Smackdown Preview 02.19.10

On tonight's episode of Smackdown, the Rated-R Superstar Edge is set to return to action. That's the good news for Edge and his fans, with the bad news being he has to face a bizarre yet destructive opponent in the form of Batista. The Animal's last promo on Smackdown was done in all silence, simply pacing around the ring, allowing the fans to boo his silence, and then leaving backstage. He finally made his remarks on WWE Raw this past Monday by telling John Cena he'll arrive to Raw next week. This comes in response to the attack Batista made on Cena weeks ago on Raw. In Batista's last match, he left the ring to get counted out against CM Punk, losing his shot at the Elimination Chamber and Heavyweight title. Will Batista have a repeat performance against Edge? Will The Animal even step inside the ring tonight?

With the Elimination Chamber PPV on the horizon for Sunday, all six of the involved competitors will look to gain some momentum. R-Truth, Chris Jericho, Rey Mysterio, CM Punk and John Morrison would all like to win the Undertaker's title this Sunday. For Jericho, Mysterio and Punk it would be another title reign to add to their resumes, while for R-Truth or Morrison it would be historic as their first. Recently, as R-Truth and John Morrison competed in a tune-up match for the Chamber, Morrison appeared to twist his ankle. The injury caused the referee to call the match, with Morrison requiring assistance to get on his feet and backstage. Will Morrison be healthy for the upcoming Pay-Per-View event?

And finally, it appears that the Mickie James-Team LayCool feud is not yet over. On the last episode of Smackdown, Mickie accidentally splattered a bowl of cottage cheese all over Smackdown consultant Vickie Guerrero. This sent Guerrero into a rage and she set up a handicap match to punish Mickie for the act. Mickie was left to fend for herself in the ring against Michelle McCool and Layla. Although the current Womens Champ looked good in the earlygoing, she didn't have enough to hold off both heel divas. Team LayCool soon had control of the match, and after a Faitbreaker by McCool it was all over. What will be next between these WWE Divas as McCool looks to try to regain her title?

Smackdown Preview 02.05.10

Tonight's edition of Smackdown will feature the much-anticipated return of the Rated-R Superstar to the show. On this past Sunday, Edge made a dramatic return to the wrestling ring when he entered the Royal Rumble at #29. From there he eliminated his former tag partner, the always cocky Chris Jericho, and then moments later eliminated John Cena to become the 2010 Royal Rumble winner. With those eliminations, Edge earned himself a main event spot at Wrestlemania 26. When he appeared on Raw this past week, Edge discussed his options of challenging Sheamus or Undertaker for their titles. Edge also suggested he might wait for the Elimination Chamber PPV to see who the current champs are. On Raw, the WWE Champion Sheamus came to the ring to try to intimidate Edge, but it was to no avail. Sheamus ended up being speared down and left down on the mat, showing that Edge is ready for the fight. On tonight's Smackdown he will host the Cutting Edge in the ring with special guest, the Undertaker. How will things play out between Edge and the World Heavyweight champion?

At Sunday's Royal Rumble, Rey Mysterio unfortunately failed in his attempt to defeat the Undertaker. While Rey lost cleanly, it was definitely a disappointing loss for the master of the 619. Now it appears that Rey may have another shot at the title, but only if he's added to the Elimination Chamber match for the title. On Raw, a series of matches were held in order to determine the 5 challengers for the WWE Title Elimination Chamber. John Cena, Randy Orton, Ted Dibiase, Triple H and Kofi Kingston have all qualified for the Raw match. Will Smackdown determine its Chamber competitors in a similar way? Who will qualify for the World Heavyweight chamber match?

And finally, with this Sunday's Rumble there were plenty of surprises during the event. The Glamazon Beth Phoenix was part of the Rumble match and eliminated the biggest man in the match, the Great Khali. CM Punk was on a roll in the match as he eliminated several superstars, only to be eliminated by Triple H. In the WWE Womens Title match, Mickie James finally achieved her goals of winning back the title and shutting up the insulting Michelle McCool. There will be plenty of fallout from the big Pay-Per-View! What new feuds will develop as a result of the event?

Smackdown Recap 01.22.10

Smackdown recap from :

Todd Grisham welcomed fans in to the show just 9 days ahead of the 2010 Royal Rumble. On tonight's show, by order of Smackdown consultant Vickie Guerrero, John Morrison will be in a 2-on-1 handicap match against Drew McIntyre and Chris Jericho. The Animal Batista arrived out to a large amount of boos and thumbs down as he came out to start off the show. A spotlight went down on Batista as he walked down the ramp.

Finlay vs. Batista

Early on, Batista did a flex pose and Finlay responded with a punch to the face. Batista battled back, but Finlay kept going and took him down with a move from off the corner. He hit a Celtic Cross roll slam early for a near fall, followed by a sit splash. The two wrestlers ended up outside the ring where Batista began to gouge Finlay in the eyes. The ref came out and told Batista to break the hold. Batista didn't so the ref immediately yelled for them to ring the bell.

Batista tossed Finlay across the commentator's table, then around the outside, into the steel steps and crowd barrier. Batista continued his attack as he picked up Finlay and rammed his back into the ringpost several times. Another toss into the steel steps for Finlay, and then Batista put him back in the ring. He grabbed a mic from the outside then did a Spinebuster on Finlay in the ring. Batista got on the mic and told people "imagine that times 29, because that will happen at the Rumble". He began naming other Rumble competitors and kicked Finlay for each one. He told Undertaker he's going to win the Royal Rumble and main event Wrestlemania. He vowed to end Taker's win streak as well.

Winner: Finlay wins due to disqualification of Batista.

Later tonight, Rey Mysterio calls out World Heavyweight champ, The Undertaker.

Smackdown returned with footage of Rey Mysterio winning a previous Royal Rumble. He lasted 1 hour 2 minutes and 15 seconds to set a record, when he eliminated Randy Orton.

CM Punk and Luke Gallows arrived out next to save a member of the WWE Universe by inducting them into the Straightedge Society. Punk & Gallows are #1 Contenders for the Unified Tag titles. They showed highlights from last week of a Fatal Fourway tag match, where Gallows hit the Twelfth Step on JTG to win the match.

Punk & Gallows remained at the top of the ramp. Punk got on the mic to say the reason they are #1 contenders now and will bring honor back to the Unified tag titles is because they are Straightedge. Punk said that's also what will propel him to win the 2010 Royal Rumble, the first ever Straightedge winner. Punk called the audience a bunch of losers and began walking down the ramp looking right at audience members. He said he can see them rotting before his eyes, with parents smoking and drinking in front of their children to transform the next generation. Punk said he knows that he can save each and every last one of them. Punk asked who will be the brave fortunate one tonight who wants to be saved, as he walked around the ring.

A crazed woman came running from out of the audience and nearly tackled Punk down, screaming she needs him. Gallows restrained her and yelled for security to come do their job. A security guy came over and escorted the woman kicking and screaming up the ramp, and another lady in a suit came out to take her. Punk got on the mic and told them to stop, because that woman needs him. He sent Luke to get her to the ring.

Punk said he can see a lifetime of pain and suffering in the woman's eyes. She said her name was Serina. Punk asked Serina if she's an addict, and she answered that she is and really wants to change. He compared her to the rest of audience saying they all wait in line or at work watching the clock until they get their next pill or drink. Punk said he cares about her unlike the WWE Universe who are all enablers with no self-respect. They sat Serina in a chair in the ring, had her raise her hand up to pledge to Straightedge. She accepted it into her life, then Gallows brought out the clippers and soon after Punk shaved her long hair off. Afterwords, they all raised their arms together for Straightedge.

Drew McIntyre and Chris Jericho arrived out for their upcoming handicap match. Next to arrive was their opponent, John Morrison, who got in the ring to stare down McIntyre from a few feet away as Jericho smirked. Before the match began, GM Teddy Long arrived out to the ramp. Teddy said not to ring the bell just yet. He said Vickie didn't consult with him before making this handicap match, so he's making it a tag team matchup now, with R-Truth as John Morrison's partner. Truth came out to do a high-octane intro performance of "What's Up?" involving the crowd in the chorus.

John Morrison & R-Truth vs. Drew McIntyre & Chris Jericho

They announced that next week Morrison takes on Drew McIntyre in a NO DQ title match. After the heels dominated Morrison for a bit, he managed to grab Jericho for a backbreaker and Russian legsweep. Both men were down, and Morrison rolled towards Truth. Jericho crawled to McIntyre who ran in and stepped on Morrison's back to knock Truth off the apron. After a commercial, McIntyre was still in control with an arm hold on Morrison on the mat. Morrison began to battle back and did an armbar toss on McIntyre, but Drew came back with a spinning backbreaker move. Jericho came back in again for more punishment on JMo.

During one bit, Jericho distracted the ref as McIntyre ran on the apron to kick Morrison's face. Morrison managed to fight with Jericho on the top ropes, shoving Jericho down and then hitting a flying cross body. Morrison had a near fall, then tried to stretch for a tag. Jericho grabbed his leg to stop it. Morrison countered a Walls of Jericho and tried to crawl for a tag, but once again McIntyre tagged in to stop the attempt. He continued to wear down Morrison.

Morrison finally was able to counter an attempted move by McIntyre, turning it into a DDT from the air. And Morrison finally made the hot tag to R-Truth, who came in on fire versus Jericho. Truth hit a variety of moves, including a handspring after avoiding Jericho in the corner. He had the pin but McIntyre broke it up, so Morrison rushed in to knock Drew outside. Jericho grabbed Morrison and threw him out. Truth grabbed Jericho for a near roll up pin. Jericho kicked out then kicked Truth in the head. Just as he went for a pinfall, Morrison rolled Drew back in the ring and the ref was distracted. Morrison hit a kick on Jericho near the corner, allowing Truth to come back and hit his scissors kick to the head for the pin.

Winners: John Morrison & R-Truth win via pinfall over Drew McIntyre & Chris Jericho.

They rolled out footage of Wrestlemania 22, where Rey Mysterio won the World Heavyweight Title for the first time in his career. Rey won by defeating Randy Orton and Kurt Angle in a Triple Threat match.

Layla and Michelle McCool were in the ring next for a divas segment. The ring was set up with pink balloons and a table full of food and red punch in a bowl. Michelle McCool said they had a match scheduled for the Womens title but it was cancelled. Michelle said she has good news though: Piggy James is leaving Smackdown for good. Michelle said they're throwing her a going away party, and showed all the food on the table off, including a few cakes that were designed with pink pigs on them. Finally, Maria came out to interrupt their skit.

Maria called the two heel divas annoying and said things will end right now. Maria said they only seem good at torturing Mickie, but that ends tonight. Maria says they should be leaving Smackdown not Mickie. Mickie said she doesn't care if they walk out hand in hand, or they're carried out. Michelle called Maria underfed, and told her she should be out getting Donald Trump a coffee. Maria got in their faces, which brought Mickie James out next with a mic.

