Umaga dead, Eddie Fatu dies at age 36

Former WWE wrestler Eddie Fatu, better known as "Umaga" the "Samoan Bulldozer", is reportedly dead at the young age of 36. Details are still unconfirmed but reports say that Fatu's wife found him in a chair in his Texas home with blood coming out of his nose. At that time he wasn't breathing and was unresponsive. Apparently, he had fallen asleep watching television on 12/3/09 and never woke up. It's believed he died due to a heart attack at this time. One report comes from pwnews.com, which discusses what little is known regarding the death. The internet has been buzzing as fans search for "Umaga dead" and "Eddie Fatu" with no official confirmation other than TNA/UFC star Bobby Lashley's Twitter posts so far (see below).

Reports say Fatu was placed on life support with friends and family being informed of his condition. He was taken off life support earlier Friday afternoon. Many WWE fans will remember Umaga as a multi-time Intercontinental champion who was on the Raw and Smackdown TV shows. He participated in a number of Pay-Per-View events and have famous feuds with Jeff Hardy, Triple H and John Cena. At Wrestlemania several years ago, Umaga was Vince McMahon's representative in a "Hair vs Hair match" against Donald Trump's representative, Bobby Lashley.

It was a Twitter post from current TNA star Lashley, Twitter name: @fightbobby that first alerted many fans and media to the potential passing of Umaga. Lashley's two most recent posts read:

Umaga was released by WWE back in June 2009 after he violated the WWE Wellness Policy, then refused to attend rehab services. His last known wrestling work was with Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair's pro-wrestling tour in Australia.

RIP to Eddie "Umaga" Fatu, age 36, and deepest condolences to all family, friends and fans.

UPDATE: WWE has released the following statement: "WWE would like to express its deepest condolences to Mr Fatu's family, friends and fans on his tragic passing.

"Mr Fatu was under contract with WWE at various time periods and most recently performed under the name Umaga. Mr Fatu's contract was terminated on June 11, 2009."

Happy Birthday Vince McMahon!

Today August 24th, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon is celebrating his 64th birthday. On tonight's episode of Monday Night Raw, Vince was given a grand in-ring celebration, D-Generation X style, including Vegas Showgirls, Cirque De Soleil performers, an Elvis impersonator and Big Dick Johnson jumping out of a cake to dance in a G-String. Vince McMahon was not entirely pleased by the joke, but later on he got his birthday wish when he got to score the winning pinfall over Randy Orton in a six man tag, No DQ match.

The Chairman has seen his share of good and bad times over the years with World Wrestling Entertainment, including run-ins with Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, Mick Foley and D-Generation X. He's been killed on Raw multiple times, had plenty of practical jokes played on him, flirted with divas, been Punk'd into thinking Hornswoggle was his bastard son, and fired countless WWE employees. Bobby Lashley's Pro Fight Debut

Former ECW champion, Bobby Lashley is set to make his debut with the Mixed Fighting Alliance this coming Saturday. He debuts in the "There Will Be Blood" card at Miami's American Airlines arena facing Joshua Franklin. Franklin is also making his pro fighting debut. One man may leave undefeated with the other winless. The question is does Bobby Lashley's WWE background prepare him enough for his new career choice?

Lashley spoke to South Florida Sun-Sentinel about his days in the WWE and how it may impact his pro fighting reputation. According to the article, Lashley came to the WWE because he needed money at the time and wasn't sure "if the opportunity would present itself again". Lashley was a accomplished wrestler for 18 years prior to WWE with hopes of competing in the Olympics. Lashley suffered a bad leg injury when he was an innocent bystander in a bank robbery and that caused his amateur career to come to a screeching halt.

An excerpt from the Sun-Sentinel article:

"It wasn't only about the money in the WWE, I enjoyed the crowds," Lashley said. "I was in WrestleMania representing Donald Trump [in 2007] in front of 85,000 people [at Ford Field in Detroit]. It was crazy.

"I know what people are saying. I think I lost some of my credibility as a fighter, wrestler and competitor being in the WWE. I know I have a lot to lose."

Lashley's now been training to compete in the pro fighting environment and he will follow in the footsteps of other former wrestlers such as Dan Severn, and the recently successful Brock Lesnar. Time will tell if Lashley can mimic the success of Brock by achieving gold in MMA.

Brock Lesnar - WWE-UFC Spotlight

Former WWE Superstar Brock Lesnar faces “The Natural” Randy Couture for the UFC Heavyweight Title this weekend at UFC 91 event in a Mixed Martial Arts battle. Lesnar was a multiple-time champion in the ranks of the WWE. He was also a well-decorated All American amateur wrestler prior to his days with the WWE. Many analysts say that Lesnar is continuing to keep WWE in the spotlight bigtime thanks to his MMA career, as he goes under the spotlight with big title matches. Lesnar disagrees and frankly doesn't care what his fights do for the WWE, as he left pro-wrestling with a bad taste in his mouth.

Recent comments from Lesnar regarding MMA & Wrestling (UK Daily Star):

“I’m here to represent the amateur wrestling. I’m an amateur wrestler at heart and I always will be.

“What the fight does for professional wrestling I really don’t care.

“Would there be other amateur or pro wrestlers that could make this transition?

“Absolutely not, because none of them have the background that I do.

“What only matters is next Saturday night and stepping in toe-to-toe and making things happen.”

He added: “In this day and age, you have to be well rounded in this fight game.

“I just can’t rely on my wrestling skills. Randy is a great, dirty boxer, and he’s great inside. I’m focused on a lot of different things and just trying to become well-rounded.”

UFC president Dana White has made comments that this UFC 91 event will be the most successful sports event of all time. White added that he believes WWE fans (including Vince McMahon) will all be buying the PPV to see if a former WWE star can take the title. Kevin Eck of Baltimore Sun's Ring Post blog states:

McMahon probably won’t buy it, but some of his wrestlers, such as The Undertaker and JBL, are big MMA fans and frequent spectators at the major events. Undertaker, along with guys such as CM Punk, Kurt Angle, Samoa Joe and others, have incorporated aspects of MMA into their style.

Eck also discusses how many wrestling web sites now cover MMA, and how Dave Metlzer of the Wrestling Observer newsletter has become an authority on MMA. There's been discussion of former WWE star Bobby Lashley making his debut in MMA next month, adding yet another former pro wrestler to the mix. Kurt Angle, currently with TNA, formerly with WWE, has hinted at his desire to compete in MMA as well. It's hard for either of these industries to overlook the other as the talent may move from spot to spot. Just as the TNA has capitalized on bringing in former WWE stars, UFC may be able to build its audience doing the same trick. However, it's tough to say if a few former WWE stars will ever be able to draw in the type of audience for a UFC event that a Wrestlemania PPV does.

After leaving WWE months after an injury, former superstar Bobby Lashley has now turned to his own business venture. Lashely is using his wrestling fame to sell Nutrition products at a store called "Lashley's Nutrition".

Lashley's site features everything that bodybuilders and gym rats might want. It includes protein powders, Glutamine, Creatine, Xenadrine along with many other popular supplements and products designed to aid people in their workouts or weight loss.

Goodbye Lashley, Hello Divas!

It was rumored that superstar Bobby Lashley was unhappy with WWE over the past few weeks. Lashley was reportedly upset over the firing and treatment of his diva girlfriend Kristal Marshall. WWE made it official on Monday that WWE superstar, Bobby Lashley has been released. A brief statement was given from WWE.com:

"WWE has come to terms on the release of Bobby Lashley as of today. We wish Bobby the best in all future endeavors."

