone to Brodus Clay saying he won't debut for another week.  Otunga came in to ask why he won't let Clay debut already.  Laurinaitis said he's doing Clay a favor to let him stew until he's ready to explode in the ring.  Del Rio came in and told the GM that Survivor Series was a minor setback, and tonight he leaves as WWE champ.  CM Punk came in and cracked some jokes about Google searches on them all.  Punk vowed to prevent vanilla GM from having his vanilla champion.  Punk left, and Otunga suggested Laurinaitis make a stipulation in case Punk tries for a DQ to keep the title.  John made it that if Punk does, he loses the title to Del Rio.

Wade Barrett arrived to ringside for commentary for the Randy Orton vs. Dolph Ziggler match.  During the match, Barrett got up on the apron to distract Orton.  Orton dropkicked him off, but Ziggler managed to take advantage of the distraction, hitting the Zig Zag on Orton for the win.

They had a segment with Michael Cole interviewing Daniel Bryan, or taunting him about how he lied about cashing in the MITB at WrestleMania.  Cole had the replay shown of Bryan thinking he won the World Title on Smackdown, but then being told Henry was injured and unable to compete.  During the segment Bryan called Cole one of the worst announcers ever.  Mark Henry came out to talk trash about how he'd be ready to go in the cage because he's one of the toughest men ever in WWE.  Bryan walked up the stage and got in Henry's face before kicking him in the hurt leg and leaving.  Cole was back on commentary saying Bryan will get his in the cage tomorrow night.

CM Punk defeated Alberto Del Rio by pinfall to retain the WWE Championship. During the match there were several near-DQ's, including a steel chair tossed into the ring by Ricardo Rodriguez. Del Rio threw it to Punk who threw it back to Del Rio and then pretended he had been hit by it. The ref almost DQ'd Del Rio. At one point, Del Rio had removed the top turnbuckle cover, and later Punk was able to drop Del Rio onto it to get the winning pinfall. Ricardo Rodriguez tried to complain to the ref about the finish, but ended up getting GTS.

Raw Results 06/13/11 - All-Star Edition

Raw Results from Uniondale, NY:

Tonight's special 3-hour All-Star edition of Raw had Stone Cold Steve Austin as host. It opened with The Miz coming to the ring to talk about being the all-time greatest WWE All-Star, especially after he and R-Truth won their match against Cena and Riley last week. Miz said later tonight he'll call out Austin, because he's sick of the Attitude Era stars taking his spotlight. That brought out Austin to confront Miz and silence him in the ring. Miz was able to leave the ring without a Stone Cold Stunnder.

Next up, Alberto Del Rio came driving out in his car. Stone Cold said he books the matches tonight and he lambasted Del Rio for attacking Big Show. Austin said tonight Del Rio faces Kane in the opening match.

Kane won due to DQ of Alberto Del Rio. Del Rio had the cross armbreaker applied and wouldn't break it at the ref's count of 5. He kept it on post-match too, bringing out a surprise return from Big Show. Show tackled Del Rio down in the ring. Ricardo Rodriguez got involved to help Del Rio escape. Show pounded away on Rodriguez until Kane subdued him. Del Rio ran backstage and Austin came out to announce it'll be Del Rio vs Show at Capitol Punishment PPV.

Daniel Bryan, Ezekiel Jackson and Sin Cara defeated Cody Rhodes, Ted Dibiase & Wade Barrett via pinfall. Sin Cara got the win with a cross-body springboard onto Barrett for the pinfall.

Hornswoggle was in-ring shooting T-shirts out to the fans in the crowd. R-Truth came out and interrupted saying he'll beat Cena at Capitol Punishment. Horney shot him in the gut with the T-Shirt bazooka. Truth grabbed him and then kicked him down. Austin appeared on the Titantron and said tonight Truth will get to face someone his own size, John Morrison.

Sheamus defeated Santino via pinfall after connecting on the Brogue Kick.

They showed a replay of Christian's heel turn and the damage he's done to Orton. Randy Orton came to the Raw ring to call out Christian after what he did last week to him on Smackdown. Christian appeared on the big screen and polled the crowd to see if he should come out. He said he doesn't care what they think. Christian came out to the stage anyways. Security got in front of Orton to prevent a brawl. The Raw GM got involved in this, buzzing in to email that tonight Christian will face Rey Mysterio. He said Orton needs to rest due to a concussion so he won't be wrestling tonight. Also announced, Rey Mysterio vs CM Punk at Capitol Punishment in a best 2 of 3 falls match.

Rey Mysterio won due to DQ of Christian after Christian refused to follow the ref's instructions on a 5-count. Post-match saw Christian try to attack Rey, then CM Punk rush out to attack. Rey was able to fight both off, but Nexus also came out. Mason Ryan got the upperhand on Rey and rolled him into the ring. Christian hit the Killswitch on Mysterio for further damage.

Backstage, Vickie Guerrero interrupted Austin on a phone call. She demanded a US Title match for Dolph Ziggler this Sunday at Capitol Punishment. Austin said the match is a done deal, on the condition that Ziggler drops Vickie as his manager. Ziggler contemplated it as Austin told him he needs to do this on his own. Finally Ziggler agreed and said "I'll drop her!" Vickie was livid as Austin laughed it off. He said he was just having some fun because the match is booked already. Ziggler tried to explain himself to Vickie.

Truth came out to the ring for his match against John Morrison. Morrison's music kept playing but no sign of J-Mo. Truth was on the mic and said he can tell Morrison's scared because he would be too. Truth said he'd go backstage and find him himself. Truth found Morrison backstage, layed out on the concrete with a neck injury. Truth added to the injury by ramming a travel trunk into him. He said "Take that Little Jimmy" which drew some laughter from the crowd.