Mickie said she's dealt with girls like Layla and Michelle all her life. Mickie said deep down inside they know they're nothing but try to put others down. Mickie said she pities them, then said she is what a real woman looks like. Mickie said the women in the audience are what real women are, skinny, fat, curvy, gorgeous and sexy. Mickie said she's how God intended her to be, and proud of it so their teasing won't chase her away. Mickie said the only people who will ever tell her if she needs to go are the WWE Universe. Michelle said with Mickie in the ring the fans get to see WWE and Animal Planet. Mickie said she will be at the Royal Rumble. Mickie said it's about time she embarrassed them now and taught them manners.

Layla started squawking at Mickie so she got punched first. All four divas got into it, with Maria battling Layla, and Mickie battling Michelle in separate corners. Beth Phoenix ran to the ring looking confused over what to do. She grabbed Maria and tossed her into the ringpost, then ran over to attack Mickie. Michelle and Layla joined in o nthe attack making it 3 on 1. Beth held Mickie so Michelle could further humiliate her, saying it was "feeding time for Piggy James". She picked up a pig off one of the cakes as Layla and Beth held Mickie. Michelle smashed the cake in Mickie's face, then said she needs to wash it down. Michelle picked up the bowl of punch and dumped it on Mickie's head. Layla and Michelle admired their work as they posed for the crowd with Mickie looking devastated in tears.

Cryme Tyme vs. Mike Knox & Charlie Haas

Not even a minute into the tag match, the Big Red Monster, Kane came down to the ring. JTG rushed towards him and got thrown out over the ropes. He threw out Haas next. Knox went after Kane, and Shad came over to help. Kane grabbed both by the throat and shoved them over the top rope as well. Kane raised his arms up and dropped them down to release his explosive pyro from the ring corners. Striker said Kane has to be considered a favorite in the 2010 Royal Rumble.

Winners: No contest as match was interrupted by Kane's interference.

Highlights were show from last Friday's steel cage match between Rey Mysterio and Batista. Batista punished Mysterio around the steel structure throughout, but in the end Mysterio was able to scale the wall and started his descent. Batista went for the cage door exit, with Mysterio kicking it into Batista's head. Mysterio won the match to become #1 Contender for Undertaker's title at the Royal Rumble.

Striker and Grisham said next up Rey Mysterio will call out The Undertaker.

When Smackdown returned they discussed the 2010 Royal Rumble which will feature Randy Orton taking on Sheamus for the WWE Title, Rey Mysterio challenging Undertaker for the World Heavyweight title, and the 30-Man Royal Rumble Match. The winner gets to move on to Wrestlemania 26 for a title shot.

Matt Hardy & The Great Khali vs. The Hart Dynasty

Striker asked how anyone can expect to throw Khali over the top rope. Hardy and Khali danced in the ring right before their opponents were introduced.

Early on The Hart Dynasty ran a doubleteam on Matt Hardy in and outside the ring. DH Smith hit a standing suplex on Hardy then locked in a submission hold chin lock with Hardy's arm raised. During the match, Kidd instructed Natalya to sneak around the ring over to Great Khali. Khali jumped down off the apron as Natalya began to make advances towards him. Natalya began to lead Khali up the ramp by the hand. Meanwhile in the ring, Matt shoved DH Smith against the ropes to knock Kidd off the apron, then rolled up DH Smith for a quick pinfall win. Hardy, Khali and Singh celebrated on the ramp.

Winners: Matt Hardy & Great Khali win via pinfall over The Hart Dynasty.

Rey Mysterio was shown backstage headed out for the ring to call out Undertaker next.

Rey Mysterio made his entrance down to the ring to call out The Undertaker. He slapped hands with fans along the way, stopping to talk to some with Mysterio masks on. He addressed the people asking why he would be crazy or stupid enough to call out Undertaker. Mysterio said four years ago he won the World title and it was a dream come true. He said the only thing standing between him and reliving that dream is a nightmare: The Undertaker. Mysterio said he wants to look Taker in the eyes to tell him he's not afraid.

Rey called out Undertaker and paused. The Undertaker's bells sounded and the arena went dark as flames erupted near the ramp. Undertaker made his way down the ramp to get in the ring with Mysterio. Mysterio brought up how last time they fought, Mysterio had him on the ropes for the title and there was no fear. Mysterio said this time there will be no Batista or Shawn Michaels. He said he's conquered his nightmares because of his dreams, and will concquer his nightmare of the Undertaker to become World champ once again. Rey promised to defeat Undertaker at the Royal Rumble.

Undertaker said Rey has bold words for a little man, and he seems to have concquered everything in his life, but nobody triumphs over the grave. Undertaker said he admires Rey's gall, but he's digging his own grave in the process. Undertaker said at the Royal Rumble, Rey will suffer the same fate that everyone else has suffered trying to make a name at Taker's expense. Undertaker promised at the Rumble that Rey will "Rest in Peace". He stared right down at Rey and the lights dimmed for Taker's music again as the Deadman exited.

As Undertaker was walking up the ramp, Rey called to him again. Finally, Undertaker stopped and turned around. Rey said he is not like the rest. Just then, The Animal Batista ran into the ring and attacked Mysterio from behind. He hoisted Mysterio up and hit the Batista Bomb. Undertaker started to head back towards the ring staring at Batista. Batista exited the ring and hopped over the crowd barrier to get away. Smackdown ended with Taker's music playing as he walked up the ramp, with Rey down in the ring holding his head. Taker turned to look back before raising one fist in the air as his flames exploded.

Smackdown Recap 01.15.10

Smackdown Recap from Green Bay, WI:

After the opening pyrotechnics, Todd Grisham welcomed fans to "title town USA" for Smackdown. Tonight we find out who becomes #1 Contender for Undertaker's World Heavyweight title, when Rey Mysterio faces Batista in a steel cage match. Also tonight, Matt Striker said the Undertaker delivers a message to the WWE Universe. Chris Jericho's music and pyro went off for the opening contest.

John Morrison vs. Chris Jericho

They showed highlights from Raw when Mike Tyson turned against Jericho and layed him out with a vicious righthanded punch to help D-Generation X defeat Jericho, keeping him off Raw. In the ring on Smackdown, Jericho, with a blown up jaw, gave a speech to the WWE Universe to address his thoughts on it all. Jericho said he's not a broken man and even though DX pulled a fast one, it doesn't mean Jericho will go away. He called Tyson a drunk, mentally-deranged former champion. Jericho said nothing changes the fact that he, Chris Jericho, is the best in the world at what he does. Jericho said he's the baddest man on the planet and the face of Smackdown. Jericho promised to win the Royal Rumble in 2 weeks, then go on to Wrestlemania 26 and win the World Championship for his sixth time. John Morrison's music hit to stop Jericho from speaking anymore, as the former IC champ came to the ring.

During the match, Jericho shoved Morrison then got slapped and clotheslined over the top rope. With Jericho out, Morrison went to the corner for a high risk move. Just then, Drew McIntyre's music hit. McIntyre came out from backstage in a suit carrying his IC belt, then took a seat at ringside to watch the action. At one point, Morrison went for a springboard move off the middle rope, but Jericho shoved him right out of the ring to the floor.

Morrison and Jericho traded offense. In the late stages, Morrison managed to hit a Flying Chuck kick, but couldn't capture the pinfall. He went for Moonlight Drive at one point, but Jericho countered it into Walls of Jericho. Morrison escaped it and got Jericho down near the corner where he attempted Starship Pain. Jericho rolled out of the way so Morrison crashed to the mat. From there Jericho tried for Walls of Jericho again, but Morrison managed to turn it into a pinfall for a 2 count. Jericho finally got Walls of Jericho locked in with Morrison facing towards Drew McIntyre. McIntyre came over and held up the IC title, which fueled Morrison to crawl to grab the bottom rope. Morrison slapped Jericho near the ropes causing him to fall back. The ref checked on Jericho as Morrison turned his attention to McIntyre on the outside. When Morrison went back through the ropes from the apron, Jericho caught him with the Codebreaker. After both men were down for a moment, Jericho rolled over and made the pin.

Winner: Chris Jericho wins via pinfall over John Morrison.

The camera showed the steel cage hanging above the ring as Striker and Grisham hyped up the main event match. Also, coming up next, CM Punk will save a member of the WWE Universe for the second straight week.

CM Punk and Luke Gallows arrived out to the ring. They showed last week's saving of a WWE Universe member which involved them shaving the man's head to shed his past self. Punk welcomed the newest member of the Straightedge Society into the WWE Universe. On tonight's show, Punk did more of the same. Punk asked the fans to be on his side, "one nation under Punk with integrity and sobriety for all". Punk said he remembers how Luke Gallows used to look like most of the comatose WWE fans do, until Punk stepped in and saved him. Gallows took the mic to speak to the WWE Universe about how you don't need drugs or alcohol to live your life, only straight-edge to live your life.

Punk said the Royal Rumble match will be the fans' first step for salvation. Punk said he'll become the 1st ever Straightedge Royal Rumble winner, which will be a big accomplishment for society. Punk said the majority of fans aren't smart enough to be saved, so he has to do it one at a time. Punk looked around the crowd for tonight's lucky individual. Striker noted there were several volunteers in the audience, but Grisham said he didn't think they were volunteering. Punk finally pointed out a guy in the crowd, and Luke Gallows went to help him over the crowd barrier. The man told Punk his name is Trevor. Punk told Trevor he's among friends now, Luke and himself, not the other fans. Punk said the fans represent his friends growing up who wanted him to succumb to peer pressure. Trevor said he was ready to make a pledge.

Punk told Trevor it was time to be reborn. Punk asked him how many drinks he's had this year and Trevor said he's not even sure. Punk said his straightedge society won't tolerate the crowd negatively reinforcing beer and alcohol. Punk asked Trevor if he was ready and Trevor said he accepts Straightedge into his life and is ready. Punk asked Trevor to show his devotion through actions now. The crowd started a "Trevor sucks" chant as Punk used the clippers to shave Trevor's hair off. Striker commented that Trevor was experiencing euphoria now. When Punk was done shaving his head, Trevor seemed "reborn". Punk told him he made a good decision and has shedded a lifetime of addiction and weakness. Punk said that will be no more, as he helped Trevor stand. Punk and Gallows raised Trevor's hands up as the newest member of Straightedge Society.

Fatal Fourway Tag match to determine #1 Contenders

In this match, CM Punk & Luke Gallows competed against The Hart Dynasty, Cryme Tyme and Matt Hardy/Great Khali. The winning team would receive a title shot against D-Generation X.

In the late stages of the match, Gallows and Punk tried to wear down JTG by beating him around the ring. JTG finally gained some steam as he ducked a Punk clothesline and began to take him down. He riled the crowd up, then ran to the corner where he slammed Punk face first to the mat. JTG had the pin but both Gallows and Tyson Kidd came in at once to break it up. They stared each other down but Great Khali came up behind them, put his hands on their throats and shoved both over the top rope. Next, DH Smith and Shad Gaspar grabbed Khali's legs and pushed him over the ropes. Smith tossed Shad out through the ropes, and then Khali yanked Smith out of the ring. Matt Hardy saw it all and jumped off the corner to land on Shad, Smith and Kidd outside.

