WWE Releases 4 Superstars, 2 Divas

Shocking news today that WWE has released four male wrestlers and two of its WWE Divas. According to a note on WWE.com, they've released Shad Gaspard, Luke Gallows, Vance Archer and Caylen Croft as well as divas Jillian Hall and Tiffany.

This may come as quite a shock seeing as several of these individuals had been featured in recent matches and feuds. Shad was the least recently seen of those released, but Vance Archer and Luke Gallows had both been involved in recent contests. Gallows was seen on Friday's edition of Smackdown, albeit in a brief backstage appearance as Kane rushed past.

Vance Archer had been a tag team partner along with Curt Hawkins, while Caylen Croft was one half of the Dudebusters. It'll be interesting to see if they continue to announce Trent Barretta as one half of the Dudebusters, or if they will officially disband that concept.

As for the divas, the Tiffany release is less shocking than that of Jillian Hall. Hall had pretty much been a main stay to help push divas over. She had been involved in a recent feud with the Bella Twins and even released new Christmas music. According to website Diva-Dirt, it appears Jillian will be doing more work as a part of the developmental training staff. Still, her gimmick of awful singing prior to matches will be missed on Raw and other events!

Tiffany had been involved in some off-screen drama with hubby Drew McIntyre, and was suspended from WWE. This happened after a successful bit of feuding with Team LayCool and partnering up with Kelly Kelly. Tiffany has been tweeting about her release and mentioned her off-screen real life husband, WWE star Drew McIntyre:

"I am sad that I won't be able to work with Drew. He is the best thing in my life and I know he is going to do amazing things with WWE. WWE is still a major part of my family and will always be. I am so proud of my husband and will be his biggest cheerleader. If it wasn't for WWE, we would have never met. I love you Drew. Thanks for being my rock :)"

Wishing best luck to Shad, Luke, Vance, Caylen, Tiffany and Jillian in all future endeavors. Any guesses as to which of these former WWE stars will show up in TNA?

Todd Grisham and Matt Striker of Smackdown's commentary team started the show off. Jack Swagger arrived out with the Soaring Eagle mascot.

Jack Swagger vs. Kaval

This was a rematch from their previous match where Swagger made Kaval tap out to the Ankle lock. Early in the match, Kaval managed to use the ropes to swing through and dropkick Swagger into the commentary table. He followed up by flying off the corner to land on Swagger on the outside.

Kaval gained momentum following a commercial break. He went for a springboard move but Swagger avoided it then hit a belly-to-back suplex followed by a near fall. Kaval rolled to the apron and was able to connect with a kick followed by a sunset flip for a pinfall. Kaval had another springboard move moments later for a near fall.

Towards the end of the match, Kaval was on the apron. As the ref was looking the other way, the eagle mascot swiped Kaval's leg causing Kaval to land on the apron hard. Swagger pulled him into the ring for the Ankle Lock and Kaval tapped out soon after.

Winner: Jack Swagger wins due to submission over Kaval.

They showed highlights of this past Tuesday's NXT on SyFy featuring the wedding of Goldust and Aksana. Ted Dibiase tried to pay off the minister in order to get back his Million Dollar Belt. However, Dusty Rhodes found another minister, Ted Dibiase to do the wedding. They finished the vows and put the rings on, but when Goldust went for the kiss, Aksana slapped him and left the ring. In the elimination at the end of the show, Naomi had immunity. Maxine was the latest diva sent home.

Vance Archer vs. Luke Gallows

Late in the match, Gallows hit a big boot to kick Archer down. He pulled his straps down and started yelling to get the audience involved. Gallows hit a huge splash on Archer for a near fall. Gail Kim vs. Alicia Fox

Scott Stanford and Jerry Lawler were now on hand for the commentary on this Raw divas match. During the match, Alicia yanked Gail by the hair down and used a backbreaker on her. She continued the onslaught and went into an impressive bridge pin attempt. Moments later, Alicia tossed Gail over her back to the mat. Alicia choked Gail through the ropes using her hair to pull on.

Later on, Gail was able to pull off an impressive sit splash on the apron. Alicia fell to the apron and Gail tried to climb the corner. Alicia got off the apron and walked towards the commentators table. Gail went outside and grabbed her by the hair then tossed Alicia into the ring. As Gail was getting in, Alicia kicked her in the gut. With both divas on their feet, Alicia tried to pick up Gail on her shoulder for a slam. Gail countered and got down then hit her finisher the Eat Defeat for the win.

Winner: Gail Kim wins via pinfall over Alicia Fox.

Stanford and Lawler were back to remind fans that tomorrow on Smackdown Edge will face Alberto Del Rio in a main event match. They switched topics to Survivor Series 2010 which will feature John Cena as special guest referee for the Wade Barrett vs Randy Orton WWE Title match.

Mark vs. The Uso Brothers
2-on-1 Handicap Match

Last week Mark Henry defeated Jey Uso for the victory using the World's Strongest Slam. The Usos were accompanied to the ring by Tamina. Jey Uso started things off with a fast attack but was soon shoved to the mat by Mark Henry. Henry tried to drag Jey over to tag in Jimmy because Henry wanted the Uso who kicked h im last week. Jimmy finally got a blind tag and came in to clip Henry from behind on a slam move.

Jimmy continued to keep Henry grounded and hit a leg drop for a near fall. Lawler added in a fun fact that Henry's first ever match was against him. During the action, Henry rolled under the bottom rope with his head hanging over the apron. The ref was busy with the Usos allowing Tamina to come by and deliver a solid kick to Henry's head. He rolled back in the ring hurting, as one of the Usos kicked Henry in the head, then jumped off the corner for the Samoan Splash.

Winners: The Usos win via pinfall over Mark Henry.

A video package was shown about The Big Red Monster Kane and his destructive path en route to becoming World Heavyweight Champion. Striker and Grisham talked that over before showing the "Legendary" preview and "Insider" behind-the-scenes segment that has aired on Raw and NXT.

They discussed the upcoming Night of Champions PPV which includes Undertaker versus Kane for the World Championship, plus a new match featuring CM Punk against The Big Show.

Joey Mercury of the Straight Edge Society accompanied Gallows to the ring. They reviewed highlight footage from when Show faced Gallows and Punk on Smackdown and shoved Gallows into Punk on the apron. Back in the ring on Superstars, Gallows got on the mic to say he's better than everyone there. He said tonight he's going to single handedly dismantle the World's Largest athlete, the Big Show. Gallows and Mercury put a hand in the air to pledge the Straight Edge way.

Big Show vs. Luke Gallows

Smackdown Results 08/27/10

Smackdown results from Fresno, CA:

Grisham and Striker kicked things off for their West Coast tour edition of Smackdown. Grisham said tonight we'll see a Summerslam PPV rematch between Kane and Rey Mysterio, in a No DQ match. Also, Kofi Kingston gets a rematch against Ziggler for the IC title. If Dolph is DQ'd, Kofi automatically wins the title. Also, The Undertaker returns later tonight to confront Kane.

Rey Mysterio vs. Kane
No Disqualification Match

Striker talked about the damage Mysterio suffered last week in Alberto Del Rio's debut match. Rey made his way to the ring first, stopping along the way to greet the younger fans. Kane's pyro exploded next and the World Champ made his way to the ring.

Early on, Kane knocked Rey out of the ring, then went out to attack further, dropping Kane onto the crowd barrier. Kane tossed Rey back in the ring, then retrieved a kendo stick from the outside. However as Kane got in, Rey grabbed the stick away and smashed it against Kane three times. As Rey ran across the ring he was booted down by Kane. Kane resumed control and again was able to knock Kane off the apron to the outside. However, Mysterio was able to use a drop toe hold to trip Kane face first into the steel steps. Moments later he did a seated senton from off the commentators table onto Kane.

Rey was able to regain control after break, using a steel chair on Kane that the Big Red Monster brought in. Rey eventually connected with a 619, then went for a springboard move from off the top rope. Kane grabbed him by the throat from mid-air for a Chokeslam onto the steel chair, then got the winning pinfall. Kane let the pyro explode from the ringposts then exited with his title.

Winner: Kane wins via pinfall over Rey Mysterio.

Post-match, WWE officials checked on Rey Mysterio and helped him out of the ring. As Rey was ringside with a trainer, Alberto Del Rio came out from backstage to remind everyone who he is. With a mic in hand, Del Rio asked Rey if he was ok. Del Rio asked if Mysterio's going to be ok, then said he looks like a dying dog and someone needs to put him down.