Evan Bourne and Kofi Kingston defeated Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger by pinfall after Evan Bourne hit his Air Bourne move on Swagger.

Cole congratuled Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson for winning the Guys Choice Award for "Biggest Ass Kicker."

They had a Piper's Pit segment with The Miz and Alex Riley. Piper and Miz went back and forth with jabs at each other. Riley came out and proposed that Piper could still wrestle and could beat Miz. Miz said he'd wager $1,000 of his own money he could defeat Piper. Piper said how about $5,000? Austin came on the Titantron and said the match was official, with Alex Riley as the referee.

Roddy Piper defeated The Miz by pinfall. Alex Riley and Miz got into it during the match, with Riley landing a hard punch on him. Piper rolled up Miz for a pinfall with Riley giving a fast count for the win. Post-match, Riley tossed Miz out of the ring and raised up Piper's hand in victory.

Kelly Kelly, AJ, Natalya, Kaitlyn, Eve, Gail Kim & Beth Phoenix defeated Melina, Tamina, Rosa Mendes, Alicia Fox, Maryse & The Bellas by pinfall. Kelly scored the winning pinfall on Rosa for the win.

They had a backstage segment involving Stone Cold Steve Austin and CM Punk. Austin offered Punk a beer several times with Punk saying "What?" Eventually, Punk thanked Austin for booking him against Cena tonight. Austin informed Punk that Nexus isn't allowed ringside tonight. He said he had an announcement to make and left the scene.

Stone Cold came out to the ring. The Raw GM eventually interrupted and informed Austin the anonymous Raw GM will be in control again next week. However, next week's Raw will also be a special 3-hour show. This time will be fan's choice to create the matches. The segment saw the Raw GM continue to try to interrupt Austin, to the point Austin went out and Cole ran away through the crowd. The email sound and lights kept flashing repeatedly. Austin eventually knocked the laptop and podium down. He took the laptop, tossed it down on the ramp and then poured two beers on it. He also drove over it with his ATV several times for good measure. Austin rushed back to the ring to do his celebratory beer bash on the corners.

They had another mock press conference with President Obama to promote Capitol Punishment. This skit featured Christian, Cody Rhodes, Sheamus and Hornswoggle asking questions. Booker pretended he just woke up from a crazy dream and kept asking Lawler, "are you kidding me?"

CM Punk defeated John Cena via pinfall after hitting GTS. R-Truth's distraction in the crowd caused Cena to lose. Truth was finding "Little Jimmy" fans and asked one to trade his Cena hat for a sip of Truth's water. Cena was seen urging the kid not to do it, right before Punk got him with the GTS. Post-match, Truth rushed into the ring wearing a red Cena cap. He smashed a bottle of water on Cena then hit his finisher. Truth left the ring with Cena's WWE Championship.

Next Monday's show will feature a "Power to the People" theme with fans deciding the matches, rules and stipulations during the 3-hour show.

Old School Raw & Aksana Eliminated

On Monday night we got treated to a special 3-hour Raw dubbed "WWE Old School." They even rolled out the old WWF logo for it along with a whole bunch of former WWE legends. It was surprising to see who showed up and who didn't. The usual suspects were there including Gerald Briscoe, Sgt. Slaughter, Roddy Piper, Dusty Rhodes and Arn Anderson. Also on hand were some surprises including Brooklyn Brawler, Harvey Whippleman, George "The Animal" Steele and Slick. Million Dollar Man, IRS, Hacksaw, Superfly Snuka and Mean Gene were all there to reminisce as well. Guys like The Rock and Stone Cold weren't on hand, but neither were really part of the WWF Old School. Bret Hart was though, and he was clearly missing in action. No Ricky Steamboat either which was strange.

Also strange, and maybe winning award for the worst segment of the year was the whole Aksana Goldust Dusty Rhodes trainwreck backstage. It went from tricking Aksana into thinking her mom was nearby, to Goldust yanking the Million Dollar Belt away, to Million Dollar Man getting it back, giving it to his son, to his son giving it back, to a dance party feature Hacksaw, IRS, Kelly Kelly, Aksana and Million Dollar Man. Talk about a fiasco. It may have saved NXT Season 3 from winning the title of "Worst Segment of the Year."

Speaking of NXT, the latest casualty to be sent home was Aksana, the gold-digging wifey of Goldust. She was saved from deportation for a whole 2 weeks. Not gonna lie, her "Diss the Diva" attempts were hysterical, because she was making no sense whatsoever. For that, she had to go. Now she claims she'll be going to visit Mr. McMahon to petition her elimination. Isn't Mr. McMahon still in a coma though? Good luck with that Aksana!

Anyways, we're getting real close to what should be one of the most riveting PPV's of the year, Survivor Series 2010. Cena's job is on the line and Orton's title is on the line in what could be one of the most interesting matches of 2010. There's also been several more matches added including Sheamus vs Morrison (finally) and a traditional elimination tag team match involving Smackdown stars. Plenty to look forward to on Sunday!

Tommy Dreamer retires from ECW

Last night on SyFy's final ECW of 2009, there was an emotional closing to the program as the ECW original, Tommy Dreamer, made his official retirement and farewell speech to the WWE Universe. This came in the ring just moments after losing a tough match to Zack Ryder.