Meanwhile, back in the ring CM Punk took it to JTG and hoisted him up on his shoulders for GTS. JTG managed to get out of it and Punk went against the ropes. JTG rushed Punk who held himself against the ropes and kicked JTG in the face. Gallows made a blind slap tag to Punk's back. JTG hit a finisher on Punk thinking he had the win. Gallows came in and connected on a big boot kick to JTG's head, followed by his Twelfth Step finisher for the win. New Straightedge Society member Trevor came out from the crowd to the ring to celebrate with Punk/Gallows.

Winners: CM Punk and Luke Gallows win via pinfall to earn the #1 contender spot against DX for the tag titles.

Josh Matthews knocked on Batista's locker room door several times before Batista came out. Matthews asked Batista for comments on Rey Mysterio for tonight's match. Batista said he's done talking about Mysterio. Matthews asked if he's intimidated about the possibility of facing Undertaker for the title at Royal Rumble. Batista told Matthews he's got nothing to say about Taker or Mysterio and warned him to leave or else.

Undertaker made his entrance through the flames and smoke as his theme music played. Tony Chimel introduced the World Heavyweight Champion to the WWE fans. Undertaker said the dawning of a new decade has brought new hopes and dreams to the WWE superstars. Taker said his darkness will continue to dominate and collect souls like he has for the past two decades. Taker said last week Mysterio and Batista felt his presence, getting a warning they'll only get once. He said whoever survives the cage will not survive him at the Royal Rumble. Taker then turned his attention to the upcoming Wrestlemania, mentioning how 17 guys have stepped up and seventeen have been sent down. The Undertaker said only one of those past opponents has shined in defeat, Shawn Michaels. Undertaker said Michaels almost broke the streak, but failed. Taker said he'll come to Raw this coming Monday to personally give his answer to Michaels' challenge. Taker said regardless of his decision, Michaels will "rest in peace".

Todd Grisham reminded fans that tonight, Mysterio and Batista will face off in a Steel Cage to determine the #1 Contender for Taker's title.

Matt Striker noted that WWE.com is chock full of Royal Rumble history, facts and other information for fans to get prepared for the big Pay-Per-View.

Mickie James vs. Beth Phoenix

Grisham and Striker went over highlights of the past few weeks where Beth Phoenix saved Mickie from an attack by Team LayCool. After the save, Beth Phoenix did a GlamSlam on Beth. Last week, Mickie saved Beth Phoenix from Team LayCool's attack, but then kicked Beth down after.

The ref had to keep Beth from attacking before the bell, but once it rang, Beth immediately struck Mickie. Mickie managed to fight back, but Beth caught her kick attempt and knocked her to the mat. Beth started hammering her forearm on Mickie's head, then kicked her in the gut. At one point, Beth did a hip splash on Mickie in the corner.

Mickie went for a comeback, but Beth blocked it and hit a backbreaker on Mickie. Beth continued to dominate as she dropped Mickie throat first on the top rope. She did a running powerslam to the corner, leaving Mickie hung upside down in a Tree of Woe. The ref kept warning Beth to back up, but Beth kept attacking, getting herself disqualified.

Suddenly, Layla and Michelle showed up in the ring behind Beth. Beth turned to face them, then left the ring with Mickie hanging upside down for Team LayCool to beat on. They knocked Mickie out then Layla held her down in the center of the ring to allow Michelle to beat on her. Mickie fought back until Michelle swept her left leg out and kneed her in the face. Michelle finished with the Faithbreaker finisher to slam Mickie face first to the mat.

Winner: Mickie James wins due to disqualification over Beth Phoenix.

Another reminder for tonight's #1 Contender Steel Cage match between Mysterio and Batista.

WWE Smack of the Night showed Dolph Ziggler and Kane's Beat the Clock match 2 weeks ago where Ziggler had Kane down in a sleeper hold as the clock expired. After the bell, Ziggler hit the Zig Zag on Kane. The following week, they fought again with Ziggler locking a sleeper on Kane. The two fell outside the ring. Ziggler kept the hold on until the ref counted til 8, then returned to the ring to beat Kane via countout.

Kane vs. Dolph Ziggler

Kane arrived to the ring first. Backstage, Josh Matthews interviewed Dolph Ziggler about his third encounter with Kane tonight. Ziggler said he brought Kane to his knees, and was close to making him tap out last week. Ziggler said after he beats Kane again tonight, he's rolling right through the Royal Rumble to win and head to Wrestlemania.

Kane came out aggressive early as he hit Ziggler down with an uppercut, then beat on him in the corner. Ziggler crawled to the other corner, where Kane beat on him some more. Kane whipped Ziggler to the ropes then tossed him up in the air to let him fall hard to the mat. As Ziggler stood up he tried to punch Kane, but Kane knocked him back down, then did a dropkick on a seated Ziggler for a near fall. Kane contined to dominate. Ziggler managed to get a foot up as Kane ran at him. From there, he jumped on Kane's back again for the sleeper hold. This time, Kane dumped him out over the ropes to the outside as Smackdown went to break.

Ziggler took control from the outside when he shoved Kane into the ringpost and steel steps outside the ring. Ziggler used a rear chinlock to wear down Kane in the ring. Ziggler had a near fall from there. He began beating on Kane in the corner, until the ref backed him away. Ziggler went back over to do more damage and then dropkicked Kane to the mat for another near fall.

Kane grabbed Ziggler for a chokeslam, but Ziggler grapped the ropes. Ziggler knocked Kane back, but then received a big boot kick and a series of punches to the head. Kane whipped Ziggler to the corner and clotheslined him twice, then did a powerslam. Ziggler barely kicked out of the pin. Kane went to the top rope for a clothesline, but Ziggler got up to hit him. Ziggler went for the Superplex, but Kane knocked him down to the mat. Ziggler rolled away so Kane couldn't hit a move on him. Kane went all the way around the ring to retrieve Ziggler, but as he went back in the ring, Ziggler kicked and dropkicked Kane off the apron.

Ziggler got the sleeperhold locked in outside the ring as he climbed on Kane's back. Kane backed Ziggler into the ringpost twice to break it, then got back in the ring to beat the ref's count. Kane rolled in and Ziggler went for an elbow drop but missed. From there, Kane missed on his clothesline from the top rope allowing Ziggler to hit a take down. Kane finally managed to counter the Zig Zag, then flipped Ziggler to his feet for a Chokeslam.

Winner: Kane wins via pinfall over Dolph Ziggler.

Todd Grisham and Matt Striker returned to talk about John Cena's recent appearance at the Fiesta Bowl. The Fiesta Bowl venue in Phoenix, AZ will also be where Wrestlemania 26 takes place. They spoke about Cena being the most requested Make a Wish celebrity or athlete. Reps from Arizona talked about how great it was to bring Cena out for the Fiesta Bowl.

Backstage, Rey Mysterio put his mask on in the locker room then turned to start walking out to the ring. Maria walked by wishing Rey good luck. Jimmy Wang Yang and Slam Master J both gave Rey low fives. Josh Matthews walked up to interview Rey asking him if going into the cage with The Animal is a nightmare. Rey said he's all about dreams. Tonight won't be a nightmare, it will be a "dream come true" when he wins the cage match.

Back out in the arena, Matthews and Striker hyped the match as the cage began to lower down around the ring for the main event.

Rey Mysterio vs. Batista
Steel Cage match to determine #1 Contender for World Heavyweight title

Rey Mysterio made his entrance to the ring by climbing up the side of the cage, then posing from near the top corners, before descending to the ring. The Animal arrived out next to a chorus of boos from the fans.

Rey used quickness early as he was able to escape Batista and jump onto the cage wall. Mysterio got 3/4 up the wall but Batista yanked him down to the mat. From there, The Animal picked up Rey and rammed him to the corner several times. Rey managed to kick Batista against the ropes early, but Rey realized he couldn't do 619 due to the cage wall. Instead, he ran against the ropes for it and then jumped up off Batista's back to get higher up the wall. Batista was quick to get up and grab Rey in the position for a Powerbomb. Rey escaped from it, but Batista tossed him right into the cage wall then stepped on his head near the ropes.

Batista continued to press his foot against Rey's head against the cage wall. Batista tossed Mysterio into the cage wall again, then continued to taunt Rey before pressing him overhead. Batista launched Mysterio towards the cage wall, but Rey jumped and got up the wall again. Batista climbed up to grab his leg, but Rey kicked him down. Rey turned and did a West Coast Pop on Batista. The Animal responded with a huge boot to level Mysterio. Batista went for a spear, but Rey avoided it causing Batista to hit the cage wall.

Batista eventually smashed Rey face first into the mat, before waiting for him to get up for a Spear takedown. Next up was a Spinebuster followed by Batista doing pushups in the ring, then flexing. Batista began to stomp then gave the thumbs down signal for the finisher. Batista asked the outside ref to open the door, then he hung Rey halfway out through the door to taunt him, before yanking Rey back in. Batista went for Batista Bomb, but Rey held onto the cage to prevent it. Rey kicked Batista away, then got over the side wall. Batista asked for the door to open so he could get out, but Rey kicked the door into Batista's face then dropped to the floor to win.
Winner: Rey Mysterio wins the steel cage match against Batista by escaping the cage.

Grisham and Striker revisited the finish of the match to show that Mysterio smartly kicked the cage door into Batista's head so he could get to the floor first. Batista was enraged in the ring as Smackdown went off the air.

WWE Superstars Recap 01.15.10

Gail Kim & Primo vs. Jillian & Chavo Guerrero

Chavo hit two of his three suplexes on Primo in the closing moments. Primo flipped over Chavo on the third attempt and shoved him to the corner. Chavo came rushing back to take Primo down with a hard clothesline. Chavo had a pinfall but Gail came in to break it up. Jillian went after Gail but was tossed out through the ropes. Chavo cornered Gail, then grabbed her arm. Gail responded by putting a foot against Chavo's neck and then drooping to the mat to stun him. Primo grabbed Chavo for a quick rollup pin to win it.

Winners: Gail Kim & Primo win via pinfall over Jillian & Chavo Guerrero

Later on Superstars, ECW champ Christian battles William Regal in a non-title match.

Chris Masters vs. Carlito

As the match got underway, Carlito spit apple chunks into Masters' face which obviously didn't sit well with the Masterpiece. As the match went on, Eve watched from ringside as Carlito used submission holds to try to wear Masters down.  Michael Cole discussed how both guys want to be in the 2010 Royal Rumble.  Late in the match, Carlito ran at Masters in the corner. Masters moved away and Carlito landed groin first on the middle ropes.  From there, Masters grabbed Carlito from behind with the Masterlock.  He pulled Carlito to center ring where eventually Carlito passed out causing the ref to call for the bell. Eve joined Masters in the ting to celebrate.

Winner: Chris Masters wins via submission over Carlito.

Ask the divas was next with the questions "What is the most unattractive quality a man can have?" and "If you like someone but your parents didn't approve what would you do?". Divas featured were Gail Kim, Eve Torres, Katie Lea, and Alicia Fox.

Superstars returned with a Smackdown match as Todd Grisham and Matt Striker were now on hand for commentary.  They talked about Friday's Smackdown which will feature Rey Mysterio vs Batista in a steel cage match.