Suddenly, Del Rio shoved the officials away and threw Rey into the crowd barrier, before removing his suit jacket. He applied his armbreaker submission on Rey on the outside floor, causing Mysterio to scream in pain. Del Rio finally released it then stood up smiling at the fans before heading up the ramp. Del Rio got a sick smile on his face then went back to the ring and grabbed the steel chair. He rushed over to ringside and put Rey's hurt arm into the steel chair, then shoved him into the ringpost hard. Del Rio smirked as he posed above Rey, then backed away.

Smackdown returned with highlights of what Del Rio just did to Rey Mysterio, attacking him viciously and further hurting Rey's injured arm using a submission hold and then the steel chair.

JTG vs. CM Punk

All of The Straight Edge Society arrived out, including Serena who has recently been fired by WWE. This taping occurred prior to the release of Serena Deeb.

Punk seemed to dominate the match against JTG as he whipped him to the other corner then hit his running knee to the face. Punk went for a Bulldog and connected on it. Punk put his one hand up in the air for the SES Pledge, then hit GTS. Instead of taking the pin, Punk put on the Anaconda vice grip submission hold eventually making JTG tap.

Winner: CM Punk wins due to submission over JTG.

Post-match, CM Punk ordered the rest of SES into the ring and on their knees. He yelled at them that his performance is how you represent SES and spread the message of purity to the rotten world we all live in. Punk said he leads by example, and tonight it's been set. He told Gallows he wants Big Show face down in a pool of his own drool, with the stamp of SES on his face. Punk said this is the last time he's going to tell them all: "Be Better or Be Gone!"

Rosa Mendes was backstage showing GM Teddy Long her latest training device. Teddy Long said all her workouts are really showing great results. Rosa said gracias, then left the office still shaking the workout grip device. Teddy sat down to read WWE magazine. A plant in the corner started to move causing Teddy to turn around and look. It moved closer to the couch and he looked again.

Finally, Teddy turned and the plant opened up to reveal Hornswoggle's face and arms, causing Teddy to jump. He asked if Hornswoggle has been spying on other people. Hornswoggle played charades with Teddy to get him to say "Lay Cool". Teddy asked what they've been saying, so Hornswoggle scribbled on a notepad. Teddy said he doesn't understand Leprechaun or the scribbles. Teddy says he knows a way Hornswoggle and him can work together.

Grisham and Striker brought up the next PPV, Night of Champions, and how World Champ Kane's focus is now on what will happen with The Undertaker.

They reviewed last Friday's match between Kofi and Ziggler for the IC title, which Vickie Guerrero interfered in, causing the DQ. Ziggler attacked Kofi post-match with the Zig Zag and then a sleeper hold. With Kofi passed out on the mat, Dolph got back in the ring and stomped on his head hard.

Smackdown returned with a Dashing Cody Rhodes grooming tip about shaving. Rhodes talked about achieving a masculine shave for the entire body, the arms, chest and especially the legs. Rhodes showed his leg had shaving cream all over and started using a shaving blade on it. He said a smooth shaven body is sexually attractive to the opposite sex.

Kofi Kingston vs. Dolph Ziggler
Intercontinental Championship Match

The stipulation on this match is if Dolph is DQ'd, Kofi is automatically the IC champ. Dolph Ziggler was accompanied to the ring by Smackdown consultant Vickie Guerrero. Striker said that Kofi has had to sleep with a special device for his jaw this past week, due to Ziggler's head stomp last week.

Kofi got the advantage early on the outside, smashing Ziggler to the floor and against the crowd barrier. Moments later in the ring, Kofi avoided a strike from Dolph then hit the Run High for a nearfall. As Smackdown returned from a break, Kofi missed on a leg drop from off the corner, leaving both men down.

Later in the match, Ziggler got the sleeper locked on Kofi. Kofi managed to quickly get himself close to the ropes to break it up. The ref pulled Dolph away, and Vickie slapped Kofi in the face without the ref seeing it. Dolph went over and yelled to Vickie "don't you screw this up for me" several times.

Later in the match, Kingston hit a flying crossbody off the corner for a close pinfall. Kofi got Dolph up and went for Run High again, but Dolph blocked and used a firemen's carry for a nearfall of his own. Later still, Kofi knocked Dolph out of the ring. He went to the apron, told Vickie to move aside then jumped to land on Ziggler. Kofi tried to stand up Ziggler for a move, then got clotheslined down. Both guys struggled to get back in the ring to beat the count. As they were both on the apron trying to get inside the ring, Vickie grabbed Dolph to hold him back, causing Ziggler to get counted out. Kofi was declared winner, but Dolph is still IC champ. Kofi was livid and chased Dolph up into the audience out through an exit.

Winner: Kofi Kingston wins due to countout of Dolph Ziggler, but Dolph Ziggler is still the Intercontinental Championship.

They flashed back to last week's speech by Kane about his plan to destroy The Undertaker and claim the World Title for himself. Kane said he replaced his brother as the Devil's favorite demon. Grisham and Striker talked it over saying The Undertaker will return to make his response later tonight and "there will be vengeance".

MVP vs. Jack Swagger
Jack Swagger Sr. Invitational Shootout

If Swagger wins he hosts VIP Loung for one night, but if MVP wins he gets a end of Summer block party with Swagger picking up the tab. The rules are the first man to get five takedowns wins the contest. Grisham said this is what Stragger has done his entire life with his collegiate wrestling background.

Swagger wore protective wrestling headgear and handed some to MVP who tossed it out of the ring. Swagger practiced a few takedown moves prior to the match starting. MVP responded to Swagger's early taunts with a slap to the face. Swagger got the first takedown early to make it 1-0 in his favor. He got another takedown just moments later to put it to 2-0. Swagger went up 3-0 grabbing MVP and picking him up in a bearhug, then slamming him to the mat.

Swagger took down MVP yet again and then started to hold him face down against the mat. MVP was infuriated and then got up to punch Swagger in the face. The ref called for the DQ. MVP got out of the ring to leave. Swagger came out of the ring and took down MVP with the ankle lock, keeping it locked on him. Swagger finally released it, then removed his headgear and threw it down on MVP. The refs checked on Montell's condition. Swagger backed up the ramp yelling it was his "VIP Lounge".

Winner: Jack Swagger wins the Sr. Invitational by DQ over MVP.

Team LayCool was backstage with their NXT rookie Kaval doing a photoshoot. They said they looked Flawless. Layla and Michelle started talking trash on Melina, then went over their plans for Melina on the upcoming 900th episode of Raw. Kaval took the two male WWE staff out of the room so LayCool could discuss their plans for Melina.

Grisham and Striker showed highlights of Christian versus Drew McIntyre with Cody Rhodes on guest commentary. Post-match, Rhodes and McIntyre attacked Christian. Matt Hardy rushed to the ring to help, but was soon overcome by Rhodes and McIntyre.

Alberto Del Rio arrived out in his Rolls Royce. Ricardo Rodriguez the personal announcer of Del Rio intro'd him to the crowd for the match.

Carlos Sanchez vs. Alberto Del Rio

Sanchez was billed as from Fresno, CA getting a bit of a pop from the local fans. However, he was no match for Del Rio who asked the ref who this guy was.

Del Rio took control from the start in the corner and then hit a Castillian Belly-to-Back suplex moments later. He put a tight headlock on Sanchez down on the mat. Sanchez got some momentum avoiding Del Rio in the corner, and then punching away on him. Del Rio grabbed the guy and sat him up on the ropes. He stopped and winked with a smile then shoved Sanchez to the floor from the top rope. He put Sanchez back in the ring, stood him up and locked in his Cross Arm breaker submission making his opponent quickly tap. Del Rio is now 2-0 in his early WWE Smackdown career.

Winner: Alberto Del Rio wins via submission over Carlos Sanchez.

Kelly Kelly and Big Show were shown walking backstage joking around as they made their way out to the ring.

Big Show vs. Luke Gallows

Gallows came out with Joey Mercury and Serena trailing behind them on the ramp. Show got off to the early start, with CM Punk watching on a monitor backstage, unhappy with what he saw so far.

Show continued the onslaught, slapping Gallows on the chest in the corner, then tossing him across the ring. Gallows rolled to the outside. Show went out after Gallows as Serena tried to help her SES member. Show gave enough chest slap on Gallows then rolled him back inside. Show yelled "what" at Serena, distracting her. Kelly charged around the ring and then pounced on Serena outside.

Back in the ring, Gallows punched away on Show as Show was getting into the ring. Show shoved Gallows back, but Gallows kept attacking, forcing Show to one knee. Gallows got knocked down by Show's hand, and then Big Show delivered the mighty KO punch to get the pinfall win. CM Punk was not happy with the results backstage. Show picked up Kelly and put her on his shoulder to celebrate the win.