In the match, Dreamer and Ryder fought it out for almost fifteen minutes. Dreamer thought he had the match won after a suplex off the corner, followed by a DDT. Unfortunately, his pinfall was close to the ropes. Ryder stuck a leg under the bottom rope wisely. The ref caught it, and told Dreamer the match must continue. Dreamer kept on trying to end things and put Ryder on the corner for another suplex. This time around, Ryder countered in the air turning it into a lateral press. He locked up a pinfall to seal Dreamer's fate and send him home from ECW/WWE for good.

Dreamer gave a passionate speech following the loss about being passionate about your dreams, and to keep getting up whenever life knocks you down. There's no doubt that as one of the true innovators in extreme wrestling, Dreamer has been knocked around quite a bit, but kept getting back up. In fact, he returned to form by reclaiming the ECW title for his second official reign.

Dreamer, whose real name is Thomas Laughlin, got his start with Eastern Championship Wrestling (ECW) in 1992, which eventually changed its name to "Extreme Championship Wrestling". During his memorable career, Dreamer feuded with the likes of Raven, Sandman and the Dudley Boyz. His wife Beulah was also involved in several of the storylines throughout Dreamer's first nine years with ECW until 2001 when the company folded. ECW made its comeback via WWE in 2005, with Dreamer once again part of leading the way with the ECW originals. Dreamer's story earlier in 2009 was that he would retire if he could not win the ECW title before his contract expired in April. He had an official title match against Christian on April 28th, which was interrupted by an envious Jack Swagger. However, Dreamer was given a one day extension to his contract, and won the ECW title on 4/29/09 to become a two-time ECW Champion. He's also the only wrestler to have held the title while with ECW and then WWE. See more about Dreamer at his official Wikipedia entry.

With the way things ended on Raw for John Cena being layed out in his WWE title rematch, and now with Dreamer being retired on ECW, it makes you wonder what could possibly be coming next for Superstars or Smackdown. After all they say bad things tend to happen in threes. Dreamer's departure also makes for the departure of another daredevil/extreme type, as earlier this year we saw CM Punk retire Jeff Hardy on Smackdown.

Best wishes go out to Tommy Dreamer, who has always been a true ECW & WWE innovator. It's been noted he will likely show up again with TNA wrestling, but never say never about Dreamer making a WWE return in some capacity in the future.

Raw Recap 11.16.09

Raw recap from New York City:

After the WWE's standard quick video intro, next up was Roddy Piper on camera. A Piper's Pit flag was shown. Piper introduced actor Luis Guzman who was in Traffic, Carlito's Way and Boogie Nights. His new movie is "Old Dogs" starring John Travolta and Robin Williams. Piper mentioned that Mr. T is in the new movie, but Guzman told him he's not. Piper started going off about Mr. T. He asked Guzman about his passion for cooking and then told him he brought the Iron Chef himself in, Bobby Flay. He asked "Betty" and "Boops" to bring in Iron Chef, but instead they escorted the Iron Sheik in to have a seat. Guzman shook his hand and brought up an incident with Hulk Hogan. Sheik started to go off about how he's better than Hogan and all sorts of other crazyness. Piper calmed everyone down, and then in unison they said "Live from New York, it's Monday Night Raw!"

The new Raw intro was shown featuring the song by Nickelback, "Burn it to the Ground". Michael Cole welcomed fans back to MSG, original home of Raw. Cole and Lawler hyped up tonight's big Triple Threat Tag team match right ahead of Survivor Series. Undertaker will make a rare appearance on Raw. Justin Roberts introduced the opening contest, a United States title match.

MVP vs. The Miz
United States Championship

Miz got on the mic prior to the match. Miz asked why the fans were hating on him if they love champions. Miz asked if the Yankees were really champions. Miz said they didn't earn the World Series title, they bought it. Miz told them everyone hates the New Yorkers and their sports franchises. A "Lets go Yankees" chant started up to Miz' disgust. Miz said he's better than everyone else there, because he earned his title rather than buying it.

MVP came out wearing a Yankees ball cap, then found Sheri Shepherd in the crowd to put the cap on while planting a kiss on her. During the match, after a tangle out of the ring, MVP got the Ballin Elbow in the ring. He went for the Playmaker but Miz countered to escape. MVP caught him with a big boot though to drop him. After a near fall, Miz whipped MVP to the corner. Miz charged at him but MVP leapt up. Unfortunately for him, Miz grabbed MVP's legs onto his shoulders, dropped MVP and kicked him in the gut on the way down. MVP stumbled into center ring where Miz grabbed him to hit the Skullcrushing Finale.

Winner: The Miz wins via pinfall over MVP to retain the United States Championship.

Coming up later tonight, Alicia James challenges Melina for the Divas Championship.

The WWE Slam of the Week showed last week's guest host Ricky Hatton taking on Chavo Guerrero in the boxer vs wrestler match. Chavo tried to elude Hatton by ducking under the ropes a lot. Eventually, Chavo got a take down on Hatton, but ultimately Hatton escaped his bear hug and delivered a solid punch to knockout Chavo for the win.

Santino Marella vs. Chavo Guerrero

Santino came out decked out in a big NY Rangers hockey sweater. He pulled that off to reveal a New York Giants jersey underneath. Next he revealed a Knicks jersey, then a Jets jersey, then a Mets jersey, a Phillies jersey and then a Yankees jersey. After the antics were over, Chavo walked over to jokingly offer a handshake. Santino shook and Chavo kicked him in the gut, then did the Tres Amigos suplexes. He went to one corner for the Frogsplash but Santino had rolled over a bit and was too far. Chavo went to the other corner, and Santino rolled towards the opposite corner. Santino did it again as Chavo went to that corner.

Hornswoggle came sneaking out wearing DX gear and holding glow sticks. Chavo was distracted as Horney got on the apron to do the DX crotch chop. Santino grabbed him for a surprise pin from behind to win it.