Jimmy Wang Yang & Slam Master J vs. Charlie Haas & Mike Knox

Knox and Haas target Slam Master J by trying to keep him away from the tag.  He finally hit a backdrop on Haas after Haas tried to hit Yang on the apron. Yang came in on fire, running around with high intensity moves. He had a pin on Haas but Knox came in to break it up. J came in to help and with Yang did a double dropkivk to knock Knox out of the ring. From there, J leapt over the top rope to land on Knox outside. Yang was able to hit a moonsault off the top rope onto Haas to get the win.

Winners:  Jimmy Wang Yang & Slam Master J win via pinfall over Mike Knox & Charlie Haas.

Still to come, Christian and William Regal face off in an ECW match.

WWE Superstars returned with Josh Matthews of ECW thanking FOxxy for the 2010 Royal Rumble theme song, "Martyr No More" by Fozzy, now available on iTunes.

Raw Rebound was next. It highlighted this past Monday's show featuring Mike Tyson as guest host. Tyson was in the main event tag match as Chris Jericho's partner against D-Generation X. If Jericho & Tyson won, Jericho got to stay on Raw, forever. It seemed Tyson was ready to take out DX early on, but in the end of the match, after a distracting ring entrance by Hornswoggle in boxing gear, Tyson tore off his black T-shirt to reveal a DX shirt. Jericho turned around to see Tyson's changed clothing, and then received a hard righthand punch to the face from the former boxing champ. DX took the winning pin. To close out Raw, Mike Tyson, his son, Hornswoggle, Shawn Michaels and Triple H did the customary DX chop shot as their pyrotechnics exploded from the ring in "X" formation.

Christian vs. William Regal

Byron Saxton and Josh Matthews provided commentary for their main event match on Superstars. In two weeks or so, Christian will defend his ECW title against Regal's henchman, Ezekiel Jackson. Tonight, Christian looked to prepare against Regal with Ezekiel Jackson at ringside.

The match returned after a commercial break, and a promo video showcasing the #1 Contender for Christian's ECW Championship, Ezekiel Jackson. Christian gained momentum after Regal seemed to be dominating things. Regal whipped Christian to the ropes and ducked down, only to have the ECW Champ kick him. From there, Christian countered another Regal move and went for a bridge pin. Regal kicked out, then Christian noticed Jackson get up on the apron so he rushed over to dropkick him off. Regal went for a clothesline, but Christian ducked it and went for a rollup pin. Regal again kicked out, and again Jackson got up on the apron to distract Christian. The ref warned Jackson to get down then finally ordered him to leave the ringside area. Christian smirked while Regal went crazy. Superstars took a break, which featured a CM Punk Straightedge Superstars promo ad.

When Superstars returned, Christian had control of things, taking Regal down to the mat, then trying to whip him to the corner. Regal came back from it to knock Christian down, but Christian battled him in the corner. Christian sat up on the corner where Regal went at him, eventually shoving Christian off. Christian fell onto the side apron and to the floor hard. He rolled into the ring to beat the count, where Regal stayed in control.

Christian ended up sitting on the corner again, but this time he was able to shove Regal off and hit a high cross body for the near fall. He started to rev up his peeps to help give him momentum, then punched away on Regal. Christian ended up getting knocked over the ropes, but landed on the apron on his feet. He rammed into Regal's gut as Regal came at him, then ran Regal's head into the side ringpost. Christian hit the missile dropkick followed by another near fall. Christian went for a headbutt off the corner, but Regal moved away. Regal stood Christian up for several shots to the back of the head. Christian countered a move for a near Killswitch, with Regal doing an impressive counter to slam Christian for a near fall. After another near fall, Regal set up for the Knee Trembler. He missed on it, and Christian got momentum back. Christian with a Sunset Flip from the corner but Regal sat on Christian for a pin using the ropes for leverage. The ref saw it and stopped Regal's pin count.

Regal argued with the ref, and Christian tried for another Killswitch with Regal turning it into a Regal stretch submission hold. Christian elbowed his way out of it but was knocked back down by Regal. Regal went for a modified Pedigree type move, but Christian countered and finally hit the Killswitch to win it.

Winner: Christian wins via pinfall over William Regal.

Christian posed around the ring holding up his ECW Championship belt as Superstars went off the air.

Raw Revelations: The Divas Debacle

You could tell that Nancy O'Dell and Maria Menounos are used to crazy antics, interviews with celebrities and even a bit of acting as they were part of the latest Raw celebrity guest hosting gigs. Monday night's show was done well with them, including probably the best in-ring performance of a guest host since Shaq, with Maria Menounos looking like she could join the divas and be a competitor. She had some nice hair tosses with Alicia Fox, as well as a Sunset Flip, and played a part in her diva team's win when she yanked Rosa Mendes down against the top rope. You've gotta give her credit for getting in there and risking injury like she did with some of those moves. Nancy O'Dell was a fearless hostess as well, and played a good part in the show with several of her backstage encounters. Maria also was part of an interview segment with Legacy, and she actually was one of the better backstage interviewers, thanks to her job experience.

Speaking of divas, the whole Divas Championship and trade scenario was bizarre. It started with an unexplained title match with Jillian Hall as challenger. It's understandable that champions give impromptu title matches, but in the past weeks and month's, they had all sorts of diva matches to earn that spot. Alicia Fox had a shot at the last PPV, and then Jillian Hall gets one immediately, out of nowhere. Apparently she had some big house show wins. To top that off, her win was one of the shortest title reigns in WWE history, because Nancy O'Dell had made a divas trade during the weekend which brought Melina to Raw....and guess what, she got an immediate title shot. Question, why not just allow Melina to challenge Mickie? I realize they're both face divas, but John Morrison did defeat Rey Mysterio in a friendly match for the IC title on Smackdown...

The divas trade is another strange thing. Eve Torres was a regular with Cryme Tyme on Smackdown, but now comes over to Raw. Maybe she'll manage MVP or Primo? Smackdown probably benefited most from the move which brings two of Raw's best divas to its show in Mickie James and Beth Phoenix. ECW gains Rosa Mendes who had been on the losing end of several Raw bouts. Oh and the Bella Twins (ECW) are officially back on Raw...In case you didn't see them in segments with Cedric the Entertainer, Al Sharpton and as Barker's beauties...on Raw.

But enough about the divas, what was up with the DX segments featuring Shawn Michaels by cell phone? Sure it was unique, but hard to hear what Michaels was saying at some moments. You can only imagine how the live audience felt because a crackling cell phone call must be tough to distinguish live. Shawn Michaels explained his reason for not being there as due to his daughter being sick, and that's most likely true. If nothing else it proved HBK is the family man he claims to be.

We found out most of the Raw side of the teams for Bragging Rights. Originally it seemed as if they were going to have the winners from the PPV matches in the tag match, but maybe it was just explained bad by Michael Cole to start with. They held five qualifying matches on Raw for the team spots. One interesting match saw Big Show go up against his partner Chris Jericho, and defeat him by countout. Could there be trouble in paradise for those two leading to a rift soon? Triple H & Shawn Michaels head up a team that features Big Show, Cody Rhodes, Kofi Kingston and Jack Swagger. The final participant is probably Mark Henry, unless Chris Masters beats him on WWE Superstars. Team Smackdown so far is just Chris Jericho, with his team probably being formed on Friday's show.

Another bit of dissension in the ranks seemed to come from Legacy. They were part of a Triple Threat match along with John Cena. When Randy Orton came to ringside, it caused a distraction to both Cena and Dibiase, allowing Cody Rhodes to pin his partner for the victory. Dibiase was not too happy with it, so Orton had to try to make peace. Later in the night, Legacy was forced to take on the team of Cena & Orton. Legacy pulled off the win by pinning Orton. Is this a sign of possible break up between the Legacy team? Should Orton lose at Bragging Rights we just might see Legacy implode, and Dibiase/Rhodes begin a face turn.

Next week is being billed as what could be John Cena's final Raw. Orton said he made a call to Snoop Dogg (didn't know they were pals), and they agreed Cena should face HHH in his final match on the show. If HHH comes away with a win then expect him to be the #1 Competitor for John Cena (or Orton) when he comes to Raw as WWE champ after Bragging Rights. After HHH, there's really just Shawn Michaels and probably Jack Swagger.

I'm going to venture a guess that Sheamus makes his way to Raw or Smackdown soon. Of course he may get into the ECW title picture first, but he seems like the type of bigger contender they need on the primetime shows. Sometimes you have to wonder what WWE really gains from holding these talents away from Raw or Smackdown. Jack Swagger had a nice run on ECW before he was brought to Raw, but maybe he would have been able to form a bigger heel presence if he started on Raw/Smackdown.

The Miz and John Morrison will face off at Bragging Rights in a champion vs champion non-title bout. It's funny but not too long ago on ECW, John Morrison made comments about Miz never amounting to much more in his career. Not long after, Miz beat Kofi Kingston for the US Title on Raw. I'm expecting Morrison takes this match at Bragging Rights just for talent's sake, but it's a good little inter-brand feud match.

So next week rapper Snoop Dogg, another huge WWE fan will host Raw. It'll be interesting to see if Snoop puts himself into the ring like Shaq, Seth Green, Maria Menounos and Cedric the Entertainer have for matches. Snoop was involved in a previous Wrestlemania encounter along with Santino Marella, so he's no stranger to being in the ring.

WWE Divas Trade Details

As announced on the 10/12/09 episode of WWE Raw, there has been a trade orchestrated involving the WWE divas from Raw, ECW & Smackdown. Two names already were revealed on Raw, as Melina returned to the show to win the WWE Divas Title from the shortest reigning champ ever, Jillian, who had just won the title from Mickie James. The other known traded superstar is Beth Phoenix, who will now head over to Smackdown.

The seven diva trade was arranged by the latest guest host of Raw, Nancy O'Dell from Access Hollywood. She reportedly met with Smackdown GM Teddy Long and ECW GM Tiffany this past weekend to work the trade out. Here's the rest of the trade details:

Mickie James traded from Raw to SmackDown
Rosa Mendes traded from Raw to ECW
Brie & Nikki Bella traded from ECW to Raw
Eve traded from SmackDown to Raw

Quite a coincidence that Mickie was traded to Smackdown, before she loses the title to Jillian Hall, who then instantly loses to new Raw acquisition Melina. Smackdown's a new scene though for Mickie who has yet to be a member of its roster. It appears she'll be thrust into the WWE Women's title picture on Smackdown to begin a new feud with Michelle McCool and Beth Phoenix. It's going to be interesting to see the role Rosa Mendes is given on ECW. The only other divas on the show really are Katie Lea Burchill, also a heel, and then General Manager Tiffany. Raw gains the Bella Twins, although they've been seen in numerous segments over the past few months with various guest hosts and last week's Diva bowl. Raw also gains the 2007 WWE Diva Search winner, Eve Torres who was a supporting member and ringside manager for Cryme Tyme.

Raw Recap 09.28.09

Raw Recap from Albany, NY:

Michael Cole welcomed fans to Raw just six days before WWE's Hell in a Cell PPV event. Cole and Lawler reminded fans of the 3-on-1 Gauntlet match scheduled for John Cena tonight where he faces Jericho, Big Show and Randy Orton. MVP and Mark Henry were in the ring to open the show with the VIP Lounge.

