After a Memorial Day video package opened Raw, Triple H and Stephanie were introduced and came to the ring. They talked about how Daniel Bryan has to make the right choice, to surrender the WWE title, because he can’t defend it on a nightly basis. That drew “No” chants. HHH brought up that Shield will have a choice for a contract signing for Payback PPV, and if they sign they can go to the PPV and perish.

Next, they brought up how Raw GM Brad Maddox made the choice to allow Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns to be guest commentators during last week’s Batista match. They called him to the ring. Maddox said he didn’t want to do it but they gave him no choice. Stephanie then said they felt like they didn’t have a choice either. Kane’s music hit and he started to make his entrance. Triple H punched Maddox down to the mat. Kane got in the ring and used his foot to push Maddox down. Stephanie ordered Kane to teach Maddox a lesson so he chokeslammed and tombstoned him. Steph then told Maddox he was fired.

Eva Marie defeated Summer Rae via pinfall. Nikki Bella was ringside. At one point in the match, Fandango’s music hit and he came out dancing onto the stage with Layla. That distracted Summer allowing Eva to score a rollup pinfall.

Randy Orton and Batista were shown backstage talking in Triple H’s office. Goldust and Cody Rhodes showed up saying they came to talk to HHH about why they aren’t advertised for Raw again. Orton and Cody argued a bit. HHH walked in and ended up booking Orton and Batista vs. The Rhodes brothers, but said it wouldn’t be any ordinary match.

El Torito defeated Drew McIntyre via pinfall. Los Matadores, Hornswoggle and the rest of 3MB were ringside. During the match, Drew was ready for a superplex but Torito got away. A brawl broke out at ringside, distracting McIntyre, so Torito was able to pull him down and cover for a pinfall win. Post-match, Hornswoggle attacked Torito from behind, tried to take off his mask and then ripped off his tail.

The Wyatt Family came to the ring for a promo. Bray called for Jerry Lawler to get into the ring to talk, but Lawler shrugged it off. Bray told JBL and Cole not to move a muscle as the other Wyatts went to ringside to try to get Lawler. JBL got up and started towards the ring, but Harper clotheslined him down. Harper stared down Lawler and he finally got into the ring. They set up a chair for Lawler to sit in as Bray talked about how Jerry’s a friend of Cena’s and cheerleads about how great a man he is. Bray suggested he was going to make an example of Lawler, then hung upside down in the ring corner as Harper and Rowan held Lawler up.

John Cena’s music hit and he rushed down to the ring to fight the Wyatts. The heels eventually overpowered him and Bray put  a foot on Lawler’s face. He said Cena can watch his friend fall and realize it’s all his fault. Bray set up for Sister Abigail on the King, but The Usos rushed out to intervene. Cena and the Usos cleared the ring, with Cena calling Bray “plain evil” after he got the mic. He said “Payback will be a bitch” for Wyatt next Sunday.

Orton surprised him with an RKO then moments later hit another for the pinfall win. Post-match, Justin Roberts announced he had been told this was a handicap elimination match and Cody had to leave the ring so Goldust could face Orton and Batista 1-on-2.

Batista and Randy Orton defeated Goldust in a no holds barred handicap match via pinfall. Goldust had a bit of fight in him against Orton, but Batista charged and hit a spear on him to get the Batista Bomb and the win.

Before the match, Bo Dallas cut a promo talking about Raw being the summit on the top of the mountain of his dream. He told the fans we don’t conquer the mountain but our dreams. In the match, Sin Cara had a bit of offense, but Dallas hit the Bo-Dog for the win. Post-match, he told the fans you get satisfaction from effort and if you give it your all, then you’re already a winner.

Stephanie McMahon came to the ring to call out Daniel Bryan to hand over his title belts. Bryan came out with the belts wearing a neck brace. He talked about how his match with Kane caused a lot of the issues. Steph tried to assure Bryan he could get another shot again when he came back healthy. Bryan rolled his eyes and then told Stephanie he had a word for her she’s not used to, “NO! NO! NO!” Bryan began to lead the crowd in a chant. Stephanie said she was afraid this might happen and asked if the fans or the injury were messing with Bryan’s brain.

