2013 WWE Battleground Matches Live Online & TV PPV Card

With 2013 Battleground coming Sunday, fans can watch matches on TV, or on live stream, due to the pay-per-view and pre-PPV kickoff special online.  Among the matches scheduled for the big event will be Daniel Bryan vs. Randy Orton for the vacated WWE championship, and Rob Van Dam vs. Alberto Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Championship, in a Hardcore match.  The Intercontinental and Divas championships will also be on the line, as well as the careers of Cody Rhodes and Golddust.

Starting at 7:30 p.m. EST on Sunday night, WWE will show a special live kickoff show online.  The show will be live streaming from WWE's YouTube channel, Facebook fan page, website, and Yahoo! Sports.  This half hour kickoff special will feature a free match ahead of the pay-per-view too, as Dolph Ziggler takes on Damien Sandow.  Will Battleground be the event that Sandow finally cashes in his Money in the Bank briefcase? The live stream kickoff show will also feature match previews, as well as insight and analysis from a WWE panel, usually hosted by Josh Matthews.

The main Battleground pay-per-view goes live on cable or satellite TV and live online feed via WWE's website starting at 8 p.m. EST.  Fans can order through their cable or satellite provider or WWE's site to watch all of the action.  As mentioned, the card features numerous title matches, as well as a few "grudge" matches.  Here's the full Battleground card for the 2013 edition of the pay-per-view:

  • Daniel Bryan vs. Randy Orton (for vacated WWE Championship)
  • Rob Van Dam vs. Alberto Del Rio (c) (WWE World Heavyweight Championship Hardcore championship)
  • Brie Bella vs. AJ Lee (c) (WWE Divas Championship)
  • CM Punk vs. Ryback (w/Paul Heyman)
  • Cody Rhodes & Goldust vs. Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns (if Rhodes & Goldust win, they get WWE roster spots back, if they lose, they'll never be rehired)
  • R-Truth vs. Curtis Axel (c) (WWE Intercontinental Championship)
  • Dolph Ziggler vs. Damien Sandow (WWE live online free PPV kickoff match)

Remember, it all starts at 7:30 p.m. EST on Sunday night from the First Niagara Center in Buffalo, NY with the live online kickoff show.  Fans can watch in any of the ways mentioned above.  The main Battleground pay-per-view goes live on cable or satellite TV, as well as WWE's available live stream feed starting at 8 p.m. EST, with an approximate run time through 11 p.m. EST.

NBA's Denver Nuggets defeat WWE Raw

A major scheduling issue came up recently which saw a conflict between the NBA's Denver Nuggets and televised WWE Raw for next Monday evening. The Nuggets were scheduled to host the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 4 of their Western Conference Finals matchup. Meanwhile, WWE had scheduled a live Raw event to take place the same night also in the Pepsi Center arena. According to the latest reports, the battle was won easily, by the Denver Nuggets. The game will go on as scheduled in the arena Monday night, but as of right now, Raw doesn't have a place to go, and fans are holding tickets expecting a Raw show Monday night.

According to the Denver Post's article, the WWE had reserved the Pepsi Center back on August 15th, 2008, and had sold more than 10,000 tickets for Monday Night Raw at the arena. Ticket prices range from $20 to $70 and the arena would be a sellout crowd according to WWE spokesman Robert Zimmerman.

According to the LA Times blog:

"I'm up the creek and I don't have a paddle, either," Vince McMahon, WWE chairman, told the Denver Post. I really don't know what to do.... I have no idea what's going to happen."

Prior to that Vince McMahon was livid with Nuggets owner Stan Kroenke, making the following statement to ESPN, as reported by Denver Post:

"Quite frankly, it's my view that Stan Kroenke should be arrested, should be arrested for impersonating a good businessman, because he's not a good businessman," McMahon said on ESPN. "A good businessman doesn't book a World Wrestling Federation live televised event on Monday night realizing that his team in all likelihood would not make the playoffs."

It'll be interesting to see how this is handled and we now know we won't see a shot of the Nuggets players clowning around in the front row at Raw, but maybe Vince McMahon will invite the Harlem Globetrotters instead to send another message. Now Jim Ross' comment on Monday Night Raw is much more clear "I'd like to see Carmelo Anthony do that" in reference to a wrestling move during one of the matches, a jab right at the competing brand of entertainment, the NBA. There's been recent articles comparing the two respective companies, with NBA being likened to the WWE due to recent events that have gone down. The WWE has lost this battle, as Kobe Bryant of the Lakers and Carmelo Anthony of the Nuggets will grapple on the arena floor rather than Ric Flair, Batista and Randy Orton, who will be in search of an arena to put on their show. According to the WWE, they may forgo using an arena, and just use the parking lot, which would be an interesting format, and maybe a good buildup to the Extreme Rules PPV, with a show full of parking lot brawls.