MVP prepared to introduce the special guest host for tonight's show but was abruptly interrupted by Chris Jericho and Big Show who arrived out with their unified tag title belts. The tag champs defend against Rey Mysterio & Batista at Hell in a Cell Sunday. Jericho criticized MVP for not giving Al Sharpton a proper introduction, and told him how he'd describe Sharpton as the man just like him who says whatever's on his mind. MVP cut off Jericho and tried to introduce Sharpton, with Jericho quickly introducing him first.

Sharpton arrived down to the ring to shake hands with everyone in the ring. Sharpton started to speak about his latest rally to try to spur on education along with Newt Gingrich and other politicians. He also noted it was a tough crowd there in Albany, but he'll be facing a lot of tough crowds wherever he goes. MVP suggested that Sharpton give he and Mark Henry a shot at the tag titles. Jericho started to say they can't compete because he and Show are part of the Gauntlet match later. Sharpton asked for the people's opinion and the fans cheered in support of having the tag titles match, despite Jericho telling Sharpton he shouldn't listen to the fans. Sharpton said the title match would be next.

MVP & Mark Henry vs. Chris Jericho & Big Show
Unified Tag Team Title Match

Late in the match, MVP managed to escape Chris Jericho to tag in Mark Henry. Henry began to go wild and ran over to knock Show off the apron. Next he pressed Jericho overhead and tossed him out of the ring at Show. After a commercial break, Raw returned with Henry in control as Jericho collapsed from the corner to the mat. Henry got just a 2 count and continue his momentum. He knocked Jericho down again, with Big Show making the blind tag to Jericho's shoulder at the ropes. Show came in to quickly spear down Henry and then elbow dropped him several times.

At one point the ref became distracted talking to MVP, while Jericho got in cheap shots on Henry in the corner. Show leveled Henry yet again for another near fall. Show continued to dominate using a DDT to take down Henry for another fall. Jericho tagged in to go to work on Henry, kicking away at him. Jericho went for a sleeper hold which brought Henry down to one knee. Henry backed him into the corner, but Jericho hit the drop toe hold to trip Henry into the bottom turnbuckle.

Show came back in to try to dominate but he and Henry wound up double clotheslining each other. Henry and Show both crawled over to make tags, with MVP coming in with the momentum. MVP with a near fall after knocking Jericho down. MVP with the Ballin' Elbow drop, but again only a 2 count. Big Show came into the ring and clubbed MVP down with the ref yelling at him. Henry came in next and threw himself into Show, knocking Show out through the ropes. Jericho then dropkicked Henry from behind sending him outside also. MVP tried for the quick rollup pin to steal the win, but again Jericho escaped. MVP had yet another near fall. He got up and ran against the side ropes, but as the ref's view was obstructed, Show punched MVP hard in the back. Jericho caught MVP in the Codebreaker to win it.

Winners: Chris Jericho & Big Show win via pinfall over Mark Henry & MVP to retain the Unified Tag Team Titles.

Primo was shown backstage thanking Reverend Al Sharpton for being a true inspiration to all minorities. Just then, Hornswoggle burst into the office running around frantically and making scared noises. Sharpton yelled at him to stop, just as Chavo Guerrero appeared and started to chase Horney around the desk. Sharpton told them to hold it and asked what was going on. Chavo introduced his tag partner for the night Chris Masters. Santino showed up to say he's Hornswoggle's partner, and called Masters & Chavo the Geico cavemen. Santino thought that Al Sharpton was Don King, then next said he loved his work in the original Shaft. Finally, Sharpton yelled for everyone to get out so he could finish his education lesson. Primo returned and welcomed Sharpton to the craziness that is Monday Night Raw.

Cole and Lawler reviewed how the whole John Cena 3-on-1 Gauntlet match came about after last week's six man tag match loss by Cena, Henry & MVP.

Josh Matthews talked to Randy Orton backstage. Orton said Cena doesn't stand a chance to survive tonight's slaughter. Orton said on Sunday Cena will lose more than just the title. Orton said Cena's struggle to compete and survive will come to an end Sunday.

WWE Diva Rosa Mendes was walking backstage with Alicia Fox. Jerry Lawler said it looks like Alicia has some advice for Rosa for her match against Mickie James next.

A promo piece was shown regarding the educational reform efforts by Al Sharpton and Newt Gingrich. More information about the Education Reform Tour at nationalactionnetwork.net

Mickie James vs. Rosa Mendes

Alicia Fox accompanied Rosa Mendes to the ring. Last week Alicia attacked Mickie post-match after Mickie had just been defeated by Beth Phoenix. Mickie and Alicia will fight at this Sunday's Hell in a Cell over the Divas title.

Early on Rosa was taken down by Mickie, but Rosa turned it into a headscissors on Mickie's head. Mickie escaped to take her down with the armbar, There were some botched moves in the corner area, but Mickie recovered and was ready to do her DDT style finisher. Alicia Fox yelled to her from ringside to distract her. Rosa went for a clothesline, with Mickie ducking it and hitting a neckbreaker. Rosa gained control as she kicked Mickie when she ducked down for a backdrop. From there Rosa used kicks to the back of Mickie and stretched her arms back to wear her down. Mickie escaped by throwing Rosa with her arms, but Rosa threw her to the corner and began ramming her. Mickie elbowed and kicked back at her.

Mickie with a headscissors to throw Rosa from the corner area, then a series of takedowns. Mickie tackled Rosa down to try to punch away, but it was shortlived. Alicia Fox jumped on the side apron, so Mickie went over and grabbed her by the hair. Rosa tried to run at her, but Mickie let go of Alicia and moved causing Rosa to hit the middle ropes with her crotch. As Rosa staggered to her feet, Mickie delivered a roundhouse kick to her head to knock her out.

Mickie posed with her championship belt from the corner as Alicia glared at her from ringside.

Winner: Mickie James wins via pinfall over Rosa Mendes.

Legacy was shown walking backstage on their way to the ring for the next match.

Jerry Lawler thanked Skillet for their theme song "Monster" for 2009 Hell in a Cell. Cole noted the Steel cage hanging above the ring tonight, similar to what we'll see at Sunday's PPV. It's got 5 tons of steel, and 2,700 feet of chain link is involved in the structure.

Legacy arrived to the ring. Rhodes and Dibiase cut a promo regarding their match for Sunday against DX. Dibiase said they're primed for the single greatest victory in their careers this Sunday, based on their previous work. They rolled footage of them attacking DX on Raw weeks ago, and then their big win in the Submission match at Breaking Point. Rhodes discussed Michaels and HHH being the biggest stars in Raw history, with HHH as a sure fire first ballot Hall of Famer. Rhodes said after Sunday, HHH can go sit at his desk in WWE HQ with the rest of his family for his new career in the WWE office. Rhodes mentioned Shawn Michaels being legendary for coming back from a broken back to wrestle again. Rhodes said they'll make history by standing over a broken Shawn Michaels at Sunday's PPV.

As Rhodes continued to speak he was suddenly interrupted by Shawn Michaels yelling out "BOOOORING!" Legacy looked around but couldn't see DX anywhere. Michaels yelled Boring again. Triple H started to speak saying this wasn't half bad, and Michaels said "it's all bad". DX was shown up in a box seat area behind the crowd. Legacy said DX is just making jokes to take the sting out of the beating they got recently. Shawn Michaels reminded HHH to keep his comments PG, so HHH told Legacy they're like butts, the center part, not the cheeks. HHH compared DX to the Incredible Hulk, because when they're joking around their monster side is at bay, but when they get angry, the monster comes out. HHH said why wait until Sunday, so he and Michaels made their way down the stairs through the crowd, then down the ramp to the ring. Rhodes and Dibiase quickly escaped out of the ring and into the crowd. Michaels said it was a shock after all the talk, Legacy is running away. HHH said this Sunday there will be no running or hiding, and DX won't be joking around.

Evan Bourne vs. Jack Swagger

Swagger came out with the stolen United States title belt around his waist. Cole and Lawler showed footage of how Swagger stole the belt during his match with Kofi last week. Miz was trying to steal the belt but Swagger chased him up the ramp to take the belt, and then left with it, losing his match by countout. Swagger, Miz and Kofi will battle in a Triple Threat at Hell in Cell.

Swagger manhandled Bourne early on as he grabbed him for a backbreaker over his knee. Swagger pulled Bourne's leg back on the mat to wear him down, before kicking Bourne to the outside. Bourne was able to land a Pele kick outside as Swagger tried to grab him through the ropes. Bourne came in to try to muster up momentum with quick kicks. At one point, Swagger grabbed him to attempt the Gutwrench Powerbomb, but Bourne was able to use his weight to get onto the corner. Bourne jumped onto Swagger with both knees to take him down for a near fall. Bourne continued to be in control as he went for a headscissors move, but Swagger blocked it and turned it into a Powerbomb to win the match.

Swagger got on the mic after his win to brag about his looks and talent. Jack Swagger said on Sunday he'll officially become the All American American US Champion. Just then, The Miz came out from backstage to interrupt him. Miz began to brag about how he's made a huge impact since his arrival to Raw. Miz said they all know Miz is the next US Champion. Miz kept taunting Swagger until he finally turned and kicked Miz. The two started brawling on the mat. As they kept fighting in the ring, Kofi Kingston came down to the ring unnoticed and took back his US title. Kofi's music hit and Miz/Swagger stopped fighting to see him at the top of the ramp holding up the belt.

Winner: Jack Swagger wins via pinfall over Evan Bourne.

Hornswoggle & Santino Marella vs. Chris Masters & Chavo Guerrero

Cole and Lawler replayed the footage from last week's Chavo vs. Cedric the Entertainer match. Santino Marella was guest ref and Hornswoggle made a surprise appearance to help Cedric win it.

Chavo was in control of things as he took it to Santino. He tried to smash him face first to the corner turnbuckle with Santino blocking it and smashing Chavo instead. From there, Santino wound up his fist to punch Chavo, then did a breakdancing split to avoid a clothesline. Chavo went against the ropes and Masters slapped his back for the tag. Santino had his back to Masters and was put into the Masterlock. Santino tried to muster up strength to break out, but soon passed out so the ref called for the bell. Hornswoggle looked like he wanted to tag in but couldn't,

After the win, Masters grabbed Hornswoggle and pulled him into the ring. Chavo watched with a wicked smile as Masters threw a half Nelson Masterlock on Hornswoggle. Chavo watched for a while, then changed his tune as he got into the ring walked over and clocked Masters to break the hold. Chavo shook his head at himself wondering why he just saved Hornswoggle. Chavo walked up the ramp with Masters staring up at him angrily from the ring.

Winners: Chris Masters & Chavo Guerrero win due to submission over Santino Marella & Hornswoggle.

Backstage, Jericho, Big Show and Randy Orton discussed strategy for tonight's Gauntlet match.

Video highlights of Raw's European tour was shown with Santino Marella and John Cena giving their comments on it.

Michael Cole announced that next week's guest host is 2-time Superbowl winner, Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger. Jerry Lawler said he'll be bringing backup, his entire offensive line. Cole and Lawler were in ring where they discussed Sunday's Hell in a Cell matches. The matches include Undertaker vs CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Title, John Cena vs Randy Orton and DX vs Legacy in Hell in a Cell.