Winner: The Big Show wins via pinfall over Luke Gallows.

After commercial break, Smackdown returned as the arena went dark, followed by the Undertaker's music, smoke and lights. The Phenom made his way down the ramp intypical chilling fashion as Tony Chimel introduced him.

Undertaker got into the ring and grabbed a mic to respond to Kane's speech from last week. The fans continued their cheers for Undertaker as he began to speak. Taker said although he might look dead, he's not dead yet. He said he's still very much The Deadman and the ring is still his "yard."

Undertaker spoke of Kane's diseased soul, saying the disease has turned into a web of lies that Kane thinks he can fill Taker's boots. Taker said the biggest lie of them all is Kane thinking he can carry the "Holy Grail, the World Heavyweight Championship."

Suddenly, the pyro exploded at the top of the ramp and Kane arrived out with an evil grin and a mic. Kane told Taker he's the only one spinning a web of lies, because he hears the weakness in his voice and sees it in his eyes. Kane said Taker is no longer a phenom, and he'll have no problem crushing him like he did at Summerslam. He told Taker he's living in a fantasy now.

Taker brought up how Kane called himself "The Devil's favorite demon." The Phenom reminded Kane that the house the devil lives in was built by Undertaker, brick-by-brick. Taker says when he comes calling "the devil answers to him with 'Sir'." The Deadman said Kane will never be worthy to carry the World title or to be his brother.

Undertaker told Kane he taught him everything he knows about evil, but he didn't teach him "everything he knows." Taker said when the fight starts, it's always going to end the same way. Kane yelled out "not this time," because "this time it ends just like Summerslam, with Taker sprawled helpless" at his feet. Kane said he vows on the grave of their dead mother that Undertaker will never rest in peace. Kane let out a maniacal laugh from the ramp. Smackdown closed with Kane still laughing and Undertaker staring out at him from the ring.

Gallows brought SES member Serena, the anti-diva, to the ring with him. Chris Masters got control of the match, despite trying for the Masterlock and having Gallows ram him back first into the corner. This allowed Gallows to come over and kick Masters in the head, then grab him for the Gallows Pole off the corner.

Winner: Luke Gallows wins via pinfall over Chris Masters.

Striker and Grisham cut to highlights of this past Tuesday's NXT show where Cody Rhodes defeated Lucky Cannon in a 5 minute challenge. At the end of the night, Matt Striker was in the ring to ask the rookies to make their cases for next week's vote. One-by-one they had 45 seconds to speak and most of them had things to say. However, Husky Harris said he didn't need to speak, and ended up hitting Striker down to the mat, then hitting a sentaun bomb on him on the mat. The other rookies just watched, and Husky walked up the ramp with his pro Cody Rhodes.

WWE Divas The Bella Twins were shown slapping hands and walking backstage on their way out for the next match.

Lawler and Cole were now on hand for the Raw portion of the show. Jillian came out with her headset mic on to sing for the crowd. She started her usually bad singing until The Bella Twins music hit and they arrived out to stop the torture.

Brie Bella vs. Jillian

Brie was accompanied to the ring by her twin sister Nikki who watched from ringside. At one point, Jillian tossed Brie out over the top rope. Brie fell and hit the apron then the floor hard. Her sister Nikki slyly rushed over and fell on the floor next to her so Jillian and the ref wouldn't know which sister was which. However, the ref got out of the ring and patted Brie's face to realize she was sweating from the match. He ordered her to go back into the ring where Jillian kicked away on her in the corner. When the ref pulled her back, Brie rolled out of the corner and Nikki rolled in. Jillian rushed at her in the corner, but Nikki avoided it then used a schoolboy pin for the win.

Winner: Brie Bella wins via pinfall over Jillian.

A Sheamus Celtic Warrior highlight video brought the show back. The video showed various instances of the new champ from past matches when he demolished opponents.

Cole and Lawler brought up the disturbing finish to Monday Night Raw, then had footage shown of the NXT beatdown on Vince McMahon in the ring. They showed a large email on screen from the new anonymous GM of Raw which said "These actions will be met with the appropriate consequences."

R-Truth vs. William Regal

Truth was out first and did his standard rap entrance theme on the way to the ring.

Late in the match, Truth ducked a clothesline then hit a DDT to bring Regal to the mat for a pin attempt. Regal kicked out. As Regal got back up, Truth went for a suplex. Regal countered and tossed Truth towards the corner. However, as Regal went towards Truth, Truth came at him with the Lie Detector spinning finisher for the pinfall.

Winner: R-Truth wins via pinfall over William Regal.

In the match, Yoshi Tatsu tossed Primo to the outside, but Primo took control once they were both out there right before Superstars took a break. After the break, it was the heels dominating Yoshi, until he eventually escaped to tag in Goldust.

Back to Superstars, it was Smackdown's Todd Grisham and Matt Striker on commentary. They began to discuss the NXT invasion that happened on Monday Night Raw, Viewer's Choice Night. Striker said some people say it's the way to make an impact, but not how he was taught. He said if you want to make an impact do it in the ring, face-to-face, not in a cowardly way. They replayed highlight footage of what went down with the NXT Season 1 guys attacking John Cena, CM Punk, Gallows, Justin Roberts, referees, The Fink, Jerry Lawler and destroying the ring with its surrounding set up.

Kofi Kingston vs. Luke Gallows

Kofi came down to the ring first along with his NXT rookie Mike McGillicutty. Gallows was accompanied to the ring by only Serena, no CM Punk.

Striker kept talking about the NXT attack on Raw, asking why they would go after guys like Justin Roberts or the timekeeper. Striker also said the WWE security was overwhelmed by the attack from the "NXT graduates".

Kofi managed to kick Gallows off the apron. Gallows went over to say something to Serena, but as he walked back towards the ring, Kofi jumped off the apron on him with the crossbody. Kofi was all riled up as Superstars went to commerical break. After break, Superstars returned in progress with Kofi going for a pin. Gallows escaped and regained control as Mike McGillicutty looked on from ringside.

Gallows continued to have the upperhand, catching Kofi on a crossbody and hitting a fallaway slam. In the closing moments, Gallows missed on a rushing move on Kofi in the corner. Kofi managed to knock Gallows down and hit the double Boom leg drop. He set up for Trouble in Paradise, but instead ran and jumped on Gallows in the corner for a series of punches. Gallows responded with a big boot kick as Kofi ran against the ropes. Moments later, Gallows held onto the ropes and avoided Trouble in Paradise. He signaled for the Gallows Pole, but Kofi blocked and countered with SOS to win the match.

Winner: Kofi Kingston wins via pinfall over Luke Gallows.

Smackdown Results 06/04/10

Smackdown recap from Dallas, TX:

Smackdown opened with General Manager Teddy Long on camera backstage for a special announcement. He said over Memorial Day weekend, The Undertaker was found "in a vegetative state" by his brother Kane. Long said there's an ongoing investigation to find who or what was responsible for this attack. The Smackdown intro video kicked off from there.

Grisham and Striker were on hand for the commentary. They reiterated what Teddy Long had just announced, and reminded fans of Drew McIntyre's rematch for the Intercontinental title tonight against Kofi Kingston.

The arena went dark and the ominous druid theme music came on. Eight hooded and fully-cloaked druids came out from backstage carrying a coffin which they placed at ringside. After several moments with the druids standing around the ringside area, Kane's pyro exploded and the Big Red Monster arrived to the ring.

A podium with a mic was set up in the ring along with a wreath as if it were some sort of funeral. Kane backed away for a moment to collect himself, then told druids to open the coffin. He walked over and looked at the empty coffin and seemed upset. As ominous music kept going, Kane talked on the mic saying the most feared and respected force in WWE, his brother The Undertaker will no longer walk amongst them. Kane delivered a sort of eulogy about Undertaker's reign of darkness in WWE coming to an end. He made it sound as if an icon and their bond of brotherhood was "gone forever".

Kane said his brother will rise from the dead no more. He said soon those responsible will also be gone, as he will commit them to the depths of hell, a torturous existence they can't start to fathom. Kane was now screaming that there will be Vengeance never before seen, felt or imagined. Kane shoved the mic and podium down in a rage then knelt down like his brother's classic ring pose. Kane crawled over to the ropes near the coffin crying, saying he should have been there for him.

Smackdown returned with Grisham talking about the somber and chilling mood in the air after Kane's talk in the ring. Tony Chimel introduced World Heavyweight Champion, Jack Swagger. Swagger came out wearing an Oklahoma Sooners football jersey. Striker and Grisham said they don't know who will take the place of Undertaker at Fatal 4-Way if anyone.