Winner: Santino Marella wins via pinfall over Chavo Guerrero.

No sooner had Santino won the match, than D-Generation X's theme music hit and out came Triple H and Michaels. After the crowd died down, Triple H began the started talking about their plans to come out tonight and have some fun. HHH and Michaels said they weren't going to mention that their book is on sale at WWEShop.com or at the Borders in Penn Station. Michaels tossed his copy to Sheri Shepherd in the audience.

Triple H brought up Survivor Series and the Triple Threat match scheduled for the WWE Title. HHH mentioned how Cena said this is the beginning of the end for DX. Triple H said they've come to terms that only one of them can be the WWE Champion, and it won't matter who it is as long as the title comes to DX. Next they called Hornswoggle out because he continually wears DX gear he didn't pay for. HHH said if Hornswoggle came out, they'd consider allowing him to be part of DX. Hornswoggle emerged from under the ring and got in with HHH/Michaels. He started running around doing the crotch chop at both guys.

HHH invited Hornswoggle to take part in the standard DX intro with the "Are you ready?" and "Lets get ready to..." HHH stopped short on that part, kicked Hornswoggle in the gut and put him in Pedigree position. The crowd had a mixed reaction as HHH finally went through with it, leaving Hornswoggle face down on the mat. DX slid out of the ring, then brought out a DX stretcher from under the ring so they could transport the knocked out Hornswoggle backstage.

Raw returned to replay the last moments of the DX-Hornswoggle scene featuring the Pedigree by HHH. Michael Cole said it was another classic MSG moment.

Jerry the King Lawler mentioned the song "Empire State of Mind" by Jay-Z featuring Alicia Keys available on Jay-Z's Blueprint 3 album. They played a snippet, then Michael Cole discussed the magic of MSG with Lawler. They rolled out a montage of highlights from MSG and WWE with the Jay-Z song as the background music. Everyone was featured in the video from Hulk Hogan to Ultimate Warrior, The Rock, John Cena, Stone Cold and even current TNA star, Kurt Angle. UFC star and former WWE wrestler, Brock Lesnar was also shown.

Cole said history will be made again tonight with the main event Triple Threat tag match.

Chris Jericho walked up to Roddy Piper backstage in Piper's Pit. Jericho noted that Piper had a huge picture of himself on the wall but needed one of Jericho instead. Piper began to constantly blow his nose and ignore what Jericho had to say. He told Jericho he had something special for him, then brought Chris Masters over. He yelled for someone to hit the music, and Black Eyed Peas' "Boom Boom Pow" started playing as Masters made his breasts move to the music. Jericho looked disgusted by it, but the Bella Twins came in and seemed to enjoy it. They escorted Masters out of the picture. Piper slapped Jericho on the chest and said it was nice talking to him again.

One half of the group Black Eyed Peas were shown in the Raw crowd. Fergie and will.i.am were not there.

Alicia Fox and Melina were shown walking backstage on a split screen, en route to their upcoming divas title match.

Alicia Fox vs. Melina
WWE Divas Championship

Guest ring announcer was Judah Friedlander from "30 Rock" on NBC. Justin Roberts introduced him as the "greatest athlete in the world". Alicia Fox walked up to Judah after he intro'd her and told him to say she would be the next divas champ. Judah said sorry no can do, and told her he was there for 2 reasons. To watch Melina's ring entrance, and announce that this would be a Divas Championship Lumberjills match.

The Lumberjills were the other divas who will make up the divas Survivor Series match: Eve Torres, Mickie James, Kelly Kelly, Gail Kim, Beth Phoenix, Layla, Jillian and Michelle McCool.

Alicia scored early when she was able to send Melina outside near the heel divas. They all began pounding away on Melina before the face divas came over to break it up. Melina was tossed back in for Alicia to work on. Alicia hit her Tiltawhirl backbreaker for a near fall. Alicia grabbed Melina and tried to put her into some sort of stretched out submission, wrapping her around her back. Melina countered to turn it into a Sunset Flip pinfall for the win. There was no victory celebration though because all of the divas entered the ring for an all-out brawl amongst each other. The face divas of Team Mickie cleaned out the ring and then Judah got back in to celebrate with them.

Winner: Melina wins via pinfall over Alicia Fox to retain the WWE Divas Championship.

Michael Cole said Roddy Piper will come out to the ring live next.

Michael Cole mentioned how WWE.com has a "Which Survivor are you?" quiz and other Survivor Series related stuff you can check out.

Cole then told fans that WWE and USA network reached an agreement today to keep Raw on the air through the year 2014.

Guest host Rowdy Roddy Piper came out to the ring. Piper said a lot has changed since he was part of WWE. He then began to list off the classic wrestlers who appeared in MSG including Andre the Giant and Hulk Hogan. He said he's the reason Hulk Hogan doesn't have any more hair. Piper said he's done a lot of nasty jobs during his career, but he's got one left to do. Piper said he wants one more match with Vince McMahon. He said Vince is a real fan of his, and he fired him in MSG. Piper called Vince out and he showed up wearing his suit, strutting out from backstage.

Vince said Piper's done some awful things but the worst was showing up here tonight. Vince began to make jokes about Piper's age, and his kilt. Vince began to gloat about his good looks and said he's always looked better than and beaten all of the WWE Superstars. Vince said he was officially retired from ring action as of now. Piper called Vince a coward, saying he was backing out of a fight. Piper said Vince needs to fear him because he's not sane. Piper said he doesn't want a fight at Wrestlemania or a Pay-Per-View. Piper told Vince to show up later and he'll retire him for real.