The WWE Divas will be invading the runway this Wednesday night on BRAVO. Several divas will be a part of the reality TV contest show, Project Runway. WWE.com features a behind the scenes video detailing the divas involvement in the show. Each WWE Diva will be paired up with a designer who will help create their special in-ring wardrobe items. Michelle McCool, Kelly Kelly, Layla El, and Maria are amongst the divas featured this Wednesday night at 10PM. Check out WWE.com's video footage.

WWE News: John Cena & Lashley

WWE fans shouldn't expect to see John Cena wrestling at Wrestlemania 24 in March. Cena is set to star in the upcoming WWE action film 12 Rounds and will probably be in attendance for Wrestlemania events, but he won't be fighting in the ring. He recently talked to the Sun UK about his upcoming plans for movies and the WWE.

According to Sun UK:

Cena said: “I most likely will be at WrestleMania in some capacity, but you probably won't see me on camera.
“I'm actually moving to New Orleans in one week and spending some time with the police there, to learn how to be a better cop as that's what the film is about.
“The movie to take up the bulk of my time through to US Memorial Day, which is at the end of May.
“I know we're going to film on Saturdays, but I'd like to be at the Hall Of Fame as that's an event that I really love.”

There's also news that Bobby Lashley wants a release from the WWE. According to PWInsider.com:

"Lashley has definitely informed WWE that he wants to leave the company. There are a lot of reasons for him wanting to do so. The word we have gotten is that part of it has to do with how his girlfriend Kristal Marshall was treated by the company when she balked at being paired with Edge and doing the Lita gimmick, and was then quickly released. Let's just say that there is a line of thought that at least part of why she didn't want to do the angle was fear of a racial element being added to the storyline by the Smackdown creative staff.

I have also heard of other issues behind the scenes where Lashley reportedly feels like he hasn't been treated well himself while he has been out rehabbing. There is said to have been little communication between Lashley and Vince McMahon and no firm plans in place to get him back on TV now that his injury has healed and this was frustrating to him."

What's in Store for WWE 08'?

Some of my favorite moments of 2007 for WWE included Santino Marella's surprise Intercontinental title win, Mr. McMahon's surprise ECW title win, and the emergence of MVP as one of the top heels. You could also throw in Jeff Hardy's surprise victory over Triple H at Armageddon, which many didn't expect. So what might we expect from the WWE in 2008? Here's several thoughts and ideas.

- Expect to see several favorite superstars return back to the ring. Bobby Lashley, Gregory Helms, Candice Michelle, Matt Hardy and Ashley Massaro should be back in 08' and yes, John Cena should be back as well.

- It makes sense that Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder will capture the tag team titles at some point, now that they are aligned with Edge. However you have to wonder if they win it off Miz and Morrison or Jesse and Festus in 2008.

- It wouldn't be surprising to see the Hornswoggle story flipped and someone else revealed as the true McMahon illegitimate son. Mr. Kennedy is one possibility, and HHH is another.

- Many other wrestling analysts and sites have suggested a Hulk Hogan vs. Great Khali match, which doesn't seem out of the question for Wrestlemania 24.

- In a Batista interview, he noted that the winner of this year's Royal Rumble will be granted a title shot from their particular brand, not a choice of which title to compete for.

- Fans here at WWE Characters the Blog voted that Chris Jericho will be holding the WWE title at Wrestlemania 24. Triple H came in second. Many WWE analysts do not expect Randy Orton to be holding the title when the big event rolls around.

- Expect Flair's retirement to come some time in 2008 and possibly the Undertaker's (and Mark Henry's). Both may go out at Wrestlemania 24 which would really make it a special event, but it would be better to see them at WM25.

- Wouldn't it be nice to see more of Maryse in 2008? Her Smackdown promos are good but she could be better as a ringside valet, similar to Cherry who never wrestles.

- Unfortunately, expect to see more suspensions and possible firings, now that the WWE is not playing games with its Wellness Policy. But this will also make the WWE stronger and more respectable.

- MVP should continue to be the longest reigning of champs around, until Matt Hardy returns. Also of note, MVP's bio blurb on the Smackdown superstar page notes "At Judgment Day, MVP won a 2-out-of-3 Falls match in two straight falls to become the United States Champion". Notice the name of his opponent is missing.

Overall, things in WWE should improve in terms of controversy and stories, as more wrestlers return in 2008. Expect a great year!

In a special edition of ECW on Sci Fi, Joey Styles and Tazz took a look back at the matches, events and superstars that made it a great year for the ECW brand. These involved Bobby Lashley, the ECW originals, New Breed, Elijah Burke, John Morrison, CM Punk and more.

Lashley vs. Vince McMahon
One Night Stand 06/03/07

Tazz and Syles discussed how Bobby Lashley first defeated Umaga at Wrestlemania which led to Vince being shaved bald. Vince then vowed to make life hell for the ECW champion, and evetually defeated him in a 3 on 1 match to win the ECW title. For weeks Vince McMahon held the title and continued to make life miserable for Lashley. Finally at a Street Fight at One Night Stand, Lashley overcame the odds to defeat Vince, Shane and Umaga and regained his title. Then, on Raw's draft on 7/11/07, Lashley was drafted to the Raw brand and forced to vacate his ECW title.

Winner: Bobby Lashley regained the ECW title at One Night Stand, only to have to vacate it at the Raw draft 1 month later.

Promo shown for Kofi Kingston from Jamaica. Kofi saw a man stealing from a woman asleep on the beach. Kofi beat the man up and hung him upside down, then placed the stolen items in a Lost and Found box. Tazz and Styles discussed how Kofi will be the first ever Jamaican wrestler in WWE.

Tazz and Styles discussed how ECW was part of Wrestlemania 24, the first time ever that ECW was. It involved the ECW Originals vs. the New Breed tag team, a 4 on 4 contest. Sabu, Sandman, RVD and Tommy Dreamer defeated Kevin Thorn, Elijah Burke, Matt Striker and Marcus Cor Von. Several nights later, they all competed again on ECW in an extreme rules match.

New breed began to beat up Tommy Dreamer in the ring using chairs, trash cans, lids and other objects. Later in the match, Burke missed Sandman with a trash can, but connected on a right hand. Burke knocked Sandman to the mat but just then Dreamer knocked him over the head with a trash can. Dreamer hung Burke upside down in the corner then placed a chair in front of him. Dreamer ran over and dropkicked the chair. Everyone got involced with men throwing chairs at each other and slamming them into tables. RVD and Thorne started to fight it out. RVD knocked Thorn near a table then climbed the ropes. Ariel was ringside and tried to distract RVD.

Sabu and RVD teamed up to do a double leg drop on Thorn on a table. RVD was pulled out of the ring by Marcus Cor Von. Striker ran at Sabu with a stop sign, but Sabu ducked then tossed Striker out. Just then, Burke charged over and connected on a knee to knock Sabu into a table. Burke appeared to have hurt his knee but grabbed the pin on Sabu.

Winners: The New Breed's Elijah Burke wins via pinfall over ECW original Sabu.

A video highlight package was shown of Elijah Burke declaring his greatness in ECW.

The Shaman of Sexy, John Morrison was shown in a highlight package. Morrison was shown in his feuds with CM Punk, and his title reign.