MVP vs. Jack Swagger

Late in the match, MVP hit a Fisherman's Buster for a pinfall, but Swagger kicked out. From there, MVP stood Swagger up, with Swagger countering his move and hitting a Belly-to-Belly suplex for his own near fall. In the closing moments, Swagger went for his running Vader Bomb move on MVP near the corner. MVP got up and swiped Swagger's leg to make him hit the mat face first. Swagger stood up in the corner and MVP charged for his running kick. However, Swagger moved out of the way then got a school pinfall on MVP for the win.

Swagger escaped to the outside and grabbed his title to head up the ramp, with MVP on his feet in the ring. Just then, Curt Hawkins rushed into the ring and attacked MVP from behind. MVP staved off the attack, but soon Vance Archer was there to give him a boot kick. Archer hit his inverted DDT to bring MVP down, then Hawkins did a flying elbow off the ropes on him.

Winner: Jack Swagger wins via pinfall over MVP.

Backstage, Vickie Guerrero walked into Teddy Long's office and told him as GM he needs to get ahold of himself. Vickie said Teddy needs to take action to find a replacement for Undertaker at the Fatal 4-Way. As consultant, she suggested Dolph Ziggler as the guy to take Taker's spot in the match. Long then said every man on the roster will get an opportunity, and compete in a Smackdown battle royal tonight for the spot.

Smackdown returned with Striker leading into highlights from the WWE NXT finale show, where it was down to Justin Gabriel, David Otunga and Wade Barrett. They competed in a Triple Threat which Barrett won, and he later was named winner of NXT in the Pros Poll.

CM Punk was putting his mask on backstage in a locker room, when Kane smashed the door in and grabbed him. He started yelling at Punk and asked "Did you do it?" Punk said he and the SES had no connection, but offered their services to help a fallen brother. Kane said "Brother" and then shoved Punk out of the way. Smackdown went to a commercial with Kane fuming.

Drew McIntyre vs. Kofi Kingston
Intercontinental Title match

During the match, as Drew was dominating Kofi, Matt Hardy was shown walking down stairs in the arena with a ticket in hand. Matt had been suspended last week per Drew's note from Vince McMahon to Teddy Long. Hardy held up a ticket to show off as the fans chanted for him and Drew glared out at him at ringside.

Matt applauded for Kofi Kingston once he had knocked Drew down outside the ring. Drew took over outside by smashing Kofi into the steel steps then hit a suplex on the floor with Matt watching.

At one point in the action, McIntyre dodged Kingston outside the ring when Kofi jumped over the rings at him. Drew backed up a bit then threw a backhand at Matt Hardy to knock him down front row. Drew tossed Kofi back into the ring, as Matt tried to climb over the crowd barrier. Several security guys came over to restrain him. Back in the ring, Kofi countered Drew's move with the SOS to bring Drew down for a winning pin.

After Kofi's victory, Matt pretended to walk away casually then turned and got by the security. Matt got into the ring and hit a Twist of Fate to take Drew down. Security chased Matt into the crowd and out of the arena.

Winner: Kofi Kingston wins via pinfall over Drew McIntyre to retain the Intercontinental Championship.

Kane was shown in the locker room kneeling down in a moment of silence. Rey Mysterio was shown nearby kneeling with him and started to offer a prayer for Undertaker. Kane became upset and said he doesn't need Rey's sympathy, then said maybe Rey had something to do with what happened since he lost to Undertaker last week. Rey said he had nothing to do with it, but Kane wasn't accepting it. Rey backed away out of the locker room.

Smackdown returned with World Champ Jack Swagger backstage, belt on his shoulder. Swagger said in the state of Texas, the University of Oklahoma invented "Swagger". He talked about starting all four years for the Oklahoma Sooners, and how they beat the Texas Longhorns all four years. Swagger told everyone to stand up so he could sing the University of Oklahoma fight song. He began to sing "Boomer Sooner" with a bouncing ball on the screen for the words, until Kane walked up. The song ended as Kane asked "was it you?"

Kelly Kelly vs. Rosa Mendes

Michelle and Layla came out to the top of the stage to watch/distract Kelly during the match. That allowed Rosa to gain control. Rosa hit a suplex for a near fall. Rosa put a headscissors on Kelly down on the mat to wear her down. As Rosa got up and ran against the ropes, Kelly jumped on her and started pounding her head to the mat.

Kelly went on a tear with the momentum. Rosa whipped her to the corner, but Kelly hit her on the charge, then jumped with a splash pin. In the end, Kelly kicked Rosa in the gut and then drove her to the mat face first with her leg on Rosa's neck. The co-Women's champs Team LayCool was shocked up on the ramp with Kelly smiling out at them.

Winner: Kelly Kelly wins via pinfall over Rosa Mendes.

Big Show was in the locker room with Hornswoggle playing cards and having fun. Kane walked in and Hornswoggle took off running. Kane confronted Big Show saying Taker has always had his number. Show said he had nothing to do with Undertaker's condition. Show told Kane don't accuse him, because it would be a giant mistake. He put a hand on Kane's shoulder, but Kane pulled away then kicked the card table down.

Smackdown roster Battle Royal

The winner of this Smackdown roster Battle Royal would get the final spot in the Fatal 4-Way World Title match, replacing The Undertaker. Rey Mysterio was introduced first. Next was Dolph Ziggler and then Smackdown went to commercial.

When they returned, Luke Gallows, Finlay, Christian, Caylen Croft, Trent Berretta, MVP, JTG, Curt Hawkins, Vance Archer, Chavo and Chris Masters were all in the ring. Drew McIntyre was introduced and came to the Battle Royal next, holding the back of his neck still. Kofi Kingston was introduced next followed by Kane last. Shad Gaspar was missing from the ring of the roster members. Serena and CM Punk were at ringside to watch.

During the match, Mysterio rushed out under the ropes and tried to unmask CM Punk. Luke Gallows came out after him, but Rey ducked and attacked. CM Punk and Serena ran up the ramp, as Rey got back in the ring. Smackdown went to commercial.

A bunch of guys all tried to throw Kane out from the corner. Luke Gallows came over and started attacking them to help Kane get free. Gallows tossed Caylen Croft out of the ring, then Kane knocked Masters to the outside. Berretta was tossed up high over the ropes, nearly landing on his Dude Busters partner outside the ring. JTG was thrown over next. Kane and Gallows met in the center of the ring and started to punch back and forth. Kane took Gallows down with punches and kept punching away. McIntyre and Kofi eliminated each other over the ropes.

It came down to a final three of Rey Mysterio, Kane and Luke Gallows. Kane gave a big boot to Rey to knock him down, then went after Gallows. Near the ropes, Kane prepared for a chokeslam. Suddenly, a hooded mystery man from SES appeared and got on the apron to kick Kane in the back. Kane turned and that allowed Gallows to attack. He tossed Kane over the ropes but Kane held on. From the apron, Kane grabbed the mystery guy and Gallows each by the throat. He shoved mystery man off the apron, then got in the ring and walked Gallows to the other side, pushing him over the top rope.

It was just Rey vs Kane for Undertaker's spot now. The two battled for several minutes, with Rey able to stun Kane a bit. With Rey on the apron, he jumped off the top rope for a move, but Kane grabbed him around the throat. As Kane went for the Chokeslam, Rey turned it into a headscissors to toss Kane out over the top rope. Rey now joins CM Punk, Big Show and Jack Swagger in the World Title Fatal 4-way!

Winner: Rey Mysterio wins the Smackdown roster Battle Royal to become the final participant in Fatal 4-Way's World Title match.

Smackdown Recap 05.28.10

Smackdown Recap from Cleveland, OH:

Smackdown opened with a promotional video to announce The Undertaker's return to Friday night Smackdown.

Smackdown General Manager Theodore Long was introduced and came down to the ring to start the show off. In the ring, Teddy did some of his dance moves before speaking. Long discussed the upcoming Fatal 4-Way PPV, coming in four weeks. Teddy said World Heavyweight champion Jack Swagger will defend the title in a Fatal Fourway match at the PPV. Long added that Big Show automatically qualifies due to Jack Swagger's DQ at Over the Limit. Teddy said for the other spots, CM Punk will face Kane for an opportunity, and Rey Mysterio will face The Undertaker for the other spot.