She brought up two weeks ago when Bryan was being taken away by ambulance and showed footage on the big screen. Brie shoved Stephanie away in front of the ambulance. She told Bryan “you can’t put your hands on the boss” and for every action there’s a reaction. She told Bryan he has until Sunday to hand in the WWE World Heavyweight title or his wife is fired.

Emma defeated Alicia Fox via pinfall. Fox was in control throughout but then missed on a big boot in the corner. Emma scored the roll up pinfall for the win. Post match, Fox went on a rampage, attacking Emma and then throwing her out of the ring. She ripped a crew member’s top off and gave him a wedgie then poured soda on herself and kissed the crew member.

Adam Rose defeated Damien Sandow via pinfall. Despite Jack Swagger and Zeb Colter arriving out with one of the Rosebuds, Rose was able to get the win. Swagger attacked him post-match, but Rose was able to turn the tables to get the best of Swagger once again.

Sheamus defeated Alberto Del Rio in a non-title matchup via pinfall. Del Rio kept trying to put away Sheamus for the win, but couldn’t. He eventually tried for a Cross Arm-breaker, but Sheamus slipped out of the hold, then moments later hit the Brogue Kick. Post-match, Paul Heyman got on the mic to introduce Sheamus as winner, and apologized for not being more enthusiastic. He announced that his client Brock Lesnar ended Undertaker’s undefeated streak at WrestleMania. While Sheamus was keyed in on Heyman’s speech, Cesaro snuck into the ring to attack him, hitting The Neutralizer to leave Sheamus on the mat.

Michael Cole was in the ring for the official Payback contract signing involving The Shield and Evolution for their elimination-style match at the pay-per-view. As Cole was speaking, The Shield’s music hit and they came through the crowd to the ring. They spoke about how they will rid WWE of Evolution this Sunday. Reigns threw the various chairs and other items out of the ring. Evolution arrived out with HHH saying the fans need to pay attention because once Shield signs off on the contract, it’s the last time they’ll ever appear on Raw.

Eventually everyone signed, and Reigns got on the mic to tell HHH to shut up and fight. All three of Evolution got in the ring. They acted like they were going to back off, but then went on the attack, with a brawl in the ring. Hunter nearly got a Pedigree, but got knocked to the floor instead. Reigns and Batista ended up one-on-one in the ring. Hunter retrieved his sledgehammer from the outside and hit Reigns from out of the ring. Orton hit the RKO on Rollins, then Batista speared Reigns down.

Eventually on the outside, Evolution took Reigns and cleared off the announce table. They hit a Triple Powerbomb similar to Shield’s driving Reigns through the table. Evolution mocked Shield by putting their three fists together after replays were shown of the attack.

2014 WWE Extreme Rules Matches (Updated)

As of Monday’s episode of Raw, several new matches were added to the official 2014 WWE Extreme Rules card. Among them will be the first-ever “WeeLC” match featuring Hornswoggle vs. Torito, as well as a Triple Threat match, and the finalized match for the Intercontinental Title. These three matches join several other great bouts on a stacked card for Sunday’s big event.

The WeeLC match doesn’t feature any stipulations, but one might expect it to mimic the TLC match (Tables, Ladders & Chairs). Hornswoggle and El Torito squared off on Smackdown about a week ago and now will take their feud to the next level. The match is scheduled to appear on WWE’s pre-show for Extreme Rules.

Also joining the card will be the Intercontinental Title match featuring Big E defending his title. Bad News Barrett was the winner of the #1 contender’s tournament after defeating RVD in the tournament finals on Monday’s Raw. Barrett now gets the title shot during the pay-per-view. Van Dam will be inserted into a Triple Threat match against feuding stars Jack Swagger and Cesaro, with no stipulations as of this writing.

Those matches join John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt in the steel cage, Paige vs. Tamina (Divas title), The Shield vs. Evolution, R-Truth and Xavier Woods vs. Alexander Rusev, as well as the big WWE World Championship match. In that matchup, Kane takes on Daniel Bryan for the title in an Extreme Rules match.