Lawler and Cole hyped the upcoming Triple Threat tag match. Vince was still saying stuff on the mic to the MSG crowd, with the sound people trying to edit it.

Next Monday's Raw will be a 3 hour event hosted by Jesse "the Body" Ventura.

When Raw returned. Cole and Lawler mentioned all the celebs in the house tonight including Black Eyed Peas, Luis Guzman and Sheri Shepherd. Lawler said Piper has challenged Vince to a Street Fight tonight but will Vince accept?

Footage was shown from 2 weeks ago when Sheamus brutally destroyed Jamie Noble in a match. According to Cole and WWE.com, Noble has officially retired. Sheamus got on the mic to say he's been around Raw for 4 weeks, and already put one man out of the business. Sheamus challenged anyone with the guts to come out and face him. Nobody came out from backstage so Sheamus left the ring and gave the mic to Justin Roberts who was sitting near the crowd barrier.

Sheamus grabbed a nearby WWE worker and started to push him around by the face. He then kneed the guy in the gut and tossed him across the Raw commentators table. Jerry Lawler stood up with Cole, and asked Sheamus what he was doing. Lawler tore his headset off then received a big boot to the face from Sheamus. Sheamus left the scene with the WWE worker and Lawler both layed out. Officials rushed over to check on both men and eventually helped Lawler to his feet and to the back. Several replays were shown of the incident with no commentary.

Raw returned with Matt Striker there to fill in for the injured Lawler. Cole said Striker lives in New York City and happened to be there for the show. Striker said it was a blatant ambush by Sheamus on Lawler. Cole sounded dejected but then started talking about Team Kingston vs Team Orton and other Survivor Series matches.

Evan Bourne vs. Jack Swagger

Last week Evan Bourne had a huge victory over Jack Swagger who had promised to finish out 2009 undefeated. Swagger was distracted when The Miz arrived out to ringside. Tonight, Swagger and Bourne would have a rematch.

Late in the match, Bourne gained momentum. Despite being dumped over the ropes he landed on the apron and then did a roundhouse kick to Swagger's head. Swagger stumbled back some, while Bourne got on the corner. He did his double knee jump into Swagger's chest and had a near fall. Bourne tried for a flip move off the other corner but Swagger caught him on one shoulder, then rammed him into the corners. Swagger followed up with a Gutwrench Powerbomb for the win.

Winner: Jack Swagger wins via pinfall over Evan Bourne.

Rowdy Roddy Piper was shown walking backstage on his way out for a possible Street Fight against Vince McMahon.

Upon Raw's return, a stat revealed that fans from all 50 states plus 22 different countries have purchased tickets for Wrestlemania 26.

Roddy Piper vs. Vince McMahon
Street Fight

Piper came out dressed in a black Hot Rod shirt and jeans. Piper was awaiting Vince McMahon, and requested a mic. Before Piper could even speak, Randy Orton's theme music hit and out came The Viper.

Orton told Piper he's got a big problem because now he's in the ring. Orton said if Piper wants a fight, well...Orton kicked Piper in the gut hard. Striker said maybe this has something to do with Piper and Cowboy Bob Orton from back in the day. Cole said no it's not, Orton has just been unhinged for weeks now. Piper got back up to his feet and struck Orton in the face. Orton knocked him back down and began stomping away. Orton prepared for a punt kick, but stopped short.

Kofi Kingston's music hit and Kofi rushed into the ring to tackle Orton down to the mat. Kofi kept unloading and Orton eventually slipped out of the ring. He tried to back up towards the exit, but Kofi came out and grabbed him for some more. Eventually, Kofi tossed Orton into the crowd then went after him for more beating. Orton began fighting back out in the crowd, tossing Kofi face first into a chair seat. The two men kept trading offense, and Orton tossed Kofi over the barrier back out of the crowd. He began to stomp on Kofi then choke him and then brought Kofi into the ring to catapult him into the bottom rope. Orton prepared for a punt kick on Kofi, but Kofi was back up and jumped to take Orton down. Orton slid to the outside, with Kofi chasing him and eventually tossing Orton hard into the crowd barrier.

The fight went back into the crowd, and eventually up into the stands where Kingston was stomping on Orton. Referees tried to break it up. Kofi tossed Orton down into the technical area near the fans. Kofi picked up a steel lid to a piece from the technical cases, and bashed Orton in the face, then continued beating away on him. With Orton layed out on a table below part of the crowd, Kofi got up on a railing to do a high risk move. Two referees grabbed his legs to pull him down. As the fans booed, Kofi managed to break away from the refs and got up on the railing. He did the Boom Boom leg drop on Orton crashing through the table with him. Several replays followed.

Winner: No match due to Orton and Kofi's interference and eventual brawl.

Striker and Cole told fans that the new Raw theme "Burn it to the Ground" by Nickelback is available in stores now.

John Cena was backstage to cut a promo talking about New York and MSG. Cena brought up the Triple Threat match for Survivor Series, but at first said it was a 2-on-1 Handicap match. Some guy handed Cena a note. Cena read it and said he was mistaken, because the SS match will be a Triple Threat. Cena said he hopes DX stays friends because on the Raw after SS they'll need a shoulder to lean on when they realize "the champ is here".

D-Generation X vs. JeriShow vs. Undertaker & Cena
Triple Threat Tag Match

JeriShow was out to the ring first. Then came D-Generation X followed by Cena. Undertaker was the final man intro'd for the match. Hooded druids came out with torches in hand. They lined up along the sides of the crowd with their torches held up high for Undertaker to pass underneath.