Teddy said the Fatal 4-Way will be a momentous PPV- just then Drew McIntyre's theme song came on and the former IC champ came to the ring. Striker reviewed what happened to Drew McIntyre at OTL when Matt Hardy attacked him post-match. In the ring, Drew got on the mic and said he should still be the IC champ right now. Drew said his arm was lacerated during his match with Kofi at OTL, and Teddy allowed the match to go on. Drew said since Teddy can't do his job right, he'll have to do it for him. Teddy said Drew had no right to trash his office Sunday. Drew yelled that he's the chosen one.

Teddy started to talk about when Matt Hardy gets his hands on McIntyre. Drew produced a letter from Mr. McMahon, which Teddy had to read aloud. The note said as a result of Hardy's actions post-match at OTL, Matt Hardy will be suspended without pay until further notice - signed Vincent Kennedy McMahon. Drew told Teddy to consider this a warning not to turn a blind eye to his misfortunes again or he'll get a termination letter. Matt Hardy's theme music came on and Matt began to start towards the ring. Teddy walked up to him to stop him. He had security back him up, pleading with Hardy to please leave or he'd be forced to fire him. Hardy kept staring down at Drew McIntyre. Drew got on the mic and told him he's the reason Matt is suspended, smirking. Hardy was furious as he went backstage.

Kofi Kingston & Big Show vs. Drew McIntyre & Jack Swagger

Swagger came out with a bruised left eye and bandaged ribs. Swagger had a mic in hand for his entrance. He repeated "And still World Heavyweight Champion...Jack, Swagger" multiple times on his way down the ramp and as he climbed the ring steps.

The heels worked to doubleteam Kofi throughout the early part of the match. At one point, Swagger tossed Kofi against the corner. Swagger charged but got a foot to the face. Kofi jumped from the corner to take out Swagger. Both guys struggled to make a tag. Swagger made it, and Drew rushed in, then tried to clothesline Kofi. Kofi rolled underneath it and tagged in Show. Big Show came in growling and hit a huge splash on Drew in the corner. He went over to knock Swagger off the apron. As he turned, Drew kicked him in the knee, then tried for the Future Shock DDT. McIntyre couldn't grasp around Show for the move, so Show threw him down. He got Drew to his feet and looked out at Swagger. Show let out a huge roar, then hit the KO punch to knockout Drew for the pin. Show kept looking out at Swagger.

Winners: Big Show & Kofi Kingston win via pinfall over Jack Swagger & Drew McIntyre.

Luke Gallows and Serena were backstage with CM Punk in a locker room. Punk had his back to the camera with a towel over his head. Punk was worried about how he looks now that he's bald, saying the fans are going to mock him. Punk then said he's better than them and he doesn't care if they mock him. Punk said he's courageous unlike them. He vowed to go out and rip the towel off his head so they can see the true face of CM Punk. He stood up and the StraightEdge crew started walking with him.

Vickie Guerrero was backstage and started yelling at Vance Archer and Curt Hawkins in Espanol. The only recognizable English words were "15 days" but Vickie seemed unhappy. Curt said 15 days is plenty of time and not to worry, the fans will pay attention. Vickie told them to get lost. As she was cooling down, Dolph Ziggler came in and Vickie was all smiles. Vickie thanked Dolph for sticking up for her at last week's Peep Show. Dolph said it was no big deal. Vickie reminded him that she's the official consultant of Smackdown. Dolph started to speak, but Vickie put her finger on his lips.

Vickie told Dolph that because she owes him a favor, he's in an enviable position. Dolph started getting flustered saying he couldn't stand to see that little troll and Christian out there insulting her. Vickie said as a token of her appreciation she set up a match for him. Dolph will team up with Chavo to take on Christian and Hornswoggle. She added for Dolph there's more where that came from as he walked off. The camera zoomed in on Vickie's necklace which said "Cougar".

Straight Edge Society came out from backstage with Punk wearing a towel over his head. Punk was about to turn and head backstage several times, but Gallows and Serena encouraged their leader to continue down the ramp. Punk waited for several moments before finally yanking the towel off in the ring. Punk was now wearing a black SES mask, Rey Mysterio style. His beard was still sticking out, but no sign of the bald SES leader.

Kane vs. CM Punk
World Title Fatal Fourway qualifying match #1

Striker and Grisham reviewed still shot images from OTL when Rey Mysterio got to shave Punk's head. Serena and the mystery hooded SES member helped Punk backstage from OTL.

CM Punk jumped off the corner at Kane but caught a shot to the head. Kane started to dominate from there, but Punk kicked out of multiple pinfalls. Kane seemed to tweak his leg on one jump. He prepared for a Chokeslam with Punk escaping it. Kane grabbed him to toss Punk through the ropes. Punk tried to grab hold of the rope but his grasp slipped and he fell against the apron, then to the floor. Back in the ring, Punk jumped off the corner for a flying splash bodypress pin. Kane rolled through but Punk escaped his pin attempt. Kane went for the Chokeslam, but Punk escaped it. Punk tried to get Kane up for the GTS, but he was too heavy.

Kane grabbed hold of Punk's black mask to try to pull it off. Kane nearly had it off, but Serena jumped up on the apron to distract the ref. Since Kane was working on Punk near the ropes, Luke Gallows came over and punched Kane through the ropes. That move allowed Punk to finally get Kane up for the GTS. After recovering on the mat for a few moments, Punk crawled over for the pinfall win.

Winner: CM Punk wins via pinfall over Kane to qualify for the World Title Fatal 4-Way match.

So far in the Fatal 4-Way match for the World Title are Jack Swagger, Big Show, CM Punk and one more superstar to be determined (Undertaker or Rey Mysterio).

Hornswoggle & Christian vs. Dolph Ziggler & Chavo Guerrero

Vickie Guerrero accompanied her nephew Chavo Guerrero to the ring. Vickie stood by ringside to watch the matchup.

Hornswoggle got in early after Christian took control of Chavo. Swoggle had a bunch of kick attacks, before he rushed at Chavo and ate a boot to the face. Chavo began the mocking and taunting. He put a foot on Hornswoggle's face and stomped around. Chavo slammed Swoggle near the corner then tagged in Dolph Ziggler who kept up the antics with Hornswoggle. Ziggler put Hornswoggle up in the corner, then cockily backed up to charge.

Swoggle got out of the way, and Dolph hit face first. Hornswoggle ran under Dolph's legs then made a tag to Christian. Christian came in to take control against Chavo. Christian hit the forearm off the corner, and prepared for Killswitch, but Chavo backed him to a corner to punch away. Christian had a pinfall after a missile dropkick but Dolph was over to break things up. Hornswoggle got into the action kicking away on Dolph's legs. Dolph tossed him out of the ring under the bottom rope. Christian ran over to clothesline Ziggler out. Chavo suplexed Christian then went for a Frogsplash, but Christian avoided it. Chavo rolled to land safely but as he went for Christian he was countered by the Killswitch.

Dolph Ziggler rushed in after the bell and locked a sleeper hold on Christian. Christian fell to the mat and had no help other than the ref who broke it up. Vickie smiled approvingly from ringside as Ziggler's theme music hit.

Winners: Christian & Hornswoggle win via pinfall over Chavo Guerrero and Dolph Ziggler.

Grisham and Striker announced that Drew McIntyre gets a rematch for the Intercontinental Title next week against Kofi Kingston.

Josh Matthews was backstage to interview the co-Womens Champions Michelle McCool and Layla. They told Josh Matthews "buh-bye" and then started talking to each other. Michelle gave the fans a history lesson said that the Womens title is the oldest title in WWE history. They said the title is now "flawless". They explained why they both have a title belt, because it was a two-on-one handicap match. They continued on with their annoying talk saying "jealousy is an ugly disease, get well soon!"

MVP vs. Luke Gallows

MVP walked over to the announcers table prior to the match, grabbed some hand chalk and did the trademark Lebron James hand clap to leave a cloud of powder in the air.

MVP hit a flying shoulder block from the corner and began to knock Gallows down late in the match. With MVP gaining momentum he hit a facebuster on Gallows to drop him, then did the Ballin' Elbow drop. He waited for Gallows to stand up, but Gallows rolled to the outside. MVP jumped off the side apron to take down Gallows, then tossed him back inside. MVP got up on the corner for a high risk move. Serena did another distraction deal from the apron causing the ref to turn away. Suddenly, the hooded mystery man came out and grabbed MVP on the apron. He DDT'd MVP into the apron and left him there for Gallows. The ref turned as Gallows got MVP and hit the Gallows Pole on him.

Winner: Luke Gallows wins via pinfall over MVP.