Tazz and Joey Styles discussed the Tuesday Night Delight. Tazz noted that Morrison is mentioned in the new Best of WWE 2007 magazine. Vengeance 6/4/07 was shown where John Morrison defeated CM Punk for the ECW title using a spinning neckbreaker off the ropes. Tazz discussed now Punk was gunning for Morrison for 3 months after the Pay Per View.

9/4/07 ECW - CM Punk had his last chance to defeat Morrison for the ECW title. Punk and Morrison went back and forth beating one another up. Every time Punk thought he had Morrison down for a count, Morrison was able to kick out. Punk finally connected on the Go To Sleep and scored the pin to defeat John Morrison for the title. CM Punk becomes the new champ and is still reigning.

Morrison vs. The Miz vs. CM Punk
Triple Threat for ECW title

The 11/18/07 Survivor Series triple threat match involving the tag team champs Miz and Morrison facing off with Punk for the ECW title.

Punk dove out of the ring to crash into Miz and Morrison near the crowd barrier. Morrison got back into the ring and Punk climbed the corner. Miz came over and grabbed Punk's leg, then Morrison ran over to hit Punk. The Miz and John Morrison began teaming up to beat up the champ in the ring. Miz took an opportunity when he saw Morrison jump to the ropes by shoving him outside the ring. Miz continued to try to beat up Punk. Eventually Morrison got back to the apron and was able to flip over the ropes and then dropkick Miz out of the ring.

Morrison and Punk fought until Punk was pulled out of the ring by Miz. Miz and Morrison began to battle with Miz charging Morrison in the corner. After a knee to Morison's face, Miz tried to capture the pinfall. Morrison gained an advantage and knocked Miz down near the corner, then did a spinning corkscrew splash onto Miz. A near pinfall ensued, but Punk got into the ring to break it up.

The three men continued to battle it out in the ring. Punk had Morrison up for the GTS near the ropes, but Morrison grabbed the top rope. Punk tossed him onto the apron and they punched away at each other. Just then, Miz came charging at Punk who moved, causing Morrison to be knocked outside. Punk then grabbed Miz and hit him with the GTS for the pinfall victory.

Winner: CM Punk wins the triple threat match to retain his ECW title.

Video highlights shown of Big Daddy V, who Tazz called "monstrous". Styles said thanks to the Smackdown and ECW talent exchange, V has joined forces with Mark Henry. Styles said many superstars such as Batista, Kane and Khali have been on the ECW show in matches now. Styles noted that on 11/16/07 at Smackdown, Miz and Morrison won the WWE tag titles from MVP and Matt Hardy. Miz picked up a pin due to Matt Hardy having a hurt leg. ECW stars Miz and Morrison currently hold the WWE tag team belts, thanks to the talent exchange.

Styles and Tazz discussed the Tribute to the Troops which involved WWE superstars. A video package was shown with highlights from the event. Mr. Kennedy, Kelly Kelly, Triple H and many other superstars and divas were shown hanging out with the troops to bring support and holiday cheer .

Highlights shown of Kane dominating competition and saying that there is nothing that can stop him. Styles discussed how just 9 days ago at Armageddon, Kane and CM Punk joined forces to take on the monsters, Big Daddy V and Mark Henry. Punk went to the ropes to try to jump at V, but Striker got up to distract him. Punk knocked Striker off the apron then jumped at V. V caught Punk in the air on his shoulders and slammed him back for the pin.

MVP vs. CM Punk

The MVP vs. CM Punk match from last week's ECW was shown. Punk was in control and hit MVP with a knee to the face in the corner, followed by a bulldog. Punk flew off the ropes onto MVP and only got the 2 count for a pin. The 2 men continued to battle it out, and Punk connected on a knee to MVP's neck. Punk climbed to the corner, but MVP got up and pushed him. With Punk hanging upside down, MVP started to kick and punch away. Punk continued to attack despite the ref telling him to stop. The ref called for the bell when MVP wouldn't stop. MVP beat up Punk some more after the bell. After MVP left Punk laying in the ring, Chavo Guerrero came running out from backstage. Guerrero got into the ring where he continued to beat up the ECW champ, eventually Frog splashing him off the corner ropes.

Winner: CM Punk wins due to disqualification of MVP.

Styles and Tazz discussed how 2008 will be a great year for ECW from the looks of things. Tazz said he needs to try to be nicer to Styles after this past year, and said there was a gift under the tree. Styles bent over to check out the wrapped package and Tazz gave him a solid kick, causing Styles to crash into the Christmas tree. Tazz laughed and wished everyone a Merry Christmas. ECW closed out with highlights of various matches from the past year.

How Will WWE End 2007?

We're heading into the end of a rough year for the WWE. They've had a ton of controversy coupled with injuries, resignations and suspensions or firings. So this is the last month for them to finish strongly. It's been tough but the returns of guys like HBK, HHH, Taker, Rey Edge and have been helping. Here's some more thoughts on recent events and stories as we head to 2007's close for WWE.

Not sure how anyone else finds the current Hornswoggle "cartoon" style segments. At times it was funny, but then it became a bit too much. The concept of he and Finlay working together is a good idea, but the concepts of Looney Tunes style humor can become a problem. On this past week's Raw, he did a Roadrunner style routine where he painted his own door to escape from Carlito in the locker room. At first the leprechaun jokes and various pranks were funny. It would seem best if WWE changes that storyline up, especially if Hornswoggle is not the real son of Vince McMahon. I think it may appeal to a younger audience, but WWE must keep in mind the big picture.

There's been word that Lashley will return next month to in-ring action. If he returns to Raw, you'd have to wonder who he will feud with. A feud with Snitsky seems like a great idea, due to the size and intensity/power of both guys. There's not much else left after that for Lashley, unless he is thrust into the already complex title picture. It also seems as if lately Jeff Hardy is the sole owner of the IC belt and nobody is going to challenge for it. So that may be the direction Lashley goes.

ECW is always interesting to me, because it has the smallest roster and some argue the weakest. They also have a lot of room to improve and be creative. They now have the WWE Tag team champs with Miz and Morrison. They recently added Shelton Benjamin to the roster from Raw. Also they have Smackdown superstars wrestling on the show regularly. So now fans of various Smackdown stars may tune into ECW more regularly. It's all in a big attempt to strengthen the brand and it just might work.

John Cena's injury is surely the biggest setback as the year comes closer to an end. So as we head into the final month of 2007, the WWE can continue to climb back from controversy and finish strongly as it continues the recovery process.

Returns: Edge, Y2J, Cena & Lashley

Here's some updates and speculations regarding the returns for John Cena, Bobby Lashley, Edge and Chris Jericho to the WWE.

Former World Heavyweight Champion, Edge, has been out of WWE action for several months now. Edge is pictured on the Survivor Series posters and is on the recent television ads, shown using a chainsaw. This would seem to indicate Edge is coming back at Survivor Series, and may get involved in a match, perhaps the Michaels vs. Orton match. Orton has the stipulation he can't get intentionally DQ'd. Edge may also decide to interfere in the traditional Survivor Series match which Kane is a participant in, since Kane is considered "responsible" for Edge's injury. This is all speculation at the moment.

Chris Jericho's return to WWE continues to be an enigma and there really hasn't been a date put on it by any wrestling sources. A fan commented that the recent commercials may indicate Jericho will return to the Monday Raw on November 19th, one night after Survivor Series. This could make sense, as Shawn Michaels also made a return to Raw and did so the night following a Pay Per View. Read more about one interpretation of the Y2J ads.