Al Sharpton was backstage trying to thank everybody for tonight's show, when Jillian Hall came into the room. She mentioned he used to be tour manager for soul singer James Brown. Jillian said she's just as good a singer if not better and asked Sharpton to be her tour manager. Jillian started to sing "Livin' in America" with Sharpton giving her a weird look. Sharpton stopped her from any more torture and told her good luck. Jillian left, but then the Bella Twins came in and suggested that Al's the godson of James Brown so he can sing and dance. They begged him to show his stuff. Sharpton promised if they can get the dropout rate down while on his tour, he'll go back to Washington DC with no backup dancers or singers and do his "I'll Feel Good" routine. Sharpton launched into a small preview of his song and dance, then said good night to all the fans.

John Cena was shown backstage contemplating his upcoming Gauntlet match, then heading to the ring.

John Cena vs. Chris Jericho
Gauntlet Match #1

During the match, Cena hoisted up Jericho for Attitude Adjustment with Jericho sliding off then taking control. Jericho catapulted Cena into the bottom rope, then tried to charge at him in the corner. Cena moved away, causing Jericho to hit shoulder first. Cena was able to throw several shoulder blocks into Jerich to take him down, hit the Five Knuckle Shuffle, then tried for Attitude Adjustment. Jericho slipped out and was able to turn into Walls of Jericho. Cena crawled over to grab the bottom rope. The ref demanded that Jericho break the hold but he refused, so the ref finally disqualified him. Jericho still refused to break the hold with Cena in excruciating pain. Big Show's music hit with Jericho still keeping the hold locked in. Jericho finally released the hold to leave Cena down on the mat for Show.

Winner: John Cena wins due to disqualification of Chris Jericho.

John Cena vs. Big Show
Gauntlet Match #2

Cena was still down on the mat, but the ref called for the bell to start things. Show placed Cena in the corner for a rough punch to the back. Show continued to punch away on the champ as Raw went to a break.

Raw returned with Show still manhandling Cena in the corner. He rammed Cena into the corner and squeezed against him, until Cena fell to the mat. Show followed with a vicious Bear hug. Cena escaped it and then was able to put Show up on his shoulders for an attempt at Attitude Adjustment. Jericho rused into the ring and attacked Cena causing Show to topple down on him. Another DQ gave Cena his second victory. Jericho kept attacking Cena and Show got down to put his submission hold on Cena.

Winner: John Cena wins due to disqualification over Big Show.

John Cena vs. Randy Orton
Gauntlet Match #3

Randy Orton came out soon after Cena was layed out on the mat by Show and Jericho. Orton took his time walking to the ramp staring at his prey. As Orton got into the ring, Cena pulled himself to his feet. Orton walked over to Cena, and Cena stared him in the eyes then pointed at the cage hanging above them. The cage began to lower around the ring. Orton looked to escape the ring but Cena grabbed him for a takedown to the mat. Cena kept holding Orton down to prevent his escape from the ring.

Orton finally kicked Cena away and rolled to the outside but was too late as the cage was down. The door was still open behind Cena, so Orton tried to go around the side of the ring to get to it. Cena slid outside and blocked his path. Orton tried to punch Cena to escape, but Cena got the better of him. The two men ended up fighting outside the cage, with Orton escaping and scaling the cage. Cena started to give chase climbing up after him. Orton made it to the top, and Cena arrived soon after. Cena and Orton had a short battle on the top of the cell with Cena gaining the advantage, to grab Orton and hit the Attitude Adjustment up on the cage. No winner in the final round of the Gauntlet.

Winner: No winner/no contest in the final round of Cena's Gauntlet run.

Raw Revelations: Orton breaks in Freddie Prinze Jr.

Last night on Raw, guest host Freddie Prinze Jr. received his official induction ceremony to the WWE Universe. The self-professed wrestling fan for years got to do his dream job of calling the shots on Raw for a night, while getting some indirect "24" promo's in as well. Unfortunately for Prinze, Randy Orton decided to spoil the fun as he came to the ring for one of his usual bullying jobs trying to remove himself as Cena's tag team partner. Prinze stood up to the Viper though, but it only resulted in Orton grabbing him and nearly snapping him in half across his back. Prinze was helped out of the ring by medical staff for his back and neck injuries, which didn't seem to require a brace or stretcher. Prinze was back later in the show to make sure Orton got his. Prinze made the main event tag match where Orton teamed with Cena, a Lumberjack match. He hand picked the jacks including guys like MVP, Kofi Kingston and Mark Henry. Prinze did a good job riling up the crowd and acting, and again you'll notice how WWE sort of toned down this guest host's interaction quite a bit from past shows (Piven, Seth Green). If anything, Prinze did a good job selling the fact he'll be on a show like "24" where Kiefer Sutherland recovers from just about anything.

I thought the Mickie James-Gail Kim Divas Championship match had one of the strangest finishes I've seen. Just the look on Mickie's face seemed to be one of either concern, frustration or bewilderment. The two traded momentum and all sorts of fast paced action, and in the final moments, Gail Kim blocked Mickie's finisher. Mickie still took Gail down to the mat in a hold. As Gail staggered up to her feet, she avoided a kick by Mickie James, so Mickie simply walked up to her and hit her in the face with a forearm to win it. It was extremely odd and makes you wonder if Gail got hurt and somehow let Mickie know. Nonetheless, Mickie and Gail raised each others arms at the end of the fight.

It's great that The Miz is getting a push for the United States Championship. He called out Kofi Kingston last night, letting him know what he's after. Shortly after that he was able to defeat high flyer Evan Bourne for a big "comeback" to Raw win. I think Miz will capture the US Title, probably after some trickery or underhanded tactics to win against Kofi. Speaking of Kofi, great match between he and Carlito last night. Also, good idea to put Rosa Mendes in Carlito's corner. Last night, Cole and Lawler were saying the list of US Champions is only a dozen or so guys, and maybe Carlito will add his name. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Carlito was a US champ already. I'm pretty sure Carlito won the US title back on Smackdown, by defeating John Cena. It happened right after Carlito's debut on the show and in WWE.

While I'm not a fan of the DX reunion, last night's scenario was set up well. Got a good chuckle out of HHH "canning" Jillian Hall's screeching by just putting a trash can full of trash on top of her. In the ring, DX did a lot of waiting around due to the crowd excitement before they started speaking. From there, they started up the DX lines in the ring, but it was cut short as Legacy attacked. A great way to set up Summerslam, making it look like Legacy has the upperhand, when we all know exactly who's winning that match.

While the Hornswoggle-Chavo thing's getting older each week, the Macaulay Culkin appearance and Home Alone stunt was a surprise.

In the main event, Orton and Cena sort of co-existed, despite Orton refusing to tag in, and then attacking Cena after the match. They defeated Show and Jericho in a non-title matchup, with face Lumberjacks surrounding the ring. Cena managed to win the match with an Attitude Adjustment on Jericho, but after the bell Orton snuck in to RKO him. Nice touch before Summerslam, but I kept thinking Freddie Prinze, Jr. might sneak out from backstage and bring Orton back to the ring for Cena. Wishful thinking, and they don't want Orton looking weak compared with a TV actor before a major PPV.

Next week we'll see Floyd "Money" Mayweather return to the scene when he guest hosts Raw in Vegas, following Summerslam. He's got a history with Big Show, so we just may see those two tangle again.

Raw Preview 07.27.09

Tonight's episode of WWE Raw comes one night after last night's big Pay-Per-View (Night of Champions results). Not only that, but it will have its biggest guest host to date, when the NBA All-Star center, Shaquille O'Neal stops by to run the show! Shaq will be large and in charge, ready to make all sorts of crazy decisions. He's no stranger to the WWE world either, as he's been seen in the crowd clowning around at Raw and other events before. He was even involved in a backstage altercation with Carlito during one event. What sorts of surprises will Shaq have in store for the WWE Universe when he fills in as the special guest host?

Last night's Night of Champions PPV featured a Triple Threat match to decide the WWE Title. Involved in this re-match from Wrestlemania 2 years ago were Triple H, John Cena and Champion Randy Orton. Orton fell victim to a double submission hold in the match, with HHH putting a sharpshooter on him and Cena locking in the STF as well. Orton clearly tapped out, but a confused referee didn't call for the bell. From there, Legacy saved Orton, who eventually was able to hit the RKO on John Cena for the win. Orton will retain his title as Raw opens, but will the decision be reviewed? What will HHH and Cena have to say about the outcome of last night's match?

Kofi Kingston successfully defended his US Title in a battle with 5 other Raw superstars. Jack Swagger, MVP, The Miz, Carlito and Primo all tangled for the right to wear the United States belt. In the end, Kofi hit Trouble in Paradise on Carlito to collect the win. Missing from the match was Big Show, who joined Chris Jericho earlier in the night to defend the Unified Tag Team Titles. Since Jericho is part of Smackdown, and Show is on Raw, what will this mean for Big Show's spot on the Raw roster?

The sole new championship winner from Raw at Night of Champions was WWE Diva Mickie James. Mickie successfully was able to prevent Maryse from using her spray can on her, and eventually hit a DDT to plant Maryse into the mat. Mickie now becomes the second ever diva to have won both the Womens title and Divas championship. Will Maryse invoke her rematch clause on Raw tonight? Or will Mickie have a new challenger to worry about?

Catch all the action of WWE Raw tonight at 9PM EST on USA!

Raw: Y2J Saves the Show

Last night's Raw included more mayhem to continue feuds and title contention into the Backlash PPV. Mickie James pulled off a big upset win, Chris Jericho was made a special referee, Randy Orton beat Regal in his homeland, John Cena was a no-show, and we received news on next week's 3 hour show. Most impressive match of the night was easily the Intercontinental title defense by Y2J.

The Chris Jericho Umaga IC title fight on Raw Monday night had the intensity and feel of a PPV match, so it's surprising they didn't add it to the Backlash card. It's how more matches should be done on the WWE TV shows. Jericho did an impressive job of convincing fans that he was giving it all he had and outsmarting his opponent to keep the belt around his waist. He definitely has the ability to become a top notch WWE or World Heavyweight champ as Jim Ross pointed out in a recent blog. Either way, last night's performance definitely showed Jericho's abilities to tell a great story in the ring.

The other title match of the night saw Mickie James surprise pin Beth Phoenix to take the Women's Title back. It's highly doubtful that Mickie can continue that sort of thing against a dominant diva like the Glamazon Beth Phoenix. Carlito & Santino are now #1 contenders for the WWE tag titles. Expect to see them use some sort of antics to pull off a win against Rhodes and Holly for the belts, maybe at Backlash.

Other great news came on Raw that next week's 3 hour Raw will actually be the King of the Ring tournament. Superstars from Smackdown, Raw & ECW all compete for the title of "King". As fans know the last wrestler to be crowned King was Booker who has since left with Sharmelle for TNA. After watching Raw last night, Paul Burchhill seems to fit the role of King despite the fact he is so now. Many of the past Kings also had a Queen along with them. It would work perfectly for Burchhill with his sister in the strange sort of relationship they display. Another logical choice would be Edge who could further make his romance with Vickie Guerrero disgust fans and wrestlers more. It's tough to really make a pick for the winner of this tournament as the competitors are yet to be announced, but it will definitely be an interesting and entertaining night.