Striker and Grisham talked about last seeing Undertaker at Wrestlemania. They talked about Batista quitting on Raw. The Raw Rebound showed the incidents involving Batista quitting WWE due to injuries sustained at Over the Limit by Cena in their match. Bret Hart was announced as new GM for Raw. He came to the ring offering Batista a chance for a spot in the Fatal 4-Way WWE Title match. Batista would go against Orton to qualify. Since Batista refused, Orton automatically qualified. After that Batista told the WWE Universe he'd had enough and quit.

Grisham and Striker discussed how the WWE Title Fatal 4-Way match is set: John Cena defends against Randy Orton, Sheamus and Edge. Meanwhile, Smackdown will have Jack Swagger defending against Big Show, CM Punk and one more guy - either Rey Mysterio or Undertaker.

Time for Rey Mysterio's big entrance for the final qualifying match. He came out to a crowd ovation and stopped along the ramp to put his head to several young fans wearing Mysterio masks. Smackdown went to commercial with Rey in the ring getting himself ready.

Rey Mysterio vs. The Undertaker
WOrld Title Fatal 4-Way Qualifying match #2

Rey managed to ground Taker at the start, but not for long as Taker knocked mysterio down, then suplexed him gut first onto the top rope. Rey recovered on the apron. Taker ran at Rey with a kick, but Rey moved and Undertaker got stuck on the ropes. Rey managed to dropkick Taker into the crowd barrier, enraging the Deadman. Taker chased Rey in and out of the ring. Rey got in quick and then used the ropes to jump out onto Taker. Smackdown took a commercial break as Taker was down on the outside.

After commercial, Undertaker had the Chokeslam set up, but Rey escaped. He went for a Last Ride but Rey jumped off. He managed to knock Taker against the ropes, but as Rey went for 619, Undertaker got a boot in his face. The fight moved to the outside where Undertaker rammed Rey into the ringpost multiple times to cause damage.

In the closing moments, Taker was in control and dominating Mysterio. He worked his arm injury repeatedly. Taker tried to pick Rey up, but Mysterio sat on his shoulders, punched on him then sent Taker into the corner. Mysterio hit a Hurricanrana from the top rope, then a dropkick when Taker was seated on the mat. Undertaker did his classic sit-up, but Mysterio did a springboard jump off the top rope to take him down for the pinfall. Taker stood up, but Rey kicked him in the leg. Undertaker fell against the ropes and Rey hit 619. Rey went for the big Splash off the top rope. As he landed Rey put a hand around his throat and went for a Chokeslam. Rey kept fighting though. Finally at one point, Rey did a Springboard flip from the ropes at Taker. Undertaker caught him in the air and hit the Tombstone Piledriver for the win.

Smackdown closed with The Undertaker kneeling in the ring in a dark arena as his theme music played on.

Winner: The Undertaker wins via pinfall over Rey Mysterio to qualify for the Fatal 4-Way World Title match.

Raw Recap 04.19.10

Raw Recap from Newark, New Jersey:

The show opened with a camera shot of the revved up crowd, followed by Triple H arriving out to the ramp and then down to the ring. The announcement was made of HHH by what sounded like Lillian Garcia, but no announcer was in the ring on Raw.

Triple H told the fans a giant volcano erupted in Iceland ruining travel everywhere. HHH said they're used to "giant gaseous eruptions" in the WWE but usually they involve Big Show and Mexican food. Triple H said the entire Raw roster is stuck in Europe due to the volcano eruption. HHH said don't worry you won't have to watch me fight in a 2 hour Iron man match with Frank the audio guy. He said the WWE upper management worked feverishly to make sure they have a show tonight of top quality.

CM Punk discussed the upcoming WWE Draft and how he may be headed to Raw. He said if he does the SES comes with him. HHH joked back at Punk that there's only 2 members of SES. He also brought up how Serena and Gallows are bald but Punk isn't. HHH said after Sunday when Mysterio beats him, Punk won't only be president of the hair club but also a member. Punk said he'll crush Mysterio's spirit on Sunday and then Rey will fall in line, followed by the fans. Punk said HHH would do some good to be in SES as well.

HHH said he just doesn't believe in what Punk does, he believes in freedom like the fans in attendance do. HHH walked out to the crowd and pointed out different members of the crowd and talked about what they can do since they're free. HHH pointed out Lillian Garcia sitting there at ringside, saying Lillian chose to come back to WWE for just a night to horse around.

Punk had enough of HHH finally and said he's not asking HHH, he's telling him. Punk kicked HHH in the gut, and the beatdown started. Gallows restrained HHH while Serena got the trimmers hooked up. Punk kept elbowing on HHH maniacally, then prepared to cut his hair. Suddenly, Rey Mysterio's music hit and Rey charged to the ring to make the save. After fighting off Gallows, Mysterio and HHH had Punk in the ring alone. Mysterio got the clippers and was able to cut off some of Punk's hair before Gallows came in to attack. Punk escaped the ring holding his hair up the ramp.

Michael Cole said tonight the cast of MacGruber's in charge of Raw.

Matt Hardy vs. Drew McIntyre

Cole and Lawler noted that thanks to satellite feeds they will hear from John Cena next. McIntyre did some major damage when outside the ring as he kicked Hardy into the steel steps. Back in the ring, Hardy took swings at McIntyre but couldn't see straight. Hardy hit the Side Effect though for a near fall. He also countered McIntyre's Future Shock DDT with a backdrop. Both men collided face first in the corner area, falling to the mat. Hardy got to his feet and then on the middle rope of the corner. Drew McIntyre yanked his legs out causing Hardy to hit the mat hard. McIntyre took the pinfall there.

Winner: Drew McIntyre wins via pinfall over Matt Hardy.

Cole and Lawler talked about the volcano eruption in Iceland which has disrupted air travel. Lawler said the Raw wrestlers are stuck in Belfast Northern Ireland. They spoke to John Cena via satellite who sent a message to everyone in the WWE Universe that they're all safe there, but he apologizes they can't be on Raw. Cena said his preparation for Extreme Rules won't be disrupted and he'll be at the PPV if he has to swim run or walk to get there. Cena vowed to be Last Man Standing on Sunday so the "Champ will be here!"

They showed highlights from backstage last week when Vladimir Kozlov and Carlito complained about not getting what they want lately on Raw. Carlito blamed the guest hosts. Vlad said he'll get what he wants next week or he'll make MacGruber suffer.

Vladimir Kozlov was in the ring and said he's been treated unfairly. He pointed to Lawler and said King will read my statement. Lawler got in the ring to read it out on the mic. Lawler read that Kozlov feels he's being treated unfairly and as an elite athlete he demands elite competition. Lawler continued Kozlov's statement which called the crowd "spoiled, ignorant Americans who are physically inferior and weak." Kozlov yanked the mic away from Lawler and demanded competition. Just then the MacGruber theme song hit, and out came MacGruber along with co-star Kristen Wiig carrying a large and small American Flag.

They got in the ring to circle Vlad with the flags, then MacGruber told Wiig to read his statement. Wiig said Mr. McMahon set up a Superpowered main event which will have CM Punk, Gallows and Jericho against HHH, Mysterio and Edge. MacGruber and Kozlov started to get in each other's face. MacGruber told Kozlov that he found him competition in the form of R-Truth. Truth arrived out doing his "What's Up" entrance. He stopped at the top of the ramp as MacGruber told Kozlov if he tries to run that he rigged the whole place with explosives. Truth and MacGruber started doing a "what's up" exchange to see who could yell it loudest, and suddenly an explosion went off at the top of the ramp. All that remained were Truth's shoes, and MacGruber acted as if he rigged the wrong spot to blow up. Kozlov told MacGruber he'll find him later tonight, then left the ring.

Raw returned with a MacGruber skit as MacGruber was shown trying to force his way out the EXIT door. HHH came in to ask what was going on. MacGruber said he was going to get some fresh air. HHH pointed out that MacGruber's pants were all wet. MacGruber said he borrowed his friends pants to help out his really nervous friend. Just then, Kane walked in and MacGruber said there's my good friend. HHH explained to Kane what MacGruber said, and Kane looked bewildered. MacGruber got out of there and Kane sniffed around saying "I don't think that's the only thing he did in those pants."

Cole and Lawler hyped the Jack Swagger Randy Orton World Heavyweight title match for Extreme Rules. They had Orton via Satellite from Belfast, Ireland. Orton said after Sunday the World title will be wherever he ends up.
Jack Swagger was shown walking backstage en route to the ring.

WWE Slam of the Week covered highlights of the Triple Threat match on Smackdown for the World Title. Jack Swagger won it over Edge and Jericho, after Edge had speared Jericho down. Swagger yanked Edge out of the ring, then got in to pin Jericho.