Bobby Lashley has been out for a while now, since hurting his shoulder at the Backlash Pay Per View. He underwent surgery in June of 2006 to repair the shoulder and is now healing up. There hasn't been any recent indication of his return status. On an IGN.com interview in late October, they spoke to Lashley and Torrie Wilson regarding the Smackdown vs. Raw video game. During the interview Lashley said with regards to injury he goes home to his mailbox, gets his check, then rubs it on the injury and "magically all the pain goes away". Watch the IGN interview here.

As for John Cena, he's on the shelf for a bit recovering from a torn pectoral muscle suffered against Mr. Kennedy on Raw. In his recent interview with CNN (the unedited version), Cena says he will most likely take 9-12 months for a full recovery. Cena says for now his workout consists of gripping a golf club just to keep his arm in motion. Cena also said he's not allowed to sweat as the surgery wound is still fresh and needs to heal. WWE Return Rumors

With recent suspensions, injuries and other problems still affecting WWE, they may be in need of adding some more star power. According to PWTorch, Shawn Michaels and Chris Jericho just might be two answers the WWE needs right now.

"With the recent suspensions and injuries of several top WWE wrestlers, the company is in need of more star power. Two names that WWE is hoping to bring back this fall are Shawn Michaels and Chris Jericho. However, neither man has officially agreed to a return date.

Shawn Michaels underwent knee surgery on May 23rd and was originally expected to return by the end of summer. Those plans are currently on hold - as Shawn Michaels has informed WWE that he is in no rush to return. He is considering taking an extended break from the road and then returning at a later time with a lighter schedule. WWE is in a completely different place than it was when Michaels was injured - with the Benoit family tragedy and the Congressional investigation.

WWE continues to have interest in a Chris Jericho return. It is unclear how close the two parties are to striking a deal, but there is ongoing contact."

Undertaker is set to return soon as he is part of a match at Unforgiven on 9/16 versus Mark Henry. Bobby Lashley has also been said to have been cleared for a return. In addition, there are reports that Brock Lesnar, former 3-time WWE champ, is in talks with 3 pro-wrestling organizations including WWE. Other rumors mention former WWE stars Sid Vicious and Big Show, but no confirmations have been made of any signings as of this entry.

It has been mentioned Mark Henry may retire after his Unforgiven match, or soon after. Ric Flair is also rumored to be retiring as a wrestler in the near future.

Raw Recap 08.13.07

A recap of Raw from New York City:

Raw opened with a replay of highlights including Vince's limo explosion and then his return last week, where Vince said he staged the explosion to see if everyone really cared. The highlights also showed Vince discussing the Congressional committees investigating him, the IRS auditing him, Vince discussing his family and then the bombshell at the end where Coach told Vince he was served with a paternity suit over an illegitimate child.

Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler discussed tonight's lineup including the Royal Coronation of King Booker and the Cena/Umaga vs Carlito/Orton main event. Superstars from Raw, ECW and Smackdown brands were all shown surrounding the ring as well. Just then, Mr. McMahon's music came on as he came strutting down to the ring.

McMahon said he was shocked last week at the news he has an illegitimate child. Vince said he doesn't even remember who the woman is who this happened with. Vince said this is "sheer extortion" and he can't be intimidated. The crowd began chanting "Who's Your Daddy?". Vince said he was comforted by all the wrestlers/divas around the ring supporting him. Vince asked for the audience's support saying this could happen to any red blooded male. As Vince was ranting on, all of a sudden Stephanie McMahon's music came on, as she came walking down the ramp.

Stephanie asked Vince if he knows what he put her, Shane and Linda McMahon through with the explosion. Stephanie told Vince he was sick for faking his death and then got slapped by a paternity suit. Stephanie said earlier today she came from the plaintiff's attorney's office and found out that Vince's child is one of the superstars standing around the ring. Vince was shocked as he looked around at all the superstars. Stephanie left the ring as Vince dropped the mic to the mat. Vince walked around the ring eyeing the various superstars before he left the ring. Vince stood near Mr Kennedy staring at him, then stared in Mark Henry's face before Vince walked up the ramp.

Mr. Kennedy came walking down to the ring and grabbed the mic as it dropped down from above. Kennedy was about to yell his name saying he was the one who took out Lashley, when Sandman's music came on. Sandman came walking down to the ring through the crowd carrying his Singapore cane.

Sandman vs. Mr. Kennedy

Kennedy backed Sandman into a corner and taunted him by rubbing his head. Sandman shoved Kennedy away and the two started to grapple in the ring. The two got into a shoving match until Sandman started to hammer away and kick at Kennedy. Sandman used a Russian leg sweep to take down Kennedy, then climbed the ropes. Kennedy ran over and punched him then slammed him off the ropes. Kennedy able to leave Sandman seated in the corner then ran at him and kicked him in the face. Kennedy picked up Sandman in the center of the ring then used his finisher to slam down Sandman for a pinfall victory. After winning, Kennedy took the mic from above and yelled his name twice before he left the ring.

Winner: Mr. Kennedy wins via pinfall over Sandman.

Vince shown backstage ranting to Coach about the news he just got about who his child is. Coach said they could review the list of Raw superstars and figure out who it was based on age. Coach asked Vince when he first became sexually active and Vince said "I was almost a teenager". Coach said the child could be anyone on the roster. Just then a "WOOO!" was heard as Flair showed up behind McMahon. Flair WOO'd 2 more times before the camera cut out.

Highlight reel shown of "The Legend Killer" Randy Orton taking out Shawn Michaels and then Jim Ross mentioned the main event again involving Cena, Umaga vs Carlito/Orton.

WWE Rewind showed a replay of last week's battle royal to determine who would be the new GM of Raw. It came down to Sandman, until Regal snuck back into the ring from outside and eliminated him. Regal became the new GM of Raw.

Lawler said based on the success of last week's Dating Game, tonight there would be "WWE Idol". Regal was shown backstage dressed like Simon Cowell and next to him were JBL and Michael Cole dressed up as Hall and Oates. JBL and Cole began singing awfully and Regal told them they wont be singing for the Idol show. Just then Maria and Ron Simmons walked up to Regal. Regal told Maria she would be a guest judge for the Idol show and that next week her and Simmons would get their big date. Santino Marella came walking up saying there would be no date. He told Regal tonight he would sing a song better than anyone else. Regal said he didnt need more contestants and walked off as Maria then told Santino not to be like that and followed him as he left. Simmons eyed Cole and JBL as they started singing and then yelled "WHAM!" in honor of the 80's group.

Cryme Tyme came out to the ring and began to get the crowd riled up. Cryme Tyme then left the ring and took Lillian's chair and signed it. They started to auction off the chair, then pointed out rapper Bow Wow and singer Omarion in the front row. They ended up selling the chair for $1000 to a man in the front row, as Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch came out for their match. Raw headed to break as JR said the two tag teams would fight next.

Cryme Tyme vs. Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch

Back from break Murdoch & Cade had Big Chad in the corner of the ring and were doubleteaming him. The tag champs kept Chad isolated and away from the tag to his partner. Chad finally able to escape by running himself with Murdoch into the ring corner. Chad tagged in JTG who went wild running around the ring and knocking down Murdoch/Cade. The ref became distracted momentarily as Big Chad tried to enter the ring. Cade & Murdoch doubleteamed and clotheslined JTG down hard with the ref's back turned. Chad went outside the ring and grabbed the chair from the man they had just sold it to in the crowd. Chad re-entered the ring as his partner was being pinned and smashed the chair down on Murdoch's back. The ref rang the bell for the DQ.