The pay-per-view arrives this Sunday at 8 p.m. EST on various cable and satellite providers. WWE mentioned on Raw that DISH and DIRECTV won’t be among those providers on Sunday, but encouraged fans to subscribe to WWE Network online to see the PPV.

Raw Results 09/23/13

Raw Results from Chicago, IL:

The show opened with ten superstars on stage, the ones who had supported Daniel Bryan on the previous Raw by rushing to the ring to help him fight off The Shield.  They were the same ones who Vickie tried to put into the Gauntlet match on SmackDown.  HHH and Stephanie McMahon came out on stage, looked at them, and then headed to the ring which was guarded by The Shield and had red carpeting inside it.  They brought up how these guys think they're fighting for Daniel Bryan, but they're really angry because of The Shield.  HHH said each and every one of the guys on stage has been beaten down by Shield, but tonight he's giving them a chance to get some revenge.

HHH announced an 11-on-3 handicap match, and they'll all have Daniel Bryan as their partner against The Shield.  HHH also added that one of them will get a match against Randy Orton later on: Dolph Ziggler, R-Truth or RVD.  Stephanie talked about using the WWE App to vote for their choice.  HHH said "whats best for all of you is best for business."

Alberto Del Rio defeated Kofi Kingston via submission in a non-title match.  Del Rio was able to send Kofi into the ring post shoulder-first late in this match.  He slapped the cross arm breaker on Kofi who soon tapped out from it.

Backstage, Renee Young had The Miz as her interview.  They showed video of what Orton did to Miz just last week in front of his parents in his hometown.  After video, Miz was going to talk but Triple H was there to interrupt.  He said he can't let Miz near Orton tonight or have Miz competing in his current condition, so instead he'll have a talking segment with his guest, the Big Show for Miz TV.

They showed video of Cody Rhodes getting fired by Triple H three weeks ago on Raw, then Orton beating Goldust the week after, and Big Show being ordered to KO Dusty Rhodes in the ring by Stephanie McMahon last week.

Erick Rowan & Luke Harper defeated The Prime Time Players via pinfall.  Late in the match, all four guys got into a brawl, with Darren Young clotheslining Rowan over the top rope and then getting set out of the ring himself.  Harper hit a lariat on Titus O'Neil then collected the pinfall.  Post-match, Young came back in the ring to check on Titus, but Bray Wyatt rushed into the ring and attacked D-Young, then hit Sister Abigail on him.  The Wyatts stacked PTP up in the ring, and Bray yelled out to "Follow the buzzards!"

The Miz had Big Show as his in-ring guest for MizTV.  He brought up Show KOing Dusty Rhodes last week.  Show said that Triple H and Stephanie would have sent The Shield to get Dusty if Show didn't do that.  Miz mades a remark about Stephanie, so she comes out to interrupt, heading to the ring.  Miz told Stephanie to take her legal threats and shove them up her ass.  Stephanie belittles Miz calling him a "utility player" - someone who will do an early TV or radio appearance, travel to a foreign country or do a local supermarket signing.  She says he failed his family friends and himself last week, and that he just didn't measure up.  Stephanie tells Miz he hasn't learned his lesson, then she ordered Big Show to knock him out.  Show hits Miz with the KO punch, then leaves the ring.  Stephanie stands over The Miz for a bit and then leaves the ring.

Rob Van Dam and Randy Orton ended in a double-countout in a non-title match.  Late in the match, Orton kicked RVD out to the floor, after knocking him off the corner area.  On the outside, Orton kept up the attack and tossed RVD into the crowd barrier.  As Orton tore the barrier apart and the ref called for the bell to signal the double count out.  Post-match, Orton kept up his attack, tossing RVD into the steel steps multiple times, and then throwing him across the announcers table.  Orton finished off the attack by bringing RVD back into the ring and hitting the DDT from the middle ropes on him.

After Raw's commercial break, they showed that during break, Alberto Del Rio had run down to attack RVD some more as trainers were helping him out of the ring.