Swagger arrived to the ring and told Orton talk is cheap when you're 3000 miles away. Swagger demanded they send a ref down to the ring for an open challenge so he can show Orton what he's made of. Swagger said anyone in the locker room can come out and face him if they think they can hang with him in the ring. After a few moments, nobody came out to the ring. Swagger said "that's what I thought" and prepared to leave. As he walked out to the apron, suddenly the lights dimmed, the bell tolled and ominous music played as The Undertaker finally arrived out. Cole noted it's the first time we've seen Taker since he retired Shawn Michaels at WM26. Taker got in the ring wearing a hood which he pulled off to reveal his eyes. Swagger stood outside the ring from a distance watching.

Undertaker vs. Jack Swagger

Taker manhandled Swagger in the opening part of the match, keeping hold of his left arm to do some major damage to Swagger's shoulder. He eventually got on the top rope for Old School to drop Swagger down. Swagger was able to recover and powerslam Taker for a near fall, then began kicking away at him. Taker rolled to the outside to recover, stopping near the steel steps. Swagger came out after him but ended up getting slammed face first into the steps. Taker tried to whip Swagger at the steps, but Swagger reversed it to send Taker's knees into the steps hard.

In the closing moments of the match, Swagger went for his running Splash on Taker in the corner, but Taker grabbed him by the throat and hit the Chokeslam. From there it was all academic as Taker did the Tombstone Piledriver for the pinfall win.

Winner: The Undertaker wins via pinfall over Jack Swagger.

Raw returned with a thanks given to Saliva for the 2010 Extreme Rules theme song.

Cole and Lawler discussed the upcoming MacGruber film and rolled a preview clip from it. They had spliced in footage from the MacGruber film with WWE wrestlers involved in scenes. MVP, Kane, Mark Henry, Great Khali and Chris Jericho were all shown in various parts of the movie as part of MacGruber's special team.

Backstage, Chris Jericho said he saw what happened to CM Punk and told them all to listen to his plan and stay in line so this won't happen again. He started walking down the hall and MacGruber was there with Kristen Wiig. MacGruber told Jericho he hasn't seen him since his role wrapped in the movie, but that he really owned it. Kristen gave him props too. Jericho told him to stop kissing up and said he may get the Oscar for his role in the movie. Jericho said he's going to get the title role in the sequel too. MacGruber asked Jericho for some advice about how to handle Kozlov. Jericho told MacGruber to act sincere towards Kozlov then slap him in the face when he's not expecting it.

MacGruber vs. Vladimir Kozlov

MacGruber was accompanied to the ring by Vicki St. Elmo (Kristen Wiig). Kozlov walked over and looked down at MacGruber. MacGruber put his hand out for a handshake, then looked at Wiig, before slapping Kozlov in the face. Kozlov grabbed both arms of MacGruber and started headbutting him repeatedly, then picked him up for the one arm slam. Just then, someone came out from backstage yelling "stop this match". It was Ryan Philippe, MacGruber's co-star. He said he pulled some strings with the WWE office to make this a handicap match, and he got MacGruber's half brother, Khal-uber.

They rolled a video for "Khaluber" and showed Great Khali in a blond wig dressed like MacGruber. Khali came down to the ring and proceeded to pound away on Kozlov while MacGruber watched from ringside. Kozlov delivered a serious chop on Kozlov to drop him in the ring, before Kozlov rolled to the outside. Kozlov began to back up the ramp, with Khali following him. The bell finally sounded and Lillian Garcia announced MacGruber/Khaluber had won due to countout. Strange decision since Khaluber had left the ring to go after Kozlov during the countout.

MacGruber cut a promo for the new movie right before another explosion went off at the top of the ramp.

Winner: MacGruber & Khaluber win due to countout.

Next Monday in Richmond, VA they'll have the special 3-hour WWE Draft 2010.

They rolled highlights of the Cena-Batista feud which saw Cena capture the WWE Title from Batista at Wrestlemania 26 to win back the WWE Title. They showed Batista's tap out, as well as last week's incident following the conclusion to the Batista vs Orton match. Cena rushed down and put the STF on Batista again. This Sunday they clash in the Last Man Standing match for the WWE Title.

Cole and Lawler ran down the Extreme Rules 2010 card including Swagger vs Orton, Edge vs Jericho in a steel cage, and Triple H vs Sheamus in a Street Fight.

Triple H made his way down to the ring, but was interrupted as Sheamus came on the Titantron via Satellite from Northern Ireland. Sheamus said even though HHH isn't there with them, he's going to show him an example for Sunday. Sheamus dragged a WWE staff member out into camera view and started beating him up. HHH was shown watching from the ring as Raw went to break.

HHH, Rey Mysterio & Edge vs. CM Punk, Luke Gallows & Chris Jericho

Edge arrived limping down the ramp a bit after the heinous attack he suffered from Jericho after the Triple Threat match on Smackdown.

Early on, Mysterio was able to get launched up by Edge and HHH over the top rope to fly out onto Jericho, Gallows and Punk. Raw took a final commercial break with the heels all down outside the ring.

CM Punk and HHH were in a battle after the break, with HHH eventually taking control. He hit the Facebuster on Punk followed by a stiff clothesline. The nearfall followed. HHH whipped Punk to the corner but got kneed as he charged him. Punk rushed at HHH but got the Spinebuster. HHH set up a Pedigree, but Luke Gallows rushed in to clothesline HHH down. From there, all hell broke loose with Mysterio knocking Gallows out of the ring and Edge clotheslining Jericho to the outside.

Edge managed to trip Punk into the ropes, so Mysterio could hit the 619. He did and sent Punk to HHH for the Pedigree for the win.

As Raw closed Mysterio and HHH helped Edge up who was moving gingerly on the hurt achilles leg area. Cole and Lawler hyped up Extreme Rules and next week's draft before showing a replay of the match finish.

Winner: Rey Mysterio, HHH and Edge win via pinfall over Luke Gallows, Chris Jericho and CM Punk.

Smackdown Preview 04.15.10

Last week's Smackdown main event was set up to determine who would be the #1 Contender for new World Heavyweight Champion Jack Swagger at Extreme Rules. In a contest between former champs, Edge and Chris Jericho did battle in an intense matchup. The match ultimately spilled out of the ring, into the crowd and didn't stop even when the referee's ten count came. Due to the double countout, no true #1 Contender was determined, and on Raw, special guest host David Hasselhoff announced that Randy Orton would be facing Swagger at Extreme Rules. With the title match figured out, Jericho and Edge still seem to have unfinished business. Will these two have a rematch set up on Smackdown? What's next for this feud?

Last week also saw CM Punk and StraightEdge Society try to induct WWE NXT rookie Darren Young into their group. To do so, Punk required that Young pledge himself to Punk as his savior, and then allow him to ceremoniously shave Young's head. Young was in the chair and seemed ready to become the newest SES member, but then changed his mind. When Punk got in his face, Young shoved him down, but was then pummeled by Luke Gallows. Punk prepared to shave Young's hair anyways, but Rey Mysterio came to the rescue and broke things up. Young redeemed himself with Punk on NXT by defeating Luke Gallows in the main event match. At the conclusion of the match it seemed Punk was not pleased with Gallows and left him behind. Now tonight on Smackdown, Rey Mysterio will team up with the Hart Dynasty to face Darren Young, CM Punk and Luke Gallows. Who will be victorious in this huge tag team battle?

Also on Smackdown, Jack Swagger now knows of his competitor for Extreme Rules 2010. The new World Heavyweight Champion will have his work cut out for him as he must defend against The Viper, Randy Orton. Orton has defeated Swagger on two straight occasions with pinfall victories after RKO's. However, in Orton's recent Raw match against The Animal Batista, we saw Swagger interrupt the match right when Orton had the win in hand. Swagger delivered a Gutwrench Powerbomb to leave his future Extreme Rules opponent laying on the mat. Will Orton have a message for Swagger on Smackdown, or make an appearance on the show?

Check out tonight's Smackdown at 8PM EST on MyNetworkTV!

WWE NXT Recap 04.13.10

WWE NXT recap from London, England:

NXT opened with highlights from last week's Keg carrying contest which Heath Slater won, just barely edging out Skip Sheffield by 0.4 seconds. Slater's prize was a main event match against Kane, which he later lost to put his record at 4-2. There's just four weeks left to get up in the ranks and avoid elimination as the last man in the Pro's Poll.