Winners: Cade & Murdoch win due to disqualification on Cryme Tyme

Promo ad shown for the "King of Kings" Triple H with various highlights shown and then an announcement that HHH would be back at Summerslam. Immediately after, Jim Ross discussed the Royal Coronation would take place later tonight. Lawler said he was not looking forward to it.

Robbie vs. Snitsky

Snitsky immediately kicked Robbie then clotheslined him down.Snitsky then grabbed Robbie up on 1 shoulder and powerslammed him down for a very quick victory. After the win Snitsky started to beat up Robbie more. Rorie got into the ring to try to intervene, but Snitsky kicked him down hard. Snitsky left the ring with the tag team decimated.

Winner: Snitsky wins via pinfall over Robbie.

Vince and Coach walking in the back halls of the arena. Vince was discussing his various conquests from back in the day. Coach said they could go over a list of all Vince's indiscretions and then figure out for Saturday Night's Main Event who Vince's child is. Just then Cody Rhodes was shown standing nearby. Cody said he knows he's not Vince's son but that he brought a gift for him. Cody put an object in Vince's hand before walking off. Vince opened his hand seeing a condom. Just then, Boogeyman's music came on and he appeared from some crates behind Vince and Coach. Boogeyman started to sing freakishly and then said "I'm the Boogeyman and I'm comin to getcha!" Coach told Vince that Boogeyman appears to have Vince's eyes. Boogeyman laughing maniacally as Vince and Coach left.

WWE Idol

Todd Grisham on the top of the ramp announced WWE Idol. Grisham introduced the celebrity judges, William Regal, WWE Diva Maria who were seated at a WWE idol table in the ring. Todd Grisham then introduced the last judge, Mick Foley who came out from backstage and walked down the ramp to the ring to join the judges.

Grisham introduced the first contestant, Jillian Hall. Jillian appeared at the top of the ramp in a tight pink dress. Jillian began to sing the Broadway show tune "Memories" in her usual tone deaf voice. Mick Foley told Jillian afterwards he was glad he had his ear ripped off. Regal told Jillian to get off the stage immediately after that performance.

Next contestant introduced was Nikolai Volkoff who was with the Iron Sheik and the Fink. The Fink was along with them and asked everyone to rise for Volkoff's Soviet National anthem. Volkoff began sang the anthem as Sheik stood saluting. Foley told Volkoff it was a good performance and he didnt let it affect him when the crowd chanted "USA". Regal told Volkoff he is surprised he didnt lose his voice like the Sheik lost the WWE title here at NY a long time ago. Sheik yelled at Regal how he was part of McMahon's "kiss my ass" club. Regal yelled for security to remove Volkoff and Sheik.

Final contestant came out, Lillian Garcia. Lillian began singing "New York New York" until Santino Marella came to the top of the ramp to interrupt. Marella insulted Lillian saying she was dressed like a prostitute. Lillian stormed off backstage. Santino said he had a song for Maria and began to sing "That's Amore" until Mick Foley interrupted. Foley told Marella watching him sing was almost as bad as watching him wrestle.

Marella told Maria it was time to leave, but Maria said she was still judging. As Marella continued to whine, Ron Simmons then showed up on the top of the ramp with him. Marella asked if Simmons was going to start rhyming and talking like Cookie Monster. As Marella began to laugh at his own jokes, Simmons grabbed Marella and smashed him into the side of ramp entrance. Marella layed out on his back as Simmons picked up a mic saying "DAMN!". Regal said that was music to his ears and announced Simmons as winner of the contest.

Winner: Ron Simmons wins WWE Idol.

Highlights shown of Randy Orton taking out the legendary Dusty Rhodes.

Charlie Haas vs. Cody Rhodes

Early on Haas dropped Rhodes down then tried to run off the ropes. Rhodes with an armbar takedown, then an attempted rollup pin on Haas. Haas regained control, dropping Rhodes near the ropes then kicking him while down on the mat. Haas continued to beat up Rhodes and then put him into a headlock. Haas with a second headlock after a failed pin. Haas then stood up Rhodes and smashed him face first into the turnbuckle. Rhodes tried to gain momentum until Haas knocked him down again and slapped another headlock on.

Rhodes finally able to escape Haas and then lifted him up to drop him on the top rope. Rhodes got up and began to punch away at Haas. Rhodes ducked a clothesline then came off the ropes for a bulldog. Rhodes appeared to injur himself doing the move, but still climbed the ropes. Rhodes jumped off the turnbuckle and splashed onto Haas. After a failed pin the two thought even more until Rhodes was able to roll up Haas and get a surprise pinfall victory. Benjamin ran in the ring to try to attack Rhodes, but Rhodes was able to slide out under the bottom rope.

Winner: Cody Rhodes wins via pinfall over Charlie Haas.

Jim Ross and Lawler discussed the Coronation of King Booker up next as Lawler's music began playing. Lawler said it was time to go get ready and exited his announcer's seat as Raw hit commercial break.

Coronation Ceremony for King Booker

Queen Sharmelle with the mic welcomed everyone to the Coronation Ceremony. Booker took the mic and thanked all his loyal subjects, then demanded that Jerry Lawler place the crown on his head. King hesitated at first, then Booker yelled at him. Lawler picked up a mic and told Booker it's not quite true that he's the only king. Lawler said before he came out to the ring that GM William Regal gave him a note saying Booker would have a match at Summerslam against "this man" as a video came up on the Titantron. A "King of Kings" video played up on of Triple H.

After the video ended, Lawler threw the crown down and began to stomp on it. Just then Booker went at him, but Lawler ducked. Lawler started to beat up Booker until Sharmelle jumped on his back. Booker able to start beating up Lawler in the ring. Booker then knocked Lawler out of the ring and grabbed a small TV off the announce table. Booker smashed the TV across Lawler's forehead knocking him out. Booker then began yelling at Jim Ross asking if he wants some too.

Raw returned from break with Jim Ross discussing a replay of King Booker beating up Jerry Lawler. Todd Grisham had joined Jim Ross at the announce table because Lawler was being attended to backstage. Ross and Grisham then covered the matches set for Summerslam so far.

Orton came to the ring and talked to the crowd. Orton said John Cena is the longest reigning WWE champ in almost 2 decades. Orton said in less than 2 weeks the storybook tale of John Cena will be over. Orton told the people who dislike Cena that he would be their hero whether they like it or not. Orton told the people who favor John Cena that he will be their worst nightmare. Orton said nothing will stop him at Summerslam from becoming the new champ. Raw headed to break as Grisham and JR said the main event was up next.

John Cena & Umaga vs. Carlito & Randy Orton

Orton waited in the ring as his partner Carlito was introduced. Umaga came out next with his IC title and stared down Orton/Carlito in the ring. Cena came out next and hoisted up his WWE title at the top of the ramp for all to see. Umaga started off against Orton, dropping him down to the mat and clotheslining him off the ropes. Orton and Carlito tried to doubleteam Umaga, but Umaga clotheslined the two down. Cena came into the ring and then they tossed Carlito and Orton out. Umaga and Cena turned and stared at each other as Raw headed to a break.

Raw returned with Cena smashing Carlito into the corner. Cena continued smashing Carlito into the ring corners, then flew at him off the ropes with shoulders. Cena slammed Carlito down center of the ring then stared at Orton. Cena signaled for the 5 Knuckle Shuffle then came off the ropes to punch Carlito in the face. Cena went to do the FU but was close to Orton who saved Carlito by grabbing his legs. Cena turned to go at Orton, but Orton jumped off the apron, allowing Carlito to hit Cena from behind. Carlito knocked Cena to the outside and Orton then hit him out there. Carlito got Cena back into the ring and then tagged in Orton to beat him up.