Backstage, Orton saw The Bella Twins.  He tells Brie what he just did to RVD is only a fraction of what he'll do to Bryan.  He tells her she needs to upgrade.  Brie tells him she has a real man and a real champion in Daniel Bryan.  Orton makes some more insulting remarks before leaving the scene.

Backstage, AJ Lee walked up to Stephanie McMahon to complain about the match she was put in tonight.  Stephanie tells her she will compete in the 10 diva match, or maybe she won't be the divas champion for much longer.  AJ walks off to go get ready.

Fandango defeated Santino Marella via pinfall.  Late in the match, Summer distracted Santino allowing Fandango to hit him.  Fandango went up to the corner area, but Santino went up to stop him.  Fandango managed to knock him off and to the mat, then hit the big leg drop to get the win.

CM Punk made his big return to Chicago to a huge ovation from the crowd.  He was wearing a Blackhawks jersey and kept talking about how proud he is of the hockey team, but disappointed he couldn't get the Stanley Cup there tonight since it was in Montreal being engraved.  He apologized for letting fans down by getting pinned by Heyman at Night of Champions.  He says he plans to come back strong and win, because he won't let the fans down again.  Just then, Paul Heyman comes out in his wheelchair.  He taunts Punk, reminding him that he pinned him at the PPV.  Punk threatens to run up their and give him a beatdown.

Heyman goes to leave, but his electric wheelchair isn't working right.  Punk rushes up the ramp, but Curtis Axel and Ryback come out to attack.  Punk managed to fight them off and knocked Ryback off the ramp.  Axel took Punk on stage, but Punk was able to whip him into the lights under the big TV.  Punk jumped off the stage and went to hit Ryback on the floor.  Axel attacked again, but Punk fought him off.  However, Ryback was back up and got Punk from behind, throwing him around the set.  Ryback ended up tossing Punk from high off the stage down through a table, with Punk landing on the floor.  Heyman gets up from his wheelchair and walks around, showing no lingering injuries.  Ryback says this is what happens to bullies. Heyman stands over Punk laughing as fans chant for CM Punk before Raw hits commercial.

Cameron, Naomi, Natalya and The Bella Twins defeated AJ Lee, Alicia Fox, Aksana and Tamina via pinfall.  Eva Marie and Jo Jo were at ringside.  During the match, a few of the divas got knocked out to the floor.  AJ and Brie fought in the ring, with Brie ending up getting the pin on AJ.  Post-match, Tamina carried AJ away as the other Total Divas celebrated in the ring.

Daniel Bryan, Dolph Ziggler, R-Truth and The Usos defeated Seth Rollins via pinfall in the 11-on-3 handicap elimination match.  The match was an 11-on-3 handicap elimination match which also had  Rob Van Dam, Darren Young, Titus O'Neil, Kofi Kingston, , Zack Ryder, Justin Gabriel and Reigns/Ambrose of Shield.  As The Shield were making their entrance through the crowd, two guys dressed in all black attacked them.  It turned out tone Godust and Cody Rhodes.  Security grabbed them and dragged them away through the crowd.  The Shield recovered at ringside as Raw took a commercial break.

Rob Van Dam was one of the first eliminated, as Dean Ambrose scored a pin on him right before a commercial break.  After brea, Reigns worked on Kofi Kingston some, before Ambrose tagged in and eventually after focusing on Kofi's hurt arm, scored the pinfall to eliminate him.  Titus O'Neil came in next and ended up missing a big boot on Reigns, then getting speared down for the pin by Reigns.  Justin Gabriel was eliminated next, followed by Ryder.

Later, Daniel Bryan came in and unloaded on Reigns, then hit dropkicks on Ambrose and Rollins.  Reigns missed on a splash, then Bryan hit several dropkicks on him.  One of the Usos made a tag in and hit the Superkick on Reigns, then the other Uso hit the Superfly Splash on Reigns for the pin to eliminate him.