The rules of this match allowed one man from each team in the ring at the same time. You can only tag your tag partner in. First man to score a pinfall, submission will win the match for his team.

At one point early on, Jericho tagged Big Show in, so Michaels tagged HHH in and Cena tagged in Taker. Taker and HHH stared in each others' eyes then turned to begin punching on Show. Show was eventually knocked out of the ring. From there, Undertaker took down HHH. Soon thereafter it ended up with Michaels and Undertaker one on one in the ring. Michaels started to strike Taker to the ropes, then skinned the cat. Taker had him in Tombstone position, but Big Show got back in the ring. Michaels escaped to throw Taker in the way of a spear from Show. Michaels went for Sweet Chin Music but was clotheslined down. Jericho tagged in to hit a bulldog on Michaels. He went for Lionsault with Michaels sticking both knees up. Jericho recovered to go for Walls of Jericho with Taker coming over to grab him by the throat. As Taker backed up a bit for a Chokeslam Cena slapped his back for the tag.

HHH tagged back in and got right in Cena's face. Cena did a You Cant see me, so HHH gave him a DX crotch chop. Show had tagged back in, and walked over to double chokeslam both guys down. Undertaker got into the mix to take Show down with a huge clothesline. He kicked Show out of the ring. Undertaker went out but ended up getting whipped into the crowd barrier. Meanwhile, Jericho went for a pinfall on Cena.

The closing moments of the match became frantic as each man was able to hit their finisher on someone else. Show headbutted down HHH before he could Pedigree Cena. HBK hit Sweet Chin Music on Show, but then Jericho hit a Codebreaker on HBK. Undertaker was back in to Chokeslam Jericho. Triple H got to his feet and clotheslined Taker over the top rope. Cena was back up and grabbed HHH for a Attitude Adjustment to capture the win.

As Cena celebrated his team's win, Undertaker came back in and put him into a Tombstone Piledriver. Taker stood tall over Cena with Cole calling this another "Madison Square Garden moment". Striker said it is truly every man for himself. Raw ended with the arena going dark as Undertaker kneeled down in the ring with his championship belt. Everyone else was layed out around or in the ring.

Winners: The team of John Cena & The Undertaker win via pinfall over DX & JeriShow.

Latest WWE News & Notes

There's plenty going on within the WWE this past week. Let's check out what's happening with Raw, ECW and Smackdown as well as outside of the wrestling ring. Here's a recap of this week's news and some of the other more recent wrestling related headlines...

Chris Jericho was pelted by a DX glow stick during Raw in Sheffield, England. It wasn't shown on TV, but after he got hit in the face by the object he began provoking the crowd and that brought on more glow sticks being hurled at him. Check out the YouTube video here.

It's well known by now that TNA has signed Hulk Hogan to help promote their product. Also, WWE legend Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart debuted on TNA this past Thursday to face "Black Machismo" Jay Lethal in a singles bout. They've also televised a meeting involving TNA president Dixie Carter and the TNA wrestlers/knockouts, where Carter basically tells them to step up their performances because now is the company's time to make history. Should WWE worry?

Reportedly, Linda McMahon is doing quite will in her recent political campaign as her opponent Senator Chris Dodd is losing some ground. According to a recent Quinnipiac University Poll, in head to head matchups Dodd is losing 49 to 38 percent to his opponent Rob Simmons, and 43 to 41 percent to Linda McMahon. Read more here.

Surprisingly on ECW from Sheffield, England, William Regal did not capture the ECW title from Christian. It seems they were calling this Regal's last chance to win the belt from Christian, so it makes you wonder who the next contender will be, and also who will the next eventual champ be? Zack Ryder? Shelton? Tommy Dreamer? Vance Archer, or Yoshi Tatsu? Vladimir Kozlov and Ezekiel Jackson just haven't been pushed enough for that role.

WWE Superstars this week saw Matt Hardy defeat DH Smith by pinfall, Shelton Benjamin win against Zack Ryder by countout, and MVP defeat Ted Dibiase by pinfall. Both Hardy and MVP won using a surprise small package pin to grab the win after some distraction, while Ryder lost due to being distracted by WWE Diva Rosa Mendes outside the ring.

On Smackdown, Undertaker defeated Chris Jericho by submission in their first ever match against one another. Big Show came out to help Jericho attack Taker, but Kane came out as well to make a save. Next week, the Brothers of Destruction are reunited in a tag match against JeriShow. I've also seen rumors of a possible Triple Threat for the Unified Tag titles: DX vs. Undertaker/Kane vs. JeriShow....Could be interesting! We get a near preview of that on Raw, only swap in Cena for Kane.

Also on Raw, the show will be guest hosted by WWE legend, Rowdy Roddy Piper in Madison Square Garden. This is of course one week ahead of Survivor Series 2009!

A reminder that you can win tickets to Wrestlemania 26 in Arizona by heading to WGNAmerica.com and entering their contest.

Playboy Buddy Rose Dead at 56

wrestler playboy buddy rose

Legendary wrestling superstar "Playboy" Buddy Rose was found dead in his home this past Tuesday in Vancouver, Washington. Rose who was in the first ever match on a Wrestlemania card was found dead on his couch. He was just 56 years old.

Rose's major star status as a wrestler came during the 70's and 80's, with his work for both the American Wrestling Association (AWA) and WWF. At the first ever Wrestlemania, in the opening bout, Rose played the part of a masked wrestler named "Executioner" who lost to Tito Santana. Also to Rose's credit may be the rise of Rowdy Roddy Piper. Rose and Piper engaged in an early classic wrestling feud while both men were part of Don Owen's Pacific Northwest Wrestling. While Rose didn't achieve any titles within the WWF he shared the tag team titles several times while a part of the AWA and various NWA's. ESPN Classic had been airing many of Rose's classic matches and Buddy Rose himself wrote fans a personal message regarding them at his official website. After his retirement from wrestling, Rose opened his own training school for aspiring wrestlers and also hosted a call-in talk show on a Portland radio station.