WWE Raw Preview 11.19.07

Tonight's Raw will feature aftermath and fallout from last night's Survivor Series Pay-Per-View. The event saw Randy Orton successfully defend his WWE Title against Shawn Michaels. It also saw 2 of Raw's brightest and biggest stars, Jeff Hardy and HHH as the sole survivors in a traditional elimination match. In addition to all of this, WWE.com has announced that tonight the meaning of the mysterious videos with encrypted codes will finally be revealed to WWE fans on Raw.

At Survivor Series, Randy Orton was able to successfully beat Shawn Michaels using no disqualifications or tricks. Instead, Orton waited for Shawn Michaels to hold off on the Superkick, then he delivered the RKO. Will Michaels be back to challenge Orton yet again? Or will tonight see a new contender throw their name into the mix?

Last night's event also saw Jeff Hardy make a pin on Umaga after a Triple H Pedigree. The two Raw superstars were sole survivors in the match. The tag team champs from Raw, successfully defended against Cody Rhodes and Hardcore Holly. There was also the 10 diva tag team match involving several WWE Raw divas. Raw diva Mickie James made the winning pin over her rival Melina. Will Mickie be the new challenger for the Women's title now? Also what will be the next challenge for Hornswoggle who was scared underneath the ring by The Great Khali at Survivor Series?

Finally there is the impending arrival of Y2J. For weeks mysterious promotional ads have run during WWE programming, indicating there would be an event on 11/19. Raw should see the return of Chris Jericho, and should make for an exciting moment for WWE fans! Read more about it and watch videos of "SAVE_US.222" at WWE.com.

Raw hits the air at 9PM EST on the USA Cable Channel!

Cyber Sunday Thoughts

Cyber Sunday is one of the cooler Pay Per View formats there is for WWE, in that the fans get to decide the matches. However, it seems like the WWE set up at least a few of these contests to "fool the fans". The biggest example would be the Michaels vote, as it would be tough to see him losing the popularity contest. Now if Triple H had been in the mix, it would be a different story. HBK won the match over WWE champ, Randy Orton, but didn't claim the title, which was a theme throughout the event.

Stone Cold Steve Austin also rocked the Vote, and the ring, when he stunned both Mick Foley and JBL prior to the match. I'm a fan of Stone Cold, his personality and in-ring antics, and he's always good for a few stunners here or there. Amazingly, he has yet to stun Santino Marella, but you know it's coming. It's good to see Austin involved in PPV's still and he had the highest vote percentage of anyone on the card, showing how powerful a star he is still.

The Diva Halloween costume had some creative costumes. Torrie Wilson is usually a fan favorite, but Mickie James took the vote. Now if Torrie had dressed like Victoria or Kelly Kelly, the vote may have been different.

It was also good to see the new matches added. Kane defeated MVP in a bout (due to Matt Hardy's injury), but didn't get the US title. Mr. Kennedy defeated Jeff Hardy, but didn't win the Intercontinental title. I see Mr. Kennedy capturing the IC title next though, so possibly he does that at Survivor Series or on an edition of Raw.

The only match I expected to go differently was the Undertaker v Batista, because it seemed like Undertaker was supposed to have the belt for a while until his unfortunate injury. However, the WWE may have changed its mind for his title reign for a little while. The popular rumor is that he will retire at Wrestlemania, so possibly he gets the belt prior to the event, or goes out on a high note winning the title there and then vacating.

I found it humorous and great that the fans voted The Miz into the Pay Per View. The buzz around the wrestling sites, blogs, rumor mills was that Morrison would capture the vote and then the ECW title. However, with The Miz getting voted in, the fans may have held off the WWE's plans for that title change, at least for a few days or until the next Pay Per View.

Raw Recap 08.06.07

Raw recap from Buffalo, NY:

Raw started off with an "Earlier tonight" showing Mr. McMahon walking in the back garage of the arena. Coach came up to Vince, welcoming him back. Vince said tonight he wants "every WWE superstar under contract in the ring when they go live" Vince said as a citizen of the US he intends to express his freedom of expression.

After the fireworks went off, Jim Ross talked about Vince being back as every WWE wrestler and diva from backstage began walking down to the ring. Just about everyone from the Raw roster filed into the ring except for Orton and Cena. Mr. McMahon's music came on as Vince came from backstage onto the ramp with a mic in hand.

Vince told everyone they will begin where they left off, with the limo explosion on Raw when he was blown to smithereens. Footage shown of Vince entering the lim as it exploded. Vince said that's the way he wants to go out "in a blaze of glory". Vince said many would ask "why would you stage your own demise?" Vince said he needed to know if everyone really cared. Vince said he's a sensitive human being who needs positive reinforcement, and the outpouring of sympathy and concern he got was overwhelming. Vince said he has to address many topics, including "US Congress". the hypocrisy of the news media, and certain individuals from his immediate family. Vince said first he needs to address the wrestlers in the ring. Just then Coach came out onto the ramp and stood next to Vince.

Vince said in just a moment the bell will ring and they will have a battle royal with everyone in the ring. Vince said the winner of the battle royal becomes the new General Manager of WWE Raw. Coach looked at Vince, shocked, as Vince said to ring the bell. Everyone in the ring started fighting as the divas took off up the ramp.

Battle Royal to determine GM of RAW

All the men in the ring began fighting ferociously, with Umaga eliminating 3 men quickly. Sandman able to eliminate Booker over the top rope, right in front of Jerry Lawler at the announcers' table. Umaga then tossed Big Chad from Cryme Tyme out of the ring. Lawler said Umaga has to be the favorite here. Raw went to commercial with at least 10 men still in the ring fighting, including Umaga, Regal, Carlito, Hacksaw and Sandman.

Raw returned with the battle royal still going. Everyone except Carlito began to gang up on Umaga. Carlito stood back watching as they tried to push Umaga over the ropes, but Umaga able to escape. Umaga knocked Lance Cade down with a solid punch. Val Venis able to eliminate Cade over the ropes. Venis then tried to fight Umaga, who tossed Vince over the ropes. Val landed on the apron but Umaga punched him off, eliminating him. Umaga clotheslined Brian Kendrick but fell out of the ring with him. Just then Mr. Kennedy was tossed out. Hacksaw was one of the next out.

The match came down to 4 with Shelton Benjamin, Cody Rhodes, Carlito and Sandman. Rhodes began to punch away at Benjamin as Carlito worked on Sandman. Rhodes with some high flying moves off the ropes. Benjamin tossed him over the ropes but Rhodes hung on and got back in the ring. Shelton then used a strong kick to Rhodes knocking him down. Carlito picked up Rhodes and tossed him over the ropes. Sandman climbed the top turnbuckle. Carlito went up after him but got shoved off. Just then Shelton ran up to the top and suplexed Sandman down to the mat hard. Shelton and Benjamin remained on their backs as Carlito got up. Benjamin and Carlito went over the top rope onto the side apron, battling.

Sandman got up and saw the 2 men fighting. Sandman ran over and clotheslined both wrestlers off, eliminating them. Sandman raised his arms up thinking he won the GM of Raw position. Just then William Regal slid back under the ropes and into the ring behind him. Ross and Lawler asked where he came from. Regal grabbed Sandman and tossed him over the ropes, then was pronounced the winner of the match. Regal celebrated in the ring as symphony music played. A replay showed Regal had left the match under the bottom rope, appearing to have hurt his leg. JR said Regal may have been faking the injury while the match went on.

Winner: William Regal wins the battle royal and becomes the new General Manager of Raw

When Raw returned from break Ross and Lawler replayed the battle royal outcome and aftermath showing Regal sneak back into the ring to toss Sandman out.

Backstage, Coach was complaining to Vince about Regal becoming the new GM because he's not even a US citizen. Vince told Coach he was more upset about 2 Congressional committees investigating WWE because they seem like Barney Fife doing this job. Vince asked why they need 2 congressional committees to investigate WWE. Vince discussed history and Ben Franklin standing up for rights. Vince told Coach to not worry about his job. Vince said he could be an assistant for Regal who likes Earl Grey tea.

Promo shown for HHH's return at Summerslam.

Backstage, Todd Grisham interviewed King Booker with Queen Sharmelle. Todd started off asking him about Triple H the "King of Kings". Booker said HHH is a punk just like his opponent tonight, Jerome Lawler. Booker said he will prove there is just one form of royalty on Raw, King Booker. Booker said next week there will be a special ceremony where the loser of tonight's match will have to put the crown on the winning king's head. Booker said he is the true King of Kings. Queen Sharmelle then said "all hail King Booker!"

Rory of the Highlanders vs. Snitsky

Rory tried to kick Snitsky, but Snitsky tossed him to the ropes then clotheslined him down hard. Snitsky with a powerslam from his shoulder and an immediate pin to capture the victory. Snitsky then stood over his fallen opponent menancingly before he left the ring. Robbie got into the ring seeming to talk to his partner angrily about losing so quick.

Winner: Snitsky wins via pinfall over Rory.

Vince backstage talking to a WWE staff member. Coach came running up and said Regal was in the shower when a call came through for Vince on Coach's cell. Coach told Vince it's his accountant. Vince took the cell phone and said "you're kidding me" and "i dont care open them all up we have nothing to hide, let them audit every single thing time we have". Vince said "they are gonna wind up owing me money". Coach asked Vince what that was about, and Vince said the IRS is investigating Vince. Vince said the media will have a field day with this one. Vince told Coach there's no difference between media and WWE, because both are "in the entertainment business". VInce said you could roll it all together into one big show. As Vince exited with Coach, a man sitting and reading a newspaper was shown. The man lowered the paper and it was Irwin R Scheister, wrestler IRS, looking on.

Jillian Hall

Jillian got into the ring wearing a microphone headset saying in honor of Summerslam they need to kick this party off. Jillian asked Lillian about her new album, Lillian said the Spanish title and it translates to "I Want to Live" in English. Jillian asked the crowd if they wanted to hear a new song by Lillian. The crowd cheered for it, but Jillian said "no they want to hear me". Jillian then began singing in her tone deaf style, until Mickie James came out interrupting for their match.

Jillian attacked Mickie James at the bell, then held Mickie's arms behind her back to keep her seated on the mat. Mickie flipped Jillian over her back then got to the corner. When Jillian came at her Mickie was able to jump up and get her in a head scissors move. Mickie took control from here, eventually landing a neckbreaker. Jillian kicked out of a pin at 2. Mickie continued to dominate and climbed the top rope with Jillian down. Jillian rolled under the bottom rope then waited for Mickie to come at her on the apron. Jillian snapped Mickie's head down against the ropes, then finished her off with a neckbreaker for the pinfall victory.

Winner: Jillian wins via pinfall over Mickie James.

Backstage Coach congratulated William Regal on becoming the new GM. Regal thanked him and called him the assistant. Coach corrected him saying "executive assistant". Regal said now that he's GM, he always wanted to be the host of a live game show. Regal said they would be doing a new version of his favorite game show "The Dating Game". Regal told Coach to round up contestants and a set for the show. Regal added in for Coach to get him some Earl Grey tea as Coach exited.