After another break, D-Young was getting beat up by Rollins and Ambrose.  Moments later, Young was about to eliminate Ambrose but Rollins made a tag and broke up the pin off the top rope.  Rollins then pinned Young to eliminate him.  Ziggler came in and fought Ambrose, with the two trading offense.  Ziggler managed to hit a surprise Zig Zag during their fight and took out Ambrose, leaving it a 5-on-1 match with only Rollins left for The Shield.

During the final stages of the match, Ziggler, Truth, The Usos and Bryan all worked on Rollins who realized he was outnumbered.  Reigns and Ambrose tried to get involved again, only to get knocked away by Ziggler and The Usos.  Bryan ended up as the legal man against Rollins.  They went to the top rope with Bryan knocking Rollins to the mat before hitting a diving headbutt.  Bryan finished Rollins off with his flying knees to get the pinfall win for his team.  Post-match, Bryan and the fans chanted "YES" to celebrate the big win, right before Raw went off the air.

Vince McMahon came out to the ring to talk about Brad Maddox's decision in the Bryan vs. Barrett match earlier.  He calls out Maddox who apologizes for the mistake.  Vince tells him everyone makes mistakes.  He announced there will be a special referee for the Bryan vs. Cena match at Summerslam, and out comes Triple H.

The Miz hosted an edition of MizTV in the ring with Daniel Bryan and John Cena coming the ring as his special guests.  Cena talked up their match on Summerslam saying it will be a hell of a fight on Sunday.  Miz started to speak but Bryan cut him off, threatening to punch him if he doesn't shut up.  Bryan talked about how this is just another Summerslam for Cena, but for him it's the match of his life.  He says he just wants to win the WWE Title once.  Bryan talked about how Cena isn't treating this like his matches against Rock or Shawn Michaels.  He brings up how in Japan before a big match, the two opponents would slap each other as part of tradition.  Bryan says he wishes he could that with Cena but can't because Cena isn't a wrestler and doesn't deserve it.  Cena slaps Bryan and tells him to slap back.  Bryan tells Cena he doesn't deserve it.  Triple H comes to the ring and gets in between Cena and Bryan.  Randy Orton arrives out to the stage and stares down to the right with his music playing as he surveys the ring.

R-Truth vs. Fandango match was a no contest. Before the bell, they had a bit of a dance-off.  Fandango attacked Truth during his dancing, and the two started to brawl.  Fandango exited the ring and left the match.

Heyman had a video package shown detailing Lesnar's path of destruction against Punk.  Lesnar smirked about it after the video ended, then said Summerslam will be the death of CM Punk.  Heyman said he'll fight Punk here tonight, as long as Punk is willing to fight them in a handicap match.  He said Punk can play the hero, and all heroes are stupid.  Heyman said Punk does have another option - to not play the hero and disappoint all the fans.  Heyman said all Punk needs to do is tuck his tail between his legs, walk out the door and live another day so he can fight at Summerslam.  Heyman called out Punk and Punk's theme song hit.

However, there was no sign of Punk.  All of a sudden, he snuck into the ring and took one of the camermen's cameras then smashed it in Lesnar's face.  Punk hit him in the back with the camera as Heyman looked on.  Brock rolled out of the ring, but Punk threw the camera aside and then hit a suicide dive onto Lesnar on the floor.  Punk grabbed a chair on the outside and smashed it on Lesnar.  He then went back into the ring with Heyman but Heyman fled.

Punk chased Heyman with the chair but he took off yelling for Brock.  Curtis Axel came out to intervene, but Punk unloaded on him, then the two brawled.  Punk tossed Axel into the Raw set pieces, then delivered a GTS on Axel on stage.  He yelled out "I am the Best in the World!" as his theme song played.  A shot was shown of Lesnar recovering from the attack on the floor as Raw ended.

Raw Results 08/05/13

Raw Results from Green Bay, WI:

Raw opened with Stephanie McMahon bringing Daniel Bryan to the ring after his "makeover."  He had slicked back hair and a suit, with video footage shown of his spa treatment, gym workout and eating at a steakhouse.  Bryan spoke in the ring saying he doesn't think his new look is what WWE really wants, instead saying that they want someone like Cena.  Bryan says Cena's an entertainer, but he's a wrestler, and if Cena was fired tomorrow he'd just go back to his mansion and 20 car lifestyle.  Bryan said if it were him fired, he'd be going to every armory, gym and dirtbox filled with 30 fans, so he could wrestle, because he loves it.