There's no official cause of death yet, but a family friend reported that Rose was suffering from a variety of health issues including diabetes. RIP to Playboy Buddy Rose, and deepest condolences to his friends, family and fans.

Jericho's Legends & Tag Title Unifiication

Between the Raw and ECW shows this past week, three new matches were added in to the Wrestlemania 25 card which may have received mixed criticism. First off, WWE Raw saw Jericho call out Hall of Famer Ric Flair to come out of retirement and return to the ring. Flair made a honorable speech defending his career and the send-off he received from the WWE Universe last year. Flair announced he had replacements lined up, and we then learned it takes 3 Hall of Fame caliber superstars to do the job of the Nature Boy. The three legends Jericho had previously bashed in the ring, Roddy Piper, Jimmy Snuka and Ricky the Dragon Steamboat. From there, the three wrestlers managed to take Jericho down in the ring, and Flair caught him with a solid punch outside the ring. Later, a fuming Jericho said it was intention to embarass these hall of famers in one single match, at Wrestlemania 25. It fits the storyline, but t was a bit surprising to see this outcome rather than a one-on-one situation. Flair announced that he'll be ringside along with Mickey Rourke who will also be in attendance. So now everyone in the Jericho storyline gets some sort of involvement and most likely, a satisfying finish to Jericho's big-mouth antics about the legends. Unfortunate that WWE couldn't reel in either Hulk Hogan or Stone Cold Steve Austin for this huge Wrestlemania 25, but there's still that possibility of either or both showing up at some point.

Alfonso Castillo and Seth Mates have more discussion of these WM25 happenings over at Newsday.com. Read Thoughts on Wrestlemania Developments at Newsday.com

Rey Mysterio issued an open challenge to JBL for the Intercontinental Title. JBL most likely will accept against the smaller opponent who he's faced before back in his Smackdown days. After all, Mysterio had no other plans for Wrestlemania 25, and the powers that be allow guys like Mysterio to make their own title matches for Wrestlemania. Strangely, CM Punk must have given up wanting that title back since he's in the MITB match.

Another title match we learned about came on ECW this past Tuesday. Carlito and Primo Colon challenged The Miz and John Morrison to a match to unify the tag team titles. It's winner takes all, and after Mania we'll see just one set of tag team titles in the WWE. My early prediction here is The Miz and Morrison win it to further solidify all their bold claims as the best tag team of all time. As for their arm candy divas, it seems as if the Bella Twins are divided on which team to back. The Bellas started out with Miz and Morrison in the ring, with Nikki claiming they like to be with "winners". Her sister Brie wasn't on board from the looks of things. After The Miz and Morrison tried to taunt the Colons, we saw some good ol' fashioned Carlito apple spitting. Unfortunately for Brie Bella, Miz and Morrison ducked and the apple was spit onto her accidentally. The two twins then got into a catfight in the ring after Nikki laughed at her sister. The tag teams seperated them and Nikki left with Miz and Morrison, while Brie remained in the ring with the Colons. These two can most likely settle things in the ring at the WWE Divas Battle Royal.

The card seems almost complete, with many names still having no involvement in the event. WWE can likely work them in via skits or a huge battle royal for a change at Jack Swagger's ECW title, just like last year. Now the only titles not being defended on the Wrestlemania 25 card are the ECW Title, WWE Divas Championship, the Womens Championship and the United States Championship. With Wrestlemania 25 just a few weeks away, there's still time for business to pick up.

Raw Preview 03.02.09

Last week's Raw saw Triple H make his return to Raw as he attempted to hunt down Randy Orton and extract some less than sweet revenge. Wielding a Sledgehammer, Triple H made his way into the arena, with Randy Orton and his Legacy team accompanying him. The Legend Killer attempted to push the blame away from himself for injuring Vince McMahon, Shane and Stephanie during the past few months. Orton said each of them had become involved in volatile situations and pushed Orton to the brink of his aggression, due to his Intermittent Explosive Disorder. Triple H had heard enough, and after seeing Orton put his hands on his wife Stephanie, The Game took matters into his own hands. On Raw, HHH chased Orton, Rhodes and Dibiase around the ring and backstage with a Sledgeheammer. Hunter caused major damage as he smashed mirrors, doors and a car window, as Legacy managed to make their getaway. It's clear that this situation is far from over, with HHH still unable to get his hands on Orton. What will the next moves be as Raw goes live Monday night? Will Orton retaliate or stay in hiding as the Game pursues him like prey?

Also on the previous Raw, Shawn Michaels faced off against former employer JBL in a match to determine who would face The Undertaker at Wrestlemania 25. Due to the fact that Vickie Guerrero was acting GM in Stephanie McMahon's absence, she decided to go one more match. Her Smackdown star, Vladimir Kozlov, will face Shawn Michaesls tonight. The winner of that contest gets to face the Deadman at WM25 and attempt to break his undefeated streak. Kozlov showed up on Raw to level Shawn Michaels in the ring and triumphantly raise his arms up as a possible preview of the contest. Kozlov also is coming off a huge win on Smackdown against none other than his potential Mania opponent, Undertaker. The Showstopper is capable of pulling off some impressive victories, but is he capable of stopping Kozlov's show on Raw? Which of these two superstars will prevail?