Orton kept Cena down by kicking him and stomping on his head, then tagged Carlito back in. Carlito with a swinging neckbreaker on Cena and then a failed pin. Carlito tried to keep Cena down with a headlock, but Cena stood up then slammed Carlito back. Cena struggled to get to the ropes and started to make his way to tag Umaga. Carlito tagged in Orton who then came off the ropes to clothesline Cena down. Orton began stomping on Cena's foot. Cena finally escaped by hitting Orton in the knee/leg. Orton tagged Carlito back in who took over on Cena. Carlito began hammering away at Cena then he and Orton doubleteamed Cena in the corner.

Orton kept Cena down on the mat in a headlock until Cena was able to stand up and get out of the hold. Orton punched Cena in the face then threw him to the corner. Cena avoided Orton who ran at him, then Cena ran off the ropes to bulldog Orton down. Orton able to tag Carlito again to take over. Cena able to finally flip Carlito over his back. Cena jumped over and looked like he missed the tag on Umaga. Orton came over and punched Umaga, so Umaga got into the ring. Grisham said the ref was allowing Umaga in so the tag must have been made. Umaga able to shove Orton to the corner, then ran at him and smashed his hip into Orton's head. Carlito tried to jump on Umaga's back for the finisher but just slid off as Umaga turned and looked down at him. Cena then picked up Carlito and was able to "F-U" him down for a pinfall victory. Cena celebrated after the win with Umaga standing in the ring.

Winners: Umaga and John Cena win via pinfall over Randy Orton and Carlito.

Backstage Vince told Coach "thank God this night is over" because it's time to go home. Coach asked if Vince told him about every encounter he's had in his life. Vince said yes and then started to tell Coach about a romp he had with 2 flight attendants back in the day. Just then, Coach told Vince to turn around, as Linda McMahon was shown standing behind him looking angry. Linda told Vince "don't even go there because as of right now you no longer have me".

Overwhelmingly, people would like to see Triple H battle John Cena at the Pay Per View, with Jeffy Hardy coming in at second place. Both would make for exciting matchups, however with Jeff Hardy out until September, the latter wouldn't be as likely. We may see another Triple H vs John Cena match sometime in the future though. John Cena vs Jeff Hardy is something we haven't really seen and could also provide for a great future contest!

Sun UK on the Bash

The Sun UK website has a review of the Great American Bash and discusses how John Cena and Umaga have shown good wrestling skills in the ring (in terms of crowd involvement and making opponents look good). The article says for the most part the Pay Per View was good but overshadowed by the recent Benoit tragedy.

They go on to say how Umaga is playing well as an effective heel and gave a good match versus Jeff Hardy. It also says Cena is one of the few wrestlers who has actually made The Great Khali look good in the ring in recent matches. They say that Cena vs Lashley was a classic good guy vs good guy match between two current bigtime stars in WWE. Sun UK says we need more of these at PPV's, where the crowd doesn't quite know what to expect.

WWE Business Issues

The Montgomery Advertiser has a recent article which basically recaps the injuries and problems that have struck the WWE since Triple H became injured in January, then Undertaker, Michaels, Edge and Lashley went down. It includes the info about Jeff Hardy being reported as injured, then suspended and how he will most likely not be a part of Summerslam. It also discusses the impact the Vince limo explosion and then the Benoit tragedy had which is probably why ratings are down lately. While the article doesn't have anything much that most WWE fans didn't know about, its a good timeline of the problems that have struck the WWE this year.

The Motley Fool, a site about business news, stocks and other investments has a new article up about WWE as an investment. The article talks about whether WWE can ever heal from its recent problems and profit freefall. They discuss the impact of three "failed movie attempts" in "The Marine", "See No Evil" and "The Condemned" as well as the Benoit tragedy and its impact on the business. The article goes on to say it believes WWE makes for a good long term investment as a stock, once it steers through the recent troubles. They believe WWE can survive the steroid accusations and problems resulting from the Benoit tragedy in the short term. As for the film production division of WWE, it says "If Vince McMahon wants to be in a business dominated by studios like Viacom (NYSE: VIA) and Sony (NYSE: SNE), he'll have to step up his game."

Finally Chicago Sun-Times had this short article about WWE, its injuries and ratings problems:

"IT STARTED WITH Triple H tearing his quadriceps in January. Then The Undertaker tore his biceps in May. On top of those losses, there have been injuries to Shawn Michaels and Edge, the inexplicable situation with Chris Benoit and stars such as Rey Mysterio and Mark Henry continuing to sit out. Believe it or not, things got worse for WWE last week, as Bobby Lashley suffered a serious shoulder injury and required surgery; he could be out up to six months. As the saying goes, the show must go on. On Monday, company chairman Vince McMahon will make his return to ''Raw.'' Look for him to open the show in a bid to change the course of WWE immediately.

AROUND THE RING: ''Raw'' isn't the only show having ratings trouble, as ECW continues to drop close to the sub-1.0 level. In fact, TNA's ''iMPACT'' is very close to taking over as the third-most-watched wrestling show on TV."

Note: The Chicago Sun-Time article mis-states that Mark Henry has been sitting out. Henry has been wrestling on Smackdown for several weeks now and is beating virtually unknown opponents in under just a few minutes.

Lashley to Undergo Surgery

The injury bug has bitten yet another WWE Superstar. WWE.com has reported that Lashley will undergo surgery next Tuesday for his shoulder injury.

From WWE.com:

"Former ECW Champion Bobby Lashley will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his damaged left shoulder Tuesday in Birmingham, Ala., WWE.com has learned.

WWE physician Dr. Ferdinand Rios told WWE.com that the Dominator was evaluated by Dr. Jeffery Dugas, an associate of noted orthopaedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews’, today at the Alabama Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center in Birmingham.

It was determined that the extensive damage suffered in Lashley’s match with Mr. Kennedy on Raw was severe enough to warrant the procedure.

“They are going to do an arthroscopic evaluation of the left shoulder, that requires a small incision for the insertion of the scope,” Rios explained. “If it’s just cartilage or something that can be repaired easily, they will do so. If it is a complete rotator cuff [tear], then they’ll probably have to open [Lashley’s] shoulder up and repair it.

The rehab time for arthroscopic surgery is usually 6 to 8 weeks, according to Rios. But the former Army sergeant could be out of action for six months if there’s more severe damage, requiring extensive reconstruction of the shoulder."

Lashley Injury Update

WWE.com is reporting that Lashley suffered what may be a serious injury on this past Monday's Raw:

Former ECW Champion Bobby Lashley will meet with noted orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Ala., Wednesday for further diagnosis on his injured left shoulder, WWE.com has learned.

Lashley injured the shoulder in his match with Mr. Kennedy on Monday Night Raw, when Kennedy kicked it while up against the ring steps. Once Kennedy realized his opponent was injured, Kennedy viciously targeted the shoulder with repeated attacks and holds. Read more on this story...

The shoulder suffered further damage as Lashley attempted to spear Kennedy, and Kennedy countered the charging Lashley by kneeing him in the injured joint.

Preliminary observations from WWE physician Dr. Ferdinand Rios suggest Lashley suffered a possible rotator cuff tear in the left shoulder.