Vince McMahon eventually came out to interrupt.  He said he doesn't want Cena as champion, but wants Bryan as champ even less.  He made jokes about how unkempt and weak Bryan comes off as.  Vince finally said he can use his influence to help Bryan because champion - but only if he shaves off his beard.  Vince ordered a barber chair to be brought out to ringside, which crew members did.  He threatens to get rid of Bryan if he doesn't comply, then calls down Wade Barrett, saying Barrett's grandfather was a barber.

Barrett prepared to shave off Bryan's beard, but D-Bry wasn't having it and headbutted Barrett.  He started to shave off Wade's beard instead, then delivered more strikes to his head.  Barrett charged at Bryan near the barrier, but got dumped into the crowd.  Bryan led a "Yes!" chant as he went up the ramp with Vince furious inside the ring.

Rob Van Dam defeated Alberto Del Rio via pinfall in a non-title match.  Ricardo Rodriguez was back on Raw as ADR's ring announcer.  The Miz was on commentary during the match as well.  Late in the contest, RVD went for a split leg moonsault with ADR getting his knees up.  Ricardo tried to assist, putting his bucked in the corner.  RVD countered a move by Del Rio to throw him into the bucket, then covered for the pinfall win.  Post-match, Del Rio attacked Rodriguez, kicking him in the head, and then tossing him out of the ring.  Del Rio snaps and puts RR's head in between the steel steps, then dropkicks the steps, KO'ing RR.

Cody Rhodes went to the ring and had a "gift" for Damien Sandow, which he revealed to be the MITB briefcase soaking wet and with seaweed hanging out of it.  Sandow comes to the ring and tells Cody to put the briefcase down and leave now.  Cody does so, but then rushed back into the ring and attacked Sandow.  He throws Sandow to the outside, then opens the briefcase showing the title contract is soaking wet and torn.

CM Punk vs. Curtis Axel ended in a no decision.  Punk gained control late after kicking Axel in the head, then jumped over to grab Heyman.  Punk brought Heyman into the ring to get his hands on him, but Brock Lesnar arrived out to the arena.  Punk hit a GTS on Axel to take him out, and then got into a brawl with Lesnar.  Punk got in several moves on Brock including ramming him into the ring post and jumping off the announce table at him.  Punk managed to counter Lesnar's F5 attempt and hit him with a steel chair, then turned towards Heyman again.  Lesnar was back up and attacked Punk from behind, hitting the F5.  Heyman ordered him to hurt Punk, so Brock repeatedly bashed the steel chair on him.

After a break, Renee Young was backstage with Heyman, Axel and Brock Lesnar.  She asked about what just happened.  Lesnar says he's the "beast and the best in the world."  Heyman tells Renee to deliver a message to Punk, that he might not make it to SummerSlam, because next week, Heyman is going to challenge Punk to a match.

Daniel Bryan, John Cena & Randy Orton defeated The Shield due to disqualification.  Late in the match, Bryan is able to counter a move from Seth Rollins to go for a tag, bringing in Orton and Ambrose at the same time.  Later on in the match, Bryan managed to gain control and slap the Yes Lock on Rollins.  Ambrose and Reigns attacked and got called for the DQ.

Post-match, Bryan celebrated the win, but Orton nailed the RKO on him.  Shield comes in to attack, but Cena and Orton clear them out.  Orton hits the RKO on Cena and stands over him.  He goes out and gets his briefcase ready to cash in, then crawled into the ring.  The Shield came back down to the ring, so Orton backed off.  Reigns hit a spear on Cena, then Ambrose stomped on Bryan.  Orton watched and backed up the ramp.  Rollins and Ambrose stomp on Bryan together, then hit a Triple Powerbomb on him.  Orton watched from the ramp as the Shield stood tall and Raw went off the air.