Chris Jericho continues to cross the line on Raw, as he denounces WWE Legends. Jericho's latest target was Ricky "the Dragon" Steamboat, who was announced as a recent inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame. Jericho again badmouthed Steamboat and other "has-beens" as trying to do anything they could to steal the spotlight now that they aren't wrestling. Steamboat retorted by reminding Jericho of an autograph signing he attended years ago, and how he signed an autograph for a young Jericho. In addition, Steamboat told Jericho to remember how he called him an idol in his book release. Jericho was further enraged by the comments and ended up clocking Steamboat in the head with a microphone. With Steamboat leveled on the ramp, Jericho screamed at the legend before heading backstage. Now Jericho has insulted several former greats including Ric Flair, Roddy Piper, and Ricky Steamboat. Will another legend make an appearance on Raw to confront Jericho, or will Jericho continue running off at the mouth?

Raw Preview 02.23.09

Last week's episode of Raw saw the arrival to the show by its two new champions. One champion was there to gloat while another arrived to aid his fallen wife and Raw GM. Superstar Edge, the new World Heavyweight Champion, opened the show, proudly displaying his championship belt with wife Vickie Guerrero by his side. Once the two began embracing passionately in the ring, former champ John Cena decided to arrive and make his rematch demands. Edge immediately let Cena know where he could find him, over on Smackdown. Cena informed Edge that he does have a rematch clause and will exercise that right at some point, and will find Edge. Cena was all business as he put the new champ on notice, but what will be next for the former champion on Raw? Will Cena need to earn his rematch by defeating other stars, or will he be in preparation for a match at Wrestlemania 25?

The second champion to arrive on Raw was Triple H who is the brand new WWE Champion. Unfortunately, Hunter was not in the building to show off his new gold, but instead to rush in and save his wife Stephanie McMahon who was the victim of a Randy Orton RKO. On the latest episode of Smackdown, Triple H informed Jim Ross that Orton had crossed the line, meaning that Triple H will be coming after him. The serious and fuming look on The Game's face as Raw went off the air signaled that Orton will be in for some serious punishment when the two collide. Now with Shane McMahon receiving a punt kick to his head and Stephanie RKO'd, will there be any repercussions for Orton and Legacy? What will be next for the heels and who will be running the Raw show?

Shawn Michaels was all smiles as he arrived to the ring to confront his former boss, John Bradshaw Layfield in the ring. With a victory at No Way Out, Michaels secured all his earnings from JBL as well as his personal freedom, no longer having to do JBL's bidding on Raw or elsewhere. Before Michaels arrived to the ring, JBL began letting everyone know his intentions for Wrestlemania 25, to take out the Undertaker and his impressive undefeated streak. Michaels decided that he and JBL would need to fight each other once again, to decide who was the more worthy opponent for Undertaker at Wrestlemania 25. It's sure to be another tough battle between the self-proclaimed wrestling God and the Showstopper on Raw. Which of these two superstars will come out on top and earn the right to face the Phenom at Mania?

Penn defeats Rourke for Oscar

Chris Jericho may have even more reason to badmouth and trash talk actor Mickey Rourke on Monday Night Raw. The actor failed to win the Oscar award for "The Wrestler" despite his impressive performance in a movie and role that has been praised by critics and pro wrestlers, including Rowdy Roddy Piper and Ric Flair. Sean Penn collected the statue, his second Oscar actor win, for his role in the movie "Milk" as Harvey Milk, the first gay elected official who was later assasinated.

During his speech Penn gave a nod to his fellow nominees including Rourke saying "despite a sensitivity that brings enormous challenges, Mickey Rourke rises again, and he is my brother". Rourke's fellow movie nominee Marisa Tomei also failed in her quest to win an Oscar for Best Supporting actress in "The Wrestler" as the award went to Penelope Cruz for "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" earlier in the night.

Raw Preview 10.13.08

Raw resumes tonight with Cyber Sunday Pay-Per-View approaching fast! Last week, Chris Jericho was in charge of the show in the absence of GM Mike Adamle. Adamle was away on business, meeting with the McMahon's about how to handle running the Raw program. When Adamle returned briefly at the end, he said he was going to start shaking things up more. What sorts of things did the McMahons discus with GM Adamle regarding Raw, and what changes will Adamle be making? Are his days numbered as the GM, or is there a new "sheriff" in town on Raw?

At the end of the program, Adamle also announced the blockbuster Cyber Sunday match of Batista challenging Jericho for the World Heavyweight title. The stipulation is that the fans will vote for the guest referee. This came after Jericho put Batista into a repeat #1 Contender's match, forcing the Animal to overcome tough odds to re-claim his #1 Contender status. Now, the two will meet at the PPV for the title, with the WWE Universe getting to vote for the special guest referee. Will the various candidates for ref begin to lobby on Raw? Fans can choose from Randy Orton, Shawn Michaels and a familiar favorite, the Texas Rattlesnake, Stone Cold Steve Austin!

Another Raw superstar who will be part of Cyber Sunday is Intercontinental Champion, Santino Marella. Marella has been boasting for weeks about being the greatest IC champ of all time. He uses a special "Honk-a-meter" to inform fans how many more weeks he has to overtake the Honky Tonk Man's 50 some week reign as IC champ. Santino is backed by his girlfriend, Beth Phoenix The Glamazon, who has helped him out on numerous occasions. What will Glamarella have in store for tonight's show? What will Santino have to say regarding each of his potential opponents at Cyber Sunday: Roddy Piper, Goldust, or the legendary Honky Tonk Man?

Catch all the action of Monday Night Raw tonight at 9PM EST on USA!