More details on the injury will be made available on WWE.com as soon as they are known.

Lashley in Maxim

Bobby Lashley is featured in Maxim Magazine's August issue in the Fitness section. In the magazine, Lashley offers workout tips and more fitness advice. WWE.com has an article discussing the superstar doing Maxim and how Maxim felt Lashley was a perfect fit for the column:

"Maxim Associate Editor Jeff Foss said picking Lashley for the Expert Fitness column was obviously a great choice.

“I know a lot of Maxim readers are really into WWE. Lashley is a recognizable face and an up-and-coming wrestler. It’s a perfect match,” Foss said. “I’m just really impressed with WWE and Lashley. The shoot went so smoothly. He was great. He was the model athlete.”

There was no doubt in Lashley’s mind that he was the right person to share his knowledge in Maxim.

“I was excited Maxim wanted me to be in Expert Fitness. We look to Maxim as a source of entertainment for the hours we spend on the plane,” Lashley said. “And if you look at WWE, I don’t think anyone fits that better than me.”

Raw Recap 07.23.07

Recap of Monday Night Raw from Sacramento, CA:

Coach appeared on screen stating Great American Bash was a huge success last night thanks to Coach's genius work as the GM of Raw. Coach said they are now 5 weeks away from Summerslam so a new #1 contender needs to be made. Coach said he will watch each match and determine who the #1 contender will be for Cena by the end of tonight. Coach then announced tonight's main event, a Champions Only match where John Cena and Candice Michelle will team up to face Umaga, Cade & Murdoch.

King and JR said in addition to the Champions Only match tonight, Cody Rhodes would face Randy Orton. A regal set up was then shown in the ring, complete with plates of food and a King's chair. King Booker and Queen Sharmelle then made their way to the ring. A replay was shown of last week where Jerry Lawler fought back against Booker after he asked him to kiss his ring.

King Booker then sat down in the chair in the ring and addressed Jerry Lawler as "Jerome". Booker invited Lawler into the ring so the two of them could discuss their differences as gentlemen. Lawler left his position at the announce table and sat down at the other end of the table in ring with Booker. Booker then discussed why he is the only King in WWE today, saying he rightfully earned his title by winning last year's "King of the Ring" tournament.

Booker said Jerry Lawler shouldn't be considered a King and also mentioned Triple H, "King of Kings", saying he should not be called a king either. As Lawler went to respond on the mic, Booker stood up and Sharmelle yelled "all hail King Booker". Lawler responded by saying the people determine a king, and the people in the crowd seem to see Booker as a pompous, idiotic and self-delusional royal pain. Booker became enraged by King's comments and walked towards him. Booker asked King to look him in the eyes and make his point. Lawler responded by knocking Booker down and out of the ring, then tossing a plate full of food out at him. An angry Booker backed up the ramp with Queen Sharmelle.

Mickie James & Maria vs. Beth Phoenix & Melina

Maria came down to the ring accompanied by Santino Marella who took a seat at the announcer table with Ross and Lawler. Beth Phoenix and Mickie started things off with Mickie getting the upperhand briefly. Phoenix rammed Mickie into the corner with Melina and tagged out. Melina and Mickie traded shots, until Mickie knocked her down and tagged in Maria. Maria tried to get a move on Melina near the ropes, but Phoenix kicked Maria in the head. Santino urged Maria on as he watched Beth Phoenix put her up in a doublearm chicken wing and toss her to the mat.

Melina and Beth continued to punish Maria in the ring, keeping her down and away from Mickie. Maria finally escaped to tag in Mickie who ran around the ring knocking down Phoenix and Melina. Mickie went against the ropes where Beth Phoenix interfered. Mickie recovered and tossed Melina to the corner then flipped her up into the ring. Maria jumped onto Melina off the ropes for a near fall. The ref's attention got turned away as Mickie got knocked out of the ring. Santino got up, then went and tripped Melina and Beth Phoenix as they went off the ropes at Maria. Maria used a bulldog move on Melina, driving her face first into the mat for a pinfall victory.

Winner: Maria and Mickie James win via pinfall over Melina and Beth Phoenix.

Highlights shown from last night's title match between John Cena and Bobby Lashley. Cena used the F-U on Lashley off the corner ropes to score the victory.

Replay shown from last night's Bullrope match where Orton was about to hurt Dusty Rhodes further until Cody Rhodes ran down to save his father.

Cody Rhodes backstage getting tips for his upcoming match with Orton, just as Orton came up behind him. Cody told Orton he's afraid to beat up his father. Orton told Cody he should be the one who's afraid, because tonight he's going to do some things to him with serious consequences in the ring.

Snitsky seen backstage with dark music playing behind him. He asked if it makes him a bad person if when he hurts people he feels no remorse? Snitsky said others' pain is his pleasure.

Todd Grisham interviewed Cena backstage. Grisham congratulated Cena on his victory last night at the Bash and asked Cena his thoughts on tonight's Champions Only match. Cena told Grisham to close his eyes and envision Candice walking up to him to be his partner for a wrestling match. Cena said then imagine you have the cast of Brokeback Mountain and Umaga facing you in the ring. Grisham was disturbed by the image. Grisham asked about Cena's thoughts for his next contender for his title. Cena said Coach can name whoever he wants the #1 contender to be for Summerslam. Cena said for whoever it is "if you want some, come get some!"

Hacksaw Jim Duggan & Sandman vs. William Regal & Carlito

Sandman came walking down to the ring through the crowd carrying his Singapore cane. Regal started off the match beating up Sandman a bit, til Sandman turned things around and knocked Carlito off the apron. Sandman grappled with Regal who was able to pull Sandman back and tag in Carlito. Coach shown backstage in an office scouting the competitors in the match. Carlito started kicking Sandman around a bit before another tag. Sandman was able to finally get over to tag in Hacksaw who tossed Carlito around the ring a bit. Regal and Sandman got into it outside the ring. Meanwhile, Hacksaw went for the football stance and charged at Carlito in the ring. Carlito reversed things and dropped Hacksaw back first onto his knees. Carlito scored the pinfall victory for his team.

Winners: Carlito and William Regal win via pinfall over Sandman and Hacksaw Jim Duggan.

Carlito and William Regal shown talking backstage. Carlito said if Coach wants a #1 contender, Carlito is the one. Carlito said things are finally going his way, then took a bite from an apple. Carlito made a funny face then spit out the apple. The camera turned to show Carlito had just spit in the face of Lashley. Carlito then ran from Lashley all the way out to the ring. Carlito grabbed the mic and said accidents happen so he shouldn't have to apologize. Carlito told Lashley he was sorry and if he accepts he doesn't have to say anything. Carlito smiled thinking everything was ok, but just then Lashley's music came on and Lashley came down to the ring.

Carlito tried to head off Lashley at the ring apron, knocking him off. Carlito jumped down to attack Lashley outside the ring and tried to throw him into the steel steps. Lashley jumped over the steel steps then caught Carlito as he tried to run away up the ramp. Lashley brought Carlito down to the ring on his shoulders and slammed him face first into the apron. Lashley beat Carlito up more in the ring then exited up the ramp as his music played on.

Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton

Highlights shown of Orton beating Rhodes in last night's Bullrope match, then Orton getting ready to deliver a hard kick to Rhode's head. Just then Cody Rhodes ran down to save his father from Orton.