Reply shown of Carlito spitting an apple in Cena's face after beating him on Raw last week. Jim Ross said Carlito's Cabana featuring John Cena would be up next.

Promo ad shown for Summerslam with various superstar highlights. Summerslam is 3 weeks away.

Carlito's Cabana w/Guest John Cena

Carlito got into the ring full of a cabana hanging on the ring posts and chairs and trees. Carlito said things went so well last week he would have the same guest as last week, John Cena. Cena made his way down to the ramp and got into the ring and stared straight in Carlito's face. Cena shoved Carlito down so he was sitting in one of the chairs. Cena then took the mic to talk.

Cena welcomed the crowd to "Carlito's Cabana" and said tonight this is a special show called "Cena's Cabana" with Cena as host. Cena said Huey Lewis and the news would be there later. Cena said the first guest would be current champ "John Cena". Cena then did an interview with himself, back and forth as host and interviewee. Cena said he is "pissed after last week when an apple was spit in his face". Cena had them roll footage on the Titantron of last week's match with Carlito, Orton interfered and distracted Cena allowing Carlito to score the pinfall win. After the win, Carlito spit out chewed apple into Cena's face after the win. Cena then spoke about Randy Orton who has been ending careers, making statements and who believes after Summerslam he will be the new WWE champion. Cena said "the champ is here!" and then as host said "catch John Cena each week on Raw and in 3 weeks on Summerslam".

Cena said it is now time for the Cabana's Top 3. Tonight he would give the Top 3 reasons to trash the cabana and beat the hell out of Carlito:

Reason #3: Cena held up a drink in a coconut mug and said "these are the only nuts Carlito will ever have".

Reason #2: Cena said in real life "Carlito doesn't like apples or spitting them out, he'd rather swallow a banana". Carlito angrily stood up and got in Cena's face.

Reason #1: Cena said because "that my friend is cool" and began to beat up Carlito.

Cena knocked Carlito to the mat, pounding on him. As Cena was attacking Carlito, Randy Orton hopped over the crowd barrier and snuck into the ring. Cena saw Orton get in the ring and went at him. Orton came at Cena and tried for the RKO. Cena shoved Orton against the ropes and Orton quickly exited the ring to retreat. Cena then picked up Carlito on his shoulders and stared out at Orton before he did the "F U" on Carlito in the ring. Cena took his shirt off and then taunted Orton who stood on the ramp.

Just then, William Regal came onto the ramp and told Cena he is glad he's ready for a fight tonight. Regal then told Carlito and Orton to get themselves ready because they would decide amongst themselves who should be Cena's opponent tonight. Regal said he wants an answer from them soon as Raw headed to commercial.

September issue of WWE magazine shown with Triple H as guest editor and cover of the magazine in a Terminator costume.

Replay shown of what just occurred in the ring with Cena, Carlito and Orton. Ross discussed how Cena made a statement to Orton F-Uing Carlito in front of him.

Backstage, Regal asked Carlito and Randy Orton who should face Cena. Orton said that he has the chance to face Cena at Summerslam and Carlito beat Cena last week. Carlito said they came up with the idea of having the IC Champ Umaga face Cena on tonight in the main event. Regal told them it was a brilliant idea as they left.

Vince McMahon was sitting near the men and asked Regal to sit down on a couch with him. Vince told Regal not everyone was concerned about his alleged demise, most importantly his family. Vince said his son Shane was MIA after the demise of Vince and his daughter Stephanie was seen meeting with lawyers about collecting on insurance and inheritance money. Vince said he also knows his wife was being consoled by Basil Devito a longtime faithful employee of the WWE. Vince said he needs a way to bring his family back together. Vince said despite the pressure on him, he needs to do this and bring the goodness of Mr McMahon out. Vince told Regal nothing can stop us. The audience was heard applauding in the arena.

Jerry Lawler vs. King Booker (to determine King)

Lillian Garcia announced this match will decide who is coronated at a special ceremony on next week's Raw in Madison Square Garden. Ross went over a replay of what happened last week between Lawler and Booker in their match, with Lawler winning and attacking Booker on the ramp after the match ended.

Booker backed Lawler into a corner early attacking him with punches. Booker and Lawler punched back and forth in the ring corner. Booker tried to hold Lawler in a hammerlock, but Lawler escaped and came off the ropes to attack Booker. Booker able to kick Lawler in the gut and then chest chop him. Booker knocked King to the mat with a righthand punch. Booker dropped Lawler's neck against the top rope. Booker dominated Lawler from here, scoring a strong kick to Lawler's head as he tried to stand up. Booker continued to knock Lawler around and tried for a pin. Lawler able to kick out at 2. Booker kept Lawler seated down on the mat in a hold.

Lawler able to stand up and tried for a dropkick at Booker, but Booker avoided it as Lawler fell to the mat. Lawler again tried to grab momentum punching Booker near the ropes. Booker grabbed Lawler's trunks and pulled him through the ropes. Booker went out of the ring after him. Both men fought outside the ring. As Lawler started to get in the ring from the apron, Queen Sharmelle distracted him. Lawler looked at her from the side apron then got into the ring. Just as he entered, Booker ran over and did his finisher kick to Lawler's head. With Lawler down, Booker picked up the win. JR said he can only imagine what Jerry Lawler is thinking now after losing the match, having to crown Booker next week in the ring.

Winner: King Booker wins via pinfall over Jerry Lawler. Lawler must officially crown Booker in the ring at a coronation ceremony on next week's Raw.

Mr. Kennedy shown walking backstage. Jim Ross said the man who injured Bobby Lashley would be coming to the ring to speak, next.

Replay shown of last Monday's Raw match between Lashley and Mr. Kennedy. Lashley injured his shoulder when Kennedy kicked him against the steel steps, then repeatedly attacked him. Kennedy scored a pinfall win due to exploiting Lashley's injury. JR said Lashley has a torn rotator cuff and will have surgery in Birmingham AL tomorrow. Ross said he expects WWE.com to update everyone on the surgery.

Mr. Kennedy came down to the ring gloating. Kennedy grabbed the microphone which dropped from above as the lights dimmed. Kennedy told the crowd that what Lashley is hearing right now is something everyone else will be hearing for a long time:

"Kennedy!........Kennedy!.......Kennedy!...........Kennedy!............Kennedy!....." Raw went to commercial break as Mr. Kennedy continued to yell his last name out.

Backstage, Orton and Carlito were trying to get Umaga riled up for his match against Cena. They told Umaga to break Cena. Ross said the main event would be later on tonight on Raw.

WWE Dating Game hosted by GM Regal

William Regal in the ring at a podium said he was honored to present the dating game. He said tonight a WWE diva would win a date with a superstar. Regal introduced the 3 contestants for the game show, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Ron Simmons and Santino Marella. Hacksaw said he was ready with his "big piece of wood". Ron Simmons exclaimed "DAMN!" and Regal said "I didn't see that one coming". Santino Marella wearing an arm sling said "I'm in lots of pain".

Regal introduced their lovely diva who loves walks on the beach, sunsets and Rainbow Brite, Maria. Maria came down to the ring in a tight pink and black dress, Maria sat in a chair next to Regal with the 3 wrestlers behind a screen so Maria could not see them.

Maria asked each man a question, but Santino interrupted and told Maria it was him behind the screen. Maria told him "thats the worst Santino impression i've ever heard". Maria continued with the game show, but Marella became upset. Hacksaw and Santino got into each other's faces, but Regal yelled for them to shutup. Regal asked Maria to make her choice. Maria said she likes the strong silent type, so she chose Bachelor #2, Ron Simmons. The crowd cheered her choice and seemed to enjoy Simmons' answers to her questions which each rhymed with "DAMN!".

Ron Simmons ran out and hugged Maria as the winner. Santino told them to stop with this. Marella came up and asked Maria what she was doing and said Simmons was a creep. Simmons told Marella "SCRAM!". Marella told Simmons he is leaving with Maria and nobody can stop him. Just then Umaga interrupted as his music came on. Umaga came walking down to the ring for his match with Cena up next, as everyone scrambled to run out of the ring.

Backstage, Coach was sitting on a couch. A man entered the office and said he had documents for Mr. McMahon. The man told Coach he had a summons for Mr. McMahon, which Coach signed for. Coach took the paperwork out and started to look it over. Coach looked over the paperwork, shook his head and said "I gotta go find Mr McMahon".

John Cena vs. Umaga

Umaga ran at Cena in the corner, then chopped him down to the mat. Umaga started to dominate Cena tossing him around the ring. Umaga stood up Cena and headbutted him. Umaga continued beating up Cena in the ring. A loud "Cena sucks" chant was heard just as Cena reversed and grabbed some momentum. Umaga was able to score a flying kick on Cena, knocking him out of the ring. Raw hit commercial.

When Raw returned, Umaga and Cena were on their feet in the center of the ring. Umaga tried to overpower Cena, but Cena escape and ducked a clothesline. Despite getting Umaga on his shoulders for the "F U", Umaga's weight was too much and he fell on Cena. Cena started to hold his neck as if he were injured near the ropes as he lay on the mat.

Umaga jumped off the ropes at Cena, but Cena rolled away. Cena then grabbed Umaga in the STFU submission hold and kept it locked in with Umaga looking to be in pain. As Umaga was about to tap, Orton and Carlito came running down to the ring. Orton and Carlito doubleteam attacked Cena as the ref called for the bell. The 2 wrestlers beat up Cena and left him sitting in the corner. Orton and Carlito went over and helped Umaga get to his feet and told him to rush Cena in the corner with his hip splash. Umaga looked at both men and then surprisingly hit Orton, knocking Orton out of the ring. Next Umaga used a superkick to Carlito's chin/face, knocking Carlito into a corner, sitting. Umaga then looked at both Carlito and Cena seated in adjacent ring corners. Umaga decided to run at Carlito. Carlito saw the Bulldozer coming and quickly rolled out of the ring.

Regal came out to interrupt the brawl and announced that next week Cena and Umaga would team up to face Orton and Carlito in a tag match. Just then Cena ran up the ramp chasing Orton backstage. Umaga then saw Carlito and chased him up the ramp too.

Winner: John Cena wins due to disqualification, when Carlito and Randy Orton interfered in the match.

Vince McMahon shown backstage walking past a line of Raw superstars. He stopped at Paul London and said "keep that smile on your face". Vince exited the arena in a moment of deja vu, similar to weeks ago when his limo exploded. Vince walked through a wet parking lot and turned back to look at the arena. Vince walked up to a white limousine and began to get inside. Coach ran up before Vince could close the door.

Coach yelled "No No No" and told Vince he needs to read the summons that just came in. Vince stood up from out of the limo and yelled at Coach for reading his summons. Vince asked Coach to tell him the news. Coach said the state of Connecticut is serving Vince with a paternity suit for an illegitimate child he sired. Vince turned away looking upset. Coach said there may be another member of the McMahon family running around somewhere out there. Raw left with Vince standing next to the white limo, looking shaken up.