Read more about this story at the Denver Post article here.

Raw House Show Results - Syracuse, NY

Here's results from the 1/18/08 WWE Raw live house show in Syracuse, New York. There were 8 matches total with no Rumble qualifying matches. Thanks to Ashley F for sending these results in Friday night!

Hacksaw Jim Duggan def. Charlie Haas

    Trevor Murdoch def. DH Smith

    Snitzy def. Super Crazy

    Vladimir Kozlov def. Brian Kendrick

    Beth Phoenix def. Mickey James

Hardcore Holly / Cody Rhodes def. Santino Marella / Carlito

    Shawn Michaels def. Umaga

Randy Orton def. Jeff Hardy - Orton reversed the Twist of Fate to score the RKO on Hardy for the pinfall victory.

Looks like Hardy and Orton are back at it, just several nights after their trip to the medical center. Also interesting to see DH Smith back in the ring again, as well as Vladimir Kozlov wrestling. Kozlov seemed to fade out of the picture after apppearing on WWE shows for weeks saying how much he loved "Double Double E".

In Royal Rumble news, it appears both Mark Henry and Great Khali have been added to the Royal Rumble field. On Smackdown, Matt Striker noted that Big Daddy V will be a part of the match, but he's not featured on WWE.com yet.

WWE Shows & Superstars

If you're a WWE fanatic who attends a live WWE event (Pay Per Views, Raw, Smackdown or house shows), or meets a superstar, I'd like to share your experience/pics with other fans. Your story and pics would be displayed here for other fans to enjoy and you will have the opportunity to promote your site, cause, group, etc. I will never provide fan's personal info beyond a first name (unless asked not to) and respect privacy rights as well.

I know from personal experience how cool it is to see the wrestlers up close at the shows, and recommend any WWE fan sits near the entrance ramp at least once (unless you're fainthearted or scare easily). The jolt and heat from the pyrotechnics is pretty amazing!

Get in touch with me at wwecharacters@hotmail.com

or leave me a message on Myspace: http://www.myspace.com/wwecharacters

Catching up with Mr. Kennedy

FayObserver.com caught up with Mr. Kennedy via telephone for an interview prior to a live WWE house show in North Carolina. Kennedy was unsure of his opponent at the time of the interview. Here's what the Raw brand superstar had to say regarding Raw competition, his goals, and more..

From FayObserver.com:

“You can put whoever you want in the ring — I’m going to take ’em down,” said Kennedy, whose star has been on the rise in the WWE after winning the Money in the Bank Ladder Match at WrestleMania 23. Kennedy has also held the United States Champion belt.

Weekender caught up with the wrestler — who stands at 6’2” and weighs in at 243 lbs. — by phone while he traveled between matches.

Weekender: You’re one of the new faces of Monday Night Raw, recently coming from “SmackDown.” How’s that working out for you?

Kennedy: It’s been pretty good. I said a long time ago that I needed to face some new opponents. I’ve run through all the talent at “SmackDown.” It’s nice to get in the ring with people that can challenge me.

Weekender: Is there anyone in particular you’ve got your sights set on?

Kennedy: Triple H is coming back, and I’d love to put him back into hibernation.

Weekender: Ouch.

Kennedy: Yeah, Shawn Michaels and John Cena — I’d love to get my hands on those guys. I’m telling you right now that the WWE title will be around my waist. Soon.

Weekender: You handle your own introductions, which are pretty unique to say the least. How do you approach those?

Kennedy: I just try to come up with things that I know will treat the audience. I can definitely hear the crowd get into it, but sometimes you gotta stop the crowd from getting too into it.

Weekender: Are you happy with the progress you’ve been making in your career?

Kennedy: When I got into this business — my first match was in Green Bay, Wisc. — I set forth some short and long-term goals. I’ve been chipping away at those goals. I won my first match in 1999 and got my developmental contract in 2005. So, slowly but surely, I’m knocking those goals down.

Weekender: You seem pretty confident and patient that you’ll …

Kennedy: I’m not patient at all. I might have long-term goals, but if it comes tomorrow, then I want to do it."

Great commentary from Kennedy on wanting to face Cena, HHH and HBK in the ring. These would all make for some exciting feuds and matches. It seems with his never-ending confidence, Mr. Kennedy's title dreams could become reality in the not so distant future..You can read the full interview at FayObserver.com here.