Orton slapped Cody early on, but Cody returned the gesture with a dropkick to Orton. An enraged Orton began to hammer away at Cody in the ring with fury. Cody tried to do several moves off the ropes and corner of the ring, but Orton continued to beat up the young newcomer. Orton dropped Cody down to the mat while holding him around his neck. Orton then started kicking and stomping Cody down on the mat. Cody finally got up and started to fight back, until Orton dropkicked him off the ropes. Orton continued stomping on Cody, then whipped him hard to the corner. Cody continued to show resilience, as he kept getting back up to fight. Orton knocked Cody down again with a hard clothesline. Cody gained momentum again knocking Orton down. Cody tried to jump off the ropes at Orton but Orton dodged him. Orton waited for Cody to stand up then RKO'd him down quick to get the pinfall victory.

After the match ended, Orton prepared to finish off Cody. Just then, Dusty Rhodes ran down to the ring and punched away at Orton, driving him out of the ring. Dusty tended to his fallen son briefly near the ropes. Orton snuck back into the ring and ran at Dusty, kicking him hard in the head. With Dusty knocked out, Orton prepared to do the same thing to Cody. About 5 referees came into the ring and prevented Orton from the attack. Cody and WWE med staff attended to Dusty Rhodes, who was then taken out on a stretcher.

Winner:Randy Orton wins via pinfall over Cody Rhodes.

Back from break, Ross and Lawler showed footage from the previous match, and showed Dusty Rhodes being taken away on a stretcher as his son looked on.

Jeff Hardy vs. Mr. Kennedy

Kennedy grabbed the mic from overhead before his match and told the crowd as well as Coach to look no further than here for the #1 contender, Mr. Kennedy. Jeff Hardy came down to the ring looking a bit beat up from his match versus Umaga last night.

Kennedy and Hardy grappled early with Hardy forcing Kennedy to the corner. Kennedy then slapped Jeff in the face to taunt him. Kennedy briefly gained the upperhand punching away at Hardy and attempting a pinfall. Hardy then took control of the match after Kennedy missed a spinning kick move. Hardy had Kennedy's arm held behind his back, but Kennedy was able to twist his body down and toss Hardy out of the ring. Kennedy then tried to slide at Hardy when he stood up, but Jeff got back in the ring then dropkicked Kennedy down outside the ring. Jeff followed up by jumping over the ropes onto Kennedy as RAW took a commercial break.

Back from break, Kennedy smashed Jeff Hardy down in the ring onto his back, then tried a pin. Jeff kicked out at 2. Kennedy continued to dominate and Jim Ross remarked that Coach has to be impressed with Kennedy in this match. Kennedy with a neckbreaker on Jeff and another failed pin attempt. Jeff Hardy fell off the corner ropes after trying to attempt whisper in the wind. Hardy fell to the mat and Kennedy tried for a pin, but Hardy kicked out. Hardy then able to land the Whisper in the Wind on Kennedy, gaining momentum.

Hardy dropkicked a fallen Kennedy in the corner of the ring then tried for a pin, but Kennedy grabbed the bottom rope. Jeff managed to slam Kennedy face first into the mat, then clibmed the ropes for the Swanton Bomb. Kennedy rolled out of the ring. Hardy saw him and got out of the ring, then ran the side crowd barrier and jumped off at Kennedy, clothslining him. The two wrestlers fought outside the ring as Jeff Hardy tossed Kennedy into the side ramp area. Jeff then ran back to the ring and got in just in time to beat the 10 count.

Winner: Jeff Hardy wins due to a countout of Mr. Kennedy.

Jim Ross spoke again about Dusty Rhodes getting injured by Randy Orton earlier. Jerry Lawler said this has to have a serious psychological effect on Cody. Footage was then shown of Cody accompanying his father's stretcher into the ambulance.

A promo shown for Triple H's return, billing him as "built better than before". The promo stated Triple H will return at Summerslam.

Kendrick & London vs. World's Greatest Tag Team

Kendrick showed early high flying and quick moves on the offense, until he was dropkicked outside the ring. Shelton Benjamin kept Kendrick down to the mat in a chokehold. Shelton able to land a solid kick to Kendrick's head and tried for a pin. Kendrick finally able to escape the doubleteam of Haas and Benjamin. London came in and began to attack both Haas and Benjami, ultimately knocking Haas down. Kendrick got up and the two did a double dropkick on Benjamin. Kendrick then flew over the ropes but Benjamin moved away causing Kendrick to land outside the ring.

Haas then grabbed London and put him face first on the top rope. As Haas held London there, Benjamin came into the ring, ran off the ropes and jumped onto London's back. Haas then slammed London backwards into a pin for the victory.

Winners: World's Greatest Tag Team wins via pinfall over Kendrick & London.

King Booker appeared on the ramp with Queen Sharmelle. Sharmelle spoke on the mic and told Jerry Lawler his earlier actions were uncalled for. Sharmelle said due to this Lawler will pay a hefty price, and handed the mic to Booker. Booker said next week on Raw he will face him in the ring and beat him like the dog he is. Booker said Lawler's reign of blasphemy is over.

Coach shown exiting his office backstage as Todd Grisham came up to him and asked if he's made his decision on who will face Cena for the WWE title. Coach said he will go announce the decision in a moment. Just then Candice Michelle came running up to Coach, asking him to reconsider having her in the Champions Only match. Candice said she doesn't want to face Umaga because he's a monster. Coach said this match is all about champions so he needs her to represent as a champion. Coach wished Candice good luck and then walked off.

Slam of the week replay shown of Umaga decimating Jeff Hardy last night at the Great American Bash to retain the Intercontinental title.

Candice Michelle & John Cena vs. Umaga, Cade & Murdoch

The Champions Only challenge on Raw set up by Coach which featured every title holder on Raw in a no DQ match. Candice stood at the top of the ramp hesitant to go down to the ring. Cena came out to his theme music, looked at Candice and handed his title to her. Cena then ran down into the ring to start the attack. Umaga, Cade and Murdoch triple teamed the champ. Candice came down to stand on the apron. Ross said Cena would not allow Candice to be put into harm's way. Umaga, Cade and Murdoch continued to gang up on Cena as Candice stood in the opposite corner. Cena started to fight back out of the heels' corner briefly until Murdoch punched him down. Cena gained a burst of momentum and took down Cade and Murdoch who then rolled out of the ring. Umaga came in and Cena went at him. Cena tried to do a flying bodypress off the ropes onto Umaga, but Umaga caught him, then slammed him down hard. Outside the ring Cade and Murdoch came over towards Candice on the apron, causing her to escape into the ring. Candice saw Umaga standing there and she tripped, falling back into the corner of the ring. Cade and Murdoch them held Candice's arms back so that Umaga could run at her.

Just then, Jeff Hardy ran down to the ring for the save with a steel chair, bashing it across Umaga in the ring and all the way up the ramp. Hardy tossed the chair at Umaga hard twice, then chased him backstage. Back in the ring, Cena beat up Lance Cade in the ring and delivered the F-U on him. Cena gained the pinfall victory.

As Cena stood up with his title to celebrate, Randy Orton had snuck into the ring behind him. Orton waited for Cena to turn around then RKO'd him down to the mat, knocking Cena out. Coach appeared at the top of the ramp with the mic and announced Randy Orton as the new #1 contender for Cena's title at Summerslam. Orton stood smiling as he looked down at the champ laying on the mat. Jim Ross remarked about how many legends Randy Orton has destroyed and asked if Cena will be next at Summerslam.

Winners: John Cena and Candice Michelle win via pinfall over Cade, Murdoch and Umaga.