Matt Striker was in the ring to start the show where he introduced the NXT rookies one by one as they came out from backstage and down to the ring. The rookies arrived out from last to first in order of their current rankings, with Darren Young coming out first and Daniel Bryan coming to the ring last.

Striker interviewed Michael Tarver about being disqualified in the keg carry. Striker asked David "A List" Otunga about going against John Cena last night on Raw. The crowd chanted "You tapped out" at Otunga. Striker asked Justin Gabriel about defeating David Otunga last week, and how he'd do against Cena. Gabriel said give him a match with Cena and we'll see.

Tonight's NXT competition involved connecting with the WWE Universe audience. Striker said as a WWE Superstar they'll be competing on a global level. Striker said tonight's test is of mentality, with the live crowd being the judges tonight. The winner of the competition will get their own entrance theme music, so they won't have to use their pro's music anymore. Striker then gave a topic to each rookie and 30 seconds to speak on the topic, with the audience getting to just originality and creativity. Striker reminded them "it's not a popularity contest", then added Daniel Bryan is ranked #1 and had him step up to a podium.

Daniel Bryan's topic was flowers, Wade Barrett's was blase and Justin Gabriel's topic was flowers. Heath Slater had to talk about cereal, and Otunga's topic was sleep. Skip Sheffield was given a topic of rainbows but didn't really mention them at all. Michael Tarver was given the topic of itchy, but he put the mic down and walked off from the podium. Finally, Darren Young got the topic of toothpaste and said a lot of the people in England don't use it. Tarver grabbed the mic and went off on Young and the crowd.

Unfortunately, it was a popularity contest despite what Striker said in the begining. Wade Barrett and Skip Sheffield had the biggest crowd votes. They had a talk-off. Skip had to talk about bubble gum and Barrett had the topic of wind. Barrett won the crowd over saying he'd be the first English WWE champion. Barrett now gets his own original theme music.

After commercial break there was a Raw Rebound. Highlights were shown of Randy Orton versus Batista. The match was back and forth, with Orton finally able to hit the RKO. As he was about to collect a pinfall win, Jack Swagger snuck into the ring and grabbed Orton to hit him with the Gutwrench Powerbomb. As Swagger backed up the ramp, John Cena rushed down to the ring, knocking Swagger down. Cena got in the ring to put the STF on Batista and kept it locked in until referees pulled him off.

Josh Matthews and Michael Cole talked about the various Extreme Rules matches so far including Cena vs Batista in a Last Man Standing match, a Street Fight between HHH and Sheamus, and the World Heavyweight match between Jack Swagger and Randy Orton.

Matthews and Cole looked at highlights from last Friday's Smackdown when CM Punk was going to shave off Darren Young's hair to induct him into StraightEdge Society. Young knocked Punk down, but Luke Gallows knocked Young down. Gallows held Young back as Punk readied the clippers, Rey Mysterio's music hit and Mysterio hit the ring to save Young.

Young was shown backstage with the Straightedge Society. CM Punk chastised Young for what happened last week, but also commended him for standing up for what he believes in. Young apologized, but Gallows kept giving his own comments. Punk asked Gallows if he thinks he can beat Young and Gallows raised his hand saying "I do". Punk told Young if he loses tonight he will have his head shaved.

Wade Barrett vs. Christian

Barrett fought in a rookie versus pro match. Last week he made the winning pin on Christian during a 8 man tag match, thanks to a little outside help from Jericho.

Jericho was at ringside for tonight's match as was Christian's rookie, Heath Slater. Jericho kept yelling at Matthews to say stuff on commentary about his rookie Wade Barrett, as Christian gained momentum. Carlito and Michael Tarver were shown watching the match on a flatscreen backstage. Barrett got up to avoid Christian's move off the ropes, then hit a big boot on him for a near fall.

Christian avoided Barrett in the corner then hit several moves to take him down. He set up for Killswitch, but Jericho got up to distract the ref. Barrett countered Killswitch and had Christian on his shoulders, but Heath Slater grabbed Barrett's leg from ringside. Christian slid off Barrett's shoulders and hit the Killswitch for the win.

Winner: Christian wins via pinfall over Wade Barrett.

Matthews and Cole discussed how David "A-List" Otunga is showing up everywhere and was recently on Access Hollywood. They showed highlight footage from his NXT promo video and Access appearance. Former Raw guest host Maria Menounous interviewed Otunga about being married to Jennifer Hudson and their son David Jr. Maria also talked to Jennifer Hudson about their child and their training. Maria told Otunga to master the staredown for in the ring.

Backstage, The Miz was chastising Daniel Bryan where he called him the Susan Boyle of the WWE with no star power. Miz compared him to Otunga who's a star. Miz said the only reason Bryan got #1 is because of Miz and how the pro's like him. Miz told Bryan if he listens to him maybe he'll somebody. Miz screamed at Bryan to go out there and actually win tonight so he can be a star.

Daniel Bryan vs. William Regal

Daniel Bryan's record is currently 0-7. Tonight he got to face pro William Regal in London. Skip Sheffield accompanied Regal to the ring. Matthews and Cole talked about how Bryan wears red trunks as an ode to his mentor William Regal. Early on, Bryan had the advantage with several impressive moves on Regal including forearm strikes and kicks in the corner. Regal gained control briefly, but Bryan jumped up on him and put a guillotine submission on him. Regal suplexed Bryan back then ran and caught with the Knee Trembler for the pinfall win.

Daniel Bryan is now 0-8. The Miz angrily got in the ring and clobbered Regal down from behind, knocking him out of the ring. The Miz helped Bryan to his feet then hit the Skullcrushing Finale on his rookie to leave him face down in the ring.

Winner: William Regal wins via pinfall over Daniel Bryan.

Darren Young vs. Luke Gallows

If Young wins this match, CM Punk said he'd forgive him for his transgression on Smackdown. However, if Gallows wins, then Young would have to get his head completely shaved.

During the main event match, Matt Hardy was shown backstage with his rook Justin Gabriel giving him some things to consider about the match they watched. In just under 3 minutes time, Darren Young surprised Gallows and Punk with a roll-up pin to defeat Gallows. Punk got in the ring mulling over what he just saw, then raised Young's hand victoriously. Punk, Serena and Darren Young left the ring together, leaving Luke Gallows behind in the ring looking sad.

Winner: Darren Young wins via pinfall over Luke Gallows.

Smackdown Preview 12.04.09

Last week on Smackdown two things were learned about the World Heavyweight Title match for the TLC Pay-Per-View. In a match for the #1 Contender spot against Undertaker, Kane and Batista fought to determine who would head to the PPV. Batista ultimately won it by countout, moving himself closer towards his goal of regaining the title he is in hot pursuit of. Later in the night, Undertaker had a non-title match against Chris Jericho with Batista arriving to the ring to help provide commentary. During the match, The Animal decided to get up and move towards Undertaker once, with the Deadman staring him down until he returned to his seat. However, Batista struck later as he interfered in the match, clipping Taker's leg. After a Jericho Codebreaker layed out Taker, Batista grabbed a steel chair and began to repeatedly bash the Undertaker. With Batista standing tall with a chair in hand, we learned that "chairs will be legal" during their TLC match, which in fact will be a Chairs match for the title. Now, after last week's vicious attack, Undertaker has called out Batista to come meet him face to face. Will the Animal follow suit, and if so what will go down in this volatile confrontation?

Last week also saw the re-introduction of Luke Gallows, formerly Festus, who CM Punk brought to the ring to prove to the naysayers that his straightedge lifestyle can help others. Punk claimed he has been working with Gallows after the superstar developed an addiction to pain pills and prescription meds. However, during Punk's match against Matt Hardy, Luke Gallows decided to lend a helping hand of his own to CM Punk. The large superstar grabbed Matt Hardy from the apron area, then later assaulted him in the ring, allowing Punk to get in his own shots at Hardy. Matt won by a disqualification decision, but the damage had been done, after Punk criticized Jeff Hardy and then attacked Matt. What will Punk and Gallows have in store next for the Smackdown roster? Will Matt Hardy retaliate?

The Unified Tag team champions consist of one Smackdown member, although Big Show has been known to help out the program. Chris Jericho and Big Show will have their hands full in less than 2 weeks when they put their titles on the line in a TLC match against D-Generation X. On Raw this past week, Jericho fought Triple H one-on-one with the loser being forced to compete in a 2-on-1 handicap match against the winner's tag team next week. Jericho lost the battle even after Big Show tried to use his power to win the match for his partner. Now Jericho will head to Raw to face both Triple H and Shawn Michaels. What will Jericho have to say on Smackdown regarding his upcoming Raw and TLC opponents, DX?
